Upon moving to the DMV area last year, I was on the hunt for a talented brow artist to replace my beloved Renata in Boston. I am very picky when it comes to my eyebrows and anal as can be. After many searches through social media and google I was able to find Aggy. I had my first appointment and felt she was good enough, not the best, but I wanted to give her a chance. I came here a few more times when I was unable to make it to Boston to do my eyebrows. I believe on my 2nd or 3rd visit I was 10 or 15 mins late possibly because I misremembered my appt time. To my surprise I was late and I actually thought I was early. She made mention of this and still agreed to see me, cool. There was another visit that I had to rebook in the same day after missing my earlier appointment time and I was double charged. Ok no problem, I can't expect loyalty treatment as I'm still fairly new and cannot tell people how to run their businesses. After she did my brows for my birthday, I was so unhappy with how my photos came out because my eyebrows looked horrendous, thin, misshaped, and the worst I've ever seen them. My brows are normally fullI but I was forced to fill them in which I've never had to do and I remember my friend telling me to look for a new brow artist asap. But I didn't heed her advice right away due to convenience at the time and I said to myself, let me give her one more chance or I'll have to find someone else. My final straw though was when I had an appointment scheduled and I was running no more than 20 mins late for my appointment. I was the second to last appointment of the day and had been running vacation errands all day as I was traveling the next morning. I pleaded with the receptionist to allow me to keep my appointment as I had nowhere else to go and anywhere else would've been closed. I asked her to speak with aggy and I asked if I can be seen last and she could take the last appointment before me, making me her last appointment. I was literally speeding in the rain and less than 20 mins away and after the receptionist asked aggy, it was a resounding "no." I literally sobbed due to the stress of the situation and had to call my friend to calm me down. To add insult to injury, I'd be charged for the service. I have never experienced this level of harshness, lack of empathy, and dismissiveness. It's as if my business didn't matter and she didn't care to build a harmonious customer-client relationship. They were not willing to work with me at all, it was just, "oh come tomorrow," as if I didn't repeatedly say I had an early morning flight. Needless to say, I will not be recommending nor returning. I was referred here by two different people, on two different occasions, so I decided to give Waxing With Aggy a try. From the website, to the receptionist, to the service, this was the best waxing experience I've had to date. All the information you could possibly need can be found on the website but they are also super responsive and willing to help if you need to call and ask a few questions. The booking process is seamless and can be all be done online or you can call and book also. The office itself is located right off of Georgie Ave so it's fairly easy to find. The parking lot is rather small though as this business shares the lot with 1-2 other businesses, so parking is a bit limited. But, Waxing With Aggy is upfront about this and informs you of this during the booking process so I knew what to expect upon arrival. I would suggest being strategic with the time you book your appointment -- choose a time when you think people are less likely to be out to increase the likelihood of finding a park. The office itself was very well-kept and inviting and the receptionist greeted me immediately upon entry and got me checked in. Music was also playing all throughout the office so that was an added plus. I booked with Agnes and she was the absolute best! I got the Manzilian, Exterior Buttocks, Stomach/Abs, Chest, Underarms, and Inner Thigh all waxed and while I was a bit nervous about the pain, Agnes reassured me that she would take really good care of me. I am in OB/GYN and deal with women's health everyday/all day, so I can testify that she is very knowledgeable in her craft and what she says is 100% accurate. She takes time to evaluate your hair pattern so that she knows how to properly position you and which wax to use (true professionals know one size does not fit all and that is true of types of waxes too). Two stars because the place is clean. On my first visit, I filled out a form about my lifestyle that was not reviewed before my service. I had scars between my brows after my first visit (see attached photos). When I brought it to the business's attention ", THEY BLAMED IT ALL ON ME, even though I had been completely transparent on my entry sheet. Also, one eyebrow was shorter than the other. For that reason I cancelled them on doing my brows. I returned on a whim to wax my lip a few weeks later with a different team m, and Aggy asked me if the hair on my head was real. This was not only awkward, but very disappointing to hear from another black woman. I articulated this, but Aggy did not apologize for what she said but for my feelings. How kind of her! I was awarded a complimentary service which I assume was her way of apologizing. Third times a charm, I gave them a final chance on a Brazilian. Kim had a good technique but she wasn't genuine. I didn't find her kind or caring. She seemed like she wanted me to leave before she even started, not warm or welcoming at all. Kim also lacked conversational skills. I was interrogated the entire time. Just a heads up, ask literature scholars about literature or a doctors about medicine or research. Or, just ask another human how their day is going. Also, this is the first waxing salon that stands there when you undress and re-dress. I assure you, if you leave folk in the room to undress no one will tamper with your waxes. This was very awkward and just made it seem like WWA doesn't trust or respect their clients as humans deserving of some modesty; yes, even in an immodest situation. I gave WWA multiple chances, because it's a sense of pride to support black businesses. However, I refuse to spend my money where I am not valued or respected, even if the business owners look like me. The phrase "Every sister ain't a sister..." comes to mind. To be fair, I didn't get Aggy, and I didn't do body waxing (I did eyebrows).. so maybe that is where I messed up. Anyway, my eyebrows were CRAZY uneven, it's probably the second worst job I have gotten done. When I looked in the mirror I was horrified. They are super uneven and different shapes. Shape -The tail of my left brow is MUCH more skinnier than my right brow. Unevenness -She took too much off the bottom of my left eyebrow (see image) -She somehow took too much off the top arch on the left eyebrow (see red circle in image). Note: I have a scar under my left eyebrow so the weird shape there isn't their fault. I was told they look fine, and that the issue is because my eyebrows need to grow in... Hm.... I don't think so. Any way, she tried to fix it with some filler. I went home, removed all the make up and took a picture of my brows. No, I didn't arch one brow, I didn't take a picture with a tilted face or anything. I had my two sisters look at my face (I didn't ask an anchoring question) and one asked if I did them myself (with a stank look on her face). The other simply asked me why my eyebrows were uneven. I won't go back, but 2 stars because I can at least use makeup for the next few months... and the right eyebrow does look nice! read more

I have been coming to Aggy for years now but today I decided to never come here again. I needed a wax as I was going to have a surgery next week. Trust me, I don't want to bring my child with me when I'm getting a Brazilian wax but today I had an emergency situation where I had no choice but to bring her with me. The front desk explained the I cannot bring my child with me and I'd need to reschedule. I asked to speak with Aggy who was there to explain my situation but she would not even come out to speak with me hiding behind an excuse of a meeting. I am a client and it would take less than a minute to hear me out and to resolve this. I'm extremely appalled how I was treated and the fact that this place is not accommodating at all. Thankfully I found a place that doesn't allow children either but they allowed my daughter in after hearing my situation. As a mother, that's all I can ask for. read more

It's very easy to book an appointment online. You have to pay a deposit that is deducted from your final cost. That seems to be the norm recently. Kim did my brows and they look so good!! I don't have eyebrows naturally, so it takes some effort to make it appear that I do;-) I arrived about five minutes early and waited about a minute before being called to the back. The place is cute and really clean. The receptionist is nice. The lot is tiny and it was full, but there is some street parking. I snagged a spot and just fed the meter. Bring about 40 cents to cover the cost and you're good to go. The location is right off of 495 and my drive from Tysons only took about 22 minutes. I've been going to the same person for my Brazilian waxes for about eight years, but if I didn't, I'd switch to this location for that too. Highly recommend! read more

Black owned and woman owned...yes please! Aggy is the best! I have been here a few times for eyebrows and once for a Brazilian. I was very nervous about my Brazilian because I hadn't had one in over a year and then my cycle came on the exact day of my appointment! This was the least painful wax I have ever experienced! Aggy was fast but gentle, and got every single hair. I never have a problem with customer service when I go. My last visit I was about a minute late and they still took me...thank God! The staff is always super friendly and you really feel like friends, not just another customer. I will say that one of the other ladies did by brows once, and I was not as pleased with the outcome. The BEST in the DMV! I've been here a few times but this is my first official review. As soon as you come in, the waiting area is clean, vibrant and organized with waxing after care products. I came five minutes early for my appointment - they pride themselves on being timely for each appointment which I appreciate. I had an eyebrow, underarm and Brazilian waxing with Agnes and she happened to be training another esthetician and she asked me if she could observe my session, which I appreciate. Agnes is knowledgeable - she got to talking about the different types of waxes & I was intrigued. Did I tell you that my waxing session was only 25 minutes? If it were another establishment, I'd only be halfway through. I had enough time in between waxing & my hair appointment to go get lunch & window shop. I went to Aggy after getting referred to by a friend. After a few weeks is Instagram stalking I decided to make my appointment. I am very, very particular about my eyebrows and just recently decided I was looking for someone who better understood my vision for my brows. I was late for my appointment due to traffic, so I was out of breath when I got into the shop. I was calmed down by the serene and quiet ambiance, the cleanliness and organization of the place were also satisfying. As I was in the waiting area, Aggy came out to me and asked what I was getting done. I told her my brows and she gave me sort of a look. We then went into the private room to have more of a chat. Aggy examined my brows and told me that if I wanted a particular shape I had to give my brows some time to grow in. She told me if she did them, I'd be back in the same situation every month--not achieving the brows of my dreams. I was devastated, because I look terrible when my eyebrows aren't done, but Aggy assured me that in a few weeks time there would be enough hair to create the arch I want. I whined and bickered, but she stood by her claim. I appreciate her professionalism in this matter. She very easily could have taken my money and did my brows. Even while pregnant and when I'm about to have my babies I come to get a full Brazilian and the pain is still so so minimal. I barely notice when she's pulling them hairs off!
