I've been a fan of Waxing With Aggy for years and glad they've been able to bounce back during the pandemic. Recently, I went to their shop early because of the new protocols, which I think are super helpful since I deal with some anxiety around cleanliness. And I was able to be serviced for my wax in what get like record time. I've had two of the ladies there, mainly Aggy, and appreciate their way of running it smoothly to avoid contact with more than the receptionist and the waxer. Granted, waxing can be painful, but if I'm not thinking about wait times or cleanliness, it's something I can handle. Pro Tip: they say arrive early and they mean it. I think I've finally found my go to Brazilian wax spot (and probably eyebrows now too) in the DMV! I'm so grateful that it's only a mile away from my place too. I initially booked my appointment because I had a trip coming up, but due to covid, I canceled my trip. You can book online and you will have to pay a deposit. Once your appointment is accepted, you receive a confirmation. I called to reschedule my 2:15 appt at 1pm .....unfortunately for me, my car was towed and I knew I wouldn't be able to get there in time. I was told that I wouldn't be able to reschedule....and if I'm running more than 10 mins late it's a same day no show. I replied, "Ok is it possible to just reschedule since I've already paid the deposit." The response I got was "no this would be a no call no show to the appointment and we will be keeping the deposit for your service" How is it a no call no show if I'm calling you an hour before the service???? She then instructed me to go onto the website and cancel and that I can reschedule through there. The website didn't work to let me do either and to be honest , I will never book with them again so it really didn't matter at that point. My personal preference is to patron companies that allow a little more flexibility. Couldn't get in with my normal person and decided to give Waxing With Aggy a try! Website was easy to navigate and user-friendly. Each service had pricing/short description of what it entails - super helpful since Brazilian/Bikini waxes are different in each salon. Booked an appointment in under 5 minutes and received a confirmation email. I am familiar with the area she is located in, however; it was hard to spot. But it really is between Woodside Deli and Fantasy Nails (adding a picture for anyone needing a visual). Parking is a bit tight but FREE! I agree with other reviewers that it is beautifully decorated, SUPER clean, and smelled good. Aggy is quick and it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. It had been a while since the last time I had a Brazilian because I was doing laser hair removal for the bikini area only - I don't mind a little au natural lol. I knew what to expect but because I was a new client, I still expected her to explain her method, dipping policy and treatment as many people on Yelp have said she provides "information without asking" and "talks you through the whole process." But overall, I am happy with my Brazilian. Kind of have some mixed feelings - wasn't sure if Aggy was having a bad day (she'd mentioned being short-staffed because the phone kept ringing) but she didn't really seem friendly as many reviewers say. Easy to locate off of Georgia Ave, you walk up a flight of stairs into a bright and comfortable space. There was an abundance of private rooms available so the wait time is little to none. I was immediately greeted and offered water and a consultation form to fill. Afterwards I went to the restroom to prepare for my wax and it literally had E V E R Y T H I N G a woman will need from wipes to pads and tampons. Led into a room for my Brazilian wax with Agnes --it was huge and sunlight filled with a curtain for discretion of course. My previous waxing experiences always felt like they were small back rooms so it was definitely a nice change of scenery. Sanitation and attention to detail is something this business definitely prides itself on because there was no double dipping and a drawer full of disposable equipment. *sigh of relief* throughout the waxing process itself I was very well informed of what steps we are taking, why she uses one color of wax over another (they're for different hair textures and patterns!) she even took the time to tweeze the more stubborn hairs and in growns. I tried a couple new spots while she was on maternity leave, but no one is as good as aggy. I've done everything and my experience with her and the other aestheticians are always the same: kind, clean, and VERY attentive to the small details (ie: that hair that might turn into an ingrown - aggy will make sure it's gone before before you get off her table). This place is amazing. The atmosphere is really nice.. clean building, nice smell, natural light. The bathroom is equipped with tampons, pads and wipes which just shows how much they care about the comfort of their clients. This was my second time getting a Brazilian from Jessica. She really makes sure your comfortable and goes over any concerns and changes in your lifestyle before she starts. She aways has great conversation and has you laughing so hard that you forget you're getting hair ripped out of your privates lol. My pain tolerance isn't the highest but I felt practically no pain. I give my first visit to WWA a respectable 4 stars. I chose WWA off the strength of its Yelp reviews, because I needed an emergency wax appointment when my main go-to studio was booked. So here's the run-down: WWA is farther out than I initially realized, but it's still an easily accessible car ride from upper Northwest DC. I had mistakenly thought it was located somewhere near downtown Silver Spring, but it is actually about 8-10 mins further up Georgia Avenue from that point. The salon is located in a tiny little strip of storefronts and, let me warn you now, the parking is a pain! Definitely add an additional 5 minutes to your pre-arrival time so you have time to find/wait for a space. As for the salon itself, it is light and bright and modern. It also seems very tech-savvy (allowing you to book online, emailing you your receipts, etc.). So in terms of the overall aesthetic, it gets 5 stars. But I still have to shave off a star for the actual waxing experience itself, which had the following issues: 1. On your first visit, you fill out some paperwork about your wax related health issues and sign a waiver. But as far as I could tell, the paperwork wasn't actually reviewed before your service begins. (I might have missed it, but I really didn't see Agnes aka Aggy review my completed form.) 2. When you're first taken to the treatment room, your waxer remains in the room while you disrobe and get on the table. I have NEVER been at a salon that doesn't give you privacy in the moment. So you're just expected to stand there and undress while a complete stranger just stands there and waits for you. Also, at my usual waxing salon I am given disposable underwear to put on for a bikini wax. But here at WWA, you leave your own underwear on and just move it/hold it as needed while the waxing is done. 3. I came for an underarm and bikini wax. But the wax used had been heated unevenly and had multiple "hot spots" that literally burned when applied. But thankfully, Aggy worked fast and the wax was removed pretty quickly, such that there wasn't really time to complain about it. 4. Despite the cute decor, the ambiance wasn't as upscale or relaxing as it should be. Throughout the procedure, loud rap music was blasting throughout the room (a subsequent Google search proved it to have been Cardi B: "I was born to flex / Diamonds on my neck / I like boardin' jets, I like mornin' sex..."). This was so out of step with what I expect from a wax or any kind of self-care experience. So while I'm lying there listening to some nonsense and sustaining the occasional burn, I learn that... 5. A basic bikini wax only cleans up the thigh area. It does not remove any hair from the top. As I learned mid-session, if I wanted hair removed from the top, I'd have to pay more for a so-called "French Bikini." I agreed, but I've never been to a salon where a basic bikini wax didn't clean up the entire triangular area, so to speak. So all in all, this was a "solid" experience with a few bumps in the road along the way. I wouldn't leave my primary wax studio for WWA, but it might be a good option for other people. read more

I had an amazing appointment at Waxing with Aggy for a Brazilian wax! I know that sounds like I went to Six Flags or something, but I really was impressed with Agnes' attention to detail and knowledge about achieving the best possible results before, during, and after a Brazilian. I'm an infrequent waxer, but I decided to go because I was about to be on a rare vacation so I wanted to treat myself. Because I go maybe once or twice a year for a wax, I didn't want a terrible experience and heard nothing but great things about Waxing with Aggy. Plus, she's very close to where I live and was thrilled to support black business. Scheduling an appointment on her website was super easy and I was able to even reschedule after a few other appointments got moved because of inclement weather. Once I got to Waxing with Aggy, I was greeted immediately and Agnes was right on time. The location is so clean and relaxing, so I was able to fully prepare myself for the wax. I got in the room, and Agnes wasted no time getting started. But she walked me through all the pain and informed me of each method she used to remove all my hair while still keeping me chill with great conversation. It wasn't as painful as I expected and left silky smooth :). After a couple weeks since my wax and after following Agnes' post-wax advice, I'm still extremely satisfied with the result. I'm legit a baby when it comes to pain. I don't have a high pain tolerance and was super terrified before coming in. I have tried sugar waxing before and it was just a horrible experience (SO PAINFUL). When I walked in Issa welcomed me. My first impression was that it was SUPER clean. I went to the br and it was stocked with wipes, tampons, and pads, which was nice. Now to the Brazilian wax... it was quick and wasn't as painful as I thought it was going to be.
