I had a wonderful experience coming here for a pedicure. I got their Signature Pedi with a neutral color polish. I was greeted right away & it was easy to make an appointment online. Everyone working here had warm personalities & were helpful to whoever they were working with. The atmosphere was also relaxing, clean & light. When tipping make sure you have cash , but for whatever you're getting you can pay with a credit card. I will absolutely come back & make this my regular go-to location for the downtown Silver Spring area. Glad I found this place because it's also close to a lot of great food spots within the outdoor shopping center & close to the Rock Creek Parkway to drive into or out of DC or go for hikes or biking. Parking is also easy in front or back of the shopping center; the bus stop is also close by. The wait was very long as always. I got my eyebrows done and it must not be sanitary because I got contact dermatitis and my whole face broke out into a rash. I never see anyone wash their hands before touching my face and unfortunately I will not be going back. The shape isn't what I asked for and I went back Monday to fix them but the store was closed, even though the website said it was open. I didn't care that much about the shape but then I started getting a horrible rash. It is also 18$ when any other place will be 15$ or under. It should not be 18$ to not be happy with the shape of your eye brows and then have a horrible rash. read more

A disappointing experience. Went in for an acrylic fill, the owner wasn't happy because the original was done elsewhere. The color I picked didn't disguise the multi-tone acrylic underneath, but the replacement polish was thick and lumpy. I asked the technician to fix the most obvious issues, but the finish is still quite amateur. read more

I really enjoyed this place! Anna & Joan were our technicians (went with my boyfriend). Small and quiet place, seen right at appointment time, attentive, friendly and unexpectedly diverse. Everyone working there was from some somewhere different in the world. We got the $55 pedicure package -- pricier if you paint each toe nail a different color but I got exactly what I wanted, not at all disappointed. Pedi included a warm sugar scrub, oil, hot stone massage, and hot towel wrap (my fav part!). This is the first salon I've found in PG country that I know I'll return to!!! read more

DAY 17 - Only one chip (on the same finger that had the ragged edge)! I'll need to get another topcoat to help me maintain into week 2. My nails have grown significantly and that shows between my cuticle and the lower polished edge. Today, I couldn't take it anymore and filed the length off with a coarse file. I haven't yet painted on a clear coat, but the result, after a once-over with the fine file, is impressive. Altogether, despite the single chip and the growth, my nails look great! I'll keep Fiona's in mind and go often if they augment their collection of summer brights. DAY 8 - I will confess, I'm hard on fingernail polish. Between mothering, typing, cleaning, and constantly washing my hands, my polish is tested. Alas, aside from a slight growth gap, my nails look great! This morning, I noticed the polished edge of one nail was rough, almost snagging, so I applied a clear gel top coat to seal it. Otherwise, I'm really happy! June 15th This is my first professional dip mani, so I picked a salon almost at random (I did oye the 4-star reviews). The staff is friendly and hard-working. The shop is cute! There are signs of age, but it's kept in good condition. The traditional and gel selections are extensive! I wish I could say the same of the dip sets. I like my burnt orange, but I was looking for a summer bright, like electric blue. No luck. I was surprised not to begin with solution-soaked cuticles, trimming and filing. I knew shaping would probably follow the color application, but I had expected TLC for my cuticles beforehand. The end result is pretty good, so maybe it wasn't necessary. Fiona Nail is definitely tidy and clean. The pedi baths have disposable liners, but I was surprised to have my fingers dipped right into the color pot! I've read that this can be unsanitary. Maybe actually dipping is more common than I think, but I was expecting to have the powder poured over my nails. On the other hand, one could argue it's no less sanitary than using a common polish brush on multiple people. ‍ Altogether, I'm quite happy with my nails on Day 1. My tech was patient as I gave feedback to get just the shape I wanted and the end result is lovely. We'll see what I think a week from now! read more

Getting a mani/pedi is a treat for me rather than a weekly thing. it was a year since I as there since my last pedi was horrible. But I gave it another chance. Regretfully. As I sat listening to my technician chat with another customer while doing my nails I was a bit put off. After breaking 2 nails the shape was awful. The whole pedicure was sub par. I could have done to myself. Then, even worse, while sitting in the huge uncomfortable chair everywhere I looked it was dirty. The cabinets were filthy and dead skin was all over the floor throughout. No more chances for this unduly pricey "salon". read more

4/30/2024!!! I came here for my mom's birthday to get her nails and feet done, and we had an appointment. We got there a half hour early. They were already behind. I got my toes done as well and we both got our eyebrows tinted. (I also got mine waxed) I didn't have a horrible experience but I will never return. The lady Hannah, I think was her name, completely rushed my mom's nails and this was supposed to be a day of leisure for her. HER NAILS LOOK TERRIBLE. Her toes came out nicely and I thought mine did as well but they chipped TWO days later. I had a different technician. I wasn't able to see how my waxed eyebrows came out as she segued quickly into doing my tint which was completely uneven. Tints are usually supposed to sit for about 10-15 minutes and we were both done in 7 minutes tops! They became backed up with other appointments and walk ins and the black lady working there with black and blue braids was becoming impatient with them doing our services. YET, we were still technically within our appointment time. Hannah got tint on my mom's shirt and the manager (lady with braids) or whomever she was did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. NO ONE DID. NOT A DRY CLEANING OPTION OR MONEY OFF. COMPLETELY UNPLEASANT AND UNPROFESSIONAL. My mom asked if it was PERMANENT and the lady said YES, but still did nothing! She said try washing it out, but it never came out, SMH!! for over $300, I DEFINITELY ADVISE YOU TO GO ELSEWHERE that's professional and respectful of your patronage and money! I come here periodically for pedicures and they never disappoint. They have attentive service, recognize me, and do a good job with the pedicure. The space feels luxe and I've even gotten their Thai massage when I was doing heavy lifting at the gym and was constantly sore. I do have a fav nail tech but try them out for yourselves. read more

I've been a customer since this salon first opened on Grubb Rd as a green business (Emerald Door). At that time, the salon was VERY clean, the towels in good shape, the tools always came from Sterilizer (seemingly used once and cleaned again, disposable tools offered to customer every time or tossed out), bathroom fresh, snacks provided, etc. The products used on clients during services were natural and high quality. Overall, it was pricier experience than the typical salon but I could see where the extra money was spent. It was a true luxury experience. Since being under new management (Fiona's), this place is like any run of the mill, corner-cutting nail salon. The floor is dirty, the towels are dingy, sometimes with holes, the cleanliness practices by technicians have seemingly been restricted or are now more lax. The tools reused/used straight off tray from previous use and some bottles of remover, cuticle oils, top coats, etc. may be crafted/ dried-over/broken. Everything is just more unkempt. Fiona's kept the clientele list and upscale price menu but the sevice is way, way below what it was! Not only that, but prices are not posted and pricing increases without notice. I am patient and will pay for good sevice. I also tip more than 20% because bad business practices are not usually technicians' fault. I enjoy many of the technicians (friendly, trusted, knowledgeable) and used to feel i was in good hands no matter who I worked with. Now, I have no reason to travel 15 miles out of my way and pay upscale prices for what I can get at my local strip mall. I'm terribly disappointed and looking for new salon. So hard when you really want to like a place, especially one run by women. Been here 4-5 times. Inconsistent for it's price tag, and often painful. The first 2 times I had Joan who's cool. I learned to book thru their website. 3rd time with Joan again. Unsure what happened but I left with my nails looking so bad I came back the following day and Thu redid my hands for free. One busy day Latoya did my pedicure. This was when I first encountered pain. After pulling my foot back a few times Latoya asked if I was sensitive to which I said yes hoping she'd lower the pressure. 2 weeks later I must add my toes still look great but my feet know not to go near Latoya again. Most recent, I booked with Thu, trying to ensure I'd be safe just for a manicure. Thu had motivated me to try dip polish from gel polish, more money. Thu called and asked me to arrive 15 min late because it was busy. I did. After waiting another 15 minutes I had nail remover on my hands to soak. 55 minutes later Joan was free to take off my previous polish. Then Thu told me Latoya would do my appointment manicure. My heart dropped because the inside of my left foot won't ever forget Latoya. At this point I've been there over an hour and I just want to leave with nails done. I still wish after the polish was off that I just walked out. My back was aching so badly from that prolonged chair sitting. I beat myself up the whole way home for suffering only to get my hands cut up for someone else's business and money. In closing, I'll add I'm leaving this review after soaking my fingers in hydrogen peroxide to ensure the wounds and cuticles heal properly. It's the first thing I did when I got home, and before I went to sleep for the night. Many are still swollen and red. Feeling slightly better than the instant burning and torn skin sensations from that dip manicure. I had had dip polish in the past, just not at this place. Latoya told me I was supposed to feel that. I work with my hands and even if I didn't, pain is pain. As I left I tipped Joan and Latoya because after 2 hours they were the ones that handled me and got me out. Latoya did apologize to me as I left. Who knows how long I would have sat there regardless of my appointment, I don't think my body and mind could have hung on for much longer. Money is money but if you take in folks off the street prior to your booked appointments than you don't respect appointments! The staff handles the chaos well in front of the clients! I wish I can say I'd go back, that they valued my money, however, even after all that, I waited to make my decision at check out. I wanted to see if my flexibility and patience earned me anything. It hadn't. Saddened I never had service with Kourtnee, who comes off very knowledgeable. I wish them nothing but success, but I will not return. read more

Ugh honestly wanted to love this place - I even gave it two tries, but both have been somewhat disappointing. Here's why: They overbook themselves and then rush your treatments. Both times my pedicures were much shorter than online said they would be, which leads me to wonder whether it was just rushed or steps were left out. Super disappointing, because coming here is a treat for myself and an opportunity to relax. Being rushed and basically kicked out for the next person really sucks. Stopped in on last Monday and was treated to a lovely pedicure by Kourtnee. I've only ever had my feet done thrice in my life and I have to say that it's mostly because I never find it to be relaxing... she's changed my mind about that! She was gentle with my feet and got them super smooth. I'll be getting my feet done monthly now! Thu brought my brows back to life and I so appreciate that she kept them on the thicker side! She's also incredibly sweet and I have to point out that while their prices might be a tad bit higher, they use clean ingredient products, they're in the neighborhood and they do have specials Monday-Wednesday! I have been looking for a new nail place since my favorite person of 7 years was laid off because of Covid. I've tried several places and haven't been happy. I found Fiona after looking on Yelp. They are AWESOME. Lots of little extras that just set them apart from the rest. The atmosphere feels very upscale. Huge comfy chairs, a nail bar, great scrubs and add ons. They were kind enough to get me in last minute and went above and beyond to get me a mani while getting my pedi just so I didn't have to come back (as their schedule didn't have the time for both when I called). Great job post COVID making me feel safe while getting my nails done - having plexiglass on the nail bar, cleaning stations thoroughly after customers, apt only, and limited amount of people. They do a homemade sugar scrub and stone massage standard! Most amazing part is my nails, I've had just regular polish for 3 weeks now and they are just now starting to chip. We'll let me start by saying that this was not my first manicure or pedicure. I have lived in the area for a long time & decided to give this place a try. HUGE MISTAKE. Lan was the tech that I ended up with. The polish is so uneven. A kindergartener could have done it. After my pedi, I sat for over 40 minutes using their dryer for the mani to dry. The polish smudges before I left the shopping center. I went back to show them & they were so rude. When I returned for the polish to be done over, Alan was very rude & the same thing happened, the polish is not smooth. What a nightmare. I wasted my time and money on this place & will continue with my regular manicurists. It's worth a drive out of the neighborhood for courtesy and good service. My advice to Fiona -- go shopping for fresh polish. Using thinner in clumpy OPI bottles isn't doing the job. read more

I just moved back to Silver Spring and was looking for a new nail place and was not at all disappointed by Fiona's nail spa. The technicians there are lovely, professional and doing amazing job. I am not exaggerating when I say I had the best pedicure of my life there. In addition my acrylics were done exactly how I like them, without having to give much direction at all. I highly recommend checking Fiona's out, Even when I broke a nail they got me in quickly and were able to get it fixed and have me back on my way without much fuss. I had a massage with Kati today. I was really looking forward to a relaxing experience, but instead I had the following experience...she didn't introduce herself and when I asked her for her name after I introduced myself she said it as she walked away...I got under the covers on the table (noticed that there was a stain on the sheets and the towel on the head rest smelled like chemicals) and then she proceeded to take the sheet off as I lay there on my stomach totally naked and didn't check in with me to ask if I was comfortable with that...the massage was fine (yes, I've much had better) but the music from her iphone kept going on and off and I noticed she was massaging me with one hand and I realized that she was texting or reading from her phone WHILE she was massaging me and every time she put the phone down the music went back on and I felt two hands again...she took a call from her husband during the massage and has a full on convo with him WHILE she was massaging me with one hand (and yes, I was still lying there totally naked not covered up at all!)...she tried to sell me on extending my 60 minute massage to 75 or 90 minutes...she never said goodbye after the session was over. This place is near my home so I was looking forward to supporting a small neighborhood business, but I won't be booking a massage here again. I think they can do better. read more

The women who work at Fiona Nail lounge are terrific. My frIend and I had mani-pedis the day after thanksgiving and the sugar scrubs were lovely and the care they took with our polish was excellent. I generally prefer nail salons with back massage chairs and Fiona doesn't have those, but the good service makes up for that. More expensive than a cheap nail salon, but worth it. read more

AWESOME! I wish I could add more stars to my review. I have been going to see Thu for at least 4-5 years and she always does a great job. When I heard she opened her own shop in Silver Spring, down the street from where I ended up moving, I was so relieved. Not only does she do my hands and feet with a smile, she sings while she does my waxing to try and distract me from the pain lol. I have excess hair growth on my lip/chin, and Thu always takes the time to make sure every hair is gone, without charging me extra for something I can't control. The salon atmosphere is calm and relaxing, with soft music often playing in the background. There are a lot of colors to choose from and an array of nail services, such as dip powder. As long as I am living in Silver Spring I will always come back to see Thu! Highly recommend! read more

DO NOT GET A MASSAGE HERE. I wish I read thee other review because ironically enough I had a similar experience! This massage was priced high enough that you'd expect a certain level of etiquette. As a massage therapist myself, I know more than others what a quality massage is like. Similar to the other review, the sheets were questionable on cleanliness. I lifted it up and it didn't look clean underneath but I gave them the benefit of the doubt that my top sheet was clean. In addition, she talked during massage which I don't like, that may be appropriate in a manicure, but not an $80+ massage. The massage wasn't exceptional. It was good because the hot stones, but I didn't feel very relaxed b/c of the way she was touching me. It was stiff. She's not a natural healer. During the massage she offered me an eyebrow waxing service, and I was thinking she was asking if I wanted her to massage my brows b/c I couldn't imagine she was interrupting the massage to offer me a service I didn't come for. At the end, 10 minutes before we were to finish, she called her husband to come pick her up. The lack of professionalism was appalling, and when I read thee other review and saw she did that with someone else I see she must not realize how truly inappropriate of a thing that is to do, and will probably do it again! When we finished, she seemed expecting of a tip, and while I would have given her one if my experience was better, she definitely didn't deserve it. As I left and said thank you and good night she was silent, disinterested, and ignored me into her phone. Horrible service! They need to get someone new. Go somewhere else for quality therapeutic relaxation and good customer service. I am genuinely disappointed. read more
