I have been a client for a long time but the professionalism and care about clients has substantially decreased recently. For example, I made an appointment over a week in advance to get manicures and pedicures with my young daughters. When we arrived on time, they had our appointment on the books, but sat us separately and didn't even give me the right service. The technician was very nice and the facility is clean, but their polish is old. I got a gel manicure for an event and it was peeling off within two days, despite being careful. Five days later it's almost all gone. Disappointing to have gel last a shorter time than regular polish. read more

*UPDATE ...AFTER that- I go to checkout, and I explain to Cindy, she knows she's wrong for that mess. Her manager comes up and tries to make excuses (like that's how we massage here, w/wet toenails, while I sat and watched the lady next to me get a full massage w/out any toenail polish on. (I can't STANDDDDDD liars) and when I say she didn't even do the 15min massage, she says YES SHE DID- while Cindy is sitting there telling her she didn't! TRASH. (Star docked for that. It would be negative stars if I could). Customer service is clearly not the priority here. I'm so annoyed I'm literally grinding my teeth. I SO wanted to have the experience others seemed to have. I really needed this relaxation bc it's been a really rough week and my body is beat UP. Instead I got a quickie express pedicure after being upsold a spa pedicure bc the nail tech was in a hurry. If she needed to leave, I would've preferred she not take me on as a customer and let the other available techs service me. Instead, what I got was compliments on how I'd been maintaining my feet and a rush job. She even put the polish on WHILE the mask was on my legs and after I asked, "so we're skipping the massage, huh?" She then proceeded to try to massage my feet with wet nail polish on. Like in what world does one get a foot massage that skips the toes (bc you can't massage wet toe nails). I could feel the extra tension building in my shoulders over the blatant lack of regard for the service being provided to the customer. I literally finished BEFORE folks who'd come in before me and I ordered the longest pedicure. HOW SWAY?? Then she said, "I'm not going to charge you for the spa pedicure." Well DUH. I'm not sure why she thought that needed clarification bc I'm not paying for something you didn't do. After the rush job, she grabs my shoes to take me to the front after I tell her leave them bc I'm not running to the drying station at warp speed, and I get there and can't find my shoes bc she's in someone else's convo. Of course she tried to hop over my shoulder and get payment quickly. I'm not going to be rushed through the rest of this experience. I know she's on it waiting for that tip- she will wait until the second coming bc this was below lackluster. Pros: she was nice- even while pushing me around. The paint job seems neat. I feel like she would give decent service if she wasn't trying to blow out the door. She cut my nails the way I like. Getting a pedicure is a form of self-care and a treat. I don't feel treated. In fact, I feel robbed of what could've and should've been a very relaxing experience. I would come again, but def with someone else. read more

Honestly if it wasn't for Jackie being amazing I wouldn't have given a thought to even 3 stars. Loan is incredibly rude. I went to get my brows done (waxed) and I asked for her to keep the shape but make an arch and of course slim them down. What did she do? Just did a small amount and did a clean up. Not anything I was asking. I asked her to do more but she did a tiny. This isn't my first time having Loan. She has been such a brat to me in the past. I honestly think that she doesn't think I tip high as a white person would but I would because I know these women work hard at their job-- except her. I tip Jackie incredible because she is perfect at her job. Jackie is personable, Loan is not. I wish Loan would take her prejudging attitude out. My brows look so dumb, it looks like barely anything happened and they charged me $13 for it. read more

So happy I found this place!! Needed to go to the nail salon BADLY but my usual place was too far so I decided to give this place a try and I couldn't be happier. The ladies were so nice, Lawn (sp) took care of my mani/pedi/armpit wax and she couldn't haven't been any more thorough! She was super sweet and friendly. This was one of the best pedicures I've ever had. She really took her time and they use a razor which some places don't. When moving from the pedi chair to the nail station I messed up the polish and she was really nice about fixing it (sometimes employees at other places will have an attitude). The color I picked wasn't coming out exactly how I wanted on my nails and she worked With me until i was satisfied. Even though there were a good amount of people in there I never felt rushed or like she was just trying to get me out the way! I will definitely be back. The only thing I wasn't in love with was that they don't use liners in the pedi tubs but I watch another lady sanitize a tub when she was finished with her client. Stopped by Relaxed on Saturday afternoon for a quick manicure and eyebrow wax. I only had to wait a couple of minutes, despite not having an appointment. My technician did a great job on my gel manicure. It was pretty no-frills, but they turned out nicely. I was also awkwardly staring at the powder manicure happening next to me the whole time, as I'd never seen one before, and those nails looked great too. I usually don't write reviews but I just left so unsatisfied and I'm not even sure if the lady cared, I've come here to get my nails done a good couple of times since I live around the area and I haven't really had a problem with them everyone that has helped me before have been amazing and so nice to me Today I went to get a gel manicure and was helped by Sue...... never have I had my old gel polish taken off so rough she filed my nails and wrapped them in foil with acetone and only let it soak for 3 mins before she took the foil off, scraped my nails with a pusher then filed really hard to the point where my nail beds were heating up and hurting, just to add more acetone and let it soak for 2 more mins and repeat everything, I flinched a few times and softly told her "I'm sorry my nails are a bit thin and the file won't help, maybe just soak them" she filed the next few gently before going back to being so rough, my left ring fingernail is so sore and sensitive now and she broke the side of my right thumbnail by buffing the tip so hard we had to put nail glue, and my pinky's are burning anyways the final product some nails came out looking really nice and the others are all bumpy, sloppy around my cuticle, and some have air bubbles. read more

I had SUCH a great experience at Relaxed Nails and Spa yesterday! I was on Connecticut Ave and pretty bummed because my normal nail spa was booked and I really needed my nails and wax done for vacation today! I passed by Relaxed Nails and Spa and thought hmm... maybe? So I went on Yelp and saw pretty good reviews, but mixed. I decided to take a chance. Jackie did my eyebrow and bikini wax. I am PICKY and I was 100% satisfied. It was the least painful wax I've ever gotten and she used a milk chocolate for sensitive skin wax! My eyebrows were perfect. She ACTUALLY LISTENED to me when I said keep them thick! Mindy did my gel mani and pedi. A million coats later I doubt this is ever coming off lol!! She was attentive to my cuticles/nail shape and did a GREAT job with both. The salon is very clean and thankfully NOT loud with the nail techs talking the whole time. Tips are cash only (there's an ATM in there) and prices are decent. I'll def go back, esp for the bikini wax. read more

I came in here for the first time last week to get a gel manicure. It was NOT worth the money. From the start my manicurist was rushing, and it's not like there was a line of people waiting. I was one of the few customers in the salon. She hardly pushed back or cut hangnails around my cuticles. Then, her paint job was sloppy! She got paint on my cuticles, and even my skin. I always request 3 coats for gel manicures because I often choose light colors, and I hate being able to see through the final coat. So similar to other places, once she did the 2 coats, I asked if I could have a 3rd. She acted annoyed, and went about doing the 3rd in a sloppy fashion. I could tell during the appointment that I would be disappointed with this manicure. And that has certainly been the case - less than one week later I have several hangnails, the job looks so sloppy with the paint coming off the sides of my nails, and a couple of nails have already chipped!! I have NEVER had a chip in a gel manicure until at least the 3rd week in. And I always get 3 coats, and I have had more than 20 gel manicures at various salons at this point. Very disappointing. Even though this location is convenient for me, I won't be back. read more

They have one of the biggest gel nail polish collections I've seen at salons. They don't except tips via credit card but they do have an atm in store. I was excited to learn a new nail place was opening up in Chevy Chase and have gone there four times since it opened early this year. I've been there for 2 pedicures, 1 manicure, 1 gel full set and 1 gel fill-in. The space is nice, clean and all of the staff are incredibly friendly. The owner who had a major presence when they first opened hasn't been there as much and I've noticed a change. They accept appointments but walk-ins are welcomed with a bit of a wait. I was disappointed today when I went in for a gel nail fill-in. Doan did my nails and was very meticulous until she got too close to my nailbed not one, not two, but three times, causing bleeding on 2 fingers on my right hand and 1 finger on my left. She apologized but that didn't stop the bleeding. It was so bad on my left hand that even after I washed my hands, she had to apply antiseptic twice and it was still bleeding. At that point, I was about to say this is enough but it finally stopped so she proceeded to do my gel french manicure. When it came time to the hand massage, she said I was done. She must have seen my confused look so she asked if I wanted lotion. She literally put a dab of lotion on each hand and was like you're all set. No massage? I've never gotten my nails done and not had a least a 1 minute hand massage at the end. When I checked out it was $45. ($25 for the fill-in, $15 for the gel color, and $5 for the french). Pretty sure I've never spent less than $40 there. It's definitely not the most reasonable. I'm pretty sure I only go there because of convenience. After today's experience, I'm not sure if I'll be back. read more

They opened over a year ago in the neighborhood, and I got an email offering a free manicure, which I had never used. I wanted to treat myself with a manicure and a pedicure, and the sign on the door said walk ins welcome. And YES they were, though the lady who walked in behind me had a half hour wait. First of all, I am a guy, so I do not want to hear all the local gossip and chatter, there was none of that. The nail technician went to work and while it seemed like she was fast compared to other mani-pedi's I have had, she did a great job. First the pedicure, then the manicure, I was all done within an hour. Then the price, it was half of what I would have paid for one service at one of the fancy Men's salon's here in DC. And my free manicure coupon worked, so it was a total win! Today a day later my nails look terrific. I got a regular mani ($17) at Relaxed Nails & Spa. It was a basic mani, nothing special, but nothing to complain about. I didn't get a pedi because I didn't need one, but a mani/pedi is $43. I might go back to try it out in the future. I like how the place is clean and simple. The fans are integrated into the tables which helps to not clutter the table tops. From the storefront, it might seem like the place is always empty, but it's not! The pedicure massage chairs are in the back, so if it's empty up front, they are probably busy with pedicures in the back. The staff and clients are nice as well. I had a pleasant time, good conversation, and no complaints. This is a solid place. read more

I adore Lily, who gave me my first pedicure! I went in to get a pedicure and a manicure and I was extremely happy. Lily was sweet and friendly and more than willing to engage in conversation with me. The pedicure and manicure stations are both neat, clean, and sanitary and the pedicure stations have massage chairs to make your experience all the more amazing. You also get offered your choice of beverages, which is fabulous! The job they do is quality. It doesn't look like somebody just slapped some polish on your hands and let you go, the coats are even and the paint didn't chip on my nails for over a week. I'm sure it would have lasted longer if I hadn't had to remove the polish for a performance. The atmosphere inside is great, but I strongly recommend making an appointment. There aren't a slough of technicians sitting around idly, so if you come in without an appointment you may have to wait 15-20 minutes or more. I especially love that there aren't any weird, loud noises coming from 100 TVs or a radio that we can't see. And while I was there I saw a handful of mothers coming in with their children and the technicians were equally as accommodating of the children as they were of the adult customers. I started going here about a year and a half ago. They were really good and really affordable so I kept going. Something has happened in the last 4 months or so where they've gone down hill. They keep screwing up about every other time I go in there. It's like either they don't hear what you say or don't care. The french gel manicure I wanted got totally screwed up with white tips uneven and spots of the white on the pink part. This last time I told her I didn't want her to cut them I wanted them long and I prefer rounded tips. Next thing I know they're short and square after I spent WEEKS growing my nails out after the last bad experience. I'm done. read more
