09/30/24... Back again! Still love this place. We started with the charred cauliflower (medjool dates, harissa tahini, dill, mint, pistachio) as an appetizer. SO good I 'googled' the recipe and am going to try it tomorrow. My wife had the Lasagna bolognese, which she loved... as did I enjoy my Thai curry bowl again, this time with their Nashville crispy chicken (air fried). (Would have liked a bit more curry in the dish, but it won't stop me from ordering again. A glass of Sauvignon blanc and great service... good to go! read more

We came here as a large group with a bunch of small kids. The restaurant was very accommodating and patient with the kids. Its got a modern kitchen feel with a nice outdoor seating area as well. For a Saturday night it was relatively empty. I started with the pineapple jalapeños margarita. It was well made and definitely a strong drink. We ordered the cauliflower app. It was dressed in a boom boom like sauce and had a nice sweetness from the dates. The kids enjoyed the sour dough pizza and the red sauce pasta. They should offer more for the kids menu like a side and drink like other restaurants do. I got the vegan burger. They were able to switch out the vegan cheese for regular one since im not a fan of vegan cheese. It was a double patty made of beet, mushroom and walnuts. It was a hearty and healthy burger but I wish the jalapeño sauce was a bit spicier. The accompanying fries were ok and I wasn't really a fan of the side sauce. The others said the guacamole was good. There wasn't much left over so id say our group enjoyed the meal. I wish they would be quicker with the service and understand that kids meals should come out before or during starters. read more

True food never disappoints! I wrote a review a year ago and I had to write another one. This restaurant is so consistent with their customer service and food. I had Adriel as my server during my recent visit and he's great! You can tell that he really knows the menu and cares about the customers experience. I had the chicken parmesan and it was delicious! I also had a side of mashed potatoes and it's honestly the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. I definitely recommend dining here, it's always a good experience! read more

Was pleasantly surprised at this renewed Hackensack True Food. The portion size is back to its original size and delicious with a nicely spice to the dish. The Chinese chicken salad was crispy but the chicken pieces themselves a bit too small (chopped) for my taste. It would make a better warm day meal (I had it in a cold day) and felt the chill. The passion fruit tea is also a treat and a bit tart but very livens up the taste buds. The service was excellent and the waiter friendly and attentive. Large restaurant space with a lot of natural light and polished wood tables. We came at a not busy time but still took a while to get our food. The burger was tasty but not worth $20. The potatoes were deeply overcooked, can't believe they charged extra for that side. The iced matcha was aesthetic but sweet. read more

I liked the corn soup and would order it again, although I wish they would use less pepper. I loved the Korean noodle bowl, especially the sweet potato glass noodles. Glad I requested the sauce on the side; I liked it but used it very sparingly; the dish has a lot of flavor without the sauce. The mushrooms tasted like they had been marinated in that sauce, and I wish they hadn't done that. I also wish they used less oil in the dish. Sweet potato hash is a winner. Very flavorful. Be careful while eating it; I pulled a 2" thin stem out of the dish that I assume was from herbs added to season the dish (thyme, perhaps?) Every time I order from true food kitchen, I must order the edamame dumplings. So good! But I like the dish better when I request the sauce on the side and I use very little. read more

I wish I had more pictures to share, however we ate all of em as soon as they were served. First time at True food, to meet some friends. Easy to get a reservation, friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of parking at the mall. I enjoyed the food, I would say the flavors are good, nothing extra ordinary. I was very impressed with this restaurant. I met a friend for lunch, and I was pleasantly surprised at the breadth and depth of the menu, plus healthy and vegetarian options. There is tons of parking as it's connected to a mall. The interior is bright and spacious with a large windows and lots of light. The ambience is festive and feels upscale. Wonderful place to have a business lunch. The service was great. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. When I asked the age old question "what's good" the server responded with specific dishes that they liked instead of saying that everything is good. I like that. The service really try to steer you to the right dish based on your preferences. The drinks menu is also really good and extensive. I had the bourbon cocktail and it was beautifully made. It did not taste Boosie and had a very nice flavor. The food itself is fantastic. We started with tuna, tostadas, which were fresh and delicious, and had a nice spice. This place is the only restaurant that is so healthy they don't even have soda... unbelievable and fantastic! This is the first restaurant in the area that I have been to that has managed to make a healthy restaurant delicious. The decor and ambiance is trendy, spacious, and modern; service is attentive and en pointe. This is the type of place that anyone can come to, which is what a restaurant should strive to be. Every dish we ordered was great. I normally don't order burgers but here, I did, and it was very good.
