Attended a birthday dinner here & everything was fantastic from start to finish. We were a party of 21 and were sat in the back, in a 'room' that could easily be used for a private event. I was asked to decorate for the guest of honor and the restaurant was very lenient in what was allowed. The reservation was for 6pm, they allowed me to come whenever I wanted to set up. The restaurant is already pretty well decorated. Carlos, who I believe is the manager, was great and provided us with a separate high top table for cards/gifts so not to further clutter the dinner table. Since we were a large party, we had a set menu of red chile chicken tacos, shrimp tacos & birria tacos - all 3 were delicious but the red chile chicken was my personal favorite. The service started off quick, although things slowed down once it got busier. The empanadas were well made but lacked flavor, and the nachos were nicely packed individually, though the portions could've been bigger. The drinks were decent too. When my wife didn't enjoy her drink, Chris swapped it out for another, not a delay! Great service from him and our server, Cheyla (sp?). Guac is a must here, as is the pomegranate margarita! We also enjoyed our enchilada selections tonight - mine carnitas, my wife's chicken. Both fresh, flavorful and delicious! The person who greeted me and my waitress were very pleasant and very professional. The food at this restaurant is very tasty. recipes are truly made with the best ingredients...balanced dishes, interesting combination of flavors, and they always have the same high quality. I really like the atmosphere because it's somewhere between very bright and medium light, which I enjoy. The decor is excellent. It's a huge place... I don't like feeling closed in. I haven't visited the ones in New York or other states yet, but I really like this one. Today I ordered shrimp ALAMBRES ( skewers) with a chipotle-mango sauce and on the side sautéed spinach with toasted sunflower seeds and clear raisins. The spinach didn't have excess oil and tasted delicious. The shrimp were medium-sized; fresh, not frozen. The overall flavor of the alambres was soft, but delicious; another side dish was creamy poblano-flavored rice: succulent!!! I paired it with a cucumber and Serrano-jalapeño peppers margarita, which was spicy, but I could handle it. Overall, everything was delicious; the service was excellent. The quality of the ingredients in the dishes remains very high. Atmosphere is very nice. There were few people, which is understandable because it's the middle of the week. The playlist was cool. We came here for lunch on a weekday or one of the first outings with our newborn child. It was a great place because the restaurant was not too busy for lunchtime during the week and the waitresses were very helpful and accommodating. We were able to sit and not be too close to other people. They did not rush us and the food was great. I started with a spicy cucumber margarita which was great. It didn't have any artificial flavor. We really enjoyed the empanadas and when we split the Steak and shrimp molcajete it was a fun interactive dish. On my way out I saw a sign that said that they have taco Tuesdays with the tacos half price. We will definitely be back. read more

We've eaten here a couple of times when we feel like Mexican food and it never disappoints. We always get the table side guacamole. They make it fresh in front of you and the flavor is always on point. If you don't like spicy definitely get the mild but if you can handle heat, get the spicy because there's a kick to it. My personal favorite dish here is the lobster Taquitos with a side of the street corn. It's like lobster salad in a taco and not many places have this. This time my husband got the roasted half chicken. He thought it was moist and flavorful. The mole sauce is what makes the chicken stand out. But don't get it if you're allergic to peanuts/nuts. Our server Alan was friendly and checked on us throughout the evening. The interior is nice but it can be a bit noisy on a Saturday nice. Overall, I would come back. read more

A bit on the pricey side for the food that they serve, BUTTTTT, most importantly, it was good. Our family came here for our annual Christmas Eve dinner at around 5:30 and, since we had a reservation, we were seated immediately. Although, the restaurant wasn't very crowded, so we probably could have easily snagged a cozy table even without the resy. The menu was filled with traditional Mexican favorites with their own twist, like, guac and chips, quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, seafood and meat entrees, etc. and I loved that there was so much to choose from. In fact, because so many menu items were so complex and comprised of so many ingredients, it felt like a homework assignment trying to read through each one, but better safe than sorry for those with any allergies. After we were seated, it took a bit of time for our waitress to finally tend to us and since we had waited for longer than anticipated we had our ENTIRE order ready to go, which consisted of: BIRRIA AND CHEESE EMPANADAS - Was an order of 3 empanadas and, honestly, I wasn't expecting much since it was "JUST" empanadas, but this might have been my favorite dish we ordered. I'm more used to empanadas served in the hole in the wall empanada shops in NYC, so was pleasantly surprised by these "fancier" empanadas. The empanadas were very crispy and the birria was nice and toasty, and, most importantly, tender, flavorful and super delicious. A MUST order. BAJA-STYLE FISH TACOS - Not sure what I was expecting, but I thought it was going to be better than it was. The fish was crispy, but it could have been much hotter and crispier still. It probably had to do with the slaw and tomatoes on top that softened the batter. Also, it was quite ordinary in that nothing about it really stood out to me. Not a major disappointment, but definitely could have been improved. TAMPIQUENA - This was my wife's entree and it absolutely looked much better than mine. The 10 oz. strip steak was juicy and cooked to our liking. There were also peppers and onions, guac and griddled queso fresco on the side, which were nice compliments. At $45, it was on the pricey side for a strip steak and not much else, but, nevertheless, it was good at least. KIDS CHICKEN QUESADILLA WITH FRIES, CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM, APPLE JUICE - Our kids kind of enjoyed this, but you just neverrrrr know with kids. Our son devoured his quesadilla, but, as expected, it was a pretty plain quesadilla with not much else since it's a kids meal. Also, the tacos and Tampiquena came with Mexican rice and refried beans and, I have to say it, I LOVEDDD the beans. Yes, it's just refried beans, BUTTTT the beans had the perfect consistency and weren't too clumpy. It was very easy to eat and I actually finished it all up. I really enjoyed it, which is funny considering it was probably the least expensive thing we got. On a side note, we did put in an order for the Guacamole en Molcajete Classic and our waitress, Valentina, noted it down, but the staff never brought it out. Definitely no fault of Valentina's since she noted the Guac, but she rightfully struck it from our bill when we informed her that it never arrived. Also, her service was fantastic throughout the evening as she was super friendly and accommodating for all of our requests. The food definitely is solid here and I get that it's 2024 and inflation is pinching everyone and every business, but the prices do feel a bit high here and I think that's one reason the restaurant isn't bustling to the max here like other restaurants with slightly lower prices. If the prices are lowered at some point in the future, we could see ourselves coming back. read more

The fries were a bit soggy but the chicken was great. However, took most of it home. -chicken quesadilla - this was a big hit. Everything was devoured. -tacos carnitas with rice and beans. Didn't love the rice and beans, but the tacos were on par! Definitely recommend. -quac - not my favorite. Under-salted and not enough lime juice. What i love about rosa mexicano is the table side guac prep ( although the last time we went it was under seasoned), and absolutely love the nachos! I get the meat free version and i have no idea how every chip is topped with the perfect amount of each ingredient and how every chip is crunchy ( the entire chip stays crispy) . The shrimp appetizer is also really good. The only thing im bummed about is that they use to have an option to order single small tacos ( $5 each) , which was perfect to go with the nacho plate ( which was a meal pretty much) and they discontinued that. An update - haven't been there since last year, and the chef may have changed. The menu has changed a bit, and the food has changed. A/C was also broken on the day we went - the back private room still was sort of cool, but very humid, but they were trying to cool it down with fans. Recipe and tastes are all much worse, now. Still has Taco Tuesday for 50% off, but the tacos went from $5 base to $6.50 now. Service still slow, but now that the food isn't as good as before, I will have to pass on going again. The original pork belly was a slice, crisped up and with the toppings. Now, it's just shredded pork with the toppings. The fish taco was about the same taste, but mayo overload! The steak taco was chopped up and dry. The mushroom taco - pass. What used to have wonderful umami flavor (if a little salty), felt just like leathery, water-boiled mushrooms. Sauce didn't have any flavor; not even salt. Terribly sad about it. The steak quesadilla (big portion of $18) was good, and chips hot and as many as you wanted. Rice and beans still good, but instead of a bowl for each person, came out with a small bowl for the table of each (one bowl of rice, one for beans). They also used to have a wonderful duck taco (very rich but tasty) and that's no longer on the menu. They have a grilled chicken taco now. read more

The service was OK nothing great but just OK. I will start off saying that the napkins were filthy. The lights were off and they were relying on the sunlight coming in, but once they close the shades, it was very dark in the restaurant. The guacamole prepared tableside was outrageous. We'd love that. The chips were stale and cold, but the salsa was good. I got the chicken quesadilla and it had a cream sauce all over them so they were very soggy and not easily transported when I took leftovers. I just looked at my photos from the last time I was here and the quesadillas were served differently and the tacos were so much bigger. My husband had the tacos and they were $6.50 each and they were the smallest things ever. First and most likely my last time coming here. I'll give it 3 stars because the food was edible just nothing I can see myself ever craving to come back for. We were seated very quickly and our server took some time to come over when we were one of three tables. When asking for recommendations on the menu it seemed the server just said whatever I was asking about was popular and everyone loves it. I ordered the blood orange frozen margarita with a sugar rim. It came out with salt and on the rocks. The free chips and salsa were delicious and honestly the highlight of my meal. I ordered there different types of tacos to see what is their speciality: Crispy shrimp tempura taco, grilled chicken breast taco, pork belly pibil taco. The shrimp was definitely too doughy and not fried long enough before being placed in the taco. The grilled chicken was moist and delicious but the overall presentation lacked flavor. The pork belly pibil I highly recommend. The pork was cooked just right and packed a delicious amount of flavor and paired perfectly with the pineapple. Also they have a taco Tuesday deal where they are half off which made it slightly better. My friend ordered the Roasted Chicken Suizas and fried ripe plantains with crema. He noted the chicken is either perfect or just average with this and today it hit perfect. The plantains were delicious even though we ordered two and only received one and had to have it removed off the bill at the end. Our server seemed to not really pay attention because once our food came out we had to flag him down for the bill. We were never checked on or asked for drink refills which was disappointing. Overall the meal was alright, service was definitely mediocre, and the screaming children at the table over really did not make the place wanting me to ever come back. read more

So the service could have been better. Tho at the end of our evening the manager come to with the recipe and was like what do you want to tip 20% 22% or 25%. It was a work party so it was okay but I was picking up the bill myself I don't think I would like to be called out like that in front of the guests. Overall get some guacamole and enjoy. read more

I always wanted to come by and unfortunately I was quite disappointed. After ordering, the server asked if I wanted some guacamole with the complimentary chips they already were serving. I said yes and got charged later $19. In retrospect, I should have asked if I was being charged. I just thought he was being nice since no one else was there. If I wanted to order, I would have when I already gave back the menu. Then the tres leches pancakes came out extremely burnt (look at picture) on the top and bottom so my mom could not eat most of the pancakes. When we asked about the burntness, the cook said it's burnt due to using cinnamon and sugar but that doesn't change the fact that it was burnt. It is customary in the food industry to provide some form of compensation but none was offered. Then when you have to pay, the server awkwardly stands there while looking to see how much you tip. The enchilada was ok not bad. I will not be back and would advise people to eat elsewhere. read more

TLDR: I will not be returning here. I recently re-visited Rosa Mexicano for lunch (not crowded, no excuses!). We both agreed the food was underwhelming. The flavors were mediocre at best and felt like fast food quality. We ordered the table side guacamole, birria tacos, and chicken tacos. The guacamole could have used more lime and we ordered "spicy" but didn't feel the heat. The portions were very small. Due to our disappointment, there was no need to even see a dessert menu. The service was poor as well. The man making the guacamole didn't verbalize anything, to confirm our order or to interact with us. The waitress never filled up the empty water glasses on the table. There is no need to go here for food truck quality despite the competitive menu prices. This was definitely the worst experience out of all of the times/locations I have visited this chain. The women's restroom also should've been maintained better. There are many other Mexican restaurants nearby that I would choose over this. read more

So for a special occasion a few weeks ago, I made a reservation for the two of us there. We drove over and parked in one of the parking decks at the Shops at Riverside. When we entered, we spoke to the host and she sat us at one of the tables near the window. Here's what we ordered: - Guacamole en Molcajete (double) - Pasilla Roasted Mushroom - shiitake, cremini and oyster mushrooms, chihuahua cheese and salsa verde sauce - Pork Carnitas de Cazuela - pork meat served in a cast iron grill that comes with a flight of 4 salsas and corn tortillas We had a good time - nice dinner, friendly service. One interesting thing here was that you can pay with your phone using the Toast app. So the food is good, but is pricey and smaller portions. There's the authenticity aspect to recognize, but you can get authentic Mexican cuisine for less. We were there for a specific reason - a special occasion and a nice way to remind my partner of a specific time in the City. Would I come back again on my own? Probably not. Being part of the Riverside Mall, coming in, I knew this restaurant was not going to be cheap, but was it worth its price? It was a pretty empty restaurant for a Saturday lunch when we walked in, only about 5 tables seated, which had me a little worried. Looking over the menu, they had a very focused selection, but not so little I consider it limited. While we perused the menu, there was free chips and salsa offered that we munched on with free refills. In the end, my party all got the cazuelas, either pork or beef. It came with a wide array of sides to pair with it, including succulent rice and beans, green salsa, gauc, pico de gallo, and sour cream. The pork was definitely more juicy then the beef, so I would recommend getting the pork. While the portions looked small, it really was a lot of food and we were stuffed leaving the restaurant. Overall, we had some delicious mexican food with the portion size making the price more reasonable ($26 for the pork cazuela), and the service was truly very attentive, regularly checking in, ensuring our glass was always full, and asking to help out in anyway. Overall, with the stellar service, low wait, and delicious food, I think this restaurant definitely deserves a 5/5! read more

Haven't been here since before covid. Went on 2/28/26 for dinner with my family. The menu is different but still good. Food is great, drinks are fantastic, but the service, the service we receive was outstanding!!! We had the honor of being served by a young lady named Skarlet. From food options, to drink choices to even letting us know what was the most spiciest food was. At one point I just put down my empty cup and I have no clue where she came from, but she was quick to ask if I wanted a refill. She was very hyped on the food choices we made and even let out a nice (let's gooooo)! Which my sone said was awesome. She was very attentive, extremely polite, and had a great attitude.
