The street is busy and it's on the corner easy to see! Stopped to Maggie's on Sunday afternoon. Located on the corner of Teaneck Rd, it's easy to find and there is street parking. Atmosphere: there is gospel music playing and a few tables and a counter area to eat. Now to the service and the food. Attitude!!! Definitely not friendly and we even added a tip at checkout. We ordered 2 meals and dined in. Meatloaf dinner with macaroni and cheese and collard greens, and a fried fish dinner with same sides. The meatloaf was a hunk of meat mixture with a runny liquid on top that tasted like ketchup. The collard greens were just ok, no seasoning and the macaroni was bland but salty, minimal cheese and was pale in color. The fried fish was cooked to order, the portion was decent and tasted good. Dinners come with cornbread. There are canned sodas and water available. Restroom wasn't clean, there was soap but no paper towels. read more

I live in New York, I have visited this establishment multiple times due to food always being great. Today I ordered online via toast tab and spent about 120 dollars on food. I drove the 45 mins home and noticed two of the orders are wrong. I called and had to leave a voicemail because no one picked up the phone this was approximately 3 o'clock. I call again at 647 a woman answer who was totally rude. I explained to her that I ordered online and that the staff at her store made my order wrong. She proceeds to tell me you have to call door dash or grub hub. And I hear laughing in the background. So I again explained to her what happen again . She tell me I have to come there. I tell her I'll come tomorrow. She takes my name and number and tells me she will call me. I ask for her name she says it's Velvet. Okay I'm no expert on southern cooking but I just love comfort food and this place delivered. My colleague recommended it as he has been coming for years. We were able to find some tables to sit at. I came here after a friend recommended getting food from here, so I decided to give it a try. I had got the vegetarian platter which includes 3 sides of your choice and cornbread. I originally asked for Mac & Cheese, Yams and Cabbage but they told me they don't have Cabbage. So I decided with getting Collard Greens. The other good reviews tricked me because I thought the food was going to be good. It is just ok. Taste was just ok, not that good. Two of the orders were a rib sandwich and a fish sandwich. The "sandwich" just came with the meat and two slices of bread, separately. I was shocked, to say the least. The fish sandwich didn't even come with bread! It was just 3 pieces of fish! Appalling. The service here is horrendous. I ordered online not long after they opened, and the estimated time of delivery was 11:45. However, the order did not arrive until 12:45, an additional hour later! Not only did the food arrive really late, two of the orders were missing! One of the dinner specials was missing, and another one they said was a seasonal item. But if it's a seasonal item, they need to take it off the menu! It sounded like they were making an excuse or trying to blame me for ordering the item, but how was I to know it was a seasonal item?!? I asked for a refund for the two missing items and the young girl who picked up the phone said they cannot refund it because I need to request the refund from the website. She was rude and had an attitude. I checked the website and there was nowhere to request a refund! It just said to call the restaurant for any issues with the order. This was on toasttab. So, I called the restaurant a second time and nobody picked up! I called a third time after a few minutes, and someone answered but the line went silent. At this point I'm really frustrated as anyone can understand. But I try calling a fourth time and finally someone answered. This time it was a different person, she sounded older. Recently, they relocated to Teaneck Road and there business appears to be Booming more now than ever. So let me entice you ....they are serving your grandmas Mac and cheese, cabbage from the garden, corn bread homemade...not Jiffy, collard greens, baked candy yams, baked chicken, falling off the bone ribs, flounder fish and top it off with there peach cobbler that will make you drool at the mouth....delicious! Meals are affordable, servings are pretty big enough for two people, and there are tables available so you can sit and enjoy your meal. First and foremost their address is different from what is posted in Yelp . Yelp says 172 State St but it is actually 1368 Teaneck Road. I guess they moved and didn't update anything. They updated their menu from before, since it cannot be found anywhere online I will have a picture with it. I ordered a chicken lunch meal and a fried chicken sandwich. First thing that I noticed (obviously ) was the appearance. The chicken sandwich was literally a fried chicken thigh with two slices of rye bread. I was shocked and couldn't help but laugh . I have heard of places that does this. But this was not specified over their menus or anything so it was a bit of a shock . The chicken itself ? Wasn't bad but wasn't great. It was juicy and had flavor but besides that it wasn't anything that gave it a unique taste over any other chicken around the area. The fact that it was chicken with trap pieces of bread didn't give it a distinction of flavor that would make you order it again, it's more of a I need something to eat on the way. The chicken lunch meal was pretty much the same but it came with rice and beans , it was still pretty good but like I said nothing special to keep coming back for. The food is damn good here and the owner is extremely nice. This is the only soul food place in the area. I have had almost everything on the menu and its all delicious. Every side dish is heaven, i cant reccomend this place enough. All meals come with cornbread and my god i wish i had the recipe because its the best i ever had.
