For entrees, my wife asked them to make an off-menu gnocchi bolognese and they obliged - and she was quite pleased with it. I had the gnocchi special with chunks of short rib - impossible to ever go wrong with anything with short rib! Very tasty! Our friends had a variety of pasta and veal dishes - the veal chop special was Wow! All enjoyed their choices. We skipped on dessert because everyone usually climbs into my SUV "bus" for ice cream somewhere nearby. The adventure continues! This is a rough business. It's so hard for a single restaurant to stay in business for this long but Eccola has stayed relevant in an uber-competitive North Jersey market. Eccola means "Here She Is!". The kids had filet mignon and it was fine, but nothing extraordinary. My Chilean sea bass, their signature dish, had no seasoning whatsoever and was jammed into this tiny serving pan. My wife enjoyed the bolognese. Service was excellent but our server was very cold and unfriendly. I suspect he's been there a long time and has become complacent. The owner stopped by most tables - a very nice touch. Bottom line, it's a nice place for a special occasion. The meatball sandwich was unbelievable! Loaded with meatballs on toasted bread with a delicious sauce, I loved it! There were so many meatballs, I had to eat some before I could eat the sandwich. The guy working behind the counter was very friendly. There were quite a few tables and it clearly looked like a lot of "regulars" here. I'm really glad I finally stopped here.
