Love it! Found this place by accident close to my hotel... enjoyed lunch here twice during my visit. I've tried the Greek salad, another house salad, and two different individual (small) pizzas. The service is quick, and the lovely woman working the register is friendly and welcoming--once the right music comes on, you'll see the chef enjoy himself and begin to dance while preparing orders. Well, my first time in Italy and I've only been to Rome so, I'm no expert of regional Italian fare. Having said that, I tried some Roman style pizza at another place and it was very bland and not cooked weak on top. The bottom however was really crunchy, which I liked a lot. I decided to try Napoli style and this spot was near the coliseum, had high marks, and best of all, a single euro in affordability woo hoo! I ordered the a small pepperoni and a small alabatcha or something like that (it had blackened pig cheek and onions). Man o man, they were both delicious and perfect sizes and only €4 each. They were cooked equally on top and bottom with a great char and the sauce had plenty of flavor, meaning salt and garlic and all the good Italian classic flavors. The pepperoni they used looked more like ham but had ten times the flavor of basic pepperoni. I love NYC pizza but this stuff was just as good, and that's saying something! Roman pizza on the other hand tasted like bland tomato sauce with little salt and flavors. Maybe I just had a bad Roman place but I've read a few reviews about Roman fare in general and it's not as flavorful as other locales according to those. But, when in Rome....eat Trieste pizza! read more

If you visit Rome. Do not miss this place. I've traveled to many cities in Italy and this place is by far the best pizza you'll ever have. The crust comes out with the perfect perfect crisp every single time! The flavor and taste is absolutely to die for. Every slice is so juicy and so soft and gooey on the top with a sturdy well cooked dough on the bottom. Crust is not too thick and not too thin. And the meat is soooo good. And while it may seem strange to recommend the potato chips, they are a must try, too. On the menu under fried, salt & pepper. They were divine. They offer both local flavors like potato and olives and your American pepperoni pizza. I also love their customer service! Their Tiramisu is very good- I don't like the rum flavor of traditional ones and this didn't have that. Overall great pizza. The restaurant is tiny but charming and located on a quiet street. The pizzas - Trieste has perfected the crust: crispy on the edges and slightly chewy. It held up well under the toppings. We tried the "white pizza" made with olive oil and the red sauce and both were excellent. The red sauce was tangy and fresh. Herbs were added sparingly and all of the flavors melded perfectly. Okay okay okay, so I'm in Rome tossing around 5 stars like nobody's business you say?! Well guess what, they all deserve it! The guy at the counter was energetic, good at his job, loved his job, and was fantastic to order from (in English). They have some ready made individual pizzas at lunch time already sitting out during the rush and some lunch specials. $8 euro for pizza, salad and water. I got the pizza combo 1: i got the spinach/sausage pizza which will forever make me cry when I have to order pizza back in the US. Simple, flavorful, no pizza sauce, thin crust just the right mix of soft, chewy, and toasty, oily, garlicky goodness for my belly. Sausage amazing, spinach just enough. Now the salad looked suspect to my American mind with some mixed greens, black rice, and cheese but it was one of the most refreshing and delicious salads I've ever had and I'm a salad fanatic. No dressing, just greens, rice, cheese, and maybe, just maybe...some lemon juice? Sitting: at first we thought there wasnt any, but to the left theres 2 small rooms with several chairs, a couple of floor cushions, and we just followed what we saw the locals doing, sitting with food in their laps and eating so when in Rome....I would've enjoyed standing up and eating this meal, but sitting in that little room was so cozy. We got a margarita, ham and potato, and 2 mushroom pizzas along with 4 drinks for a great deal of about 22 euros. Great deal, however, the price speaks for the pizzas.
