My husband and I had a just o.k experience. First let me say the atmosphere is lovely, the outdoor seating is a perfect place to spend a summer evening. The waitress was nice enough to start. We ordered wellfleet oysters and they didn't disappoint, so tasty. My husband had the fish tacos which he felt were over spiced but he liked them well enough. I ordered the seared scallops with eggplant and basil oil, what I got were perfectly seared scallops with blackened peppers and onions in some sauce that tasted like franks and beans. I was so taken aback by the flavor I asked my husband to try and he agreed, franks and beans. It is so confusing why anyone would want to dumb down the flavor of a beautifully seared scallop, such a shame. Needless to say I will be avoiding that dish in the future. Now to talk about the service, it started off well but by the second round of drinks I was made to wait about 20 minutes for a glass of wine while my husband already had his beer. This through off the timing of our meal enough that I didn't have the opportunity to finish my glass before we needed to leave. Overall it wasn't worth the price tag. I give it 3 stars for the atmosphere and the oysters. Next time we will stick to drinks and the raw bar. read more

So, so, so glad Trident is surviving in the midst of the pandemic - rightfully so. The food is some of the best you can find on the South Shore (do NOT miss the tuna poke!), the cocktails are on point, the atmosphere is beautiful and the service is next to none. Rotted spoiled seafood served with outrageously bad service. My friend and I went there Saturday night at 6:30 for dinner. We were seated on the patio and ordered a half dozen oysters and an order of steamers, and cocktails to start. The oysters were presented in a messy disarray on a huge platter yet tasted fine. 20 minutes passed, the waitress had not returned. The streamers were finally served and the waitress quickly left. The odor was extremely strong and putrid! Immediately a man at a table next to us said, "Don't eat that; it's rotten." Then the other three people at his table commented on how awful it smelled. I thought I'd be sick from the stench. The waitress was not in sight. My friend went inside the restaurant and asked a waiter to take the steamers away. The smell lingered on the patio. The waitress arrived and bluntly asked if we'd like to order something else. My friend asked for the check. 15-20 minutes passed and no check arrived. I went to the hostess, explained what happened, and asked for the check so we could leave. She said she'd send someone to the table. Someone arrived and apologized for the wait and handed us a check for $46. Another 15 minutes passed without anyone taking out credit card so we brought it to the hostess. The entire experience was a disaster. How could anyone plate seafood so smelly rotten then send it out of the kitchen to be served? How could a waitress place it on a customer's table? Why didn't we receive an apology? Why didn't the hostess send the manager to speak to us? The bill did not even reflect a free drink. We went for dinner last night and the hostess seemed annoyed that we asked for a table at the very far end of the restaurant because the bar was busy. Our table ended up being very quiet and the food was excellent!!! Our server also seemed put out by our simple requests. We ordered the brussel sprouts after our meal. Unlike what REM would lead you to believe, It's not the end of the world as we know it. I feel fine. I'm not an extreme thrill seeker but I do enjoy a challenge. Thou shall'nt be timid when dining with me. Sure Trident Galley and Raw Bar in Hingham had regular people food, but why? We ( quite King-like ) started with oysters from Chatham and Wellfleet. Then more from the west coast. Big and Salty vs. Delicate and Sweet. Daringly we tried the Daily Ceviche ( seafood cooked in citrus) which had scallops shrimp and octopus. Tender and lemony with a slight kick. The Duck Liver Pate came next. It was creamy and came with a sour apple sweet topping to schmear on quality toasted bread. Then out came the Cajun Shrimp with Grtits. The cheesy creamy grits chilled out the heat on the shrimp. The best was saved for last. Definitely not for the faint of heart the Roasted Bone Marrow with pickled vegetables and fried quail egg.was scrumptious. It came with a garnish of short ribs and more quality bread. My friends and I went here for father's day with our children, all under 3 years old . We were looking forward to it and unfortunately did not have a pleasant experience. When we arrived the hostess seemed very confused and overwhelmed which was a little bit of a turn off from the beginning. We were seated towards the back, next to the kitchen at a dirty table. The restaurant was very hot and no AC so sitting in the back next to the kitchen on a 85 degree day was a little uncomfortable. Since we were next to the kitchen we were able to see everything happening and the bus boy that was serving food was absolutely uncleanly. He never washed his hands, he was touching people's food after wiping off his sweat from his hair and constantly putting his hands in his pants. It was so disturbing. He served french fries to the kids and I asked him if it was hot and he picked up a fry from the bowl, rubbed it in his hands and said no they are not and then dropped it back in the bowl. I was in complete shock. I reported it to the manager along with everything else we had observed and he did not seem surprised. He was very apologetic and said he would speak to the server. The rest of our appetizers were served and they were very good but entrees were not that great, they lacked flavor and depth. When we got the bill the waiter messed up and charged us more for items and did give us a refund. I felt though the manager should have done a little more to try and improve the experience like send over drinks, free apps, take % off the bill or personally serve us our food. Honestly, I will never go back there. The sanitation procedures and process I witnessed was deplorable, especially in Covid times! read more

We also ordered: - Octopus - Shishito peppers - Patatas bravas - Fish tacos - Duck pate and cheeses - Cataplana stew - Creme brûlée Everything was really tasty but nothing really wowed. Server seemed a little aloof - messed up our wine glasses and forgot to put in an extra order of patatas bravas. My coworker and I went here tonight after eating at Alma Nove yesterday. Granted it's not on the water so outside seating isn't as beautiful. However, the food and drinks were spectacular! I had fried oysters and sweet potato gnocchi. Delicious! My coworker was raving about the chicken 2 ways and mushroom risotto. I also enjoyed a combo of caliente/red orange margarita. Yum!!! Service was attentive but our server wasn't overly friendly even when I complimented our meals. I realize this restaurant is young but an expanded menu down the road would bring in a 5 star rating. Visited for the first time for a recent brunch. Restaurant had a singer performing during brunch and I enjoyed it. It was enjoyable to have the music in the background without being overpowering. Started with an order of the avocado toast. I'm writing this review largely because of the avocado toast. It's not good. The avocado was mashed as you would guacamole and spread on the toast. It seems like they just mashed the avocado and added an enormous amount of diced onions and nothing else. The only flavor you got was the diced onions. Way, way too many diced onions. The toast was bad. Lukewarm & under toasted bread. I've only had avocado toast 1 or 2 times before, but at other restaurants it was delicious and creatively served with toppings such as honey, nuts and good bread. In my opinion Trident's avocado toast should be removed from the menu until they can improve it. For my brunch entree I had the lobster benedict. It was good and I enjoyed it. There was one odd thing. It was served on a rectangular plate that was too small for the dish. I had to cut carefully to avoid the food falling off the plate, which makes the eating experience less enjoyable. Odd choice of plate. I experience this with some regularity at restaurants, i.e. food being served on a plate too small to fit the dish. Leaves me scratching my head how the restaurant doesn't see this. Service was good. Minor thing, after washing my hands in the restroom there were no towels left to drive my hands nor a dryer. Good location and nice restaurant inside. While I was underwhelmed on my initial visit I'd try it again. read more

Great new restaurant in Hingham Shipyard! We really like the choice of small or big size serving/plate. We started with delicious and refreshing Pimm's Cup cocktails and Lobster & Crab Rangoon served with a delicious sauce. I had the grilled rosemary shrimp which were cooked perfection. I also ordered one of my favorites the Lobster Bisque. My husband had the small fried haddock which was good but could possibly been outshined by potatoes that came with it. For 3 days now I've been daydreaming about our date night last Saturday night at Trident G&R Bar! A casual, modern and comfortable spot in The Hingham Shipyard. The staff are all lovely and we always feel welcome. We did not have a rezee on a Saturday night (dumb move I know) but we were early due to having tix for a 9pm flick. No problem! One quick drink at the bar and our cozy high top was ready. My husband had an old fashioned and I tried the Fig Side Car!!! OMG. I thought I had only one favorite cocktail but alas now I have Two!!! This drink was perfection. Rich Fig infused Remy with lots of Lemon and a splash of ginger beer. Sooooo Delish The menu is plentiful but not overwhelming. Mainly small plates. Everything sounds great. Tons of seafood but choices for carnivores and Vegetarians alike. We started with the Spanish Octopus. We test this dish Everywhere we go. This one ranks up near the top. Tender, sizable, fresh and paired with baby fingerling potatoes and wilted greens!!! Next, I batted my eyelashes and asked if he wouldn't mind sharing the Trident shellfish tower! No argument so away we went. Jumbo shrimp cocktail, a dozen Wellfleet oysters, 6 little necks, lobster chunks, scallop ceviche, salmon tartar and Tuna Poke. Omg!!! As if that wasn't enough we shared their signature chocolate mousse with just one more Fig Side Car (that made 4 for me) We indulged for sure but you can come and share a few small plates and leave happy too. Great place for a group, just two or a quiet date for one. You always end up making friends at the bar anyway. Give this gem a try but save me some Octopus, my tower and a Side Car or two. Or three. Although I am local to the area, I have never had the chance to visit Trident Gallary and Raw Bar until this past Wednesday for an early Mother's Day dinner. Usually I prefer to take my parents to restaurants I'd been to before to make sure the overall experience would be pleasant, but the risk paid off as the dining experience meets and exceeds all of my expectations. To start, their cocktail menu offers a wide range of tastes and flavors. The Caliente Margarita in particular stood out for me as the spicy-ness is not common to find at many restaurants. The Vieux Carre is another favorite of mine being a very classic styled cocktail using rye, cognac, vermouth, benedictine and bitters as ingredients. For food, the options for small and large plate allowed me to try more than 1 entree. Between myself and my family, we had duck, fried oysters, lobsters, Clams, Mussels, all of which tasted fantastic. Next time I will be trying their raw bar. read more

We went to Trident lastnight for my birthday with several of my friends and had a fantastic time!!! The food was top notch and artistic. We had the large Charcuterie followed by the orange duck breast over a sweet potato crochet, some pork belly, all three desserts: chocolate mousse (which also served as my candle and awesome rendition of happy bday), créeme brûlée, and the baked apple crisp with maple marscapone. As for drinks they have an awesome selection of craft and local beers, made me a great Moscow Mule, serve La Posta Malbec and a drink called "Caliente". House infused jalepeno tequila margarita. I've always disliked spicy drinks but this one made me want more and more sips hence why I ordered it after tasting my friends. Great service, great vibe, awesome food and drinks and much needed addition to the shipyard. Definitely will be back!! read more

High price and small plates make for a below grade experience. Ok so we decided we needed to sit outside do to some fears of the virus thing. Thank god we did. There were 2 women sitting at the bar with no masks. Half the staff had theirs on wrong. Ready for this - the chef/cook had his on with his entire nose exposed!!! Really???? Oh and the outside music was so loud you literally couldn't hear someone 2 seats away. When we asked to ave them lower it they basically laughed at us. Let me start by saying the waiter was amazing. However the kitchen needs some work. Boyfriend and I both ordered the surf and turf, his came out with five shrimp mine with three. Asked for medium rare got rare to the point where it was almost blue. Mother in law got salmon over risotto. Rice tasted bland and wasn't risotto it tasted like minute rice that was overcooked. We had the best Brunch I have ever had! Started with some coffee and avacado toast which was on really good bread with a slight hint of soft/sweet onions. Then a couple oysters and a bloody marry. Oysters were fresh and bloody mary was not too spicy but delicious. Then I had the duck confit hash with poached eggs. The veggies were perfectly caramelized and the little bit of duck in there was not too fatty and melt in your mouth, and I mean it was perfect and I actually find I often don't enjoy duck because it can be too fatty, but this was just perfect (I know I'm saying that too much but it was) with the poached eggs. Wife had the French toast and it was delicious, thick bread that was thinly crusted on the outside and custardy and moist on the in. We over ate and it was the only thing we had today and Im still stuffed but so worth it. So excited knowing we have this near by. They have music 2-5 on Sundays, we missed it but it would be a cool atmosphere to see some music. Will definitely be back. read more

We went to Trident to try a new place for my husband's birthday dinner because we had seen that it was new spot on Phantom Gourmet and that it had Trillium beer on tap. We're a big fan of sharing small plates (and have been interested in finding a new tapas style restaurant since Passport in Weymouth Lansing closed). The beer selection was fantastic and we noticed that the cocktail menu looked intriguing. We got six small plates including the cauliflower, lobster taco, duck confit, poke, lamb lollipop, and pork belly. I particularly liked the poke and pork belly. The cauliflower was ok but didn't have as much flavor as the other dishes. We finished with the creme brûlée, which my husband really enjoyed. We will definitely be back and may try their brunch! read more

Trident could be perfect, with a few tiny changes. I want to love this place- the lobsters sliders were perfection (pls bring them back!). Drinks and small plates are good. Somewhat standard, but okay. They are dog friendly, which is greatly appreciated. What I wish they could improve upon is the service. The servers were always polite, but completely inattentive. I've been there half a dozen times and have had to get up and find my server at least three times... not great. We've also had a few mistakes on orders. They've fixed them, when I've pointed it out but one was an allergen issue which we made very clear when we were seated. Overall, good, not great... yet. read more

You can clearly taste it and at first I second guessed myself because the bottle looks sealed but it's a sham.
