Visiting Trident Coffee for the first time was a memorable experience, offering a well-curated selection of beverages and a welcoming atmosphere. Located on the edge of the Sweetwater Reserve, the café enjoys a scenic and convenient setting, enhancing the overall appeal. Upon entering, the spacious layout and industrial aesthetic create an inviting ambiance, ideal for both casual visitors and those looking for a comfortable workspace. The menu boasts an impressive variety, with a strong focus on cold brews and nitro cold brews, alongside a selection of food items such as breakfast burritos and empanadas. Opting for the Midnight Vietnamese Coffee, I appreciated the thoughtful option of choosing between hot or cold milk--a small but significant detail in personalizing the experience. The coffee itself had a rich and balanced flavor, with the unique addition of MCT oil and charcoal powder complementing the espresso and condensed milk. However, the drink was served lukewarm (I opted for hot milk), which slightly diminished the overall enjoyment. While the quality of the coffee was commendable, the service left room for improvement. Customer engagement is a critical aspect of any café experience, and at times, the staff appeared more focused on socializing among themselves rather than providing attentive service. While my name was taken for the order, it was a pleasant surprise that the drinks were brought to the table rather than simply called out--though it was unclear if this was standard practice. Despite some service shortcomings, Trident Coffee offers a unique and worthwhile experience, particularly for those interested in specialty coffee. I would certainly return to explore more of their menu, particularly the breakfast burrito or empanadas, which feature grass-fed beef. With improved attentiveness in customer service, this café has the potential to elevate its reputation as a top-tier coffee destination. read more

What an amazing find! So first things first this is their brewery and Roaster location. They specialize in nitro cold brew which has become my favorite way to drink coffee. If you're a Expresso coffee drinker who adds a ton of milk and sugar this may not be the place for you. But that's ok just walk 50 feet in any direction till you hit the coffee shop with a green sign. For me I actually like the taste of coffee and drink it black most times. One thing I've noticed is with cold brew is more favors of the coffees come through, it's less acidic and has more caffeine then drip coffee. They have over a dozen different coffees from all around the world with different roast profiles. Just love what they're doing here, plus it's a family owned and operated. They're directly sourcing their green coffees, roasting in house (love that) so many coffee shops I end up at get their beans roasted by a third party or some off sight location. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I ordered their flight option where I got to pick any four. Had an organic Ethiopian which was a light roast, it had this amazingly great blueberry taste. A dark roast Peruvian great flavor. Ambrotos which was a medium roast Brazilian with MCT oil was super creamy and smooth. Lastly I had their Mexican Chiapas, medium roast brewed with chocolate cocoa powder, cinnamon and orange peel was also a new favorite. As for the location it's self well it's really cool and and the view and walk around bike way village was beautiful. Very excited I found this spot I love supporting local businesses and this one is doing it right. read more

Trident Coffee is absolutely fantastic--both the Imperial Beach and Coronado locations. I haven't been to the PB spot yet, but I have zero doubt it matches the same great quality (because the others are so good). What really stands out is the coffee itself: it's low acidic and incredibly delicious. It's the kind of coffee you can actually enjoy without that harsh after-feel. I also love that they make it easy to stay "health-minded" without sacrificing taste. They offer functional add-ins like creatine, collagen, MCT, ashwagandha, and more. Plus, the coffee boxes with adaptogens and nootropics are such a clever idea--like everything is curated for wellness from the start. And let's talk baked goods--almost all of them are gluten-free and keto, which alone is enough to make us come back again and again. The options make it feel like you don't have to compromise. The staff at both locations are also truly wonderful: friendly, welcoming, and ultra helpful every time. You can tell they care about their customers. On top of all that, Trident Coffee is a veteran-owned business and they even offer military discounts. Big respect. Hooah! read more

I discovered Trident Coffee while riding on the Bayshore Bikeway, and I am blown away by the quality of their beans and the deliciousness of their cold brew coffee. I highly recommend the "Son of a Son of a Sailor" (SSS) cold brew; it is truly exceptional. The flavor is bold and complex, with a smooth finish that leaves you wanting more. In addition to the delicious coffee, the service is top-notch. Jaryl, who helped me with my order, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This local coffee spot is living proof that cold brew isn't just a drink--it's a vibe. Their cold brew game? Unmatched. They've got unique flavors and fun ways to brew it that make your basic iced coffee feel like a thing of the past. It's like they know you deserve better. The décor is fresh, the logo is a whole mood, and the merch? You'll want to snag a hat or a tote just to flex. Plus, every location is perfectly perched by the beach, making it the ultimate grab-and-go situation for your solo strolls. But it's not an everyday thing--it's the coffee version of that friend you adore but only hang out with every once in a while. When you do? It's always a good time. read more

I asked for oat milk in my latte and it was a $1.50 upcharge, however I can taste the cardboardy type of aftertaste from it that I dislike from some oat milks. I can see the convenience of this drive through spot but not a place for me.

Not to mention their cute logo/branded design. We tried the ube, turon, and Island Way. You honestly cant go wrong! The ube drink was maybe our favorite. Creamy, well-balanced ube flavor not the artificial sweet syrup. The turon was also really good. Great banana and brown sugar flavor, and it tasted just like turon. I personally would've loved a bit more banana flavor, but still very good. Island Way was probably my favorite. I loved the coconut flavor, it wasn't overpowering and paired really nicely with the subtle macadamia nuttiness. Would definitely come back the next time we are in town!
