    Raspberry Cookie
    Jack M.

I had a nice Cafe Americano and a large raspberry cookie from this coffee shop at The Gym. The Americano was well made with just a touch of bitterness towards the end but not much. They put just the right amount of ice and milk in the Americano. The raspberry cookie, baked by a local baker, was very tasty. There was no holding back on the raspberry flavor. The lemon icing drizzled on top was good, too. The two young ladies behind the counter were very cool. They offered good conversation and were friendly. The coffee shop offers some inside seating and a very good amount of outside seating. Their baked goods are locally baked.

    Shredded Plastic in my Smoothie

Thirsty Thursday today ordered a mazapan smoothie kept getting plastic bits in my smoothie. Came home and filtered it and there was a bunch of shredded plastic. Not sure what it was from but seemed like a significant amount and I'm surprised it somehow made it into my smoothie.

As a matcha lover, I'm always on the lookout for good matcha drinks, and this place didn't disappoint. I ordered the iced Banana Matcha Cinnamon Latte, it started off tasting like a creamy banana smoothie (so good) but got a bit too sweet after a few sips. I went back and asked if they could make it less sweet, and the barista was super kind and happy to redo it. The remake was perfect, just as tasty but more balanced to my liking. Next time I'll know what to ask for. Great customer service and great menu selection. Can't wait to come back and try more!

This place is tiny but mighty! I been coming here now almost once a week as I have appointments twice a week around the corner from this coffee shop. And well, so far I've been in LOVE with their banana cinnamon matcha tea! It's amazing! You gotta try it out! I have tried some of their refrigerated meals, one of my favs is the rice with broccoli with chicken breast! Sounds simple but it's soooo sooo good! The broccoli is cooked with just the enough crunch but softness good, the rice is very yum, and the chicken breast... I need their recipe I've never had chicken breast so juicy and tender before! It's located in the heart of down town Chula Vista, right by a lot of medical offices, next to a gym Oh they've also had samples of banana bread... EXCUSE ME? These are amazing too!!! The staff is pretty friendly too, there's so me indoor seating and some outdoor seating if you prefer to enjoy your goodies al fresco! Love this place!

Cute little coffee café with both street (metered) and structural parking available. Unfortunately, the service wasn't the friendliest. It took a while for someone to take my order, and when they finally did, they seemed distracted chatting with someone else--which led to my order being incorrect. I asked for an iced vanilla latte with breve (half & half), but received a hot version instead. Also worth noting: they charge extra for breve, which not all cafés do. Prices are a bit on the higher side. They do offer pre-made meals from an outside meal prep company--I grabbed two, and they were actually pretty good. We also tried the blueberry and lemon poppy muffins, both of which were tasty. There's plenty of indoor seating and a nice patio area if you want to sit outside.

Great selection for protein drinks and food after a workout. Pb OG is delicious and not too sugary sweet.

We tried their food for the Taste of Third event. It was avocado toast and a peanut butter protein drink which we did not try due to an allergy. The toast was good! Servers were friendly! The place looks cute. I might be back.

Stopped by here a few days ago for protein shake. The protein shake was delicious but the customer service was meh. No greeting while you walk in, baristas are too busy socializing with non customers (friends). I guess some regulars walked in and then the cashier was friendlier and acknowledged them. Either way brush up on customer service and this place would be a bit better. Location is convenient with plenty of parking available (either on the street or lot adjacent to them).

This is a small cafe adjacent to the Chula Vista location of The Gym (TG), hence the name TG Cafe. It's a convenient pit stop for those who are members. Parking out front on 3rd Ave is metered so you will have to find a side street further away if you don't want to pay. The inside does not have much seating, but there is an outdoor patio to the south of the building where you can sit and relax al fresco. The menu was mainly beverages with nine styles of coffee and five types of protein smoothies/shakes. Food was limited to avocado toast, bagels, and pastries. The OG PB was my smoothie choice which had almond milk, banana, peanut butter, and chocolate protein. These protein smoothies/shakes are to be consumed immediately before or after a workout in order to aid in muscle recovery. In my case, I just wanted to sample one to compare to a similar product elsewhere. The taste and size of the drink were on par with the competition.

This place is right next to the gym, which is super convenient. Service was a little slow as there was only one person working. they have a nice menu and have premade meal preps available for purchase in the fridge. We ordered the brotein, OG PB, and the taro protein shakes. They all had really great flavor. I love how the peanut butter is spread onto the cup. They're pretty expensive for a shake. We paid around $9/shake. Worth a try for sure if you're in the area!

Amazing Coffee and amazing customer service from the whole crew! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great coffee joint with amazing coffee, protein shakes, sandwiches, and more. Overall a super chill place to grab a great cup of coffee and hang out with friends.

Banana Peanut Butter Protein shake, and Eggnog latte (both really good)

Lets talk about the vibes first...amazing decor and vibes, decor and walls and atmosphere is very cool and unique I truly love it so much. Now the drinks and food: the drink I got last time was an iced mocha (no picture but I remember it was very good). This time I went with my mom and we both got the "Moon" drink.. a Chai/Matcha which was such a good drink, I want like a 40oz of it to take with me home for the week. I also ordered the pesto turkey sandwhich to share and I can not express how good this was. Perfectly crispy, juicy and fresh. Took the first bite and literally gasped because not only was the bread toasted to perfection but the veggies and turkey were so flavorful. The veggies and pesto and turkey were also layered in a way that made every bite delectable and that to me is art. Loved it, want more of it and I WILL be back to try more drinks and sandwhiches.

It's third ave I mean if you are from San Diego you know it's either neighborhood parking or the meters. Not a big deal though. I am greeted by Karely and her big smile, one of the baristas. It is tiny location but long, they have two gender neutral bathrooms at the end. A few tables to sit down inside and out. A cute bench with the view of third ave traffic. Interior decor is super cute I loved, one of my favs was this board they have which is a basically you pay a coffee forward and you put the sticky there for the next person to get their drink. I totally don't work there so I would just reconfirm what can be redeemed. Drink: I get an iced dirty chai WITH banana cold foam. 10/10 must try. They also offer matcha for you matcha lovers. The staff was genuinely friendly, and we were able to find a seat inside without too much trouble. We expected a bit of a wait given how busy it was, but the timing ended up being a bit off. Our food arrived first--we had the avocado toast and the mini green chilaquiles. Both dishes were delicious, though the chilaquiles verdes leaned a little heavy on the garlic. (Seriously--hours later, even after brushing, lunch, and multiple rounds of mouthwash, that garlic flavor was still going strong.) We took our time eating, hoping the drinks would arrive, but they didn't come out until much later. We ordered a cappuccino and an iced churro latte. The cappuccino finally came out right as we finished eating--it tasted good, just a bit lukewarm. About five minutes later, the iced churro latte was ready, so we ended up taking it to go. That one was actually really good. Overall, the food and drinks were solid, and the staff made a great impression. I'd definitely like to come back and give it another shot. I love supporting small, locally owned businesses, and with a little adjustment to the flow--like pausing mobile orders during peak times or dedicating a team specifically to them--this place could really elevate the experience.

My husband and I both love ube, and Cafe 86 is known for its variety of ube desserts. It was fairly quiet when we visited on a Saturday afternoon. Since we had already eaten lunch, we decided to stop by for dessert. The inside was pretty nice -- I especially liked the lighting, which gave the place an industrial vibe. There were couches and tables for seating, making it feel comfortable overall. We were greeted by a younger employee who could've been a bit more energetic and welcoming. The dessert case also looked a little sparse and underwhelming. My husband ordered the Ube Monster shake, and I got the ube cheesecake. The shake was pretty good, though not as creamy as I expected, and I wished the ube flavor was stronger. The ube cheesecake, on the other hand, was fluffy and not overly sweet, which I really liked. It also had a thick cookie crust that was delicious. Still, I would've loved a more pronounced ube flavor in that as well. I'm a huge ube fan, and when I make ube desserts at home, I usually add extra flavoring to really make it stand out. Overall, I'd come back again. Next time, I definitely want to try the flan!

Maybe I could have asked but what made it challenging was that the menu did not clearly show everything they had to offer or it was hard to decipher which price went with what item. The cooler was pretty good and it was part of their $3 drink specials. Keep in mind though, it was not advertised, I just happened to know because I almost did an online order and saw it.
