I have eaten here many many times. Each time the service, food, and ambiance is consistently above standard. I can tell they are proud of everything they make, and they do it very well. The portions are generous. I always share or have leftovers. Everything is fresh and made to order. You can save time by ordering ahead. Today I had the chicken torta, bionicos, and the Pacific Mix juice post workout. The bread was nicely toasted on the panini, the chicken well seasoned and not dry. Light on the mayo as requested. The bionicos hit my sweet tooth but in a healthier way vs donuts or candy. The papas caseras was an impulse buy to try at a later time. I was definitely full and of course I had leftovers to bring home. A forewarning about the parking lot - it is a tiny parking lot shared with 4 or 5 other businesses including Francos Flapjacks, a tattoo shop, Chop Shop Barbers, and a smoke shop. Ok so this was my first visit to this place and I guarantee it will NOT be the last. For context, I was camping with my son's boy scout troop on Silver Strand and it was hot... really really really hot. I wanted to grab some delicious and refreshing treats and found this place on Yelp with incredible reviews and had to give it a shot. First of all, you'll need to resist the temptation to order EVERYTHING on the menu because you could easily eat and drink your way through the whole thing. I went with the mangonaeda and bought one for me and one for my son. The nachos looked awesome and while it wasn't exactly in the "refreshing" category, a boy's got to eat right? The fruit was delicious and the chamoy straw is always a treat. I'll be honest, I almost didn't make it back to camp with the second drink because it was that good. Now let's talk about the nachos. Don't you hate it when you see an incredible pile of nachos and all the topings and goodies are on top and they're virtually never and more layered throughout the chips and by the time you get to the bottom, you've just got dry chips? The store is really colorful on the inside and there were a couple of chairs/tables for patrons to dine in. I was very curious to try their chamango and other Mexican treats, but I was thirsty so I opted for a fresh made to order smoothie. I ordered a medium Passion Berry $6.30 which was a mix of all things berries (strawberries, blueberries and raspberries) and my friend got a medium Dragon Fruit (with strawberry/bananas) $7.30 (premium drink). So I haven't been here in about a 5 years since my bro moved out of the apartments across the street, but damn! This is still my spot. I got the chicken sandwich, which comes with fruit and a lil mini salad and it is delicious. The meat, veggies and fruit are all on point. My girl got a turkey torta (which does not come with the fruit and salad, just a heads up) and she was not disappointed. Trying to find a Chamango in the Bay Area is hard enough (we have Mangonadas, which are similar, but different). I figured since I was in San Diego, there would be more places around me that had it. There are a few tables inside (but no public bathroom). The counter and kitchen is all sealed off, with just a small window to place your order and to pick up your order. The menu is actually fairly big with a lot of choices to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Of course I went with the Chamango, and I even went with the large. Glad I did. Not only was it huge, but it was THE BEST Chamango I've ever had. It was super smooth and it tasted really fresh. It had the perfect amount of chamoy and seasoning. They also chopped up fresh mangoes and put it on the top, so when I was done with the smoothie, I had a nice treat of mango chunks. My only complaint is that they need an extra large size! LOL!
