This was a fun place to check out while we were in town! I can't believe it but I forgot to show my Yelp discount when I went to pay, even when I had it ready! It was my fault however when I mentioned it to the cashier she seemed very unaware of the Yelp 20% off check in. Either way the cold brew was interesting and something different. It would have been nice to have a bigger selection of pastries other than just the keto donut which was all I could see. I enjoyed my cold brew and the lemon poppy keto donut said was not bad. I am sure that people on the keto diet would be thrilled to have this option! read more

We stumbled on this jewel while riding outer bikes on the Imperial Beach\Strand bike trails. I had the best flat white I've ever had. They have a excellent coffee and they are careful about the origin, wanting to make sure workers are treated fairly. I heard one of the managers talking about getting ready for a buying trip to Central America. We purchased a couple of their canned coffee for the road, and you can also order on- line. Check it out, it's an incredible concept and they're good people. read more

Been going to both the Coronado and Imperial Beach locations for a long time now. Trident and Better Buzz are by far my favorite local coffee places. Given the IB location you could definitely bring your bike, grab some coffee, go for a nice ride, then grab a beer and lunch at the brewery next door. Easily make a day out of it. When I'm at Trident I also pick up a can or two to enjoy at home. The community is lucky to have a place like this available to them. read more

This is a cool spot. They specialize in nitro cold brewed coffees and roasted coffee beans to take home. I wanted a cappuccino but they do not make espressos, but they will warm up coffees they have available if you want it hot. I had a light roast, the Link in the Chain (Organic Ethiopia Yirgacheffe), which was light in the coffee flavor but offered subtle hints of chocolate and fruit. They don't steam milk so you have to use the little packages of half and half. You can enjoy some nitro cold brewed coffee on the spot or you can purchase canned varieties to enjoy at home. They offer Wi-Fi and some good seating inside. If you like cold brewed coffees, this place is worth checking out. read more

Couldn't be a better location to stop and have a coffee after cycling around the Silver Strand or the Bayshore Bikeway. I was slightly skeptical when I saw they only offer cold brew, but after a few sips, it all disappeared. They have a cornucopia of cold brew concoctions, medium, dark and even special flavors, and you can even have them hot!(hot cold brew, not oxymoronic the in the least!). The customer experience is also friendly and fantastic, and they are veteran run! If you come on a Saturday, be prepared for it to be overrun with cyclists, but you'll get a first hand view of all the colorful kits as you sip your brew...I'll definitely be back next time I'm cycling through! read more

Glad we were able to go try out the coffee here! It was well decorated, really nice ambiance - loved all the nautical theme, and the nautical coffee names! We had two choices - latte or espresso - and they had multiple choices for which milk to use. My husband and I have been coming here for a long time (even throughout covid to help support). It's been a long time since we last visited because the drive is 30 minutes for us. Although, this morning we thought "why not?!" We typically get the El Capitan and Son of a sailer. Which we got this morning as well. Never experienced the lack of friendliness or lack of customer service here prior to this morning. But whomever was working this mornings shift left such a bad taste in my mouth that we will not be coming back. First of all who greets their customers with a "what do you want" and after I picked my option he doesn't even look at my husband and says "what else?" He also gave me an attitude for changing my order from a small to a large. Like excuse me? I'm sorry I'm upselling MYSELF for your business. This is a coffee shop. If you didn't know coffee in the morning is supposed to brighten ones day. If you aren't a coffee person or a morning person or simply not made for customer service then maybe you shouldn't work here. read more

It is a good coffee shop for a certain demographic of people. If I were on a diet or I was big on clean eating this would be my go to spot. They have so many options for cold brew on tap so I would definitely recommend going for a cold brew rather than an espresso based drink. If you are more into the actually flavor of coffee and not a sweet latte this is a must try. They also have multiple types of canned cold brew. The majority and if not all of their food options fall under some sort of clean or healthy category. Many are keto, high in protein, low carb, etc.. so if you are on a fitness journey or have dietary restrictions this would be a good place to go in general though personally not a huge fan which is why I docked a star. The imperial beach location had so much seating in comparison to the location in Coronado. Definitely place someone could study or get some work done. read more

Crafting America’s Finest Cold Brew.

Meet the Business Owner: Eric J.

Serving as a Naval Officer, Eric Johnson started brewing his own cold brew coffee during his final tour of duty in Iraq. He noticed how coffee and tea act as a bridge between cultural differences. All of the chaos of conflict would pause between him and village elders for a brief moment while enjoying a nice cup of coffee or tea together. Two cultures born a world apart were communicating on so many levels without saying a word- that was it! Eric had found his calling and thus set out to create Trident Coffee Roasters.

The portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the flavor was excellent. The quality and quantity of the meals definitely stood out as the highlight of the experience. One area that could use improvement is the customer service experience. The employees did not appear very friendly or welcoming, and there was limited interaction or assistance provided to customers. While the food quality was strong, a more attentive and approachable customer service atmosphere would make the overall dining experience much better.

The sauce is decent. And when you get a more tender piece and the smokiness hits, this is honestly not bad. The veggies were nicely firm as well. The white rice was a bit inconsistent. In some parts, the texture is okay. In other parts, there were weird clumps, and towards the bottom, a couple grains were too hard, like it didn't absorb enough water. We came on a Sunday morning and were the only party there, and when the barista opened the 1 fridge they had it was surprisingly pretty empty. They do have a rotating seasonal menu with some fun flavors. We got: - Hot Vanilla Lavender Latte (4/5): Very noticeable lavender scent and flavor, unlike many other locations that make it more subtle. If you love lavender I would recommend! - Iced Vanilla Bean Latte w/ oat milk (4.5/5): Very solid latte that I wouldn't mind having again, but also not particularly unique. Also worth noting the oat milk they use is planet oat, which isn't my preferred choice. Overall, solid coffee spot with solid beans. I wasn't interested in any of their summer seasonal flavors, but would be down to try out other seasonal menu items next time I'm in town.

Visiting Trident Coffee for the first time was a memorable experience, offering a well-curated selection of beverages and a welcoming atmosphere. Located on the edge of the Sweetwater Reserve, the café enjoys a scenic and convenient setting, enhancing the overall appeal. Upon entering, the spacious layout and industrial aesthetic create an inviting ambiance, ideal for both casual visitors and those looking for a comfortable workspace. The menu boasts an impressive variety, with a strong focus on cold brews and nitro cold brews, alongside a selection of food items such as breakfast burritos and empanadas. Opting for the Midnight Vietnamese Coffee, I appreciated the thoughtful option of choosing between hot or cold milk--a small but significant detail in personalizing the experience. The coffee itself had a rich and balanced flavor, with the unique addition of MCT oil and charcoal powder complementing the espresso and condensed milk. However, the drink was served lukewarm (I opted for hot milk), which slightly diminished the overall enjoyment. While the quality of the coffee was commendable, the service left room for improvement. Customer engagement is a critical aspect of any café experience, and at times, the staff appeared more focused on socializing among themselves rather than providing attentive service. While my name was taken for the order, it was a pleasant surprise that the drinks were brought to the table rather than simply called out--though it was unclear if this was standard practice. Despite some service shortcomings, Trident Coffee offers a unique and worthwhile experience, particularly for those interested in specialty coffee. I would certainly return to explore more of their menu, particularly the breakfast burrito or empanadas, which feature grass-fed beef. With improved attentiveness in customer service, this café has the potential to elevate its reputation as a top-tier coffee destination. read more

What an amazing find! So first things first this is their brewery and Roaster location. They specialize in nitro cold brew which has become my favorite way to drink coffee. If you're a Expresso coffee drinker who adds a ton of milk and sugar this may not be the place for you. But that's ok just walk 50 feet in any direction till you hit the coffee shop with a green sign. For me I actually like the taste of coffee and drink it black most times. One thing I've noticed is with cold brew is more favors of the coffees come through, it's less acidic and has more caffeine then drip coffee. They have over a dozen different coffees from all around the world with different roast profiles. Just love what they're doing here, plus it's a family owned and operated. They're directly sourcing their green coffees, roasting in house (love that) so many coffee shops I end up at get their beans roasted by a third party or some off sight location. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I ordered their flight option where I got to pick any four. Had an organic Ethiopian which was a light roast, it had this amazingly great blueberry taste. A dark roast Peruvian great flavor. Ambrotos which was a medium roast Brazilian with MCT oil was super creamy and smooth. Lastly I had their Mexican Chiapas, medium roast brewed with chocolate cocoa powder, cinnamon and orange peel was also a new favorite. As for the location it's self well it's really cool and and the view and walk around bike way village was beautiful. Very excited I found this spot I love supporting local businesses and this one is doing it right. read more

Trident Coffee is absolutely fantastic--both the Imperial Beach and Coronado locations. I haven't been to the PB spot yet, but I have zero doubt it matches the same great quality (because the others are so good). What really stands out is the coffee itself: it's low acidic and incredibly delicious. It's the kind of coffee you can actually enjoy without that harsh after-feel. I also love that they make it easy to stay "health-minded" without sacrificing taste. They offer functional add-ins like creatine, collagen, MCT, ashwagandha, and more. Plus, the coffee boxes with adaptogens and nootropics are such a clever idea--like everything is curated for wellness from the start. And let's talk baked goods--almost all of them are gluten-free and keto, which alone is enough to make us come back again and again. The options make it feel like you don't have to compromise. The staff at both locations are also truly wonderful: friendly, welcoming, and ultra helpful every time. You can tell they care about their customers. On top of all that, Trident Coffee is a veteran-owned business and they even offer military discounts. Big respect. Hooah! read more

I discovered Trident Coffee while riding on the Bayshore Bikeway, and I am blown away by the quality of their beans and the deliciousness of their cold brew coffee. I highly recommend the "Son of a Son of a Sailor" (SSS) cold brew; it is truly exceptional. The flavor is bold and complex, with a smooth finish that leaves you wanting more. In addition to the delicious coffee, the service is top-notch. Jaryl, who helped me with my order, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He took the time to explain the different types of beans and brewing methods, and he helped me choose the perfect beans for my taste. Overall, I am extremely impressed with Trident Coffee and will definitely be a regular customer. If you're a coffee lover, you owe it to yourself to check them out! read more

This local coffee spot is living proof that cold brew isn't just a drink--it's a vibe. Their cold brew game? Unmatched. They've got unique flavors and fun ways to brew it that make your basic iced coffee feel like a thing of the past. It's like they know you deserve better. The décor is fresh, the logo is a whole mood, and the merch? You'll want to snag a hat or a tote just to flex. Plus, every location is perfectly perched by the beach, making it the ultimate grab-and-go situation for your solo strolls. But it's not an everyday thing--it's the coffee version of that friend you adore but only hang out with every once in a while. When you do? It's always a good time. read more
