5 stars. Nice atmosphere on a Friday night. Played music anyone can enjoy. Fast and friendly service. Now on to the food. I got the beer batter fish with mac and cheese made from Tillamook Oregon which is the state I am from so I can appreciate a good cheese. The beer battered fish was some of the best I have had since living in Texas. Boyfriends burger was a lil salty fo his taste but that's an easy fix for the next visit. Happy hour 5 to close $2 off drinks. We will return. read more

Tricky Fish - Seafood Near Me - Richardson, Texas

We were here on vacation and wanted to try good seafood. After reading several other positive reviews about Tricky Fish, we decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed! We started with the peel and eat shrimp, they were the best we've ever had! Seasoned to perfection and huge! I ordered the Lemon Pepper Shrimp Tacos with fries. Portions were great, the cilantro lime drizzle was the best part. My husband ordered the Tricky Fish (blackened tilapia, crawfish etoufee and dirty rice) and really enjoyed it. I tried the etoufee and it didn't have much flavor... Overall, the food was really good and the service was good. We will be back on our next vacation! read more

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good local beer selection, though most are in cans or bottles. I don't mind that, but some people may. I had the Asian wings and a dozen oysters. The wings were small, but that also means virtually no fat. They were crispy and delicious and the Asian slaw that comes with them was really good. Super fresh and a nice new take on a classic. The oysters were shucked well with no shell bits, firm with a mild briny taste. Served with crackers, lemon and lime, ginger, cocktail sauce and a nice malt vinegar (raspberry?) mignonette. Tabasco was also available. They can be BIG, though, so if you are a "I don't know, I think I kind of like oysters" person, these may not be for you. read more

This is quickly becoming our "go to" place in the neighborhood. They have great drink prices, so if you just want to meet up for drinks, its an excellent choice. They also have happy hour specials which makes for an even better deal. On to the food, in a word, delicious! The mac and cheese is killer! you can also get it with chicken or shrimp. You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu (try the Tricky FIsh), but be sure to check out the specials! The add different items that you won't see on the menu. Service is great, the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. read more

Great Food. The CityLine location is comfortable & the staff is efficient & friendly. Prices are fair.

This place started out really good but went down the tubes fast. Won"t go there anymore.

I guess I missed something. Ate there with my son Wednesday at 11:30. Sat at bar....not very busy. Service so-so, bartender forgot condiments, crackers for oysters, etc. Food, nothing to rave about. Oysters $30.00 dozen...smallest I have seen. Crab cake I believe was made from "special" crab meat. Not large or Jumbo. Shrimp po-boy was OK...nothing special, not much other than bread and some shrimp. French Fries hot and tasty. 2 beers, a glass of wine, and a house whiskey $93.00 for lunch. I would not return. read more

Tonight my mom, daughter and I tried this restaurant. Our waiter Michael was so great and very patient with all of us. My mom got the fish and chips and loved it, I loved my fried shrimp, and my daughter got the hamburger and loved that too. The assistant manager came by to check on us and was so nice as well. My mom is incredibly picky about her margaritas and she loved the one at Tricky Fish. To top it off the dessert I am posting was amazing!!! We had such a great night and will definitely be back!!!! Thank you Tricky Fish! read more

Food was great. Husband got the Blackened Tilapia Po'boy w/fries and I got the Catfish and Shrimp w/fries and cole slaw. I did't care to much for the slaw it was a bit to tangy and bitter for my taste. The fries are amazing! We also ordered drinks-The Blossom and Rasberry Martini, both great as well. Can't wait to come back. read more

Nice restaurant and server and service were good. However, the food was not quite up to par. I have never been to a Tricky Fish so I did not know quite what to expect. Drinks were fine. 5.00 mosaic ipa pretty nice happy hour deal. But, both my entree and my girlfriend's were flawed. I got the softshell crab po boy and it certainly looked nice but the crab was not cleaned adequately. By that I mean the " guts" were still there and it certainly affected more than a few bites. Kind of a bummer since I've never had a softshell po bo boy & 21.00 dollars so not feeling that either considering. Slaw was good and tasty. Girlfriend got fried shrimp & catfish. French fries not cooked to remotely close to crispy. Catfish was cooked but maybe the fryer was on too low or something since it was not cooked to remotely crispy either. Maybe that's the tricky fish way but all n all I was disappointed with the experience. read more

Tricky fish was awesome! We ordered the roast po boy, side of fried okra, side of pork skins and the catfish and shrimp platter. They were all awesome! We had never had okra that wasn't breaded but this okra was amazing and highly recommended. Cody hooked us up with the French toast sundae which was fantastic. We will definitely be going back! read more

My husband and I went to check this place out on a recent Friday night. When we walked in, we were warmly greeted by an energetic hostess who explained the process. She gave us our table number and told us to order at the counter, and our food would be brought to us. I ordered the peel and eat shrimp and a side of coke slaw. The Hubs ordered the shrimp plate with fries. They gave us our cups to get our drinks, and then we sat down. The table had an outlet and USB plug, which was genius! Our food took a little longer than I would have thought since there were only 3 other tables there. They were majorly overstaffed. We had no clue who are server was because so many people came by. One girl came by and asked us if we needed napkins even though there was a stack in the middle of the table. Then someone else came by to see if we needed anything. I don't mind being checked on, but it just seemed like they were trying to look busy. Then when we were done, we sat there forever while a crowd of 6-7 employees congregated around the counter. Huh? My husband had to walk up to get our check, at which he was told it would be a couple of minutes. When they brought the check, he gave his card, and another guy came up and asked if we wanted dessert. Huh? This seems to be a trend with restaurants. You walk up to order, get your own drinks, yet they have a server run your food and you pay through them. It just seems unnecessary. Then the excessive check ins by servers that we did not even need, and who never even cleared the table until we paid was also annoying. The food was not bad, and I really liked the atmosphere. I just hope they can get everything else ironed out. read more

This place is located in cityline, which is a nice area and the interior is cute and nice as well. I got the crawfish etouffe and it exceeded my expectations. The sauce was nice and flavorful and the okra was delicious. It was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. The rice wasn't undercooked and was cooked just right. My daughter got the shrimp Mac and cheese and I took a bite of her dish and it was tasty as well. It was ooey gooey with cheese and had plenty of shrimp. The service was great. The staff was attentive and friendly. I definitely would come back and would try other things on their menu. This place has become one of my favorites for whenever I am craving for some Cajun food. read more

Best Mac & Cheese I've ever eaten not to mention it was topped with delicious Grilled Shrimp! Our Tricky Fish was delivered by Uber Eats (which I must say did make me fearful I was setting myself up for a disappointment) but no, not in the least! The pasta was prepared just right, the cheesy sauce was lightly, yet perfectly seasoned and my dish had just the right amount of cheesy clumps mixed throughout. Mmmmm makes my mouth water just thinking about it and I'm still stuffed! *lol* read more

Tricky Fish - My friends, THIS is what is left of the BEST MACARONI AND CHEESE I've EVER eaten. The fact Tillamook cheese is used was a no brainer! - Seafood Near Me - Richardson, Texas

Today was the first day they were open and it was fantastic! We will be back...... Frequently. Great place for families, dates and business. at almost every table there are outlets to charge your phone or laptop and a bar to sit and work after hours. The Mac and cheese is incredible! Cheesy and great for a side or add chicken/shrimp as your main course. The Caesar salad with shrimp is the most incredible with tomatoes and okra. We also ordered oysters on the half shell and the pink sauce was a perfect texture, the spiciest surprise mixed with the cold oyster made a perfect pair. Our waiter, Aaron, was awesome! He was friendly knowledgable and checked in on us frequently. He gave great suggestions for what our kiddo may want to eat and he clued us in, just in time, to get some awesome happy hour specials. Overall I give it a double thumbs up. We are pumped that it's open at Cityline!!!! read more

Took a few colleagues over lunch to have a quick meal. The service was prompt, as we sat in the full-service area next to the bar; the wait staff was friendly and pleasant, and always attentive. The food presentation was good, quality was good, and taste was overall good. The shrimp po boy was outstanding with just the right amount of crispiness in the bread mixed with fresh veggies and crispy shrimp. Fries are outstanding... Highly recommend. read more

I only had one item, the muffuletta, and it was very, very disappointing. The "Gambino" bun was stale, and they grilled it to cover up the fact that thing left New Orleans last week. The meat was oxidized, a bit sour and dried and the very small amount of olive relish was the final touch to make a very poor imitation of a classic New Orleans sandwich! Sad. My muffuletta resume includes several years in New Orleans and a Central Grocery on Decatur customer since 1973 [as in the place where the muffuletta was born] and the Just Italy Deli in Metairie {currently thought of as the best in NOLA} and Jimmy's Market here in Dallas and this one was not anywhere up to the standard for a $10 sandwich, worse. Meh is absolutely right. Also, I didn't have fish but they have a most unattractive way of serving it on trays. Didn't compel me to try more. read more

This is a gem in cityline! The quality of food for the price is amazing, I come here all the time.

I can't say enough good things about Tricky Fish- from the service, to food quality, to price point....this place never disappoints.

My family visited Tricky Fish for Happy Hour! It was reminiscent of being on an island somewhere. Needless to say...delicious! The drinks were reasonably priced! The frozen Margarita and Painkiller drinks were excellent!!! Our waitress, Gabby was so informative and engaging...Gabby's recommendations were right on point...we will definitely be back! Cindy stopped by several times to talk with us too-we really appreciate that! We enjoyed the fried tomatoes, calamari, gumbo, and catfish po-boy! Oh, also, since we moved to Dallas, we've been searching for the perfect fried catfish batter...I believe we found it at Tricky Fish!! Delicious!!!! Thanks Gabby and the rest of your team that stopped by our table to make sure we were happy with our selections and experience!! See you again soon!!! read more

We came here for a new place to try on our anniversary. After just coming back from the beach, we were craving some good seafood, and this place did not disappoint. We were well attended by not only our waiter, but also who I am assuming was the owner/manager. We ordered the calamari and fried green tomatoes for appetizers--both uniquely delicious. For entrees, we ordered the oyster po'boy and the fish sandwich which ended up being the star of the show. Since we came on a Monday, we took advantage of the $5 mules as well as some happy hour cocktails, and they were amazing. From start to finish, no corners were cut nor small details skipped making this a memorable place that we will visit again. read more

Loved this restaurant... Has a fun hip feel to it. Started out with the mac & cheese which was delicious! I ordered the fish sandwich and my friends ordered the hamburger which were both great! Our waiter was Will C and he was excellent and really took care of us... and cute too! Like everyone says you've got to try the French toast dessert... Delicious... I wish they had a 1/2 star option because I would add it. This place is a new little seafood walk up restaurant over by the Cityline/State Farm area in Richardson. While I can't tell you anything was wrong with it, the service was good, and the food was ok. That is just the reason for the lower review I found the Fish and Chips to be plain and a little boring with not much taste or flare. I ordered this as it was what was recommended by the cashier, however I almost wish I would have tried one of their other menu items as to see if it had a little more taste/flavor to it. I would recommend it as a good lunch spot and location is good with open parking and a garage, but don't expect anything too extravagant. read more

Ok. I'm sure I'm wrong on this review. But I'll try anyhow. Don't normally leave reviews so this probably will not stick. Pros: good blue point oysters, calamari and fried tomatoes. Service from Sasha started out ok. Didn't mention any specials. Apps came out fast. Cons: no Worcestershire sauce for my oysters. It's a Cajun thing No okra in my gumbo. It's a Cajun thing. Crab cakes were made out of shredded carb meat. It's usually a lower grade of crabmeat. Was fair at best. Waitress spent 10 minutes "talking" to another table while manager came out and cleared our table of appetizers. He looked hard at our waitress talking at the other table but she was too busy to see him glaring at her. Waited another 20 minutes for entrees on a slow Thursday night. Asked the manager what was taking so long and he said they would get our dinner out. Again, maybe for $140 I'm expecting too much for a 6 top. The fried green tomatoes were a little on the hard side. I prefer mines to be softer but the shrimp and sauce added a nice touch. The shrimp linguini was very good better than the traditional.
