This has become our go-to restaurant!! If a place is taking to long or just in the mood for quick great fresh food this place is the place to go. Another fantastic dining establishment. Want fish? - it's in their name. Always trying new restaurants and this one got a 5 star. Dinner started with fried green tomatoes, a favorite of almost everyone who post. I had the blackened Tilapia over dirty rice and crawfish etouffee with a side of grilled okra. My guest had Blackened Salmon, loaded mash potatoes and squash. The meal was very tasty and just the right amount of spice. We haven't been out much since the Pandemic started, but were at REI and spotted our old Friday night drinking spot with a near empty shady patio. My hubby wanted his favorite drink the Comfortably Numb. They took it off the menu, oh no! Now I rarely order a Bloody Mary out since I'm often disappointed. Since it was the special today, I went for it. THE BEST Bloody Mary I have ever had. Sorry Grandpa, even better than yours. Spicy, a hint of horseradish and garnished perfectly. When I was boy, my mom used say, "Oh John, in life their are four rule to be good person: Do'nt lie, brush teeth, and don't trick!" So when I drive by the "Trick Fish" my ears light up. I think "No trick! No trick!" But when I see fish, well, lets just say it was a hole another story! I drive to restaurant, grab my tooth brush (just in case) and go to door. Its good door. Really opens and closes, no problem! When I walk in restaurant, I look for trick. The host-ess say "hello! Welcome to the trick fish! How may help you?" I lean in and whisper, "where is trick?" She laugh and laugh. Must be an insider joke. I get to table and really see it with my eyes. Good booth, plenty of seating. And when sit down, I see many napkins, may be even ten! I still am nervous for trick, but I begin relax. Now, I'm a pretty big fish guy, if you know what I mean. Tuna? You bet! Tilapia? Keep it coming. Sammon? Please and thank you. And this place really has it all. Seafood "Tacos." Fish and "Chips." They even have this thing call "DGS" which mean "Darn Good Salad." That make me laugh for 17 minute straight! Just stopped into this place for lunch, didn't know it was a new restaurant. My wife and I tried the fish and shrimp combo which was really good, light, crispy and flavorful. I had their bread pudding sundae with vanilla icecream which was amazing. I like the fact that it was bread pudding squares that were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a drizzle of caramel on top. I've been there twice and had the bacon jam cod fish sandwich the second time which was huge just a little too much coleslaw but was still good. The interior is also really nice. read more

My husband and I were excited to try this restaurant for the first time since we recently moved to the area. He ordered the salmon and bought a 2nd meal (Mahi-Mahi) since the 1st portion was too small. I also ordered the Mahi-Mahi. The server was pleasant and the food seemed decent, but a few hours later we were both very sick. It started within a few hours of eating as this restaurant, and we were both up all night. I called the next day to explain to the Mgr (Ed) what happened. I even stopped in the next day, but Ed's response to all of this was to give us a $25 gift card. We paid $107.94 for meals that made us very sick and he gave us a mere $25 gift card. His skepticism toward my explanation of what happened and his measly $25 was grossly insufficient. We were not looking for a free meal but instead to alert the restaurant that we got food poisoning from their food, and compensation equal to what we paid would have been appropriate. We will not go back. He can keep his $25 gift card. read more

I enjoyed dinner at Tricky Fish! I loved that it was easy to access with plenty of parking. The space is large and open with a simple decor. They have great drinks, great service, and great food! The calamari was delicious and so were the blue cheese chips. The maple smoked old fashion was pretty good....basic. The raspberry smash, however, was yum! It could be a tad sweeter for my liking, but it was cold and refreshing and not an overpowering alcohol taste, but enough to know it's there. Their brunch is fabulous! Some of the best pancakes around! I would get fried shrimp and oyster grits every time..minus the bbq sauce. Get your egg over easy or sunny side up and use the yolk as the sauce instead! When it's a good batch of fried green tomatoes....it's a GOOD batch! The shrimp and remoulade give it the perfect salty and creamy addition. We love Tricky Fish! We have been coming every month or so since they opened! During COVID, they have a patio, but they have also spread tables out pretty well. I also saw everyone wearing masks, which makes me feel more confident in dining in occasionally. I am a sucker for their etouffee. It's under $15, and is a good sized portion--not massive, but just right. This time, I switched it up and got the shrimp and grits. It was a nice switch. The shrimp were blackened and topped with a tomato/creole type sauce over cheesy grits. Again, under $15-not bad! We had the calamari as an appetizer and it was okay. Nothing extraordinary. The dipping sauces were good and their okra is also a nice touch. I always feel that the manager is keeping close watch on the quality control. He is very visible. And the atmosphere is definitely Waterside chic as opposed to Razoo's which feels more like a place to get overly large drinks and some food to wash it down with. read more

Shrimp and oysters very good, fried platter was below average this time around. Tiny oysters, skinny cat filets and overcooked shrimp lacked flavor. Fries were cold & stale. Best thing on the platter was the cole slaw. Entree was the reason for the 3 star review. Service was very good. We'll be back but fried seafood will no longer be an option for us as we can get better elsewhere. read more
