They charged me $25 to simply mount a pair of shorts inside a strapless dress so it wouldn't slide up when I raised my arms. I normally do my own simple sewing things, but it was something I needed before my wedding and I just didn't have the time to do it myself. Mind you, it was NOT my wedding dress - it was a $50 dress for a wedding shower. It was such an easy thing-No modifications were necessary to the shorts, or the dress itself they just needed to be stitched together AND I gave them a week to do the work!! The gentleman asked for two weeks and I said that was too long. I also asked her to stitch it in all the way around the waist at the seam and she only stitched the front and three spots on the back. I could hear them talking crap about me as I was leaving because I mentioned that I thought the price was high. OH, AND there was a large golden retriever that sits by the door and walks leisurely through the shop. I would NOT recommend taking your clothes here if you have a dog allergy. I'm a dog person and have one myself, but I felt like it was inappropriate to have a dog there. It even smelled like dog. I will never take anything here again! read more

Although i haven't necessarily had a negative experience with my current tailor, since moving back to Durham, they haven't wowed me the way that my previous Missouri-based tailor did. Particularly, they used a different color of thread to hem a pair of jeans, which irritated me. So, after reading reviews about Triangle Tailors, i excitedly hurried to arrive before closing and drop off my items before the week of Christmas. The seamstress was incredibly nice and made me feel at ease. However, after being fitted for alterations on four pairs of pants, i was then asked for advance payment, which struck me as odd. Consequently, i scanned the premises for a nonexistent sign that indicates this unusual policy. Never before have i been asked to prepay for unperformed work on items that i am leaving with a merchant, and i have lived in various cities throughout the country during the last 25 years. Such a policy only makes sense to me if i were ordering a custom-made item. However, why should you have both the garments i am leaving for alteration AND my money? The "owner" (i presume) explained that the policy ensures that customers return for their garments, which makes me wonder who on earth are your customers. I know that dry cleaners experience this problem to varying extents, as customers sometimes forget about clothes, can't afford the cleaning bill, or even fall ill or die--which is why dry cleaners sometimes sell or donate clothing. However, with respect to alterations, i can't imagine that people who care enough about their clothes and/or own garments that have sufficient value to justify the cost of alterations would simply abandon them--at least not frequent enough to warrant implementing a prepayment policy. To the credit of Triangle Cleaners, the "owner" did, however, offer to accept only 50 percent of the total bill. However, based on this experience, i decided to continue searching for a local tailor that will wow me. read more

In addition to great service, their location is convenient (near Old Navy) and they have ample parking. I brought my wedding dress in to shorten my hem and get the sleeves altered. They did a great job working with a difficult fabric on the hem. They did make an alteration I didn't ask for on my sleeves even though I thought I was very clear. However, in the end, my dress did look beautiful and I felt beautiful in it. read more

I was in Durham for a wedding and needed my dress hemmed last minute - found this place, and am so lucky I did!! For a very reasonable price, they were able to take measurements last minute and complete the hemming overnight so it was ready the next day. The owners are very friendly, and a huge plus is their beautiful golden retriever that hangs around the shop! read more

Thrilled with the items I have had altered at this shop. Items are usually done in a week and very reasonably priced. No one would know my fleece vest was altered, even on close inspection. Seamstress did an amazing job of cutting and resewing seams. Perfection. Have had the bodices of two dresses altered so there weren't any "wardrobe malfunctions", and again, they did a great job. The seamstress was methodical and went the extra length to ensure a perfect fit. I've had many different experiences with many different tailoring shops. I must say, I am very impressed with the quality of work and alterations done on 2 men's swimming trunks that I had altered there a few days ago. The fit is perfect and there attention to detail is right on point. I'll be coming back to drop off more items in the near future. Price was ok. $36.00 for 2 swim trunks. My husband got some dress pants hemmed, and we were impressed by the quality. The woman was quick to measure and pin, and payment was fast (you pay upfront). They have two changing rooms inside, and place was bright and clean. Got it done within a week, and we got a text from them when it was ready for pickup. Good location, parking, and friendly service! Okay, I'm not going to lie. I was lured into this shop by the beautiful Golden Retriever that accompanies the owner to work each day. I decided that any store with a dog that beautiful deserved my business! All kidding aside, I usually bring my clothing to Lee's Tailors in Southpoint Mall and have never been pleased with their work but didn't know of any other place. I gave Triangle Tailors a try and found them to be reasonably priced, super fast, and very friendly. And I got to pet a Golden Retriever on top of it all! After having received recommendations and then getting estimates from 3 tailors who came recommended, we went with Triangle Tailors because they gave us a reasonable quote and we saw that their work was nice. They tailored a complex bridesmaids dress with swags and zippers and bone in the bodice. They did a beautiful job and the dress does not look like it was modified at all. They did a great job of my jacket alterations. My only real complaint is that the shop was filthy when I went there. I love dogs, but I don't really want to see a golden retriever wandering around the place that I'm trusting with my nicest suit. Easily accessible spot for tailoring and alterations. Paid $40 to have a beaded gown hemmed. Not sure of how that ranks with other businesses but seemed appropriate considering the gown was beaded. Hem could have been secured better - some of the beading seemed to fall off during the event I had it hemmed for but overall nice and easy job. Very clean inside. Walk-ins welcome. I can't say enough about this place!!!! My sister just got married on 12.8.17 and my whole family needed to get alterations done on our dresses and my father on his tux. We were on a time crunch because her wedding was in December and we had not finalized our outfits until November!!! My mother and grandmother needed a lot of work done on their dresses and my other sister and I needed our dresses hemmed and mine pulled in a little more.--the problem being we didn't receive our dresses until mid-November! Not only did the seamstress (so sad I can't recall her name) go above and beyond, she finished all alterations in enough time to make any needed extra ones just to make sure it was what we wanted. My father needed to get his tux pants hemmed literally the week before we were to leave for the wedding and she finished it within a day!!! I literally could go on and on, but they sure have found customers for life! Seriously the nicest two people ever, and they have a sweet dog that hangs around the shop with them (won't bother you at all unless you approach it first). So an extra plus for being dog lovers! I brought Triangle Tailors a dress that I had bought on line to wear for my wedding. The dress was beautiful and well made , but the bust was gigantic. The Seamstress had me try it on and pinned it to my size and changed it to the length I wanted. The dress was ready as promised and had been pressed as well. Great service and great prices. Ordered a cheap-ish dress online and the size suffered. They took in the waist, the bust, and removed the cups for $30. Moreover, they only took one weekend (Thurs. 6PM - Monday morning) to get it done flawlessly in time for my event. Love this place, will come back. read more

I have not used their paid services yet, but they did measure me for my wedding gown for free. I needed the measurements for an online order. Great staff and if I am still in Durham as the time approaches for my wedding I will allow them to alter my gown if needed. Great customer service! I definitely recommend them. read more
