They did a stunning, magical job with altering my wedding dress! I brought in a dress with a beaded top and beaded spaghetti straps that needed to be shortened as well as a multiple layered chiffon A-line floor length skirt that was too long. Triangle tailors did a beautiful job with altering the shoulder straps such that I could barely tell where the alteration was. They were able to also hem the dress in a way that created a lovely train at the back. Then, they also added a bustle at my request. They delivered on all of these aspects very professionally and in a timely manner. Love this place! I needed to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed. It took like 5 minutes. They saw my dress, I asked to get hemmed, they said ok, ushered me into the dressing room, got me measured, and then i was done. They probably said a total of 3 sentences to me which was amazing. It was just that quick and easy. They finished my dress early so i picked it up and that was that (took about 2 weeks) The price was pretty fair at like $40 for a bridesmaid dress hemming. My fellow bridesmaid paid like double that elsewhere so i was really happy with their pricing. I am so grateful for Triangle Tailors! I've brought them three bridesmaid dresses over the past year. Each time, the dress was done on time, at a reasonable price, and fit perfectly. They even tailored a lengha, which is a two piece cropped blouse and skirt outfit for an Indian wedding/Hindu ceremony that had very detailed beading designs to work around. More importantly, they came through for me in an urgent situation. On Monday right before closing, I brought them a bridesmaids dress that previously fit me but now wouldn't zip up all of the way. Yikes! I needed this done before Thursday to go out of town for the wedding that day. I thought it would be in impossible ask for them to help me fix it and I was in a panic to figure this out before the upcoming wedding. They were calm and assured me that it would be done before Thursday. On Tuesday morning at 9 AM, I got a text that the dress was ready even earlier than expected. I came in to try it on and it fit perfectly, all issues with the zipper fixed. What a miracle! I'm not an expert on alterations pricing, but I think their prices are incredibly reasonable for the speed and quality of the work that they do. To give you an idea of pricing, the rush request to let out the bridesmaids dress that I just described was $55. I paid around $85 I think for the lengha, which included taking out the cups, altering the top to fit, altering the skirt to fit, and adding in a new underskirt layer. read more

We've brought several items here for repair and alterations lately and have been very pleased with the results. When you walk in there's usually a beautiful Golden Retriever right inside the doorway. The first time I was there it was sleeping and it didn't even move. I thought it must be very old, but it's not, just very laid back. It will allow petting, but really doesn't seem to care one way or the other. If you have an allergy to dogs, you've been warned! Anyway, onto the tailoring! I had a few pairs of jeans that needed patching and that went well. Also several new pairs that needed to be shortened and the stitching was excellent at the hem. The owners are friendly enough, but pretty serious and straight forward about what they can or cannot do. Unless your order is $30 or more they won't take credit or debit cards, cash only, and up front when the clothes are dropped off, just FYI. read more

I brought in a dress, two shirts, and pants, and the seamstress did an amazing job fitting them to my body and the finished products were better than I could imagine. Nice experience here for a recent alteration! Came in with two suits, got right into one of the two changing rooms up front, and the tailor came right out to pin the alterations when I was changed. Paid up front and was out the door within about 15 minutes. They texted me within 5 days to let me know they had finished, and was met by a nice friendly golden retriever on pickup. Again, in and out, and reasonable prices. Hemming on one pair of pants, narrowed legs on the other, and shortened sleeves on two jackets for ~$75. Good experience, would use again! read more

I needed my dress pants hemmed, and they did a quick (less than 1 hour) and quality job on the hemming. The length was perfect, and I was happy to get it back the same day. The lady even told me to come back for any adjustments if I needed to, since I didn't come with my dress shoes, and wasn't sure if the length would work out with a different pair of shoes. The pricing was very reasonable as well - I didn't feel like I had to break the bank to get a pair of pants hemmed. Some places I called charged double or triple what Triangle Tailors charged me. Easy five stars. I recently moved to Durham and wanted to have some dress shirts tailored. I saw good reviews about this place on here and decided to give it a try. The owners were very friendly. Measurement was done quickly and professionally. The shirts came back fit just right. The seams are very nicely done. The shirts look as if they were made this way. They were also dry cleaned and pressed nicely. Very satisfied with the result. I am also very impressed with how easy it was to communicate with them. I dropped both of my suits off for dry cleaning, but there was an event coming up and I had to get one of them back. I called them and explained the situation on a Saturday right after the holiday season, and within two hours I got my suits back. The owners were very approachable and so was their Golden Retriever. It is so great to have a tailor that I can trust. They ship clothes to another place for dry cleaning, so this is mostly a tailor shop. read more

Needed some alterations done for business attire here. I had an important interview coming up and wanted to look my best and they definitely helped me achieve that! Every time that I've been here, I've been tended to quickly. They have 2 changing rooms available for you to put on the clothes you want altered. The woman who works there always does the pinning for me. She has a good eye and can pretty much tell what you need altered without you telling her. I always ask her opinion after telling her my thoughts. Usually my clothes are ready in about a week. They will ask if you need items by a certain date and try to meet that for you. I've never had my clothes altered anywhere before but I think the prices are probably the norm for this area. read more

Everything looked incredible, and they are extremely fair in their pricing. My ceremony dress was particularly complicated, as it involved at least eight layers of tulle that needed to be hemmed, as well as a very long train. The dress was altered perfectly, and the scalloped lace edge at the bottom of the dress looked perfect and like it had never been touched, even after the hem. This tailor is very bare-bones, what you see is what you get. No frills, no fluff; very transparent business. I called ahead to ask for pricing regarding tailoring and they were very straightforward with pricing and turn-around time. Per pants you can expect to pay anywhere from $10-$30 depending on how much work needs to be done. I've taken a few pants and a suit and have had great results every time; I cannot complain about their tailoring as it has been very well done and very quick. In terms of pricing, I cannot compare with other tailors as I do not have the experience or knowledge in the tailoring space to determine if it is fair of not. Regarding their store and customer service, it is very rudimentary. You walk in, they take your measurements and you're gone; in and out in about 10mins. Do not expect amazing customer service or a store with a great vibe, you will not get that here, luckily you will be spending too much time here. For pants and other quick clothing items it's great. For more intricate pieces like wedding dresses that make take multiple visits and constant communication, you might want to check them out beforehand prior to making a large time commitment. I recently bought a suit from Jos A. Bank and it was very boxy looking even though it was their Tailored Fit. Brought the suit to Triangle Tailors and they made it feel like a custom suit. They brought in the sides of the jacket, narrowed the leg opening, and hemmed the pant leg. Disclaimer, I got "alterations" at the Jos A. Bank and I was upset with how the suit felt. Don't pay for in house alterations at these commercial suite shops and let Triangle Tailors cut it to your liking. I highly recommend taking your dress shirts, suits, pants etc that don't fit quite well and these guys will make you feel good and look good in your own cloths again. read more

After ordering an adorable dress online and finding that it was just a little too large and had gone out of stock so couldn't be exchanged, I decided to go for my first tailoring experience. I was a little nervous because the dress way kind of expensive, but I swallowed my fear and went to Triangle Tailors. They were super nice, conveniently located, and made me feel involved in the alterations process. I picked up my dress yesterday and it fits perfectly - you can't even tell it's been altered. I came here because of the 5-star ranking based on the previous 12 reviews. I went all or nothing. I brought in 10 shirts for alterations that included bringing in the waist and shortening the sleeves. They quoted me $256, charging $15 per sleeve. Ouch. Definitely not the cheapest place. A quick Google search shows sleeve shortenings typically cost $10-20, but I'm surprised it costs so much in Durham. This is a Vietnamese mom-and-pop shop with two woman doing alterations in the back and a gentleman in the front handling customers. They were kind enough; the man was less expressive while the woman made some conversation while making notes for the alterations. They keep their large dog, unleashed inside the waiting/fitting area. The man's English is good while the woman who measured me seemed like she could barely speak it. They spoke in Vietnamese a lot while I was there. They outsource their dry cleaning "to a guy. He does good work." I submitted two articles of clothing for this service just for convenience. I will update my review once I take a look at their work. read more

This is definitely my go-to place for any tailoring work that needs to be done. It's conveniently located since it's close to Southpoint mall which has a lot of stores that sells suits. I simply pick up a suit and just take it here to get it tailored to my specifications. Recently, I got the pant legs hemmed and brought up the sleeves a bit more for a total of $28 which I think is reasonable. I just picked up my suit today and tried it on and everything looks just right. They have two changing rooms which you can quickly step into before the tailoring and after the tailoring to see the results. Tip for the guys: When you visit, I'd recommend wearing your dress shoes with a dress shirt or a nice button down to make things easier for you when they ask questions on the alteration. They do have a dog wondering around unleashed so if you're afraid of dogs, that might be an issue. But I've never had any problems. read more

I've never had anything professionally tailored before. Went here baed on Yelp reviews and I'm so happy I did. I needed 2 bridesmaid dress to be tailored. My first dress was a floor length chiffon dress from David's Bridal. When I tried the dress on I didn't think it needed alterations but I brought it in anyways. I tried the dress on and the woman helping me said it didn't need any tailoring. I appreciated that since she easily could have said it needed altering and charged me for it. My second dress was a cocktail length with a deep V neck cut. This dress definitely needed altering since the chest part was way too big. I brought it in and the woman pinned the necessary areas and that was it! She said it would take one week and cost $20. It was actually done 2 days earlier and it looks great! They charged me $25 to simply mount a pair of shorts inside a strapless dress so it wouldn't slide up when I raised my arms. I normally do my own simple sewing things, but it was something I needed before my wedding and I just didn't have the time to do it myself. Mind you, it was NOT my wedding dress - it was a $50 dress for a wedding shower. It was such an easy thing-No modifications were necessary to the shorts, or the dress itself they just needed to be stitched together AND I gave them a week to do the work!! The gentleman asked for two weeks and I said that was too long. I also asked her to stitch it in all the way around the waist at the seam and she only stitched the front and three spots on the back. I could hear them talking crap about me as I was leaving because I mentioned that I thought the price was high. OH, AND there was a large golden retriever that sits by the door and walks leisurely through the shop. I would NOT recommend taking your clothes here if you have a dog allergy. I'm a dog person and have one myself, but I felt like it was inappropriate to have a dog there. It even smelled like dog. I will never take anything here again! read more
