They wanted to charge me 328$ for each suit for tailoring, so total 656$ I couldn't believe when they told me that! So I drove to Cary and took the suits to Skylark Tailor and for both suits they charged me only 93$ insane! And they did a great job there. So I would Recommend going somewhere else because this place is expensive :( read more

I had a wonderful experience with MTHU Oriental Tailors. I altered my suits here one $300, one $80 and the craftsmanship, and attention to detail were absolutely top-notch. Even though I have lost a lot of weight and the suit is now several sizes too big for me, I can confidently say it was worth every penny for the quality and their effort make it fit me perfectly. More affordable than buy a new $2000 BESPOKE suit. The team was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about their work. I needed the dress quick for my occasion, and the turnaround time was quicker than expected, and the pricing was very fair for the high-quality work. We needed alterations done on an ao dai for our wedding and it was important to me that we find tailors familiar with ao dais. I was happy to find that MTHU is owned my a Vietnamese mother and daughter duo and was able to make an appointment over the phone. The fitting was quick only 15 or 20 minutes and they got to work straight away. We came back in two weeks for a final fitting and my fiancé was happy with the fit. We paid $80 total which is on the steeper side, but the work is quality. Would recommend! read more

If I could, I would give this place zero stars. I rarely write reviews, but feel compelled to warn others about this shady business. BEWARE: they have a policy of requiring payment for alterations at drop-off BEFORE the work is done. They don't tell you about this policy up front and then demand a "service fee" if you decide not to move forward with the alteration. Horrible business and I will never be going back and recommend that anyone looking for a tailor visit Anna's in Carr Mill mall who does great work, has fair prices, and performs her service prior to asking for payment. read more

Stay far away from this business! I had two pairs of jeans hemmed and they charged me $100. I've been having pants hemmed for a very long time in various places and I've very rarely paid more than $30/pair. They're very deceptive in their policies as once you try something on, you're stuck paying a portion of the total even if you decide not to go through with the alteration. It is a very deceptive, sneaky, and unprofessional way to overcharge customers knowing that they won't walk away if they're forced to pay regardless. I would not recommend this business to anyone, even if it was the only tailor in Chapel Hill. read more

I went into the shop, hoping to support a local business. I had 3 Skirts (A-Line) made of simple material I needed to have hemmed, about 6 inches off. Simple, basic material. After marking all skirts I went to check out, and had a HUGE SHOCK. They wanted to charge $140 to hem these skirts! I have had many things hemmed and NEVER would have thought this would be their charge. There is no pricing anywhere in the store, I was expecting a rate close to what I have paid elsewhere, was even ready for something slightly higher, but this was ridiculous. To top it off, they charge me $19 for their service. I paid it (begrudgingly) because they are a small local business and she spent time marking up the skirt, but then they whisked the skirt away and removed all the marking that I just paid for. There is a fantastic shop with awesome pricing in the Southpoint Mall right outside Taylor.JC Penny's, Lee's Taylor This is where I will return. read more

They did some pretty impressive letting out of a suit that was a little too small after gaining weight during Covid. Excellent attention to detail in making it fit better than ever - the result is way beyond what I imagined! Plus some small adjustments to my dress shirt and another pair of pants hemmed. Over my 25 year career wearing suits to work 5-6 days a week I have always been pleased with the quality of work. My first experience was a difficult repair on a torn suit jacket pocket I snagged on chair. The tear was no where near a seam and I thought the suit was ruined. My friend recommended I take it to Oriental Tailor's next to Whole Foods. When I arrived a very gentle and kind women (I think the Owner) calmed me down and said, no problem. When do you want to pick it up? A few days later I came and picked up the jacket and I couldn't believe it! You could not tell the jacket was ever damaged. From this first experience years ago I have always trusted them with my alterations and I have always been very pleased. I panicked when I went a year ago and the store was gone!!! Luckily the store just relocated around the corner next to Chapel Hill Eye Care. Which is also the best in town. My recent experience was just as great as they have all been. I am extremely pleased with this palace. I brought in five pairs of pants to be hemmed and taken in for the waist and side of the legs. After I picked up my items, they fit so well. The tailors here are amazing and know exactly how to make it fit even better than you thought. If you need alterations this should be your one and only stop. read more

I happily returned to the shop, this time with a dress that just needed a simple hem. I don't have access to a sewing machine, or I might have done it myself. I didn't recognize the person who waited on me. After typing my information into the shop's fancy new computer system, she said the total would be $16. That's about half of what I was charged 4 months ago for 4 pairs of pants and a somewhat complex jacket alteration, and this time I had only a single dress. When I asked about the prepayment discount I'd gotten last time, though, the lady literally laughed at me and all but accused me of lying. So I apologized for wasting her time and left. I understand if the previous discount was too good to be repeated, but there are plenty of diplomatic ways to say so; I don't need to pay someone to disrespect me. I'm giving the shop 2 stars, instead of 1, in honor of the great service I'd received previously, but I no longer recommend this place, nor do I plan to return myself. read more

Beware, this place is a rip off. I brought in a bridesmaid dress which needed the top taken in and straps shortened as well as take the hem up. I have been in multiple weddings and have had to tailor each dress prior to the event. Every other time the cost for the same work requested was around $100. This place quoted me $440! Almost double what the dress cost. I opted to only have the top done and it was over $150 dollars and they charged a fitting fee on top of this. The work was average at best. Do not waste your time or money at this establishment. They may have a "master tailor" but it did not show in the quality of work or the ridiculous prices they charge there. Find another place to go this place is not worth the money. read more

This tailor's business practices border on the unethical. If you choose to go there, you should ask what the price will be for the work BEFORE you allow them to touch your garment. There are no signs inside the main store about charges.  Not one. There are only some papers taped inside the dressing room door (most people are inside a dressing room closet to change their clothes, not to read about the conditions and prices of service).  They must tell you in advance that if they pin your garment first, and then they tell you a price for the service that you do not accept, they will charge you a $20 service fee just to get your garment back (unpinned and unmarked, of course).  A respectable vendor, proud of the artistic skill and care with which they do their work, will advise the customer of this policy first, not after they start working, and certainly not on instructions taped inside a dressing closet. read more

This place is great! Fair prices, excellent work, and friendly, quick service. I've brought several things to them.

I went this past weekend to get some clothes altered and their pricing and availability was outrageous-more than double my last experience at my last tailor for the same work. And, when I said no thank you to the schedule they said they were backed up and can charge an expedited fee for the service. To which I said no thank you and asked for my clothes and they said there is a fitting fee of $5 per item, so $10 which I was happy to pay and I went to pay and they took the pins out. What was I paying for in the "fitting fee" if they don't leave the pins in? We disagreed and I left my items there. Be warned about this tailor shop. They are expensive and are running a scam with expedition and fitting fees, claiming that their fittings are proprietary in some way. They said that they explain their costs on their door of the fitting room-2 full pages that I doubt anyone reads. There is more to the story, yet I will leave it here as a warning and wish all who read this well and advise avoiding this tailor shop. read more

had an old but dear to my heart bicycle messenger bag that my dog unfortunately chewed up some of the clips on these ladies were able to stitch back on new clips JUST as i needed in no time! and it was under $30 for the repair. :) don't hesitate to bring them more than just your average alteration need! read more

This may be a good place for simple things and inexpensive or old garments but not a place for work on high-quality and expensive clothes you care about, not even for very simple alterations. I had a bit somewhat long sleeve on a brand new cashmere jacket and asked if it can be fitted. The tailor mechanically shortened the bottom of the sleeve leaving 0.25 inch between the sleeve and the corner - realized only at home - it looks awful. It seems to be such a trivial rule as I now read if you cannot move buttons because of the button holes - shorten the sleeve from the top. No professional knowledgeable tailor could release the work the way it was given to me. Great disappointment. read more
