The seamstress was a practicing doctor in her own country and has been tailoring since the 10th grade! Fair prices, I got dry cleaning for my jacket and pants with pants alterations for 40$.(for a small company and the attention they provided I think this price is very fair) Please Don't let the outside of the building drive you away from this business. The company used to be called Koretizing cleaners, but the seamstress (who I would stress was a practicing doctor and has been sewing since the 10th grade!) bought the company a few years back and made it her own. Her attention to detail and explanation of her process and how she would alter my suit was beyond any tailor I have been to. One thing I would recommend for the company though is that they get some doors instead of curtains, or curtains that fall to the ground. It would increase the customers sense of privacy. read more

STAY AWAY at all costs. Infuriating experience. Second time here and definitely not because of the service -- the first time I came to pick up my clothes which were on rush service because I was starting work in 2 days and dry cleaning was the last thing I wanted to worry about when I started. When I arrived, one of my blouses had a clear stain down its front -- which was not present when I had brought the blouse in. I asked to speak to the manager about it, but he was not in, so decided to let them try cleaning it again and see if the stain could be removed. The next day I came back again. The blouse was clean, however they had managed to break a button on my brand new (tags were still attached when I dropped it off) $265 pair of theory pants. I was profusely apologized to again but told that I would need to return tomorrow. As a side note, all of my clothes were clean, but I had just moved and shipped them, so they were wrinkled which is why I brought them to the cleaners...I wish I had just ironed them myself! The woman behind the counter said she would take 10% off my bill which did little to compensate my time and increasing frustration! As a side, I am happy to pay any cost to have a high quality dry cleaner but this is the highest bill I've ever had for the worst service. WILL NOT BE BACK. On multiple occasions I have taken dresses (bridesmaids, fancy events, etc) to them and they are professional, fair-priced, and extremely knowledgable. They helped accommodate my tight timeline and challenging schedule (I work long hours at the hospital) and really came through with clothing that fit in a flattering but not overly revealing way. I've used this place for a handful of times over the last year. I had button down work shirts come back that looked like they came out of a dryer, with wrinkles and not ironed and no crease. I returned. Asked for some medium starch with ironing and crease. They put starch on the collar and no crease down the sleeve. Still wrinkly. Third time I gave her specific instructions again. My shirts came back so starchy I could barely move. Now, sweaters. They shrunk some. Second batch of sweaters, I asked them to dry clean. One came back feeling like it was loaded with chemicals and it looked dirty. I just pulled out my slacks out of the plastic while packing for a business trip. There are dog hairs on the bottom of the leg. I DO NOT HAVE A DOG! Where the hell did dog hairs come from? The lady owner is nice, but I have had enough. I prefer to pay a bit more for a job well done. This is thoroughly disappointing! read more

Zenobia did an amazing job with my wedding dress. I purchased my favorite dress - unavailable elsewhere - used on poshmark. It was a little bit too small and Zenobia created the perfect alteration by making a large teardrop opening the back and taking out part of the zipper. Her work was meticulous- and she steamed out some deep wrinkles in the bodice cups of the dress that I don't think anyone else would have been able to get out. All of this was done with professionalism, kindness and a seriously low price. Now I drive from Pittsboro to downtown Durham to get all of my alterations and dry cleaning. read more

My friend suggested that I come see Fahreen when my dryer kept eating the delicate straps on my favorite spring wardrobe. I had a dress and two shirts that I hadn't worn in over a year and couldn't bring myself to throw away. Little did I know that her shop was also in the same space has her husband's organic dry cleaners! I have sensitive skin and really care about the environment, so I have been avoiding dry cleaners, but now I don't have to! Owners seemed very personable when I came in for a few minutes to ask for a quote for restoring some clothing. I decided not to get the cleaning done, and began to leave but was suddenly told I would need to pay for some bags they offered to me to bring the clothes inside to be looked at. I did not get any cleaning done, did not want to keep the bags, but was told I had to pay for the bags after since the clothes had been inside them. Had I known they would charge me for them when they offered the bags, which seemed like a nice gesture at the time, I would never have brought the clothes inside and would have just asked for the quote with the pictures I had shown them. That being said, I really appreciated the service and how polite the owners were. I've just recently moved to downtown Durham and consulted Yelp and friends for some recommendations for a dry cleaner/laundry. This place got good reviews from two others so I thought I'd give it a try. As someone with a professional gig, I end up having lots of dress shirts, pants and suits laundered and pressed or dry cleaned. I'm pretty particular about my clothes and want to make sure that I trust the people working on them. I buy things of good quality and I want them to last. Poor care at a dry cleaner can easily ruin something you love. I just picked up 20 dress shirts today from them and they are very nicely done, but the key to the experience was the gentleman at the counter. He couldn't have been nicer. First, he thanked me for coming there and giving them business. Later, he also said that he hoped that I liked the way they did my shirts. Maybe I'm not used to it, but it's rare that I've been thanked for my business and even more rare that someone addresses the quality of their work. Though I'm not completely familiar with the process, this dry cleaner seems to use "green" methods and mentioned how they don't use toxic solvents and the like. Another reason to like them. I was thinking that I'd try a few cleaners around my place and see who I liked, but after the positive experience I had I think I'm going to stick with these folks for a while. read more

Very bad experience. Went there, owners were very nice. When I came to pick up the clothes, they charged more for some of the shirts because they said it had to be washed by hand (!). Not only that, once I paid, the lady asked if I was a Duke student or employee and I said yes. She then told me that I could get a 10% discount. I said great, so please give me, and she told me that, because she had ringed the order already, I would not be able to get the discount then. Interesting her asking me only after I had paid. But the biggest problems came after. One of the pants that they dry cleaned had the zipper basically stuck, with some kind of gum. I don't know if the zipper will ever slide well again. They also returned one of my shirts missing a button, but didn't say anything about it. The quality of the press was dubious at most, with many shirts pressed over wrinkles in many visible spots, like the collar and sleeve. Will not return. read more

Prices are a little high compared to the competition (even with the 10% Duke student discount it was over $16 for a wool coat), but I've had some poor experiences with the chain cleaners in the area. Tip: Koretizing Cleaners is nestled away in a small gravel lot off of Hillsborough Rd. It's easy to miss because the sign is tiny. This store very seriously damaged my wedding dress for my wedding day. It got pressed the day before my wedding, silk organza, and it came back 3 inches too long and completely deflated. I didn't even know until I put it on during my wedding day, and we spent so long during my wedding day hacking together a solution. Further, we have called them multiple times and been hung up on and they took a long time to finally give us the owners contact information. Came here to get a dress de-wrinkled for an event this weekend. When I returned to pick it up, there were a lot of wrinkles still visible. I don't regularly use this type of service so apparently what I asked the young girl working during drop off for (a press) wasn't exactly what I needed. The owner is SO incredibly sweet and remedied the issue right away at no extra charge. While I waited, the owner was pleasant to talk to and I could tell she takes great pride in her business. I also liked that they don't seem to use any crazy chemical products for cleaning. The prices do seem higher than what I'd expect but you will definitely get excellent service here. read more

I was amazed by my first experience getting alterations at Koretizing! After realizing I needed 2 dresses altered that I was hoping to bring on an upcoming trip, I took them to Koretizing and asked if there was any way it would be possible to alter and dry clean them within 2.5 days (I assumed this would probably be an impossible request for anyone, but I thought worth asking just in case!). I was worried when I sent my wedding dress here, which has a lot of detailed ornaments on it. However, the staff's professional talk walked me through the cleaning process for a wedding gown and eased my concerns. When I got my dress back, It was perfectly cleaned and wrapped. I brought a nice Navy Blue Coat in for cleaning and it was nicely cleaned. I noticed about two weeks later that I had forgot to mention there was a stain on the coat. The lady told me that because I had other orders after I picked up my coat, that she would not remove the stain free of charge even though I had paid $16.45 for the coat to be dry cleaned. She basically was punishing me for having other orders in prior to noticing the stain on the coat. I would avoid at all costs as they are extremely infuriating. read more

This has always been my favorite dry cleaner in Durham, despite the high prices. I have found the owners to be personable and kind. As a result, my husband and I have brought all of our dry cleaning here for the last three years. Today I brought in a comforter, which had been dry cleaned here before. One of the owners became very agitated because there was a bit of white dog hair on the dark purple comforter. She asked if my entire house was covered in pet hair and accused me of bringing my dog's bed for her to clean. I'm not sure where this came from--the comforter stays in a guest room that we keep closed off from our dog. The hair was quite minimal, and I would have used a lint brush before bringing it if I'd known it would be so upsetting to her. She went on to rant about how her employees would have to stay an extra 3-4 hours to clean such a large comforter, despite my assurances that I was willing to pay whatever, or just take it elsewhere. I'm not sure why she was so upset, but it was a tiny bit absurd. The offending comforter is now safely with another dry cleaner, who said nothing about pet hair. In the meantime, I'm on the market for a new dry cleaner. I'm not sure what happened here, but I'd advise against paying above market to have one's housekeeping and general cleanliness insulted. read more

They take good care of our clothing and kind people, always asking how we are, etc. We have brought in special items and had tailoring done but they took it over the top when I brought my wedding dress in. This dress was large and very dirty after being worn for 12 hours. I thought there was no way to get everything out given how dirty it was but they did it. I dropped off 4 white shirts (two with noticeable stains that I'd failed at removing in my own attempts) and a heavy winter overcoat. I mentioned that I needed the shirts done by early the following afternoon and I was assured they would be ready. Not only were the shirts ready the coat was also ready and the aforementioned stains were GONE. I'll be bringing my business to the friendly staff at Koretizing again. Do not go. Small little shop, sort of run down. More pricey than other shops in the area. I wouldn't mind paying more for good service, but the service is horrible. In fact, the Indian lady who's always there is very unprofessional and in my opinion quite annoying. If you ask for next day service, she says things like "I cant work here all night for YOU!" ... uhh why don't you just tell me if you can do it or not, and what your price is. I can do without the side commentary. When you drop your shirts off, she tells you things like "Don't take anywhere else. I'm doing you a huge favor no one else will do for you." It's not being friendly, its as though she's begging for tips. And it's not true. If you go elsewhere the service is faster, cheaper, and better. I have been a customer here for several years. I have always been pleased with the way that my clothes come out and the special care that the owners (who are always there) take to make sure they get the stains out of my clothes. A year ago, my job situation changed, and it became less convenient to bring my clothes here, so I took my clothes to a couple of different places that were more convenient. Well, after having one place shrink two of my dresses and another place lose half of my clothes (temporarily, thank goodness), I decided to drive the extra few miles just so that I can be sure my clothes are well taken care of. read more
