I found my go-to dry cleaner in the Triangle thanks to Yelp. I needed my wedding tux cleaned after our wedding. My wife found Perfect Image Cleaners after doing a Yelp search near our home in Chapel Hill. Perfect Image is located in Falconbridge Center, a shopping center near the Chapel Hill-Durham border, on highway 54 near I-40. The store is hidden from street view. It's across from Amante Gourmet Pizza. I dropped off my tux on a Wednesday afternoon and was told it would be ready after 5pm the following Friday. So, about a 48-hour turnaround time. Perfect Image closes at 7pm on weekdays, so that gave me about a 2-hour pickup window on Friday. Not a big deal and I wasn't in a rush. I picked up on Saturday. The total cost to me was $23.78 for the tux jacket, pants, and shirt. They did a great job as far as I could tell. Months later, I dropped off a custom white dress shirt with a stained sleeve on a Monday afternoon. I was told the shirt would be ready after 5pm the following Wednesday. My wife ended up picking up the shirt for me the following Friday around lunchtime. The cost for the one shirt was $4.31. Again, great job. The shirt was nicely pressed and the stain was gone. Derek helped me three times and he was also there when my wife went to pick up. He is courteous, professional, and efficient. Perfect Image is lucky to have him. During my visits, the shop was clean and well-organized. I once noticed a bunch of clean comforters, folded and bagged, ready for pickup on the shelves. If we're still in Chapel Hill the next time we need a comforter cleaned, I'm coming here. read more

I've sent over 15+ articles of clothing to Perfect Image Cleaners over the span of two trips and have enjoyed my experience immensely! My clothes come back neat and clean, and I've enjoyed my encounters with the employees! My biggest concern is removing sweat/stink from pits of wool sweaters or tops that can't be washed, and Perfect Image has made more progress removing those stains/stink than I ever would. Might be a bit pricier than other cleaners but I think it's well worth it. I rather pay to maintain my clothes than send them somewhere that doesn't take care of them. This is the dry cleaner I've gone to for almost ten years. We've tried others around Chapel Hill and Durham but always come back. Occasionally others are cheaper, but they are consistently lower than average. Reasons I like them; 1. John, the owner. His office is actually in this location and he knows all of his customers. Our nanny picked up my clothes once and he wanted to be sure she knew us. A friend was in town for a conference and over breakfast he spilled coffee on himself. We went over to John who cleaned his pants while he waited! 2. Lost clothing. They've only ever lost one of my articles of clothing (again over 10 years) and they made good on it without complaint. 3. Location. It is right near my house and convenient to i40. 4. Pricing. Again, they might not be the cheapest, but they are always close. 5. Service. They always point out beforehand if there is a tricky stain, but most of the time they get everything out. They are always happy to fix buttons, etc. read more

My vintage blouse was ruined during a dry-clean "spot-clean" process (it was spot-cleaned due to the delicate nature of the fabric). When I tried to get compensated for it, I was rudely and unprofessionally turned away. When it was returned to me, the sequins were all falling off and it smelled putrid--as if it had not even been cleaned at all. John Kim, the owner himself, was there when I dropped it off and I felt as though my shirt would be safe in his hands based on other positive reviews I've heard. However, when I called the company back to see what they could do about it--if they could do anything at all--I was basically told that they wouldn't compensate me for the ruined sequins because that is their policy. I was polite with John Kim when I talked to him on the phone, but received an impatient and frustrated response, in which he compared taking a shirt to the dry cleaners to seeing a doctor for cancer. This was offensive to me and--in my personal opinion--completely unnecessary. Now I am stuck with this cost and a ruined shirt that I'll never be able to replace. I was also left extremely upset by the rude way in which they handled my valid complaint. This was an unfortunate situation for me but I'm satisfied with my decision not to return to Perfect Image dry cleaners to save me pain in the future. read more

I've only used Perfect Image once, and they did an excellent job. I had a suede coat that no other cleaner that I went to would clean, but Perfect Image was ready and willing. The price was steep ($60), but I knew I wouldn't be able to get away with anything much cheaper as there was a pen mark down the back of the jacket. If they were more convenient to my house, I would go here for all of my dry cleaning needs. read more

I was visiting NC and left some items here for my daughter. It seems like each piece was $6.00 to clean. We had to leave and she'll pick it up later, so we'll have to ask her how it turned out. At first I was excited about the $2.25 laundered shirt price, but the gentleman said her polyester ladies shirt would be $6.00. That was a downer, but I hope it all turns out good for her. read more

Perfect Image is a terrific cleaner. I take my work clothes, oxford shirts, and silk blouses, and the staff does a fantastic job cleaning them. I've also had great success with sofa covers and delicates. They also have on-site alternations during the work week, although it's best to call ahead to make sure Mrs. Kim will be there. John and his staff are extremely professional and will also tell you when it is inadvisable to clean a certain item, either because of the delicate nature of the fabric, ornamentation, or chance colors may bleed. Several times I've gone ahead and had good success, but I also know that if things didn't work out, it would not be fair to hold Perfect Image accountable, given the fact that I went against their very reasonable advice. Many clothes today are flimsy and poorly constructed. It seems unfair to hold a cleaner accountable for saving everything in an era of fast fashion, where clothes are often disposed of after a single season. In addition, sometimes stains are just too ingrained to get rid of. In my mind, ornamented items are almost always a fail for cleaning as there are too many pieces that can fall off. These items should usually be hand-cleaned. That said, I feel like Perfect Image has extended the life of clothes I really liked and "saved" some clothes I thought couldn't be saved, due to food stains. They also did a beautiful job with a difficult wool and leather dress. I heartily recommend this cleaner. They do a good job on your clothes and treat them well. It is worth the investment for nice clothes you want to last. read more

WORST CLEANER EVER. I tried this new place because of the good reviews and location convenience but I really regret my decision. These people spoiled my expensive shirts and also misplaced one of them. Rather than admitting their mistake, the owner was like "F**** You, do whatever you want. Wow!! I was so amazed at the lack of professionalism, ethics, morality and customer service here. I had to go to police to get my misplaced shirts back. I am going back to my favorite dry cleaners- Plaza Dry cleaners. Even though they are way out of way for me and little expensive, they are worth every penny. read more

Used them for a few months without incident. I took a heavy winter jacket in and they dry cleaned it and when I picked it up there were noticeable color runs as well as a very strong petroleum odor. I took the garment back and they recleaned acting like it would be free. Well I went to pick it up and they charged me for it again and the problem was even worse. The guy refused to give me a refund. I had the coat professionally cleaned elsewhere and took it back to Perfect Image and asked for an explanation and a refund. He argued profusely that he was not responsible. We are DONE with perfect image. read more

I am writing this update after the owner John, took an extended amount of time out of his day yesterday to investigate the issues I noted in my first review. It is my personal opinion that he went above and beyond when it came to not only looking into the issue, but also in finding numerous ways to contact me in hopes of finding resolution. Although our end opinions do not agree with each others, he has shown a type of customer service and ownership you will never find at a chain cleaner, it is because of this that he and his business earn the additional stars, and even a recommendation, he has made a return customer out of me from his actions alone. read more

I visited Perfect Image Cleaners today for the very first time. They offer couture sevices for very fine items such as St John knits. I travelled 1hour and 30 minutes to the cleaners since no such services were available where I live. John and his wife Connie could not have been more helpful, nicer, or professional. I only wish they were located in my hometown. However, for my fine items, I will visit them again. I highly recommend them and would give them A++++.... rating! read more

I went here based on the great reviews because I had a nice dress I had spilled some stuff on. I was really disappointed when I got the dress back and it had white splotches all over it that looked like the stain remover they had used wasn't washed out properly. I mentioned this to the woman at the front desk and she immediately said they could redo it, no questions asked, no angry looks. I got my dress back two days later in perfect condition and was quite satisfied. I will definitely be a return customer. read more

We recently moved to this area and were happy to see a cleaner right by our house. However our happiness was very limited. The first time we went to the shop, the guy was the least helpful, and took 10 mins to acknowledge our presence in the shop just because he was busy on the phone. When we went to pick up our clothes back, we realized they were the wrong clothes! This happened on a saturday and we really needed the clothes for an event on Monday. So we asked the cleaners to look for our clothes and the owner who was not in town, simply said no. My husband talked to him on the phone and the owner started abusing and saying that don't we have other clothes to wear. The guy who was in the shop (the same guy who was leasthelpful at the first place, again couldn't be of any help in finding our clothes and basically repeated what his owner said). We were SO SHOCKED!! Neither did once anybody apologized for misplacing our clothes and on top of that they were abusing us for no fault of ours. I am never going back to that place again, whether or not I get my clothes back. And I would strongly recommend others to TABOO this shop since they have no customer service etiquette. read more

The first two times (40 minutes apart) there was a note on the door stating that they were getting change and would be back in 5 minutes. I could see the employee indoors and he could see me, but he didn't/wouldn't open the door either time. I won't be back. read more

I'm a young guy with a family, so I don't have a lot of money to chance on a dry cleaners ability. Last week I had a North Face jacket take a beating. My daughter spit up on it and when I put it the dirty clothes basket, my cat then laid on it for a week while I forgot it was there. When I finally noticed the jacket, it was NASTY! 2 wash cycles at home just got the smell out, while stains and hair remained. I thought it was a total loss, but knew just where to take it from previous experience. My jacket came back to me looking new! No spots, stains or smells from my cat and Daughter or Perfect Image's cleaning process. It might not be this week or even next month, but I know where Perfect Image is when I need them and I will be back. read more

WARNING: RUINED MY BRAND NEW SILK SHIRTS I left two brand new silk shirts that I bought with John the owner. I picked them up and one was burned and torn and the other had pulled threads. Instead of apologizing, he got defensive and refused to pay the replacement costs for the two shirts. They do not know how to handle expensive fabrics. My clothes are permanently damaged. Although I have used the cleaner without issue since they opened, their customer interface at the Chapel Hill North location is lacking and disrespectful. We have never asked for anything to be rushed. The one time we did, the woman behind the counter lectured my wife in a condescending way about their hours, and why it needed to be there by 4PM sharp. When I picked up the clothes today, she said that "she works for the owner and does not set the policy." I tried to explain that she is the customer interface, and at a minimum, owed my wife an apology for her disrespectful tone, if we were to ever return. She continued to miss the point, saying that she just works for the owner, and did not offer any apology. I said that we would not be returning (ever) due to her rudeness. She told me to "get out of here" and then followed me out the door to continue her rude, unprofessional attitude.
