I do not usually write reviews for businesses because I realize that they tend to be negatively skewed-- a person will sit down and write a review when they have something to complain about far more often than when they want to offer praise. However, for Deluxe Cleaners, I will make an exception. The utter lack of customer service, quality and common decency leads me to believe that this business was not having an "off" day, but is terribly and irrevocably flawed. To start, the woman behind the counter appeared to be perpetually confused. When I dropped my coat off to be cleaned, she could not grasp the concept of a beer stain. When I arrived to retrieve my coat, an exasperated customer was trying to explain to her that her jacket zipper was broken, despite the employee's insistence that it was fixed because it could move up and down one side of the jacket. When it was my turn, she brought out my coat and rang me up for $35.02. I did not expect such a hugely inflated price, so I asked her for an explanation. I was met with a blank stare, which I probably should have expected by this point. I told her that I could not pay that much and asked to speak to the owner/manager. She called the owner while I waited. When she handed the phone to me, the owner literally screamed at me and told me that it was the normal price. I suggested that she post the prices on the wall from now on to avoid confusion, and she said that she would give me ten dollars off. I told her that $25 was still too expensive, and she hung up on me. I finally convinced the lady behind the counter to call the owner back. She thrust the phone at me after she dialed and said that I had to talk with her. I again tried to explain to the owner that I did not understand the high price for one coat and she screamed at me again and said that she was "taking back" the discount and that I must pay $35. Then she hung up on me. To spare the other frustrating details, I managed to convince the woman to give me the coat for $25 despite her fear of retribution from her boss (she refused to call her boss again). I left feeling angry, frustrated and cheated out of a ridiculous amount of money. Beyond the monetary loss, however, there is a more significant issue raised here. I was an unsatisfied customer and was met with coldness, rudeness and verbal attacks. I would never treat a stranger that way, much less a supposedly valued customer. If you agree, I urge you to take your business to a different dry cleaner with (hopefully) a more deserving staff. read more
