I had a Duluth fleece jacket that had a broken zipper. The pull tab broke so I could no longer wear it. I walked in and she greeted me with a smile so I asked her if she could replace the zipper for me and while i stood there she pulled out a little box with many pull tabs and she proceeded to replace the pull tab and the zipper stop on the other side. It took her all of 5 minutes to fix my jacket with a pair of pliers and BEST OF ALL, I asked her how much I owed her for the repair and she graciously smiled at me and replied to me, "NO CHARGE"! WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE?! THAT is what GREAT Customer Service is ALL ABOUT!! She has gained a returning customer if we ever need to have another article of clothing tailored or repaired! She told me that replacing the entire zipper would have cost me $35.00 so in this crazy horrible economy, I appreciated her saving me the $35.00! That's a half-tank of gas nowadays! I'm writing this because I was SHOCKED to see negative reviews of Krystyna's Tailor Shop. They are undeserved, in my opinion, based on a lot of experience. I have been depending on Krystyna's over a year. I lost 130 pounds over the last 2-3 years, went from 318 to 185, so I needed a new wardrobe, but I had many pieces of clothing that I wanted to tailor to fit the new slimmer me. Expensive or unique things that I didn't want to RE-buy in a smaller size, or couldn't have found again. Like, Zegna sport jackets and suits, cashmere sweaters, leather jackets, in addition to shirts and pants... and a new Armani suit. Some items, like a $1,000 leather jacket, I wasn't even sure could be tailored. But, Krystyna's can do anything she says she can do... and the work is flawless. Flawless. She is amazing. And I have a lot of experience having lived in LA for 35 years before moving to Cary. My wife had her wedding dress tailored here as well. It was a very expensive dress and I wouldn't have trusted anyone else. I tried others before finding Krystyna's and there is no comparison. None. This place stands above the rest. I saw that some people thought it expensive and that may be true for those people, but I think that the quality of the work more than justifies the cost. If you need a pair of pants hemmed, anyone can do it... but when it comes to more involved tailoring needs... and when you can't stand anything but high quality work... I've been to Krystyna's twice now, and both times have been for different reasons, with the same awesome result. The first time, I was super pregnant, and had to go to a black tie wedding. I had ordered an affordable maternity dress online but when it came in, it didn't fit my bump well, and I looked like a gold sack of potatoes. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get it altered in a way that would work, but Krystyna worked her magic and got the dress to accent my bump in a way that still kept the dress comfortable but gave me a shape. She was also able to tailor the length to fit my petite frame as well. This last time, I had another dress that was too long, and with a quick observation, was able to put it at the perfect length. I also had a pair of pants that I bought when I was pregnant but now that I finally lost the baby weight, I wanted to take in the waist without compromising the rest of the pants. So I had a wedding dress mishap at the bridal store I purchased my dress at, so long story short, they delivered my dress a week before I flew out of the country for my wedding. I didn't know if anyone would take my dress in such a last minute notice with hardly anytime to do the alterations. I called , and they told me to bring the dress in right away. They were fast and efficient and had my dress done in four business days including the weekend! Amazing! Not to mention, my dress had a ton of detailing up at the top, but it all looked so perfect in the end. I would have given them five stars, but this place only takes cash and I wish the floors were cleaned more often because my dress had all this hair and loose strings attached to the bottom tool piece of my dress. read more

I had her look at my wedding dress, which is probably more complicated then their typical customer. I didn't like the space - it seemed small and was packed. I had to walk out of the changing room with my dress unzipped with a larger audience than I would have liked. I also didn't like that you have to bring in anything and everything you might need - cups, fabric, elastic, hooks etc. Also I felt like she was a little condescending. I talked about making a second skirt for me dress and she looked at me with these huge puppy dog eyes and said "oh no I'm sorry honey we don't make clothes" like it was the end of the world. I decided to go with Lee's Tailors for a variety of reasons, one of them was that they had everything they needed in the store and I didn't have to run to the fabric store with a vague idea of what I needed. read more

Immediately on meeting her and having my first consultation I could tell she knew exactly what she was doing, still, I was nervous. It was an expensive dress with lots of tulle and beading. Her team turned my dress around in 3 days!! Then she insisted on sending it back for a second go because it wasn't "perfect" (I thought it was fine). For no additional cost, she perfected the dress and despite having to take it in 3 sizes and completely rebuild the bodice, you would never know she touched it! The fit on my dress went from a C- to an A+ in 2 short days. Her shop is tiny, and she does do measuring right there in front of other customers who are waiting. Very very expensive!!! $70 to barely take up straps and sides of a child's dress. She claims the lady that pinned the dress explained the cost breakdown. Not true, as I would have never agreed to that for a child's dress that only cost $20. Only thing I was told, is it would be $17 at pick up; however, I guess she said $70, but I thought she said $17, as $70 would have never crossed my mind as an option for the amount of work being done on a CHILD'S DRESS. I had a change of plans for a residency interview and I needed a new suit altered ASAP. I called Krystyna's shop and told her my situation and she told me that she could do it same day in a couple of hours. She wasn't kidding... I went in, she took my measurements, and I can back a couple of hours later to a perfectly fit suit that was able to wear proudly and even got compliments on at my interview. Definitely a God-send! I was very disappointed with the service there. My fiance' and I brought her wedding dress and my suit there for alterations. Her dress needed very little work. I haven't bought a suit in 40 years and when I bought it I had to get a larger size to fit my shoulders and chest. Since the coat was large the pants that came with it were also large-too large for me by about 4-5 sizes. When she was marking my suit out she didn't say anything about the pants- just pulled in the waist and marked the length. She charged us $510 to alter these two items! When we went back in to get our clothes the store was busy. She put our items in a dressing room and my fiance' changed into her gown. It fit her well and she was pleased. I put on my suit and came out and Krystyna just game me a quick look and shook her head yes. The pants were very large through the legs, crotch, and butt. I pulled the pant legs out and said "What about all of this?" She said "that's just the way they are made, I can't do anything about that" and went to the next customer. She literally spent about 15 seconds with me. Now a week before my wedding I am trying to find something to wear that I won't be embarrassed with. I'll never go back to her and charging us so much for what she did was a rip off. read more

Never going here again. I had to get some pants tailored and they closed at 2 pm on a Saturday. I called at 1:30 and made sure with the owner that they would be open at 1:50. We drove as fast as we could to get there and encountered traffic and an accident on the way. Long story short we got there at 1:57. The owner turned us away in the rudest fashion! I purchased my wedding dress from a second hand shop and brought it to Krystyna's for some alterations. I had her pin down the back panels, take out the waist and change the dress from an A-line to a Trumpet (AKA- mermaid AKA- fit and flare). Her shop has plenty of room and mirrors to go over what you want and she is quick to pin everything into place. I came back for two fittings; only because I wanted her to take in the bottom half a bit more. Her work is flawless and she knows her fabric. All of this for $135!!! Which if you know anything about wedding dress alterations is a deal. She even replaced the broken hook at the top of my zipper without me asking and free of charge. She was pricey compared to other tailors and it was a bit awkward trying on my wedding dress for an audience and getting fitted in front of several other people waiting to be seen. The shop does AMAZING work- however, the owner is snippy and a bit rude. They have an extremely fast turnaround which is great if you need something quickly! Also, they don't take debit/credit cards which is kind of a pain.. Her prices aren't cheap by any means, and I don't mind paying for excellent work- however, I feel like if I'm paying 45$ I should be able to use my card. I picked up my dress from the bridal shop and it was HUGE! A friend recommended Krystyna for the alterations. My dress has 7 layers with lace trim and beaded appliqués covering the entire dress. The bodice of the dress had to be reconfigured to fit me and the dress had to be hemmed about 6 inches. Given the intricate detail of my dress, I was very nervous about how the alterations were going to be done. We met with Krystyna on a Monday and she didn't hesitate once. She knew exactly what needed to be done. We picked it up that Friday, FOUR days later and it fit PERFECTLY! You cannot even tell it had been altered. There was a small error in the execution of one of the hems which I noticed when I tried them on, which was corrected immediately (and Krystyna checked all the rest of them to make sure the length was done perfectly).
