Fantastic service. I took a sentimental item to have a zipper replaced. It looked BETTER THAN new! Totally worth the price.

I had used Skylark for a couple of years as they WERE a great taylor but now I will never use them again or send friends to their business as I had done for so long. Here was my experience. I had 3 pairs of jeans hemmed at Skylark at a price point of about $30 a jean. A total of $90 is what I spent. I took one pair out of town and realized that they were still too long and so therefore, I could not wear them. All three pairs were still too long on me. When I was finally able to go back to their shop, the owner said that she would not do anything to correct them as it had been passed 15 days. Of course I did not know that there was a 15 day period! She tells me that it is written on the back of the little card they give you to pick up the items. When I told her that I wasn't told this when I brought my jeans in she said it was on the back of that card. Well, I didn't know I was supposed to read the back of the card for information! Also, why put it on the back of that card instead of also telling your customers?? Obviously, they don't want to tell the customers but then use this as an excuse not to fix their work. I asked her if she would fix the jeans as a one time courtesy since now, I know about the policy. She said again that I should have read the back of the card. Then said, "no". I would have to pay again to have the jeans altered which again were not done properly the first time. I would have to pay another $30 a pair which would add up to a total of $180 ($90 I paid the first time plus another $90). I am beyond disappointed. I understand this is their business and they can do what they want BUT when you have regular customers supporting your business and this is the way you treat them, I can no longer support it as it's clear you don't want nor appreciate my business. I will definitely not recommend Skylar anymore. What a shame. read more

I was bringing them a dress everyday for a week for my bachelorette and they were able to make all my tailoring needs happen on a very short turnaround (I'm talking 3 days)! They even were able to SEW UP a chainmetal dress that had a to large of a side slit to make it less revealing. They always seems to make it work and give great recommendations that fit your need. I needed a pair of pants hemmed in 2 days. They were so easy to deal with and promised they'd be ready on time. They called me the following day to let me know they were finished. The hem was perfect and the pants had been pressed, too. Their pricing is great and now that I've found them, I'm going through my closet to get things ready that need to be hemmed or altered in any way. I'd definitely recommend them! read more

They charged me for the moderate shortening of 2 dresses, that cost about as much as the total cost I paid for the dresses ! I'd say they're overpriced. I knew upfront the charge, but because it was for a wedding near the end of April, and it was now the end of March, I paid ! Never again. read more

Do not use this tailor for anything valuable. They damaged the fabric of my $300 bridesmaid dress and would not own up to it. They kept telling me that this damage was there when I brought the dress to them (blaming it on the woman who I had alter the dress the first time). This is despicable quality and they should be absolutely ashamed, but all they did was gaslight me and tell me that I was not remembering correctly and to "trust them." I literally have pictures of the dress in perfect condition after the first alterations were done. Save yourself some sanity and go ANYWHERE else. I now have to wear a $300 dress that looks like a cat got ahold of it on my best friend's wedding day. read more

I am not know for being a procrastinator...keep that in mind as I tell you that I had three possible bridesmaid dress options. This was one of those weddings where we got to pick our own dress and while it sounds amazing, I could not decide on a dress until the 11th hour and it needed to be hemmed. I managed to get a fancy floor-length dress hemmed and altered to have a sexy, yet elegant slit put in...all in less than two days and for less than $50. That is a bargain, my friends! He did an amazing job. The alteration took 2 weeks as it was prom season, but he told us that upfront and we were fine with it as long as the job is done with perfection. They spent a good half an hour on the phone with me to figure out what I was looking for and how they could help. A good friend's wedding was postponed a year due to COVID, so we purchased our bridesmaid dresses almost 2.5 years ago! I put on quite a few pounds and realized kinda last minute that I couldn't get the dress zipped up. Luckily for me, these two folks MADE MAGIC HAPPEN! Without hesitation, they assured me it was something they could make happen within the time frame I needed (less than a week). They tailored inches off the bottom and added some material up top. The dress was tailored flawlessly. Not only did it fit absolutely perfectly, but you could not tell it wasn't the original look of the dress. They were super friendly and professional and did such an awesome job on the dress that you can't even tell any alterations were made! This place was a great find... when you actually find it. Don't rely too much on your GPS to get you here, because if this is your first time visiting the Cary Towne Center, the directions were a bit confusing. Nestled inside the mall, I'd say the best way to find the location is by going through the main entrance and veering left towards Belk. The space was nicely lit and spacious and I could tell they were experienced as soon as I walked in because there were a number of wedding gowns hanging in the back. This put me at ease immediately :) Highly recommended and definitely worth the 20 minute drive over from West Cary! I'll be back for all my tailoring needs for sure! P.S. I took my traditional white wedding gown here from David's Bridal to have it taken in a full dress size. It was very affordable! ($55) They did such a good job I can't tell it was even altered. The BEST customer service! I called to see if I needed an apt after reading numerous positive reviews. They said I could just drop by. I work till 6pm, so it's nice finding a place that is open till 9pm to do my alterations. I needed a lab-coat hemmed and a button also sewn onto it. They said they could it that evening and it would take about 40 min. It was finished in 30 minutes and looked and fit perfectly. It was also affordable. I bought a bridesmaid dress while I still had 35 lbs of baby weight to lose from being pregnant. I was able to lose all 35 lbs 3 weeks before the wedding but the bridesmaid dress was then ginormous on me! Skylark Tailors was able to take the dress in and made it look like it was always the right size on me! I was so relieved to go in there and try it on and it fit me perfectly! I needed to get my husbands suit pants hemmed/cuffed at the last minute, so I called and the gentleman that answered the phone told me no problem and gave me the rate ($11.00 total) over the phone. I arrived within 15 minutes and he was able to stick to the original timeline he gave me (under 2 hours). It worked out great since they are located in Cary Town Center, I was able to grab lunch and do a little shopping. The pants fit perfectly, as my husband couldn't come in personally to get measured I brought another pair of his pants and it was no problem. Daughter decided on Monday evening she wanted prom dress shortened so wouldn't be concerned stepping on hem. Due to the fabric wasn't comfortable attempting myself. Searched online, saw the reviews and called Tuesday and was told they could do it for that Saturday, so we went that evening. The owner was very gracious and helpful. I love this place. I first went here to get my wedding dress altered, but have since gone in to get an REI hiking backpack mended. They are really friendly and accommodating, and are open until 9 so its easy to do fittings/ pick ups after work. I searched for alterations prior to my wedding and contacted a very well reviewed bridal alterations shop. Because I called them about 2 months prior to my wedding, they stated that I'd have to pay a $100 rush fee to complete my gown in time. This was on top of a $400-600 average price for the actual alterations. I continued to look around and found Skylark. I came in with my gown and the husband and wife were very courteous and up front about pricing. It was about half the price and didn't have a rush fee. They were good with finishing their work in a reasonable amount of time after I came in for two fittings. And most importantly, my gown looked great. I'd definitely recommend this shop. read more
