Since my mother had been a customer for years I figured I would start going there. Last summer I took 4 or 5 pairs of shorts to get hemmed. I explained exactly what I wanted and she said no problem, $10 each. When I went to pick them up there were issues with the hem. I showed her what was wrong, she ok come back and pick up in a few days. I did and it was ok. This year I went to have the same thing done again. I figured since we had the misunderstanding that it would obviously be done correctly this time. I was wrong. This time when I went it was busy, she had 2 people sitting and she was measuring a man. I was willing to wait but she went ahead and took the shorts. I went to explain it all again but she said no I remember you. Then she told me the price would be $14 each. I was taken off guard at the price increase and I looked around but did not see any posted notices of the change. I tried to explain that it is a bit much more for the same work. But I was in a hurry too and said ok but made a comment that she should post a notice of the increase. She did not like that. Well when I went to pick them up I checked in the car and saw that half were done wrong again and the other half had crappy work done. The thread was already coming off the jeans plus the hem line was far from straight. I decided to just go home and take a closer look before having to tell her again that something was wrong and I wanted to compare them with the previous ones she had done for me. When I went back she had a man getting measured so I waited. As soon as I started pulling the same shorts out of the bag she started with her attitude. I was explaining my concerns and she started talking over me. She was talking so fast I could barely understand about every other word. And she would not stop for me to talk. She was saying that all I do is complain, to which I said I just want the work done correctly. After a few minutes of her talking while I was talking she started yelling. At that point I was done. I mean really if you had just done it right to begin with and taken that time to listen to me then there would have been no issue. And yeah I am gonna bring back crappy work after I paid for it and expect it to be done the right way! I told her I was not gonna be talked to like that by anyone and let her know that I would be making this post and she said she didn't care. read more

This is a fabulous alterations service. They are reasonably priced, their work is of excellent quality, and always meet their deadlines. I lived in the NYC area for 16 years and never found a better tailor for everyday clothing needs. I've been going to Tam's since my old tailor closed at the beginning of the pandemic and never reopened. I have had probably 15 pairs of trousers tailored here, and they have always come out even better than expected. I'm normally not one to write reviews, but they are very friendly and have a flexible turnaround as well. The prices are very reasonable as well, less than I've seen at the tailor in my hometown. Phenomenal experience! I had purchased a dress on Etsy-- and before I had even gotten a chance to wear it two beads had come loose! So-- I took it over to this tailor shop on the recommendation of a friend and expressed my concerns - - I would be wearing it to a destination wedding on the upcoming weekend and was worried about those beads and many others as the dress was completely covered with beads. (I was terrified I'd be left clutching fistfuls of beads on the dance floor!) When I returned two days later to pick up the dress all that was pointed out to me was that the lose bead had been tightened and the shoulder bead that was missing had been moved up slightly so that the gap was not as obvious. She charged me five dollars which I thought was more than fair and I went on my way.... it wasn't until the night of the wedding when I pulled the dress on over my head that I realized every single bead on the bodice had been hand stitched into place! I try other tailors in Raleigh before, and Tam really does better job than others. Just for shirt sleeve trim for example. Other tailors made uneven stitch, left holes behind. Tam did neat clean beautiful job on my shirts. No holes, no leftover thread. And match the manufacture original design. And for all these great work, he charge the same price as other tailors. read more
