Low and behold I try it on 2 months before my wedding that is in October 2014 and I can't even get it zipped past my hips. Panic mode!! I did some research and figured out I could add a corset and have the seams let out but it would cost me at least 500 bucks at David's and all these work from home seamstress were booked up. My wedding planner recommended lees tailor at Crabtree mall where she had success with her other brides 'dress disasters. I brought my dress in, the ladies circled my dress while I'm wearing it for about 5 min and then said "we can fix this". Sounded too good to be true. All I had to do was go to Joanns fabrics down the street, match my dress to 2 yards of fabric and they added a corset. They also let out 2.5 inches from my waist and back side. After 3 fittings and tweaks here and there PLUS hemming the bottom to fit my very comfortable flat shoes my dress is saved!! And for less than 200 bucks. I can't thank them enough. They have so many bad reviews on here and I was only going by blind faith in my wedding planner but I am so glad I came here. These ladies were so kind and they work fast. Thank you!

I had used Skylark for a couple of years as they WERE a great taylor but now I will never use them…read moreagain or send friends to their business as I had done for so long. Here was my experience. I had 3 pairs of jeans hemmed at Skylark at a price point of about $30 a jean. A total of $90 is what I spent. I took one pair out of town and realized that they were still too long and so therefore, I could not wear them. All three pairs were still too long on me. When I was finally able to go back to their shop, the owner said that she would not do anything to correct them as it had been passed 15 days. Of course I did not know that there was a 15 day period! She tells me that it is written on the back of the little card they give you to pick up the items. When I told her that I wasn't told this when I brought my jeans in she said it was on the back of that card. Well, I didn't know I was supposed to read the back of the card for information! Also, why put it on the back of that card instead of also telling your customers?? Obviously, they don't want to tell the customers but then use this as an excuse not to fix their work. I asked her if she would fix the jeans as a one time courtesy since now, I know about the policy. She said again that I should have read the back of the card. Then said, "no". I would have to pay again to have the jeans altered which again were not done properly the first time. I would have to pay another $30 a pair which would add up to a total of $180 ($90 I paid the first time plus another $90). I am beyond disappointed. I understand this is their business and they can do what they want BUT when you have regular customers supporting your business and this is the way you treat them, I can no longer support it as it's clear you don't want nor appreciate my business. I will definitely not recommend Skylar anymore. What a shame.

When I picked up the dress, I wasn't allowed to try it on. I took the dress back to the tailor because it was too long and nothing had been done to it. i was told that I needed to pay an additional fee to have the dress redone. But when I tried to rationalize and explain to the assistant, she " shooed" me away and said she had other customers to attend to. Embarrassed, disrespected, disappointed and disgruntled... I will be taking my business elsewhere . I had been a faithful customer but never again!

I agreed to pay an additional fee for them to correctly hem the three pants. When I got them back, only two had been hemmed correctly and the third was still three inches too long. Don't go here.

Their pricing is inconsistent and seems to change depending on who you are or how they're feeling that day. As well as items not being seamed together and matched properly. I'm always asked to stay and wait and sit longer or to come back later that day or another day and they still don't provide a discount despite their errors. Most recently, I brought in four small blankets to be stitched together. Each blanket only cost me about $5. At the time of drop-off, they told me they were too busy to give a quote, so I specifically asked them to call me with the price before starting work. I never received a call, voicemail, or any form of communication. When I returned, I was shocked to be told the total was $74--more than three times what I paid for all the materials combined. When I questioned it, the owner lied & insisted he had called me, which simply isn't true. Then instead of addressing the issue professionally, he became dismissive, telling me it was "in the past" and brushing off my concerns. Any time I tried to explain how inappropriate and frustrating the situation was, he acted like he didn't understand me like he didn't understand English, which made the interaction even more upsetting. I would strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. There are plenty of tailors who are more transparent, professional, and respectful of their customers. Would give 0 stars if possible!

Over the years, I have brought them multiple suits annually because I like my suits tailored to fit a certain way. My work requires me to wear suits regularly, so tailoring is not occasional for me; it is a necessity. Unfortunately, recent experiences have made it difficult to continue supporting this business. My biggest concerns are inconsistent pricing, overpricing, and poor communication. On one visit, a hem may cost one price, and the next time the price is different. Recently, I brought in three suits, one of which needed to be rushed. I was charged $40 for the rush service, which I paid because I needed the suit quickly. The following month, however, the price had doubled. I also often wear three-piece suits and like to have a pocket added to the vest. This time, I was quoted $50 to add one pocket using leftover fabric from the pants. I pointed out that just a few months earlier, the same alteration had cost $35, which I gladly paid. This time, I declined. The last straw came when I was told that two of my suits would be ready on May 2. When I arrived, the pants were not ready. I was told the pins had fallen off and that I needed to try them on again to be measured. In a very casual and dismissive manner, I was told to wait 15 minutes and the pants would be ready. I waited. As I was leaving, the gentleman attempted to give me $5 for the inconvenience--after I had spent $395 to have three suits altered. After more than a decade as a loyal customer, that was disappointing. They have seen me for the last time. I will be looking for another professional tailor--preferably one with clearly posted prices and more consistent customer service. I am not sure what has changed at Advance Tailors, but it feels as though their success may have gone to their heads. Think twice before using them.
