The go to tailor shop for me! I am so impressed with their work - I swear my clothes come out looking more expensive when I get them done at Chi's. It is cheaper and better quality than others in the area. Chi is also transparent with me on what clothes are worth tailoring vs a lost cause, and he also knows what cuts will be the most flattering. Most honest tailor I've ever been to. I had a dress that needed to be altered - or so I thought. It ended up having ties that I didn't notice and he told me that it didn't need to be altered, just tied right. Not sure how I missed this, but his honesty struck a cord with me. He wasn't interested in up charging me for alterations I didn't need - he simply helped me out. Additionally, I had another dress that needed to be taken in at the bust - he did it on the spot for no charge. Humanity goes a long way. This shop will forever have my business. 5 stars because every service I have had done here has been done correctly. I've had pants hemmed, which doesn't seem like rocket science, but you'd be surprised at how many tailors make the pants too short! I've also had zippers fixed and they've done this perfectly. My husband also had a suit altered. He had the pants hemmed, shoulders taken in, and sleeves shortened. Everything was done very professionally. The suit looked great on him. * Note - this is not a dry cleaner, it's a tailor shop, but I couldn't find that category when I added the business! * I bought my wedding dress at Saavi Formalwear, just two shops down from Chi Tailor. They said the majority of their brides and prom girls go to Chi to get their alterations done. I tried to do research online before committing to get my alterations done there, since it is a huge expense that really impacts the dress, but found there was just one review on Google+ and none on Yelp. I went in with my wedding dress, as well as a blazer and pair of jeans that needed repair. Chi is very quiet but personable, and makes you feel right at home. No pomp or circumstance, just get in the dressing room (very large dressing room, may I add - perfect for putting on gowns), put on the item in question and come right back out. While I was there an older gentleman came in to get a suit jacket shortened, and since we were in a lull in the fitting process, Chi just stepped over to measure this new guy. I guess that could rub some folks the wrong way, but to me I felt like I was part of the regular crowd already. This older guy and Chi called each other by first name, talked about wives and kids - it was very down-homey, very friendly. And the older man looked at me very seriously and said "You've got the best tailor in Raleigh." I think I trust him. Anyway, so my dress won't be ready for several weeks, but he sewed up my blazer and jeans in under a week to the tune of $16. Pretty reasonable. The dress alteration is going to be more - clearly - but he really knows the structure of garments and told me very matter-of-factly what he could and could not do with my dress. All in all, a top-notch place. I don't know why more people haven't reviewed this excellent little tailor shop! read more

Chi's Tailor is my go to spot for making fine tune adjustments to my wardrobe. Initially, I chose Chi's for it's convenience in terms of location, but the quality service kept me coming back. It's a family run business, and Mr. Chi is always very professional. Clothes are almost always fitted correctly, and the one time I had an issue, Mr. Chi just had me come back at my convenience and took care of the problem. In one instance I needed something done the next day and they made it happen at no extra cost. Only catch here is they only take cash, but otherwise, I recommend. read more

They did a good job hemming a jumpsuit for me at a fair price, but it took a solid week for it to get done. Also the owner kept trying to tell me the length was fine, when I wanted it shorter even though it was technically "fine". They only take cash or check, which I find super inconvenient. read more

Like the previous post, I also bought my wedding gown at Savvi and took it to Chi Tailor for alterations. It is a risky move trusting someone you don't know to alter your wedding gown but Chi came highly recommended by the ladies at Savvi. My gown was white lace, strapless and mermaid style. Chi told me the "french style" bustle was appropriate for this style of dress and that made me feel like he knew his stuff. Here was my estimate/bill: 3 bustle points: $20 x 3 = $60 take in each side of top = $60 sew in 2 cups = $15 purchase 2 cups = $15 sew in extra chrinoline = $30 Total: $180 They sent me to Joanne's fabric store to buy the $8 worth of chrinoline I would need to give the bottom of my dress a fuller look and I dropped that off with them the next day. It took them only 3 weeks to finish my alterations but when I went to try it on, I felt like the top didn't fit quite right. They agreed and said the cups should be moved slightly so they resewed them and I picked it up two days later. Ultimately, I felt like the top still had an unwanted little wrinkle on each side of my rib cage but Chi said if he tried to pull it tight and sew it, the stretchy lace fabric would just stretch out and create a new wrinkle. I was probably just being over-critical because I don't think anyone else ever noticed. This is not a super fancy alterations shop, but they were pleasant, quick and affordable. Chi is obviously very experienced and I would recommend him to other brides. read more

Updated review: While I still take my clothes to Chi for alterations, I've been less and less please over time. There are times when he will send me away, saying an alteration can't be done, when I know it can. Or, he'll push back when I ask him to do an alteration, telling me it looks fine the way it is. I think he's gotten very busy with bigger, more expensive projects and doesn't want to do some of the simpler things. Still, his team does a good job, so I will continue to go there. Below is my original review: I've been using Chi's Tailor Shop for years, and I've been very pleased with his services and his professional demeanor. I tend to have more complicated alterations performed because I'm petite, so I need shoulders lifted, seams shortened in the crotch, dresses and blouses tailored along the sides, and darts created in the front and back of tops. He and his staff always do a nice job for a reasonable price and within a reasonable time frame. Chi is always pleasant and professional. read more

My dress turned out fine, but the customer service was very bad and they did not notify me that they do not carry credit cards. It was a huge inconvenience to go find an atm and took extra time out of my day that I didn't need to waste. They were not apologetic at all. It's 2018 and here are so many really easy ways to take credit cards nowadays. Customer service is as important to me as the quality of the work and I will not do business with them again. read more

We were so stressed because we had ordered the wedding dress so late, and so close to the wedding date. The dress that we ordered also arrived late, size 2, just weeks before the wedding. (Chi was recommended by the bridal shop.) CHI had to take a lot in and a lot up because my daughter is short and to thin for that dress. Chi said it would be done on time and it was! It was just beautiful and fit perfectly! I figure, if Chi can so beautifully tailor a wedding dress on such short notice he's worth his salt. Very nice job and stress free. This shop is small but amazing. I had several pieces of clothing altered and repaired already and it was perfectly done and reasonable each time. Then I had the big one: a local cleaner's had ruined key pieces of a special occasion suit a few days before the event. I didn't even know what to ask to have done, it was that bad. The owner saw what needed to be repaired, told me where to get the correct fabric, chose the best of two options when I brought them back, took two suit coat sleeves off, made a pattern from the destroyed pieces, made new pieces and put it all back together as good as new and on time. I knew we'd be permanent customers at that point. They've since done other work, and it's always the same: within a few days (maybe a week during bridal season), he explains why something needs to be done a certain way to get the best result, and all the work has been done with precision. Everyone there, especially the owner, is friendly and pleasant, the cost is very reasonable, but most of all, I can relax and know the job will be done right. There's fewer and fewer places I can say that about these days, so I'm doubly appreciative! read more
