Under the new ownership and management of the lovely and friendly Yan, Luyen Tailor Shop has turned into one of the best tailors in North Raleigh. As a business man, I purchase about 8 to 10 suits per year which all need to be taken-in and hemmed, not to mention the additional alteration needs of my family. Luyen's have always done a great job and on occasion, have graciously done the work again free of charge if I felt it was taken in too much or not enough. Luyen Tailor Shop is also the lowest price tailor shop probably in North Raleigh, if not in all Raleigh. I know because I have compared them to no less than 6 other tailors throughout the city and they always come out as the best work for your bottom dollar. Just keep in mind that in order to keep their prices this low, they do not accept credit cards. Cash or check only. This place always has a steady flow of people but never so busy that you have to wait to be served. With a lovely smile, Yan will take your measurements in a jiffy and the three changing rooms make for quick service. Stop in and see Yan at Luyen Tailor Shop and I'll guarantee you won't be disappointed. read more

Great friendly service. One of the people working in the back was with the owner, her knowledge and eye for thread colors was impressive. The turnaround on 2 pairs of jeans was great and I was very happy with the pricing. Will definitely be coming back read more

This is the BEST tailor shop i've ever been to! My bridesmaid dress came in too small and Yang understood what needed to be done and handled it with no problem! I can not stress this enough if you need any alterations done please stop by here! You will truly be satisfied! read more

I've had a pair of pants altered and a few others hemmed. I've been super happy with the quality and the reliability of Luyen Tailor Shop.

Overall, It was a good experience and good service. WARNING: They have dogs that are always at the shop, they are small poodle like dogs. While I get that most people don't care ‍ about this I am not a dog fan and would have liked to know this in advance. Quick addition: I am a tall woman who has only had about 2 items altered in my life so I have limited comparisons. We were greeted immediately and I was fitted quickly. Several people came in while we were finishing up. Check out was fast and price was reasonable. My dress was ready the date I was told to return. It was difficult to get the dress perfectly so I'm not sure if it's the dress or staff. Overall, I would go back, reasonably priced, efficient, and altered as I wanted. read more

I couldn't be happier. Skilled tailoring at a very reasonable price. Also, completed quickly. What more could you ask for?

Yang knows tailoring. I have been a patron of this shop for over 20 years. From simple hems to restyling tailored jackets, she has provided excellent work in timely fashion at a fair price. I recommend her to anyone looking for a tailor. read more

The only things that were worse than the tailoring job they performed on my garments was their customer service and attitude.

This is THE place to go for alterations. From altering Levi jeans to adjusting the sleeves (length) on my leather jacket, they're the best. Excellent. read more

I rely on Luyen Tailor Shop to alter my work clothing. They've hemmed and tapered new trousers for me at a reasonable price with high quality. I also have issues with my belt buckle wearing holes in my trousers (no I'm not a cowboy) -- they have re-weaved the holes to make the trousers last that much longer. Today, I had a pocket in a suit jacket in which the seam came undone. They repaired it in 2 minutes at no charge. read more

This is NOT a simple fabric on my dress that needed altering-- however, the wonderful wonderful people at Luyen Tailor Shop shortened the hem and gave me more room in the sleeves-- and you can't even tell a break in the lacework! She helped me to come up with a solution of actually using the hem in the sleeve! Such an amazing and smooth job! It looks so wonderful and I can't wait to wear it! Thank you! read more

I had never used this tailor shop before, but after contacting and visiting several other shops in the area and even receiving a lower quote from a competitor, I was convinced that Yanfang was very knowledgeable of the hand-sewn work I needed completed. I'm so glad that I trusted my instinct and trusted Luyen Tailor Shop on this occasion, who by the way completed the alterations ahead of schedule. Yanfang was both friendly and very professional in her demeanor and the expertise of her work was exquisite! If you are torn with where to go, I highly recommend Luyen Tailor Shop...they exceeded my expectations! read more

Luyen Tailor does superb work for a very reasonable price and I highly recommend them for any and all of your tailoring needs.

They have done a great job on everything I have brought there. They actually take time and see how you want your clothes altered and are very honest and friendly. I highly recommend this place. read more

I have lived in N. Raleigh for 30 years and I have a large extended family. Almost weekly I have a need for some alteration. I have used tailors all across Wake County and was never quite satisfied until I found Luyen. For me, what sets Luyen apart from all the rest, is the young girl that works up front. Yang is the hardest working and most pleasant person to deal with. She goes out of her way to satisfy and always gets it right and always has a smile! Kudos to you Yang!! read more

A great "Tailor Shop" always friendly and will do there best to accommodate you no matter what the request is. Yang is Awesome!!!

I have used this place for a few years. It has consistently gone downhill. At first, it was adequate, then it devolved to barely acceptable. Last visit it had plunged into inhospitable. The owner has grown increasingly rude. The past few visits, work that was supposed to be done was either not performed or done so haphazardly. I have set out to find a new tailor (quite a task in Raleigh), as I refuse to go back to this ogre, and his diminishing quality of work. Caveat emptor read more

THESE PEOPLE ARE WIZARDS! They do incredible work and are the #1 tailor in NC. I took them a bridesmaid's dress to be altered a week before a wedding and they did it perfectly and within a matter of 2-3 days. read more

Very helpful, friendly, practical advice. Saved me money by telling me that how I could fix mystery concern myself much faster and easier than requiring her skills. Very much appreciated. Would love to bring her business in to future. Also there's a sweet adorable mascot it seems. Great location and easy parking read more

I came into luyen with a wedding dress that needed serious work and they did it in under a week for me! They work hard and fast and know what they are doing. read more

Yang is a fantastic tailor and all work is professional and to the exact measurement. Wouldn't use anybody else and the prices are right.

I read the reviews about this shop and had to laugh. I agree that the owner is a little rough around the edges but I have yet to find another tailor who can match his work. If you want a dinner guest, look elsewhere. If you want great tailor work on you clothes, this is your place. read more

I've used them for all kinds of alterations several times over the past 3 years. They're awesome, efficient, fast in and out when trying on. They also are great about calling when there's an issue. They've altered beaded dresses for me, dress pants, jeans, etc. All great experiences. read more

RUN & BEWARE, Sneaky snakes in the grass that attacked me!! Please also see Micheal Gold review below as I can attest to the same awful experience! The had a holiday party to go to and received a dress last minute that was almost two sizes too large. I called the shop because as soon as I realize this they were about to close when I called her she said she would stay open too when I arrived which was at 6:31 a minute after they closed. I believe she heard the desperation in my voice that I needed a solution to my problem. When I came in there she sized me up and asked if my dress was designer. Naively I played along thinking that that was a compliment until she hit me with the price of tailoring the dress. Which was $55 I felt she was overcharging me but I didn't have many options. I asked if she could give me any type of a discount and she said she could do it for $49. Well as Michael Gold said they don't have any prices list it which really is a red flag. As I was telling her I might try to find another option and walking out the door, she asked me what was the problem and I said it was the price being too high. So she pulled out an envelope and said that she received "tips" today and all of a sudden she could do it for $30 as I was leaving. The felt a bit disingenuous especially since she only takes cash which I did not realize at the time due to lack of research and my time constraints. So I felt $30 was a reasonable price and when I came back the next day she didn't tailor it to my liking so I asked how much it would cost for adjustment as I was handing her my card. Additionally she told me it would cost an extra $5 to pay with a card. So when I asked for further adjustments she waived my card around and said you pay first what are we going to do about this money first. I got very upset and thought that was very disrespectful so I told her I would go get cash back because I did not appreciate the way she was talking to me and refuse to give her another dollar. I begin to make my way for the door with the dress on my shoulder. I had every intention of paying her I've never stolen a thing in my life ever been treated like a thief in fact I work in Corporate America and found her behavior very insulting! No one should ever be trested that way for asking for adjustments. She ran up behind me and pulled the dress off of me and said you pay while screaming and pointing her finger in my face constantly. That's when everything broke loose and I told her to stop pointing her finger in my face and left to go get the money. When I came back she closed up the shop and said she felt very disrespected and come back tomorrow. I had to take off work in the very morning because I wasn't going to let this dress sit in her store. In the end the dress turned out fine, but for the headache and the flat-out street brawl that I had to be dragged into was absolutely deplorable and disgusting. I will never stop foot in this shop again! Take it at your risk! read more

I stopped by with three pairs of pants that needed altering. I noticed they have a very small sign saying they only take cash or check, which was confirmed when I asked. I didn't have either on me as I had planned on using my debit card. This was quite inconvenient so I took my business elsewhere. In this day and age, pretty much all businesses these days take credit and debit cards. I prefer somewhere that makes transactions more convenient for the customer. read more

I have gone to Luyen for years, as has the rest of my family. We have been in Raleigh for almost 22 years now. We won't go anywhere else. They are always friendly, professional, and efficient. They are honest and upfront about prices and wait times. There is no one I trust more with my clothing. If I ever move away I am going to be sad about having to find a new tailor, because that is a stressful task. I highly recommend the Luyen Tailor Shop! read more

I brought 3 pairs of maternity jeans in on a Monday afternoon. The owner said I could pay then, or when I pick up. It was $42 and I had cash so I paid right then. He didn't give me a receipt or anything other than the ticket to come back. I figured we were fine, he does this everyday. I come back Thursday morning (when he said to), and he brings out the pants and says "that is $42." I said, "I paid you on Monday when I left these with you." He starts getting excited saying "no way. I always write "paid" on these tickets" (which he apparently just didn't do) and calls me a liar. I even tried to appeal to him, I said "I'm 6 mos pregnant , why would I purposely cheat you out of $42? Don't you even remember when I was here?" He's like "I am busy, see so many people everyday, you think i remember?" So I said "well that's why you forgot to write this down. I swear on my father's grave that I paid you, and I'm taking my pants and leaving now." As I turned to walk out he goes "sure, take your pants and you get in car accident." I couldn't believe it. I just walked out. This man is clearly wrong and took it to a level that is truly unacceptable. I would be remiss if I didn't post a negative review so our community knows what Luyen Tailor Shop at Stonehenge shopping center is all about. read more

I have used this tailor shop many times, always with good results. A couple of items needed a second pass to be perfect, which they gladly performed at no extra charge. Good prices, very efficient. read more

Avoid this place or use it at you own peril! I dropped off two suits to be altered upon the recommendation of the place that sold me the suit. First warning sign: There are no prices listed so you have no idea how this shop compared to other. Second warning: They accept cash only..in 2015 really?? I was quoted a price, paid in full expecting to pick up my suits in 5 days. Two days later, I get a phone call telling me that they (presumably the owner) forgot to charge me for this..and for that and that when I come to pick up the suits I would owe her nearly twice what I already paid. I go to the shop on Friday afternoon during business hours only to find that the owner/manager is gone, that the single tailor in the shop is not willing to call her and that he cannot explain why I am being charged double. I leave, not too pleased, and come back on Monday morning to again find that the manager/owner is not there and that the same dour, unhelpful tailor is manning the shop. We finally discover that the owner made a mistake adding up the original estimate, but still cannot figure out where the extra charges are coming from, never mind the fact that I never authorized the added expenses. I tell the tailor that at this point, I am willing to pay the difference due to the math error but not the unauthorized extra expenses and at the point where I start to dial the phone to call the police, he seems to see the light. Bottom line...deceptive business practices, unauthorized expenses, absent management, inability to explain what they are charging for and really piss poor customer service. read more
