I decided to stop giving my business to this laundromat/cleaners for a couple of reasons. The first time I dropped off some clothing items for dry cleaning (jeans, shorts) I was given a one-week turnaround time. There was no special care required for the jeans other than a request for laundry. It was not during any holiday or shutdown time. How ridiculous!!! Secondly, the laundromat is primarily frequented by minorities which is why I think the owner isn't concerned with repairing so many of the machines that have been unoperable for several months. After frequencing the facility for nearly a year and still seeing the same washers and dryers out of order, I inquired with the manager on duty as to why the machines weren't repaired timely which would speed up the wait time during peak hours? The woman became offensive and lied and stated that one washer cost $50,000 to repair. Now, we all know that is not true and most laundromat facilities rent the machines and there are service agreements in place for repairs. As well, I usually frequent the laundromat at night and the floors and machines are not always clean, despite staff being present but usually in the office with the door closed and on the phone on personal phone calls. The onsite manager was so offended by my timely repair question that she became unruly and unprofessional and then talked about my inquiry to a hispanic employee who decided to pick up the unprofessionalism and challenge me also. At the end of the day, my money matters and I choose to spend it where I receive good customer service and feel valued as a customer. read more

Overpriced and poor cleaning service, drop clothes for dry cleaning and came back with STAINS, they tried a 2nd time and got one stain out but back with another, plus my sweater had NOT been cleaned, it's stilled smelled of my perfume and was partially wrinkled, will NEVER EVER RETURN! read more

My washer and dryer at home aren't big enough for my quilts to fit so have to hit a nearby laundromat. I think I may have been here once before, but from now on it will be my go to place for the quilt washing. It's really well kept and there's a staff person available at all times to answer questions, help with change, or assist if need be. Plus there's TV's and lots of video games to keep anyone busy and ample seating. Good job!! read more

Decided to use this cleaners for the 1st time due to close proximity. Nice facility & everything looked clean. I dropped off 3 items so I'll update when I get them back. I was in & out quickly. She asked for my name, phone number, and when I needed the items picked up. She gave me a 2 day turn around which is OK with me. Also, I will get a text update when items are ready for pickup. I didn't notice a price list of how much items were to get dry cleaned so I had to ask. I would love a price list to take with me so I'll have an idea of the cost per item. They charged me $48 to take my leather coat for cleaning, or at least they told me they were charging me. Three months later its ready to be picked up. They ask me for $48, say they have no record of charging me. I give them my card again. When I get the coat back its not been cleaned at all. First the girl is on the phone with her boss and says the coat has clearly not been cleaned. One minute later she lies to me and states that it has been sent to be cleaned, even though there is dirt on the coat that can be scraped off with a fingernail. What? You just told your boss it wasn't cleaned! I ask for my money back, they say I have to wait 2 hours for the manager to show up, because she isn't able to refund without her. How incompetent can one place be? read more

This place is a 5 star laundromat! There is a staff attendant who is super helpful and nice. You walk in and there are several sizes of machines to choose from. Several different wash cycles to choose from as well. In order to use the machines, you must obtain a wash card. The fee is $1 exactly. If it don't have change, walk next door to the connected dry cleaners and they will be glad to help you! One you have your new card, you can then load money on it. Protect your card like cash because essentially it is cash! There is free wifi here, a play area for the kids, plenty of rolling baskets and don't be ashamed if you don't know how to use the machines. The staff attendance is super helpful! This location is right next to the Harris teeter. It's a good area. Nice and clean and quiet. If you are looking for a nice laundromat with working machines that isn't run down - THIS IS THE PLACE. read more

I headed on over to Durham Cleaners after Bull City Suds closed early, and that was no bueno for this guy. Luckily These guys were open pretty late on a Sunday night. Pros: there are tons of machines! Like seriously a ridiculous amount. Take a look a my pic, they could really start their own robot colony there's so many. Cons: It costs $5.25 to wash a load. Maybe I'm an old man in my 30's, but that's a lot of dough! Thankfully it's only 25 cents for every 6 minutes of drying BUT if you set the dryer at the highest heat setting it'll probably take about 20 minutes. So approximately 6 dollars to wash and dry a load. Not great, but definitely better than the price at the hotel where I'm staying. Minus one additional star because you are forced to spend 1 dollar on a transaction card that you then fill with dollars. read more

This review is for the laundromat portion of this business. My washing machine died, so while waiting for that to get replaced I came here to use the washers. It's a nice laundromat, clean, with plenty of machines. I used to live in Queens and used laundromats there for years, but this is the first one I've used since moving to Durham. If you haven't been here before, bring paper money with you. You have to buy a $1 card to load cash onto that you then use in the machines. The card-loading machine doesn't take coins. The cheapest wash cycle at the time of this review is $2.75 if you use the smallest machines that are in the back. Bigger machines cost more. There is detergent available for purchase, drink/snack vending machines, and arcade games. Lots of chairs and some tables to sit at. My wash cycle was over in a little over 20 minutes, so I was in and out pretty quickly. I didn't need to use the dryers. Overall a pleasant experience. read more

Accolades: spotlessly clean, appeared safe, everything worked, games if you have kids, tables & benches, very helpful staff. This is the best we've used in many years and many locations! Do not use this cleaners. They offer unfair pricing. I have taken my dress shirts to be cleaned there and each time the pricing was different for the same shirt. The explanation I received was that the feel and texture of the shirt dictates the price. I guess the feel and texture of the shirt changes each time I bring it in. Go figure. Additionally, the customer service by the employee capturing the clothing was disrespectful and unacceptable. Don't waste your time! read more

This was the only place nearby that was open in the later part of the evening so I decided to give it a try. All the poor reviews were spot on! I brought suits and a fall jacket for dry cleaning job and the items were inspected and taken in with no issues. I was told to pick it up 3 days later, but when I went to pick up my clothes they said the job was not done yet and declined to give me a reason other than "they are still working on it in the back". I come back the next day and my suit is given back, but was told that my fall jacket was not ready yet. Again, no reason was given other than "it was still being worked on". They told me they would call me when it was ready. 8 days go by and I decide to give the laundromat a call to inquire about the status of my Fall jacket. I am told that it is ready, but that there is a stain on it now and that they can continue to work on it if I want to try and remove it. I wanted to inspect the jacket before asking to have it re-cleaned. If they damaged it during cleaning, why would I want to send it back to them?! (if not for further damages) I quickly go to the store after work and when they give back my jacket there is a large blue blob on my green jacket. They refused to issue a refund (they forced me to pay for all the jobs when i picked up my suits) and claimed that it must have been dirty when i brought it in. This is not the case since they would have noted it was stained prior to working on it (they did not do this). They then started fumbling about how older clothing may have "hidden-stains" that come out during cleaning. The entire scenario was just ludicrous and unprofessional. I HIGHLY recommend AVOIDING this place at all costs. It is worth waiting for the weekend or to leave work early to take it to another cleaners. read more

This location was nice and clean, not too busy, and lots of machines for people to use. There were some chairs and tables with TVs for entertainment while you wait. The price seemed a little steep, but I haven't been at a laundromat in 15+ years so maybe I'm misremembering prices. We put our clothes in the load and went to Starbucks at Harris Teeter to wait and it was a very lovely afternoon. read more

When they lose your clothes -- and they will -- your ticket is useless. They need a physical description of what they've lost. Their other annoying habit is that some or all of your clothes will not be ready when the ticket says they are. They must be held back for a mystery stain that you can't see but they can. Fine, but why not tell somebody? They'll give you back some of your clothes, you'll pay for all, then you'll get home and see what's missing. In fact, when the lost clothes were lost, I figured they'd just been held back for stains again. My mistake. If you go there, ALWAYS check your clothes against the ticket. This inability to trust them is why I switched to a much better cleaner up the road. I shouldn't have to work that hard. read more

so i decided to go to the cleaners to clean my quinceañera dress and they charged me $261!! at first i was like what? why so much but then thought about it and probably bc it's a quince dress not sure but they wasn't even nice like it lowkey looked suspicious but they said it starts at $250 but then i'm like okay whatever and decide to call other places and this lady told me it would start at $100 but doesn't go past $200 i was like wow and that it takes 1-3 days to pick up but here at the cleaners told me it's gonna take 30 days and then i thought i was like what if they rent my dress or something so i got my refund but it seemed like they were going to charge me again but i'm not sure it just felt weird and they didn't help me with my dress or anything but the laundry mat is a good place to wash but the cleaners i don't suggest it very high pricing for no reason. read more

This is my preferred laundromat in Durham because it is the cleanest and the nicest one. I drive past two other laundromats to get to this one. Having said that, let me say this. If you don't keep your eyes open all the time you will get screwed. Just today I put a load into machine number 34. It has three bins for your chemicals : Bin A for detergent for prewash if you choose to do prewash, Bin B for detergent for wash, and Bin C for whatever low-class stinky stuff you want to put on your clothes during the rinse cycle. Well, in the prewash cycle the machine flushed both bins A and B, which means that in the prewash you get twice as much soap, and in the actual wash you get none -- it was all used up. I always watch the machines because many of them do this or something like this. When I reported this fault to the very nice attendants, they said that this is the way it is supposed to be. Well obviously it is not the way that it is supposed to be but they just insisted. Later a "manager" came up to me and wanted to know what my beef was. I showed her the machine and explained that Bin A is for prewash detergent and Bin B is for wash detergent and the machine loaded both soaps into the prewash, leaving none for the wash. She conceded that it was a fault but told me that it didn't matter, the clothes would get washed anyway. When I moved to Durham, the first thing that I noticed was that incompetence is the baseline here. Okay, fine, if that's your culture I'm required by law to respect it. But I don't have to support it. So bottom line if you want a nice clean laundromat, this is it. But watch the machine through all the cycles and if it doesn't do the right things at the right time ask for another wash in another machine and tell them why. Don't worry about being a pest. They'll have heard it before. read more

I have used this cleaner for the past year after a friend recommended it but that ends today! Two weeks ago I dropped off several items to be cleaned and some to be altered. I have never been a fan of the staff at this cleaners but for the previous trips the time, price, and service were all good. Today I returned with a blazer that I picked up two weeks ago but had not wore with a complaint that it was not cleaned to my standard. The first employee said "smells like dry cleaning to me" after smelling the garment in the left arm after I specifically stated it was the RIGHT side of the garment that was not clean. She then asked another employee to come over and the woman looked and said well you picked it up two weeks ago, keep in mind that I dropped off 5+ items, we normally do not re-clean if it is not within 24 hours! I say okay but it's not an item I wear often so it wasn't until yesterday that I realized that this one item was not cleaned well. This employee proceeds to explain that this time they will re-clean the blazer but in the future they can not. To this I responded with never mind I'll go somewhere else and not return here. I'm a customer who spent $60+ at your business and I bring one item back one time that I'm unsatisfied with you have a poor attitude because it was not within 24 hours. No where is this policy stated. I will no longer spend my money in a place that can not stand behind their work. Poor customer service is a common occurrence here find another cleaner! read more

This cleaners sends me coupons in the mail and then will not let me use the coupon because I did not show it when I initially brought the clothes in. Totally unsatisfactory. There are no signs in the business alerting customers to their policy and the staff did not ask if I had a coupon when I brought the clothes in, which, incidentally, I had in in my pocket, but I did think you had to show it. No other business I have ever dealt with puts conditions on coupons like this. I have a choice of dry cleaners in Durham and I won't be going to this one any more. read more

I love the Durham Cleaners, Woodcroft. I have never been to the other location on MLK. The owners really care about quality in the Woodcroft location for their dry cleaning. One of the stellar employees, Dorothy Gosslen, is very professional and I have complete confidence in the great work the place will do with her at the helm. She should be promoted to Customer Service Manager and Trainer, as she takes pride and ownership of her job every time to ensure your satisfaction. I have seen her train other staff too, and she is an outstanding trainer. I have never had a problem in all the years I have been going here. They are gentle with your clothes / items, the place is spotless, and the people are so pleasant that I really enjoy going there to drop off my clothes. This is the epitome of quality, customer service, and good pricing. This is a great place. read more

I hadn't been to a laundromat in many years so I spent a few moments studying the machines and the payment methods. I come to this laundry because it is clean, safe and has a lot of machines. However, I have become increasingly frustrated with this place because their dryers DO NOT work!!! I put about 10 items in one for 18minutes and they were still wet afterwards! Its very frustrating, because you are just wasting money. As a result I will no longer come to this place, instead I will go back to the coin laundry in Chapel Hill. I rather drive a little extra and have my clothe dry in 18-24 minutes than spend 45minutes waiting for a dryer to dry 10 things. read more

I had been dropping clothes off for dry cleaning for years to the Woodcroft location and had been generally pleased with the service. They ruined a pair of pants- they were a bright white and when i picked them up, they were the color of used dish water. After several weeks of back and forth, the only resolution they offered was a $20 credit, for ruining a $98 pair of pants. I won't be going back. read more

I have been taking my shirts to them for years. This week I discovered they did not return the cuffs to one of my dress shirts. On 12/22 I went back to see if they had them and was given the run around. The representative told me they would call me back that day after speaking to the owner, which never occurred. I have gone to this dry cleaner several times. The service is mediocre. It always bothers me that the staff dresses so frumpy. My clothes come out nice but I hate how they shove a ton of items in each garmet bag. I got some tailoring done here. The items came out nicely but i felt it was pretty expensive compared to most places. Overall, the dry cleaning quality is good but the staff could improve. I feel the drive thru service is worthless, every time I pull up I wait forever and finally just go in the store. I will still use this cleaner on occassion but it is not my first choice. read more

Been going here for dry cleaning for years with usually OK results. However, my most recent trip will be my last. I stopped by on a Saturday to pickup items that were supposed to be ready Wednesday. I should have known this wasn't going to go well when the woman at the counter took 3-4 tries to get my phone number in correctly. She also kept asking for my zip code, then, after 4-5 asks and looks of confusion, she said she meant area code. She was either drunk, on drugs, or just grossly incompetent. After 10 minutes, she was doing something in the back, presumably looking for my clothes. I finally left since I was at the drive through with 2 crying children in the car under the age of 3 and had somewhere to be. I came back later and they eventually found all our items, but again, it took a long time. Probably 15 minutes. That is a ridiculous amount of time to ring up fewer than 10 laundry and dry clean items. And I was double charged for alterations. I tried to get it fixed, but it became apparent that was going to make the whole thing even longer, so I figured my time was worth more than $8 of over charging. Unless every cleaners in town is even worse, I won't be back. Which is unfortunate because they are so convenient. read more

Today Durham Cleaners lost a long-term customer. I had my suit jacket and bow tie cleaned and was charged the SAME AMOUNT FOR EACH GARMENT! I expect to pay over $5 for my jacket because I am a large man and my lined jacket has two sleeves, a lapel, a pleat in the back, etc. But my tie is a thin, totally flat garment with a very small portion of it only 2.5" wide with the remainder only three quarters of an inch wide! I asked how could the cost possibly be the same and was told "I don't know, I just work here". I asked for a manager but he/she either was not there or the clerk was trained to say that. So fine. I am home with my garments and considering how many street corners in Durham have a dry cleaning business, it will be no problem at all to find one with more fair pricing and decent customer service. read more

This place is great. I lost the last bit of my weed Saturday night. Woke up wanting to smoke. Googled Laundromat's open on Sunday in Durham and this place was the closest. Washed my clothes and then after getting them out of dryer number 13, on top of another dryer, I felt something else in there. It was a nugget of killer bud about the size of a walnut.
