The inside is pretty unassuming- just a cute little diner with train themed decor. But the menu was killer! They had classic diner food, as well as some unique dishes, and, great drinks!!! I had one of their specials that day, which was French toast with fruit and almonds, and Derek had a breakfast burrito. On a morning drive from Sacramento to Humboldt, it was determined by my car passengers that Redding would be a great mid-point to stop and get a brunch meal. We ended up here at Trendy's and were not disappointed. The diner definitely gives off a small "mom & pop" type old school diner; a countertop, multiple 4-seated tables, and a backroom with more seating (although more cramped). The lady who greeted us was small in stature but had a huge smile along with a personality that could challenge the sun. My choice of meal was the Shroom In Cali omelet (egg whites) and side of biscuit. The omelet was chockful of mushrooms and plenty of melted cheddar cheese; the avocado on top added the perfect balance of a creamy texture. My friend's got other items but their side of pancakes were big enough to cover a manhole and fluffy enough to sleep on. The addition of a bottle of their renowned orange juice was the perfect touch to our brunch. If you ever pass through Redding and are in need of a meal, please make your wat to Trendy's. Looking at this place from the outside, you wouldn't expect much at all from a dingy little establishment with a dive-like interior. I ordered the TBT sandwich. It was very good. Real turkey, thick smokey bacon fresh slices of avocado and Swiss cheese on a toasted crescent. Wow what an incredible find for breakfast in Redding. Read up on Trendy's on YELP and decided to try it. Inside seating and plenty of space when we arrived. Food was delicious and a very hearty portion for everyone. My hash was good, not piping hot but very good. The hand pressed egg sandwich was delicious too. Our server suggested going with the OJ carafe and what was a great suggestion. The home made jellies and jams are worth trying. The biscuits were huge and I enjoyed my pancake too. I'm soooo disappointed. I heard that they were under new ownership and you can totally tell. My bacon was over cooked as well as my eggs and my potatoes were not cooked all the way with barely any garlic or herbs. The JAM! Ughhhh previous to coming here years ago Jam was the best and you could truly tell it was homemade . The Jam I received had so much gelatin in it. It was horrible . The owners are super nice and friendly, our waitress is super friendly polite and carry friendly conversations with us whenever we stop by. We have tried some of the seasonal items and some of the staple items in the menu. Everything is absolutely delicious and super yummy. The quality and quantity is so good. The prices are very reasonable. The dining area is family and friends friendly. Moderately quiet, and clean. Everything is ready for guests and they are so quick to serve. Now the food.... good but not great. I ordered their chimichurri steak. It's an 8oz ribeye steak. Glad I ordered it medium rare because it came out medium. The chimichurri sauce it's self was a bit on the oily side for me. The home potatoes didn't have much flavor either. My husband ordered the breakfast tacos with chorizo. Now these were really good. Today was our second visit to Trendy's. While the location is not pretty, the food and service more than make up for it. Prices are reasonable and there is more than enough food. The first time we were there, I had chilaquiles special and my husband had the country sausage breakfast with eggs and pancakes. He is picky about both his sausage and his pancakes. The sausage was outstanding and the pancakes light and fluffy. The eggs cooked perfectly to order. My chilaquiles were outstanding as well. Just the right amount of heat. Had I requested it, they would have added even more heat. Today, he had the same breakfast as the first times. I had the corned beef hash breakfast with scrambled eggs And sourdough toast. The corned beef hash is house made and it is sooooo good. I could easily just have that for a meal. And let's not forget their fresh squeezed orange juice! Yum! PS. Their ice tea is brewed to perfection. Not too strong, not too weak and NOT bitter. AND they clearly don't use the coffee maker to brew it. The patio is dog friendly and they will bring a water dish for the dogs. We had the same server both times and she is just a delight. Will return, yet again, on our next trip through. read more

My wife did a quick search on Yelp so we could get something to eat before leaving Redding. She found this place and we decided to check it out. We arrived about 11am and it did not appear to be very busy. We asked if we could sit outside. There were about 6 tables there with what appeared to be a sort of make shift sun cover to allow them to keep serving during the pandemic. Two of the tables were occupied. We chose a table that allowed for us to also enjoy the sunshine and were provided menus.  My wife ordered the chicken caprese sandwich with onion rings and I ordered the breakfast burrito minus salsa and sour cream. Our meals arrived in a timely manner and looked delicious. During this time many of the tables began filling up as well. My wife went in to use the restroom and said it was very cute inside and looked much bigger on the inside than what we had originally assumed. The food was okay--the house special panko crusted French toast was nice but a bit heavy (I should have known), but my husband's breakfast plate with sausage, eggs and toast was better. Starting off. The food is fantastic. I have serious dietary restrictions so it's usually ham and eggs for me. This time I also got a HUGE house made biscuit. And house made boysenberry jam. Yummo. My better half had huevos rancheros with chorizo. I told her I wish I could make her moan with pleasure like that dish did! And to be fair, she was right. I ain't that good. Here's a tip, get a side portion of the tomatillo sauce that comes on the huevos rancheros, for whatever you order. It is just that damn good. A classic American diner brunch experience. The portions are sizeable and flavors are very familiar. We ordered the chicken fried steak (side of pancake), 2 orders of panko crusted French toast, and the bacon and eggs. We were very pleasantly surprised by the large size of the pancake side (the size of a full dinner plate!). The chicken fried steak was well seasoned, but the potatoes and gravy were both a bit underseasoned. The pancakes were delightfully fluffy and sweet, and the French toast had a great crunch because of the panko crusting. The bacon was pretty average though. Trendy's sold a few years back, and the new owners kept much of the same menu. But they didn't keep the same ingredients, cooks or processes. You can throw what I had previously said about their potatoes out of the window, and their food is simple diner food at this point in time. What a shame. This place was special. It's not bad. But it's just not exceptional. If you are in that area, not a bad choice. But I'm no longer jumping up and down about it. read more
