I had a warranty issue with my Electra Townie bike. I'd anticipated that I would incur some type of charge for this warranty work, but I was charged a $50 service charge AND an additional $20 warranty submittal charge. This is nonsense! All this, plus I was told that the part would be received in a couple days. It wasn't! Then, I was told that once the part was received, it would be installed the next day. It wasn't! Yet, I received an email when is was completed directing me to pick up the bike right away or incur a bike storage charge. I went in myself to look for a bike and neither the guy or the girl working behind the desk bothered to look me in the eye or smile. Nothing! And when I asked for help picking a bike, the entire time the sales guy DID NOT LOOK AT ME! He was looking past my shoulder or away the entire time I was trying the bikes. The service technicians speak condescendingly every time I bring my bike in to get it fixed. Brought my bike in on a Saturday because of a broken part and said I'd need it in a week if it was possible. They said it would be and then when I call after hearing nothing for a week, they call me back to tell me the same part is broken and they need more time to order the part. We had a visit in November and we were looking for bikes for my kids for Christmas and the gentleman who helped us was more than willing to help. We know that their bikes are expensive, but we are avid bike riders so we wanted to invest in a bike that would last a long time. The gentleman helped size the kids for their bikes and even called a local Trek store for a bike they didn't have in stock. Once the bikes are purchased, they kept them in the store until Christmas Eve and they even put a bow on them. Great job Trek. I have purchased a Neko SLX, and several accessories for my fiancée at this location. The service was excellent. The bike was customized perfectly for her comfort. The NEKO SLX is the ladies equivalent of the 8.5 DS in the men's line. If you want a commuter with excellent components they are great picks. This bike is also perfect for hard packed trails. I have only had to replace the chain which is normal after a couple thousand miles. Haven't had any other issue. The bike is still whisper quiet and smooth shifting. Fast Light Quiet Responsive breaks and shifting I own a Trek 8.5 DS and have put several thousand miles on it. I recently experienced pain in the prostate area. I have never experienced any discomfort riding, and so I didn't initially think it was related to riding. Previously I owed another trek and put around 5k miles on it. (Without discomfort) I had several tests run with my doctor and all came back normal. So I suspected it was my bike seat at that point. (This is not uncommon especially for long distance riders.) I decided to have Sean Dawoodi, the manager of the Trek store in Naperville run a pressure analysis test on me while I rode with different saddles. (Please see the video and photos of this I posted.) When I arrived Sean had a number of saddles ready to be put on my bike. My bike was put on an indoor trainer, and the sensor was slipped over each saddle. (The sensor is like a thin seat cover. You can barely tell its there.) It records each ride and let's you compare every saddle side my side. By using this tool Sean was able to tell if I needed my seat angled further down, moved forward or backward, or turned left or right. It also told us exactly where my body distributes my weight. We tried 4 different saddles. Sean took his time, and adjusted each saddle to perfection so we got a good recording on each one. My old saddle was putting too much pressure on my prostate. Limiting the blood flow and causing inflammation. Using this technology we were able to choose a comfortable saddle that completely eliminated all pressure allowing me to ride again. Not only that but my sit bones are also much more comfortable. The only way I can describe it is imagine going from riding on concrete to riding on a seat made of baby ducks. (Not that I was using a cheap seat in the first place, but our bodies needs do change and I had ridden quite a few miles on the stock seat.) The service does cost $100.00, BUT if you love cycling you cannot put a price on your comfort and health. I cannot stress enough it was worth every penny, and this was not a rush job. Sean did an excellent job! Be sure to call ahead to make sure they can fit you in. This process can take an hour or so. (Depends how long it takes to find the seat perfect for you.) This is just one of the many things that this shop offers to make sure you have a wonderful experience riding. Their mechanics are also excellent! It is a hike for me so I wanted to love this place to convince myself they deserved my business, Voila! Daniel was quick and responsive. He found my bike in inventory and then took me out back for a quick test drive on a model that was a step up. I loved the bike and agreed to buy the in box bike. On my mission to purchase a bike this afternoon, I walked into Trek of Naperville with a general idea of what I was looking for. I asked a couple questions and was a little disappointed that there was no real incentive to purchase from this store. Selection was limited, kickstands were not included, and the prices were inconsistent. After learning that the bike size we needed was a little different than originally expected, I looked at the price tag of a bike we had our eye on. I was told it was a 2018 model and what colours it came in. When I said we would take it, I was informed that the price I saw on the tag was incorrect and that the price was higher than what was shown. The tag was then switched out for a higher priced tag. Feeling uneasy, I looked online to research the model and found out that the bike was not a 2018 and the prices were not consistent with what the store told us. We left and ended up purchasing from a more community-oriented store that not only had the actual newer model of bike, but since they were having a sale, the price tag was actually less than what I saw, plus they give you a free tune within the first year or so of your bicycle purchase. read more

While the service was friendly, I still don't have dependable tires after purchasing two new ones and three trips. The tires themselves are just fine but they keep inserting extremely oversized inner tubes. Trip 1 the new tire was flat as soon as we got home. Trip 2 lasted a day. Trip 3 waiting for them to open today which isn't until 12pm. Super frustrating to have spent the time and money to get all new tires and tubes and still at square one :( read more

All I know how to do with bikes is ride a bike, and I was trying to install a new little piece for a children's riding back carriage. I was struggling with it -- its alignment, fit, and one thing breaking after another being fixed -- and became frustrated by the process so I brought it into professionals, namely the Trek Bicycle Store. I brought it in and it turns out there was a piece on my bike that was getting a little old and faulty, so the staff (Eric, maybe?) put on a simple replacement that took maybe a few minutes and everything was good to go, including the carriage attachment. I asked how much and he said it was free, don't worry about it. I insisted, and he insisted back that it wasn't any trouble. So I asked to buy a new bike seat, at least, and he gave me a good quality seat that was a reasonable cost. The prices and offerings in the store seemed perfectly reasonable, but the service was beyond excellent. I will now be using this store for my bike needs moving forward. read more

It was time for a new mountain bike so I did some internet investigating and then hit up a few of the bike stores in Naperville. I decided on going with a Trek, and the guys at the Trek Store in Naperville were more knowledgable than the sales people that helped me at the other two stores I visited. This location is very nice, clean and very close to my house which is nice for any future service I may need. My only small tiny little complaint was their inventory, I had narrowed down my selection to two different models and they did not have either one in the color I prefered in the size frame I needed but they had several in that color at their other store. Not wanting to travel to the other store in Downers Grove or wait for them to transfer I purchased the bike they had on their floor in the other color combination. I purchased the bike and a few accesories, they got it all ready while I waited, made a few adjustments to the bars and seat to better fit me, installed bar-ends and other accesories I purchased. This shop is located in a strip mall just off of a local bike path which makes it convienient if you are out riding and need a repair or even just some air for your tires. Would have given 5 stars if they had more bike inventory on hand but still a great experience. Based on the other review by Mike O it appears they have an inventory issue, hopefully they will address it in the future. read more

Purchased my bike here a couple a weeks ago. Sales team was helpful. Took it on a bike ride the day after i picked it up and got a flat. Had the local bike rack repair it. The tire went flat again a coupe days later. Took it to trek to get looked at. Turns out there was a thorn in the tire. Instead of giving me the option to take it back to bike rack, they replaced the tube and charged me $25. A bit ridiculous for a bike that i rode twice. I realize a flat isn't their fault, but discuss things before jumping the gun and then charging you for it. read more

I cannot say enough nice things about this place and the people within. The staff is amazingly helpful and the store is always clean. They have been completely slammed busy with all the Covid madness going on, and yet, they still give each customer the time needed to get educated to make the right purchase. Because of how busy they are, there is sometimes a wait, but these guys and their kindness and expertise are definitely worth whatever wait required. They have always gone above and beyond and given me a lot of their time to answer all of my questions. They have also been extremely helpful in the service department. I transported my new bike carelessly and bent the derailer and the mechanics had it repaired and working like new in a matter of minutes. They are knowledgeable and capable and I trust them implicitly in all things bicycle. I bought a bike from them and when I am ready to upgrade, I will DEFINITELY buy any bikes and accessories from them.
