Motobecane finished product "top notch work!!!!"
Oscar R.

Visited this store again 7/1/2019 but this time my Bike required much more work and again the experience and customer service was excellent. This time I worked with Austin and Anna. My bike looks better than before and also performs much better. They recommended several options and were very easy to work with. They completed the bike earlier than expected. I look forward to working with Pedal & Spoke on all my bike needs. The people working here are really nice. My friend and I were biking on the Fox River Trail when we noticed her tires were in need of air. Since this place is located right off the trail, we stopped in to see if we could fill the tires up. The guy working was very nice and brought us the right needle head and pumped up the tires free of charge! I've taken my bike to the team at pedal & spoke several times over the years. This is my first review, but the same applies for every time I have visited. Knowledgeable, friendly and efficient! The building, people and location make this a true neighborhood shop. Stopped in today to repair or replace my mtb rear wheel. Discussed available options and went with a replacement. They got the cassette, tire, etc. moved over to a new wheel while I waited which I was not expecting. Easy to follow covid-19 related processes in place and they are BUSY. Thank you to Kirk for taking care of me. See you on the trails!

Used bike!

I have been thinking of getting a bike for a while and after going to a few shops I found this place on Yelp - I tried to go here a while back but because of covid they were only taking appointments and they were very busy. Anyways, I got here and tried out two bikes and ended up buying a used bike actually. They cleaned it up nice and it looked brand new. What's a nice tidbit is they are located on the river which has a bike trail - so perfect place to test ride bikes. The bike I got is perfect and the customer service was so exceptional they answered all my questions and made sure I was in the right bike for my needs! I highly recommend pedal and spoke! Thank you :)

I can't compliment them enough, my first bike in over 40 years and I was wobbly to say the least. Pete our salesperson never laughed or made me feel silly. Another employee in the parking lot asked if he could help me with relearning at all. What a great group of people, the bike I chose was affordable and perfect for me. They made sure we had everything we need and understood the trunk rack, etc. We took our first ride today and no more wobbling, it really is a lot of fun. They do it all here so skip the big box stores and support a local business.

Her bike. The tire color was not easy to find but with some thoughtful consulting, we made it look even better! Thanks Graham!

Ask the Community - Pedal & Spoke

Hello im looking to fix the back tire on my gotrax z4 lite Ebike 48V 6.4 AH Is there something you can do? Thank you, KL

Good morning, Kai. If it is just a flat fix or tire replacement, we can get you back rolling again. Typically, with the e-bike flats, we will have you leave it with us for a day or two, and then you will be notified when it is complete. If it needs…

When I arrived--before I had even taken the bike out of the car--an employee came out with a terrible attitude; he didn't even say hello. I explained what the company had told me to do, but he claimed to know nothing about the issue and refused to accept the bike. I called the company and handed him the phone so he could speak with them; eventually, he agreed to take it. He just said, "Fine, leave it there," turned around, and walked back into the shop!! An electric bike is really too heavy for one person to handle; I had to ask my wife to help me get it out of the car while the young man just watched from the window. I know that isn't technically his job, but come on--there should be some basic courtesy or willingness to help customers. I really do not recommend this place. Unfortunately, I didn't catch his name, but I hope he sees this message and rethinks his attitude if he actually likes his job. Customers come for services, not to ask for free favors.

I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. All doods working there when I was in. Way heavy on the dood vibe. Captive audience syndrome. Sigh. Dood has to do what a dood does. I avoid places like this. Going to the bike collective in Rogers Park instead next time.

Previously my mom had bought a bicycle here but I had never visited the store. Since I was in the need of a new bike, since my original bike was accidentally donated, I figured this was a great place to start after my mom had such a good experience. Social distancing measures are still under affect so when I stopped by only four customers were allowed in at a time. While I did have to wait a bit to be helped it was worth it for the customer service. When I mentioned what I was looking for the employee (who I believe was one of the owners) was very knowledgeable and pointed me in the right direction. Of course it is best to test drive a bike just like a car so I rode around the parking lot for a couple of laps while he explained how to shift gears and shared other information about the bike. I ended up trying two the second being the one I ended up buying! It rode similar to the first but has that retro look which I was sort of looking for. Overall the experience was amazing and I will definitely stop by again especially because I want to try one of their protein shakes.
