Friendly family owned since the 1980s early 80s at that. It was an overall really strong experience. 4.5 stars ! Got our 5 year old a bike here. Pros- easy to get to from Naperville and a good supply of kids bikes even after the ravages of Covid. Cons: I found the nickel and dime-ing us annoying. Staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I'm 28 and new to the bike world (haven't ridden one since I was 16)! I brought in my Ancheer 20" City eBike, because the back tire popped. I got thicker wheels, a new seat, a phone holder and a rear view mirror! I'm an avid road and mountain cyclist and I only just only discovered this wonderful gem of a bike shop. Needed a new saddle for my road bike. Those who ride know how hard it can be to find 'just the right saddle.' I brought in my son's adapted bike with a broken chain guard. The owner was very helpful. He quickly diagnosed the problem and even made other adjustments. We got it back very quickly, in spite of this being a very busy season. They charged a very reasonable price and helped load it in/out of the van. I have taken my bike for tuneups and tire repairs. The serivce has been very fast- on the spot- for tire repairs. When I first went there, they noticed immediately that my gears had been manufacturer recalled. They filled out the paperwork for me and installed a new set of gears free. They didn't have to mention it and I was glad they did. The selection of accessories is quite good also. read more

I had 2 flat tires that were dry rotted after the winter. I e-mailed the shop on Thursday when the store was closed and got a quick response indicating it would take 1-2 to have new tires and tubes installed on the bicycle. I dropped the Cannondale Bicycle off the next morning and received a call within the same business to pick the repaired bike up. I was given information on my options and the repair is perfect. Called to simply ask if the business is minority owned. Got nothing but deflections and non answers until I had to say "okay since you're not answering me I assume the answer is no?". His first response was "why does that matter?" followed by the typical "can I get your name?" To which I responded "I'd just like to be able to reinvest in my community just as white people do everyday without a second thought". He responded "well we are a community". After I said "I assume the answer is no?" I was promptly hung up on. I tried to call back a literal minute later to elaborate on my thoughts further, but to very little surprise someone else answered. read more

Having a really good local bike shop is like having a good spouse... they enhance your life greatly and can make you a better version of you. Having now purchased 2 mid-range mountain bikes from Bicycles, Etc, I can tell you that these guys are the real deal. They're a reliable source for new bikes, and more importantly they do awesome work when your ride needs service (and they all do eventually at some point). I just bought a new Cannondale MTB to replace my fairly ancient Gary Fisher that I bought here back in 2007. After a few rides I had a handful of silly little problems (loose cables, seatpost sliding, etc)- all typical of a new bike that gets ridden a lot. Some of these were pretty trivial, but the guys here are super cool and fixed the issues for me, free of charge. When I started having more trouble with my wheels (spokes breaking, rim bending) these guys worked out a deal with Cannondale to get me a brand new set of heavy duty wheels to replace my clearly crappy factory ones. They didn't even charge me extra labor to do the work. You'll definitely pay a premium here for bikes and service compared to Target or Wal-Mart. What you'll get in return is an awesome team that really knows their stuff, they stand behind their products, and they want you as a customer for life. I'm doing an Ironman in 2017, and there's no doubt in my mind I'll be buying my next tri bike from these guys. Kudos to John, Mike, and the rest of the team here. Just a brief "me, too" review. I recently took the guts of a malfunctioning exercise bicycle (purchased elsewhere) in to them and received friendly consultation and an inexpensive repair. Worst customer service ever. Needed a bike for son's birthday. 3 Other independent dealers had the exact same bike for $30 less. They would not price match. We had to suck it up because they had the color combo the boy wanted ready to go (our fault for waiting) or, I would have ordered from the shop in Downers Grove or Lombard and waited the week for the next shipment instead of dropping $330 from a jerk named Brian. The sales tag said the kick stand was included. Brian added it to my bill that I didn't notice until I got home. I turned right around and said what's up with this? This shop has really gone above & beyond for me. I was a little nervous to purchase a new bike -- this was the first time I'd be spending the money to buy something more high quality (fitness hybrid), and I was worried that I didn't know the right questions to ask or details to consider. Mike was incredibly accommodating and helpful: on the first day I went in, he talked me through some of my options and made a suggestion for me to try. When I came back two days later to test ride the bike, we quickly realized it wasn't a good fit and had to go back to the drawing board. Over the course of two hours, we tried a series of sizes and styles to figure out what was going to work best. He offered thoughtful solutions and took the time to explain each factor to me (which is not an easy feat because I ask a lot of questions) -- all while respecting my modest budget and keeping my best interests in mind. He was friendly, upbeat, and supportive throughout the entire process. After my first longer ride on the bike we finally picked I was stoked because it was a fit, but also noticed some friction noise when using the high gears. I stopped by and Mike kindly tuned it for me so I could get back on the road. Absolutely great -- I imagine I'll be a customer here for a long time. read more

I brought in my bike to fix as pedal's screw threads are breaking and a pedal is falling off (due to my own stupidity). I immediate went online to buy another crankset to replace the old crankset (which holds the pedal). Well, it didn't fit and I fear that I could spend a lot more money without resolving the problem and I brought my bike to Bicycle Etc. They fixed it earlier than their estimated schedule, so I am very pleased. The price is more than reasonable. Let me put it this way, I would have spent more in time and money in trying different parts to get my own bike fixed if I didn't bring this to this bike shop. read more

My experiences at Bicycles, Etc. have all been positive. The staff is friendly and willing to answer questions. They recently repaired one of my bikes - solving a problem with the bottom bracket and chain that I couldn't. The bike pedals smoothly again with no noise. I recently moved to Green Trails. I own 6 bikes and have dealt with many different bike shops over the years. However this one was the worst ever. I had one bad experience at Bikes ETC and decided to write it off and gave them a second chance a week later with another issue. They immediately lost my business forever within 1 minute of dealing with the jerk at the counter. I went to Trek on Ogden and they were delightful, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They charged me 10.00 for what Bikes ETC quoted me 125.00. Never will step foot in their door again. Happy Trails read more

I just wanted to write a review because I will never forget coming here and being disappointed. I was riding my bike, when one of the pedals came off. Luckily, I was near the shop, so I decided to ask if they could quickly screw it back on for me. Well, apparently, even for that they required about ten dollars which I did not have on me at the time. It just seems like they would want to be friendly and offer me some help, but instead I ended up walking my bike all the way back. This had happened once before, and I got it done for me for FREE at an AUTO REPAIR SHOP (possibly midas?) from someone who just wanted to help out. I guess there aren't too many people willing to help one another out these days. read more

Customer service was very pleasant. The store is very popular, because everytime I'm there there are customers buying bikes, dropping off or picking up repaired bikes. I've been there with my son's bike, which has no manufacturer. Brian found a way to fix it without me buying a new gear for $100 (online). I took my bikes to have them fixed and tuned up. The customer service was great. I think the prices are reasonable. Some of the equipment is expensive, but that isn't because they gouge you, it is an expensive part. When I need a new key for my car it's $250. Everything is way too expensive. read more

I went here the other day while killing time before class at Benedictine. The staff was awesome. I went in to price out cycle shorts, but when I left, I had my name on a list serv for rides the shop makes, a sample of chamois butt'r, tons of information about proper chamois thickness, what to look for in cycle shorts, where to get cycle shoes, and why people do reenactments. These guys were awesome. I only give them 4 stars though, because I didn't like their selection of bikes. I don't have any experience with their mechanics.
