Absolutely loved our dinner there tonight on the outside deck. Highly recommend the pineapple moscato sangria, seafood & medallions, lemon cake, and cheesecake with berries. Amanda G was a wonderful waitress with a great personality...joked with my Dad. read more

The food here was delicious - Heather, the chef and owner, concocted the best soup I've ever had. It was a chorizo, bean, and greens stew that was spectacular and perfect on a cold March day. I had quiche that had a flaky, melt-in-your-mouth crust. My husband had a steak salad that he said was also delicious. She served an appetizer of scallops with fresh tomatoes and spinach - yum yum. If I'm ever back in this part of the country I will definitely return. read more

We were there for lunch. The atmosphere is good but the food is not anything special. Anyone could make what we were served. It was not worth the price by any means. Disappointing! read more

Adorable! So happy we found this place through Fallingwater. My husband and I enjoyed a delightful lunch after a tour through the houses of Polymath Park. The restaurant was peaceful and quiet. There are not many restaurants in the area, so it was nice to find some tasty food! Our server was so sweet and helpful. I agree with another review that some classy, relaxing music might better fit the mood and the large window next to our table definitely needed washed as it distracted from the view, but overall, I really enjoyed our visit and would recommend it to others. read more

Went here with the whole family for a double birthday dinner. The food and atmosphere is out of this world. Not something you'd think you'd find in the mountains of PA, more like a great place on a hill overlooking a big city. We shared the appetisers around the table, and the flaming cheese was very unique and tasty. Everything was fresh and great. The main courses were also amazingly fresh and superb! I had the trout, my wife had the flaming filet, and the rest of the fam had crab cakes, salmon and the shrimp/seafood platter. Everything was great! And the service was fantastic!!! read more

Great Experience!!! The atmosphere in a POD was wonderful. Service by Emily added to the experience. She was friendly, energetic and was hospitable. The food was exquisite. What an appetizer, a conglomerate of a main course and parfait to conclude. I would definitely love to come again. read more

My family was turned away at the door at lunch. We were told they were "not taking walk-ins today". Almost all of the tables were empty. It seemed they were trying to close early and were denying seats to that end. They were unhelpful, officious and unsympathetic. We experienced the opposite of hospitality and would have preferred a customer-focused response to the situation. They did not suggest luncheon alternatives to us. We kinda "got the hand". I'd say reservations are a must or you're rolling the dice as to whether you'll be able to eat here once you make the trip. We rushed to a nearby greasy spoon to eat quickly in order to make our house tour. We got back to Polymath Park forty minutes later for our scheduled house tour to see people eating, being served and still plenty of empty tables. We had given ourselves an extra hour to eat at Tree Tops prior to our scheduled house tours. We had to use that time to eat elsewhere, sadly. They said they would have served us if we'd had reservations, but refused to do so if we did not. Odd when the restaurant was nearly empty. This made our visit to Polymath Park and the Duncan House considerably less pleasant. Really unfortunate and completely unnecessary. read more

If you're going to splurge, this is a great location among the mountains of Laurel Highlands. The patio united me with nature and I could hear the wood peckers near by. Everything was tasteful and my steak was delicious. It came with a scoop of risotto and snap peas. Portion was small as I was able to finish the whole think. I would have enjoyed a bit more risotto. Service by Linda was excellent. Only music could have made this experience better - non obnoxious and low volume. As a DJ, I always think about the right music. New age with some sounds of waterfalls would only enhance the nature experience! read more

Open for lunch, and oh what a lunch! My wife had the beet and goat cheese salad served on a plank. I had the trout in a nice "burnt" butter, lemon, arugula, and fruit chutney. It came with asparagus with a hint of smoke, and a crispy risotto with sun-dried tomatoes, cheese and cream. It was excellent! We split a sour cream cheesecake with a glaze of strawberries and blueberries. Fantastic ! In the future, I will make sure I make reservations! read more

I'm sorry to report that this place was an absolute bust. The atmosphere and view were ok at best. The server was very friendly, but the service was extremely slow. We spent 2 hours there from start to finish. The food was awful. The seafood was cooked in burned butter and very chewy. My wife described the taste of the steak filet as funky and disgusting. The portions were very small, cold when they arrived, and not prepared as described on the menu. The coffee was even cold. We left dinner for 2, $150 lighter and hungry. read more

I had to do a lot of soul searching before writing this review. I happened to enjoy Tree Tops at one time, so much so that I brought my sister there in July. She had just drove in from a two day drive from the state of Kansas, and I was so excited to share this place which I considered a gem. The food isn't all that, but the vibe is what I LIKED past tense best. I hadn't seen my sister since our Mother passed in November of 2019, and it was my birthday and we were so happy to be together again. We spent the day enjoying the beautiful weather by the pool at home and we were capping off the day with dinner at Tree Tops. We ordered apps and dinner, we all proceeded to have adult beverages, and after ordering my second drink, in front of a crowded restaurant I was asked and not with any manners at all if I were driving, because they could not serve me anymore drinks. I am a 54 year old Mother of two grown children and I was mortified with their approach. It was embarrassing to say the very least... I might add, I bartended for ten years and could not believe the manner in which I was treated. I cannot recommend Tree Tops any longer as I once have, because to be quite honest, they turned my wonderful homecoming with my sister into a complete embarrassing disaster. I paid WAY TOO MUCH money to be humiliated !! If you have a special occasion, this IS NOT the place to go, unless you want to have your evening ruined, because you just might be having a little too much fun. Shame on Tree Tops, I guess you just cannot cultivate class. SAD SAD SAD !!!!!! You need to train your server and manager in manners and couth because they had neither !!! read more

I have been here 2x and plan to return many more, I absolutely love this restaurant so much! The food, atmosphere, and service are incredible. This is a great day trip out of PGH for a nice drive and incredible meal with beautiful views. Whenever someone comes in town to visit from my home state In southwest this Is on the list. The scallops & carpaccio appetizers are a must, i had incredible steak salad, + the pour over coffee with all the appetizers are a must as well!! I also have to say our server Alicia, was so pleasant and truly attentive & anticipated our needs, same goes for my first experience here with the server who has bangs and dark hair (sorry I have a terrible memory lol). They must do some really thorough training but not so much that it feels not genuine or scripted. This is truly my fave restaurant in all of PA so far. Plus they have great music playing. Anyways go here. It's sooooooo delicious read more

There is much to recommend this restaurant, which is associated with Polymath Park - a privately owned assemblage of Frank Lloyd Wright houses.. The outdoor setting quite literally among the treetops -- magical at night and surprisingly bug-free. A very pleasant and welcoming and professional wait staff. Above all, that this place may be the single restaurant open for lunch and dinner on Mondays and Tuesdays within a 20-mile radius of Donegal - despite a number of tourist attractions. However, the wine list is severely limited for a restaurant that aspires to "fine dining." (They do allow customers to bring their own wone, as we did, for a modest corkage fee.) The major fault is that the relatively small menu is an example of ambition outstripping ability to accomplish. For example, the beef carpaccio was nothing like classic dish, being composed of chunks of seared meat atop chunks of bread with parmesan shavings and truffle oil (ugh!). Caesar salad was enormous romaine leaves, grilled, and served with more parmesan shavings but the bland anchovy-less dressing underneath (?) and no croutons. Alongside a seafood and a chicken entrée, filet is offered four ways with some silly sauce options. We opted for "mushroom risotto" as an accompaniment and received plain unadorned long-grain white rice. Nothing we had was in anyway inedible or unpleasant - just disappointing. This place has so much going for it (lack of competition being most notable) if only it would abandon pretensions it cannot live up to and just serve good honest food within the capabilities of the kitchen. read more

We had dinner as part of our tour of place. It was a fixed menu with choice of three entrees. The food was very good Individually prepared despite the fact that we had been on a tour. They have a full bar so you can order a cocktail if you want more than wine provide. As good as the food is better is the service. The staff was helpful. Attentive and very accommodating. I recommend even if you aren't going on the tour. Better yet because you can order off full menu. read more

The setting was a complete let down, most descriptions promote this as a unique experience of dining in the tree tops. It feels like a house sitting in the woods, absolutely lackluster. The service was amazing but the food, subpar. If you're looking for a unique experience and great food, I'd recommend somewhere else. read more

This was such a refreshing restaurant. The ambiance was amazing from the second we walked in. They had a gentleman playing guitar for the intimate indoor space when we arrived, which perfectly set the mood for this charming dining experience. I had the espresso filet, mushroom risotto and mixed vegetables, while my Significant Other had the prosciutto chicken. Both dishes were to die for. The cocktails were strong, which was appreciated. It did take quite a while to get our appetizer and drinks, but with such a small restaurant, that's to be expected. I would highly recommend this place for a nice evening out. read more

Wow. What a find. Can't believe this GEM of a place has been around for years and I'm just now learning about it! It was the perfect location for the most perfect night. We chose to sit on the deck which made you feel like you were nestled in nature- it was beautiful. The food was fantastic. I had the filet and it was prepared perfectly- no steak knife needed :) make sure you save room for the Lemon cake... DELICIOUS. The service was wonderful. You can tell that it is a family owned and operated establishment. They go above and beyond to make your experience enjoyable. I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. I surely wasn't :) read more

I was so sad with my experience here. I made reservations 2 months in advance for my birthday for a "treehouse" experience as depicted in a newspaper article. We drove over an hour to get there all to be seated in the corner of the restaurant not anywhere near a window. When I asked if we could sit near a window, we were told other reservations specifically requested the table next to a window and that they were totally booked outside. We sat there for 2 hours watching no one fill the table we requested (they told us that reservation never showed up) and saw empty seats outside. We literally had the worst seats in the restaurant and stared at close to 30 open seats that would have been better. I would have hoped that they could have worked with us a little and tried to find a better location to dine. The staff and owner were very friendly and the food was delicious, but the entire point of going was for the ambiance and being in nature while dining which was severely lacking read more

What a lovely evening. We stayed at FLW-designed Duncan House just down the road (you could walk it, but take a flashlight). Our server, Linda, was delightful. She made sure that all the dishes that we ordered met my dietary restrictions. The bread was fantastic, made better by the flower pot serving dish. Wine was very reasonably priced. The menu is large enough to accommodate a variety of tastes, but not so large that you are left wondering what the house specialties are. The view is wonderful, as one would expect. The seats are quite comfortable. Ambience is just fancy enough for a night out, but not stuffy. Highly recommended. read more

Decent atmosphere inside but nothing special. We sat on the deck with a beautiful view of the Laurel Highlands. Much better. I'll update my stars once we've eaten our food. We had it packed up because we waited for an hour to have it served. The humus appetizer was delicious though. For the price, I'd expect better service. read more

One of my favorite restaurants! Tree tops is a word of mouth... No advertisement restaurant.... They are one of the best restaurants in Westmoreland county.... I've had their flaming steak in a hot pan and it was fantastic! Risotto was so so good... Lots of cheese in it. Broccoli had a great Smokey flavor to it... Everything had so much flavor! Really enjoyed it! The restaurant itself is very creative as well.... Has an Asian feel to it.... Big windows so you have the feeling like you're eating outside.... Fireplace.... Small and quaint.I would highly recommend checking this place out.... Will definitely be back again! read more

We were in town (Thursday, June 11th, 7:30 ish) on an overnight trip to Fallingwater and as soon as we found this place online we decided that we had to head on over for a meal. Though we made a reservation through Open Table, the restaurant had no record us; however, they were happy to seat us anyway. This place was very cozy, but we were the only patrons in the inside dining room. The outdoor dining space was full of people, but it was right around dusk we didn't want to be bombarded bugs (no outside seemed to be complaining about this, but we're bug-phobic city people!). We ended up at a table along the window. I did not care for the chairs (though my friends thought they were comfortable) and opted for the window seat. It was comfortable but pretty tall and my legs dangled quite a bit and I was ready to have my feet back on the floor by the end. There was only one server working all of tables, but she was very friendly and worked tirelessly to keep everyone happy! I was there with two friends. I got the crab cakes, one friend got the filet with Gorgonzola and the other friend got a shrimp and scallop dish. We all shared our plates with one another. Additionally, we had the charcuterie and the goat cheese crostini apps. Everything was good, but by and large our favorite was the Filet. It was fork tender, juicy and delicious. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Goat Cheese crostini. It was very simple, but insanely delicious. I wanted to like the balsamic reduction off the plate, and almost did (haha). We all really loved the risotto. It was questionable whether or not we would all have room for dessert; however we decided to get one piece of the lemon cake and did not regret it. The whole experience was a delight and the surroundings were gorgeous. If I am ever back in the area I will definitely make a return visit. read more

Wonderful Service, Food and Wine. We are traveling through the area and decided to eat here after touring Polymath Park. We ate on the deck in a lovely wooded setting. We started off with the flaming greek cheese (back in Chicago we call it saginaki) fantastic accompanied with pita and perfectly grilled tomatoes and zuccini. My husband and I both had the filet oscar and our son had the surf and turf. All steaks were cooked to perfection, two medium rare and one rare. For dessert we shared a slice of lemon cake, light and tasty. Wonderful wine menu. Tree Tops is a hidden gem, take the time to find it! read more

Exceptional food. Everything was great from the appetizers to the dessert, including the drinks. Appetizer: I highly recommend the Kasseri Cheese ... served flaming with a side of zucchini/veggies. Outstanding. Entree: we had chef's specials seafood and medallions and seafood (crab, scallops, shrimp) again ... outstanding! Tremendous! Dessert: cheesecake and coffee. Both very good. It is really nice to have a place where you know the meal is going to be great... it is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. read more

ate there a couple weeks ago and sorry to say we were disappointed in the selections of food and the portion and the attitude of the hostess We got a table outside You didn't have any heaters on it It was freezing came inside and it was like we felt like we were bothering you and to get three little fingerling potatoes and a little piece of meat such a disappointment It's in a very beautiful secluded area but you need to change your chef ‍. After I inbox this restaurant and told them about my experience they blocked and deleted me so for anyone that wants to go here it's a very nice atmosphere but there's very little selection of food the hostess is the daughter of the chef she's very rude and there's not a whole lot of selection and very little portions they won't call me they won't ask me what happened they just block me very unprofessional ‼ read more
