Thursday night and again we had to have the lobster special. Not one but two lobster tails with two sides for $44. Tonight we had onion rings as an appetizer because we know they're always delicious. The lobster was especially good that night. My husband thought was even better than The Nest. Our waitress was new but she did a great job. I got my dirty martini exactly as I wanted it, thanks to Stacie at the bar. It was kind of quiet in there, surprisingly, because we had 6 pm reservations and thought it would have been busier. We love this place. We usually just sit at the bar and order dinner. The food is excellent and the service is amazing. I love the chicken sandwich, the fries and my favorite--their seasonal desserts! We arrived at 8:30. The website says they are open and serving until 10pm. When we got there, there were plenty of open tables but the hostess said they couldn't accommodate us as "the server that would serve you is closing up and doesn't want to stay for another table." We said we would be quick as we had been traveling a long way, but that didn't matter. This was on a Friday evening. We were coming from out of town and very disappointed that we were treated so badly. We will not go back and try it as this is no way to treat guests. read more

I have to say we were pleasantly surprised on our dinner experience. From the outside you would never expect the warm and inviting interior. Felt like a nice streak house vibe. I have to commend the staff - food & service were incredible- even with having problems with their POS that day. They never skipped a beat!! Other reviews were raving so we tried it. It's a weird place, reminds me of a night club with vinyl booths that serves food. The menu was limited compared to what I saw online as options. That was a disappointment. When we walked in most had reservations, there was an hour and a half wait, so we were leaving but they found us a table for 3, requiring a reservation amazed up. We have been a few times; however it has been awhile. I got the prime rib feature (Friday) and it was huge 18 oz cut prepared perfectly to order. The child Mac and cheese portion was shocking.. in a good way. I even tasted. The atmosphere of the restaurant is so relaxing with dim lighting and lit candles welcomed us from the door. The reason for my review was the service though. He greeted us immediately and never missed a step through presentation. With a hyper 8 year old and 1 in a high chair.. he recognized our needs to have plates promptly cleared, as well as boxes and our check. Food was very good the salad was made with leaf lettuce and not head lettuce and was put together nicely. Several homemade dressings to offer as well as steaming bread brought out with soft butter not cold hard butter like most serve. They were really busy but our wait time was very short. Our dinner was brought out within 20 minutes of sitting down which gave us plenty of time to finish the salad and they brought more bread and butter. With a smile I might add. Our raspberry tea glass was refilled quickly we didn't have to ask. Seriously we had the best customer service here and we will return. We are always driving past this place with its incredibly packed parking lot, and I kept thinking, well, there's no chance to get a table there. But one night I thought of it early enough to call for a reservation. We actually shared the dining room with very few people--the cars out front seemed to belong to bar patrons (the bar was packed) or bowlers using the bowling alley in the rear. So we began with quick seating and an attentive server. The wine choices were good, and I think we had an appetizer, which I cannot now recall. (Back to in-person teaching and play rehearsals, some things fade in the mists of time.) We chose the prime rib dinners, and that made a great meal for us, as well as leftovers to take home. Everything was delicious, including the desserts. A friend who has lived a long time in Latrobe said you can't go wrong with anything here, and we look forward to going back and proving that true! read more

If I could give a negative review, I would! There's no excuse for just plain and simple BAD service! When it takes a half hour to get your apps , 50 minutes to get your salads, and an hour for your entrees, it's just bad. And the food wasn't worth the wait! 4 members of wait staff that should have been more than needed to cover the room. Just bad! Just another note, crab cakes should taste like crab! Tried this place on three separate business visits to the Latrobe area and all were bad. Food was over cooked and lacked flavor. Very click like atmosphere, everyone is local and everyone knows everyone and everyone else is tolerated but more of an annoyance than a customer. No windows in dinning room makes it feel boxy. Bar very clicky with all long time customers. View from bar is an attached bowling alley via multiple large one way windows, that should tell you all you need to know! I really was not sure what to make of this place when we first went here. The building kind've looks like a bar and it's always packed. Of course the yelp reviews for this place our fantastic so we had to check it out. When I walked in I was a little surprised about how nice it looked but I was still worried that it might be a Lamplighter situation(kudos to you if you get that). The service was friendly and quickly got my parents and I sat down in a booth. The place is heavy on the seafood and italian options and has a really big men. I got the southwest soup and the crab pasta. My mom got the blue cheese strip steak and french onion soup. I'm not sure what my dad got but he definitely liked it. The southwest soup was good, and a bit of a spiciness to it and I remember the chicken and corn being good additions. But the pasta in particular was really good. The crab wasn't imitation at all which was a pleasant surprise. The pasta worked well with the crab and the alfredo sauce was really good but not too heavy at all, I think it might've been linguine that they used. The portions were also very generous and the only reason I could have so much was because I was really hungry. I also had a slice or two of my mom's steak and it was really good steak as well, not to chewy but still ahd a lot of flavor in it. Although I think they went a little heavy on the bleu cheese sauce. I didn't want to be is impressed with this place but I turned out to be very shocked by just how good it truly was! I had a special dinner, it was a bison steak that I purchased medium rare. Let me tell you right now that it was the best bison I've ever eaten in my life! It was fresh, perfectly cooked, and had a healthy amount of onions and mushrooms served on top of it! I truly enjoyed the Parmesan risotto as well. I think it's a nice touch to have a small veggie tray served before your meal, too. That's something you don't see every day. The bread was phenomenal, both fresh, hot, and chewy. The clam chowder was creamy, chock full of clams, the potatoes were well cooked, and the broth with savory. For dessert, I had a seven layer chocolate cake. Let me tell you now, if this is my last meal on earth, I would die satisfied! The cake was beautiful! Well done! read more

Visited my grandmother in Derry last week and we ate out most meals since we were on vacation. The meal we got at the Touchdown Club was the best food we ate all week. We started with the fried zucchini and stuffed banana peppers as an appetizer (neither of which you can find on any menu in Massachusetts) and they were both delicious. For my meal, I got the salad with grilled chicken, French fries, cheese, and the homemade Parmesan peppercorn dressing and that was great as well. Everyone else's food looked amazing too, especially the crab cakes. Definitely will be coming back next time I'm in town!! read more

Don't judge a book by its cover! We've driven past this place for awhile and thought it was just a bar. Tonight we stopped for dinner based on a few Yelp reviews. Very good! We had the crab cakes appetizer which is lump crab and very small amount of filler. DH had jumbo shrimp which really good as was the homemade cocktail sauce. Pricey. I can't get out of this place (two people) for less than $70. I usually have two beers. They have the All Saints IPA on tap, which I love. Love love love local/craft brews. The food is great and the menu seems to change a lot. I had foie gras for the first time ever here. Whether you're there for dinner or having drinks at the bar, there's always something good to chew on. Try the nachos. Wow. Only downside is lack of windows in the restaurant and bar. In the bar you can see into the bowling alley, which is actually kind of neat. Pretty laid back. One of our favorite places to go in Latrobe. read more

Like a lot of reviewers here, we were discouraged by outside appearances but actually really impressed by the food and atmosphere inside. The unfortunate font choice of the glass sign outside had me thinking this was a strip club for the longest time... If this place got a paint job to match its outside to its inside, it would get the attention it deserved. My husband got the cajun rubbed strip steak with bleu cheese sauce. My personal review from last summer during training camp is 10-star. That being said - I am writing a review for my 83 year-old mother and her best friend who is 90. NOT your typical senior citizens. They don't eat chicken ala king and pudding, these women know food. From the time they walk in the door, they treat them like royalty. I don't live near there anymore, but hear every weekend from my mother how fabulous their lunch was and it always includes "they adjusted the special just for us, and we don't even have to tell them what kind of wine we like". The hamburger used to be good here. I don't know what happened! The fries I received tonight were grease soaked and a different type of fry than you used to get. Hamburger was dry. Bacon and blue cheese are now 75 cents EACH. You would have to look really close at the menu to notice these items aren't included as free options anymore. You used to get a really good dill pickle spear. Now it's just pickle chips in a cup. Overall, more expensive and cheaper quality. My family and I won't be going back. read more
