We now feel obligated to return just to finish the rest of the "levels,". Cocktails? Delicious. Dangerous, even. The kind that make you say, "We should come back," before you've even finished them. Now the food. My husband ordered a cheesesteak that could double as a dumbbell. I got the fish sandwich, which I can only describe as "aquatic overachievement." It was so big I briefly considered naming it and splitting custody. I took one photo, mostly because my arms were too tired from lifting it. Both were delish!!! We thought this would be the same experience, and opted to give them a try since we were closer to here. Unfortunately, we were wrong. As huge fans of the other location's pizza and pasta, this did not meet expectation. The crust was about the same, albeit slightly sweeter. The sauce, though--WAY BEYOND over sweet compared to the other Jioio's, and much thinner. Again, please know--we were expecting sweeter sauce, since we love Carbon Jioio's so much. This was over and beyond.... As an app, we tried the Deluxe Garlic Bread, something we always get at the other Jioio's. This was okay, but a bit more soggy than the other place would have been--and again, that red sugar syrup sauce.... I tried the veal parmesan, and while I loved the amount of cheese they put on top, the same WAY OVER sweet, thin sauce, was used on it and the spaghetti side. It was so thin that it wouldn't even stick to the noodles. And, again, about put me in diabetic shock. The veal itself was something I would expect to get in a hospital or school lunch. A soggy, terrible ground up patty that absorbed up all that red sugar water they were trying to pull off as Joio's sauce. You can tell the restaurant has been around for a while, and has an old-school family feel. As super-fans of the Carbon Joio's, I can't ever see myself returning here. The music was so beautiful it brought actual tears to my eyes, and my 84-year-old mother was absolutely glowing. Watching her smile, tap her foot, and soak in every note was something I'll never forget. The polka? Incredible. The food? Out of this world. Every bite was rich, comforting, and full of old-school Italian flavor. ‍ The service? Flawless. And then--Chef Bill Shockley appeared like a culinary angel. Not only is his food amazing (seriously, this man is a magician with a sauce), but he came to our table, made a fuss over my mother, and treated her like royalty. She was absolutely over the moon. THAT is customer service. Thank you for employing Bill--he is truly a gem, and his personal touch made our night unforgettable. Special shoutout as well to our fantastic server and to the two young ladies who helped me make a reservation for our party of 11. They treated me like family from the very first call--kind, accommodating, and full of that signature Rizzo's hospitality.
