Food Service Ambiance EXCELLENT - love the lasagna or calzone! Often there is a wait but it is not long and WORTH IT

Rodney's is a local casual restaurant that serves lunch and dinner for dining in, takeout, and catering. Examples of menu items are appetizers (e.g., mozzarella sticks and pulled-pork nachos), salads, flatbreads, sandwiches, entrees (e.g., salmon and chicken parmesan), pastas, pizzas, calzones, strombolis, cocktails, wines, and beers. Please note that the building has different entrances/exits for the dining room, bar, and to-go. For many years, Rodney's has been one of my mother-in-law's favorite restaurants, so I have eaten foods from here at least a few times. Here are my ratings for some recent foods: Soy Glazed Salmon - 5 stars - The salmon was a good size, was cooked nicely, and had a sweet soy glaze. It was served over flavorful brussels sprouts, carrots, and potatoes. Veal parmesan - 4 stars - Veal tenderloin medallions were breaded and topped with tomato sauce and provolone cheese. I liked that the breading was not soggy. Pecan-encrusted chicken salad - 4 stars - Chicken breast was encrusted with pecan breading and served atop a house salad with pecans, tomatoes, dried cranberries, and mandarin oranges. Grilled chicken salad - 4 stars - Grilled chicken breast was baked in Cajun butter and served atop a fresh house salad with cheeses, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and fries. read more

I placed an order for 3 pizzas for a later time for pick through their website and to call them pizzas unacceptable would be an understatement. When it pertains to a their customer service I could not recommend going there due to that alone. I had placed the order to be picked up hours later and when I went to pick it up I was told they did not get it until 35 minutes prior to when it was done instead of calling or emailing me in regards to the delay. All 3 pizzas were burnt on top with the worst being the what was supposed be a white pizza and even though I understand different interpretations none that I have ever seen let alone tried included nearly burnt cheese on top. read more

We go to Rodney's on a weekly basis. Last few years this place is starting to get ridiculous on reservations and service. If you don't make a reservation for LUNCH they won't take you? If you do, you have to have the whole party there before seating? I understand this, however, why can't we sit at the table and get a drink and order an app? Also, the hostesses are beyond rude and seem so unhappy with their jobs. This is not a great representation of the first face you see when you come into an establishment. This experience makes me not want to come back even though the food is ok. The server was fine, she was working hard. Took 26 minutes to get bread and soup. The backroom is empty, hire more servers so that you can accommodate your guests. The hostesses however need a BIG attitude check. Also, please clean the bathrooms, they smell and feel dirty. Just before Christmas I went to dinner with my family at Rodney's in Irwin. We went on a Monday just after 6 pm. It was busy but we were seated right away. Our server was great! The portions here are huge and hearty! You get a lot of bang for your buck. What we ordered: -Stuffed Banana Peppers - these were HUGE and were really tasty! Definitely found a new fav appetizer -Fettucine du-Marie alfredo with jumbo tiger shrimp & scallops - I have to admit that I have not had an alfredo that is better than my homemade sauce, BUT this still hit the spot. The seafood portions were generous. -Side Caesar salad (comes with the pasta dish) - really big portion for a side salad which was nice! I liked that they added hard boiled eggs. Pretty good for a side salad. -Winter lemon drop cocktail - refreshing! Love a lemon drop -Complementary bread - yummy & loved that it was toasted -Pork chop & fried jumbo shrimp - my family's orders. I tried one of the fried shrimp and it was good! -Not pictured but my dad got the black angus strip - he ordered it rare but said it was a little overcooked. He said it was just good. He is a steak snob though. Overall this is a good spot for a solid meal if you find yourself in Irwin! read more

Handsome husband and I went here because we had a gift card. The fried zucchini and Reuben were decent but I don't really get the hype. Your typical standard American fare/ food menu selection. For two people with more eclectic palates, there was nothing too exciting on the menu to entice us to return. read more

If you find yourself in Irwin, PA and want a meal that never disappoints, Rodney's is the place to go. Every time. Let's start with the fried portobello mushrooms--they are absolutely out of this world. Perfectly crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. Honestly, they're worth the trip alone. The portions at Rodney's are no joke either. The club sandwich is huge--stacked high, fresh, and exactly what a great club should be. And the Italian sandwich? Completely packed. Every bite is bold, hearty, and overflowing with classic Italian deli flavors. The atmosphere is a charming blend of an elevated restaurant and a cozy diner--comfortable, unpretentious, and welcoming in the best way. The staff is friendly and relaxed... maybe a bit too relaxed at times, but honestly, that's part of the charm. This was our first visit to Rodney's, and we went on the recommendation of some trusted friends. It was a weekday early-evening visit, and we were able to get right in. The service was split between two waitresses, and they did a pretty good job. I really liked the atmosphere of the place, and found it very clean--even the bathroom! The food was good, with only a couple things we found issue with. For meals, we had the Chicken Marsala which was good. Wife had the Chicken Milanese, which was good, but was very dry. It was supposed to come with the lemon butter caper sauce, and the only thing there really was on it was the capers with a hint of lemon in the background. The sauce was nowhere to be found. It was good enough to try again next time, though, but we'd ask to possibly go a little heavier on the sauce. She had to ask for a cup of sauce to go on the pasta that came with it, that was also found to be very bland and dry. Once it got hit with some spaghetti sauce, though, it was good. Both of us had a French Onion soup, and it was pretty decent. Daughter had a steak hoagie, and found it to be mostly bread. Probably wouldn't get that again. Other daughter had the Firecracker Chicken sandwich, and loved it. Youngest had a small pizza to herself, and loved it. Guest with us had a Spaghetti with Meatball, and loved it *eventually*, but had to ask for more sauce as the pasta was pretty dry once it was mixed up--it definitely needed more sauce on it. Stopped by for some takeout on a road trip. I was able to order online and pick it up on time. The food quality was great, with perfectly cooked fish along with creamy mashed potatoes and veggies. Would recommend this dish. While we didn't eat there, the inside of the restaurant had many patrons and it looked clean. The parking lot is large. read more

We had a fantastic lunch today. We made a reservation for 12 and they were able to accommodate a last minute change to 15. The service was extremely fast considering our group size. We arrived around 1115 and were done eating by noon. The food was very good. The fish sandwich and pierogis were the popular choice since it was a Friday during lent. Both were delicious. I ordered a chicken salad - the grilled chicken was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The salad was a great mix of veggies and accompaniments. We had a long table in the back room, so it was quiet for our group. Great option! read more

My favorite choice is always the Ronnie's pork chop is the one I always get with the mashed potatoes and a side salad. I really liked it when you had the baked potatoes, but your mashed potatoes are actually very good but I really like that pork chop and I don't know what the seasoning is that you put on it but it is amazing and absolutely delicious and I really like the fact that Rose is so close to our home read more

Heard the lasagna was good and I was not disappointed! The portion size is generous and I was planning to take some home. Didn't happen. The sauce is flavorful, not too sweet and not too spicy. This restaurant was quite a nice surprise. We just thought it was another Italian restaurant in an area that seemed to have quite a few. When pulling in we saw the parking lot was packed & worried for a minute that we wouldn't get a table. No problem! We were seated promptly in a back room that appeared to be used mostly for large groups. Another surprise. A special Monday night pasta menu with 4 choices for only $11.95. I ordered the angel hair pasta topped with hot sausage stuffed banana peppers. So good! I'm not always a fan of tomato sauce since I prefer my husband's. This was really good. The banana pepper and hot sausage added a nice kick to the meal. I started with a bowl of French onion soup that was loaded with big pieces of onions. Only complain here was the melted cheese did not cover the top of the bowl. No room for dessert. The first time we drove to Rodney's the parking lot was so full we went home. This time, we made a reservation. We were a little early but were seated right away. The dining room is cozy but not crowded which I really liked. I had the lobster pot pie which had a tail in it! The meat was tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were a little lack luster but the pot pie was the star of the show. We also had Cajun Chicken Tortellini and French onion soup. Since it was a special occasion we made sure to save room for dessert. We had red velvet cheese cake which was good and crème brûlée which was fantastic! read more

A new favorite. We've known of Rodney's for a while but now, after learning of their gluten free selections, including some desserts, it will now become a regular staple. Everything that our family has had there has been bountiful and tasty. That includes the extensive cocktail menu and desserts. The service is also top notch. Definitely suggest the coconut shrimp and calzones. Give them a try! Definitely worth it. read more

If I could give this place and their owner 0 stars I would! Do NOT use them for wedding catering unless you want poor service, missing food, and NO accountability from a very angry and insecure owner. The catering staff did not provide the requested dietary restricted meals to my 5 guests who needed them, many people had plates served to them that were missing sides, and possibly worst of all was the fact that the catering staff never cut my wedding cake and instead left it sitting out until 10 PM, having wasted $300 worth of cake. You would think as the owner that hearing this would make you upset, but instead I got called a liar and was told that I am just looking for things to nitpick to get money back. Luckily I'm the type of person who never deletes anything and who always has documentation to back what she says, that I was able to prove I am not a liar and I was issued a slight refund for my inconvenience. After spending over $5000 for Wedding catering getting $430 back is just a drop in the bucket when the experience is this awful. If anybody is looking for catering in the Irwin/new Stanton/Greensburg area I urge you to steer clear of Rodneys. read more

My Fettuccine Du-Marie was fantastic and everyone else enjoyed their dinners as well. Can't wait to go back. read more

So the score is for the food. We all enjoyed what we had. I had a steak Stromboli and it was pretty big, I had to take half home. It was stuffed with meat and vegetables. Needed a bit more cheese however. Daughter got a meatball calzone and it was same size. I tried a bite and it was really good. Son got a grilled chicken salad, less fries. Came out in a huge bowl. Another got chicken croquettes, a senior meal of I've ever seen one. She liked them and took some home. I felt prices were decent as well. Negatives: hearing out soon to be server complaining to hostess about our group of 6 being given to her, while we were all standing by her. Also negative was the fact we waited an hour and fifteen minutes for the food to come. Drinks left unfilled too. read more

We've been to Rodney's a few times now and have to say consistently good food is the trick here. The menu has some features and changes seasonally. Servers have always been friendly, happy and helpful. Just some of the entrees we've shared is stuffed banana peppers over angel hair pasta, braised short rib, chicken parmigiana bourbon bacon pork chops and scallops. We really recommend this restaurant. In addition, for Easter we ordered the ham and kielbasa with sides and dessert. Our family loved this catered dinner and I would order more from Rodney's for future family meals. Please don't forget to save room for dessert! read more

Drove through their large parking lot for 20 minutes until we lucked into a place to park. Though we arrived a few minutes after our reservation time, we still had to wait another 15 or so minutes until a table opened up. Since we only had about an hour until we had to leave to go to a concert, we modified our order to get something that the kitchen could get out quickly. We ordered a fried zucchini app and a pecan crusted chicken salad. The app came out first and was tasty, but the very thinly sliced zucchini was a bit overwhelmed by the ample breading. The pecan crusted chicken salad was also very tasty. We especially liked the flavor of the numerous mandarin orange pieces included. Service was excellent, and as a result of our judicious ordering, and our server's attentiveness, we left the restaurant right on time. She told us it'll be a few more minutes could not specify how long this is the second time our dance party has been delayed being seated we left. She told us the table was seated for two hours where we were to be seated. Do not go there with parties of eight or more. And I was disappointed because I heard it's very good there . I wish I had read the reviews before going. Welcome to Costco restaurant complete with tacky 80's music. There is only one choice for glasses of wine, that is the house wine, otherwise order a bottle. High priced and not worth the trip. I went for lunch to give it a try before doing dinner. I was not brought a glass of water, the bread was a hoagie they obviously make there sandwiches with. It was not even cut up, and no dipping oil. Instead you received butter in small plastic cubes. I ordered the ravioli, and salad would be extra. No homemade dressings to pick from, if I did order the salad, with my meal it would have been $4.00 extra. The grated cheese was not fresh, and left on the table in a glass dispenser, diner style. The ravioli came dry, and the sauce didn't even cover them. Desert choices where all mass produced except for the "apple dumpling'. I ordered the creme brulee and it was stone cold. I have eaten at three other amazing restaurants in this area, folks in town recommended Rodney's. I have no idea why. This was one of the most sub par dinning experiences I have had in a long time. This restaurant recently told their frequent patrons they are no longer allowed to stay more than 2 hours. These are people who have been patrons of this establishment for over 30 years spending lots of money, hosted family events etc. Along with their recent decline in food quality & rise in prices, service has always been good. However, since the owner directly approached locals- who don't just sit at the bar, they order food, drinks, appetizers- a formerly great ambiance & happy atmosphere, has now become highly disappointing. This place is an excellent restaurant. The food is delicious. If you're gluten-free, they have a pizza and pasta highly recommend.

This place clearly is popular as the restaurant was packed, which leads to the initial downside... We weren't seated until 6:15 for a 6pm reservation. Under normal circumstances not the biggest deal but we had a baby in our group. Once we were seated, it was 6:50 before we received our first course and then every subsequent course came too fast so the timing was just completely out of sorts. The apps were fine as we just had some standard fried food. The side salad was pretty abysmal and was about 50% cheddar cheese and I wasn't a fan. I went with the seafood aglio olio and despite perfectly cooked and plump shrimp, the dish had no flavor. It needed a higher quality olive oil, more garlic or frankly, something else as it was wayyyy too bland. The highlight of the night was the rice pudding for dessert, but not enough to warrant a higher rating after one visit. read more

We were 6 who dined at Rodney's for our grandson's birthday this week. Our waitress Alexis was amazing. She had 7 tables seated that she was waiting on simultaneously. She was professional and very friendly and despite the rush she was at our table 5x filling glasses and making sure we were happy with the food, and the service. Food was decent in flavor but way overpriced. Everything was an additional price and when you're charging $4 dollars for a kids cup of chocolate milk that says all you need to know about the price for this place. I spent more on sodas and milk for my kids then I did on the kids meals themselves. $4 bucks for a Pepsi and my kid couldn't get a refill if they were dying on the floor asking for it. Kraft mac & cheese, soggy fries, tiny little wing dings, all overpriced and underwhelming. The only thing I would go there in order again was the pizza which actually was a pretty decent price compared to everything else. Now I know why I haven't been to this restaurant in 20 years and probably won't return for another 20. Sorry not sorry ‍ oh and they charged a 20% gratuity because we had a party of eight which we were not informed about until the bill came. I don't have a problem with paying a gratuity, but it is nice to know ahead of time. And service was mid which is typical when you're already being charged the gratuity because the servers don't typically care. read more
