My friends and my First time there. We went in and sat downstairs. There was 3 things on the menu. A chicken dinner, wings and I honestly don't remember the other item. We all got wings. The sauces were good. I usually have my wings done a little extra so they're crispy and not rubbery. I forgot to tell the server/bartender that. They were rubbery inside. I was hungry so I didn't fuss. The server/bartender was very polite and fun to talk with. It would have been nice to have more than 3 options to choose from but I guess they do more with the bar than food. I might give them another try. read more

This review is mainly for the catering side of the restaurant. Although I will say every time I've eaten at this restaurant it has been good; good food for a good price. We ordered catering for a picnic party that we had at a local park and we had a great experience. We got a variety of things ala carte because we didn't need the full service of coffee, plates, utensils, and whatever else they provide with a "plan". We got chicken which was really good, everyone loved that and kept mentioning it even a few weeks after our party. The other entree we got was the sandwich tray which was not as popular but I came with plenty of different meats and toppings, also a variety of breads such as buns, pumpernickel, white, and so on. For the sides we got a fruit salad, potatoes, and pasta salad. The pasta salad was good. The potatoes were cooked well, but whatever seasoning they used was not my favorite and a lot of people agreed, a number of people really liked them, but they weren't a crowd favorite like the chicken was. The fruit salad was just ok, it had some canned fruit in it, it was also not much of a crowd favorite. The best thing about the catering was that they delivered and set up for a very reasonable additional cost. The ordering process was easy, I just called them up about 10 days prior and told them what I wanted. They gave me an estimated time of delivery but they came at the very end of that window, that kind of put a delay in the party because people were hungry, but I can't really complain because they did come within the window of time that they provided. Overall I'm really happy with how everything turned out, I think if I order from them again I would change some of the side dishes we ordered, but if I could only change one thing I would get more chicken and less of the sandwich platter, cause the chicken was just so good. read more

This restaurant is located on Main Street of the cutest little town I think I've ever seen. I was just driving through and felt the need to stop because it looked so adorable from the outside. I ordered food to go so I can't say much for the interior of the restaurant other than there was only one table occupied in the entire place, which I thought was a little weird. The inside looked a bit outdated but it has a "family restaurant" vibe that kind of fits with it. The exterior of the building is much more inviting than the inside. As for the food, I was definitely disappointed. I ordered the special for that day, which was meatloaf. When I opened the box, it didn't look much like meatloaf at all. I tried it anyway and it tasted like cardboard. I ordered 2 sides with it-- potatoes and cole slaw, both of which were decent. Two of the apps they had as part of their daily special were zucchini strips and potato skins. The zucchini strips were soaked in grease and not crispy at all. The potato skins looked like they had been cooked an hour too long because they were so burnt. Neither tasted like good quality food one should be able to get at a restaurant. The only thing keeping me from giving this place one star is how kind and helpful the employees were. When I walked in, I was helped immediately and the girl was so nice. As I looked around, all the employees were smiling and just looked like they loved working there. It made me glad I was supporting a local business but the quality of food made me never want to return. read more

Yes yes yes! This place is such a gem in the small town of Irwin. It's a classic diner-style restaurant serving some of the best breakfast and fried chicken around. For breakfast I recommend the Belgian waffle - you won't be disappointed. The Three Pigs Skillet is also delicious - and a lot more filling than you would think. If you love diner-style coffee this place is for you. If breakfast is not your jam - I highly recommend trying the famous breasted (fried) chicken. It is hands down some of the best you'll ever have. If you're eating in the restaurant just be aware that it takes about 25 minutes to make - but it's well worth the wait. I recommend pairing the chicken with their homemade black and gold sauce. This review is based on the nightlife and events held at the Colonial Grill and Taproom. I love visiting small town neighborhood bars. I love it even more when the bar is located in the very small town I grew up in. I don't frequent it that often, but when I do, it sure feels like a mini-class reunion. Always good to catch up with those you have known for more years than one cares to count. My recent trip to the Taproom is one I hope to repeat over and over. Thursday is Blues Night. I had no idea what to expect, but the music and musicians were so vibrant, and engaging. It was almost impossible not to be drawn into the soul reaching energy they were expressing and exposing so powerfully. The smooth connections these musicians have with one another is so beautifully displayed and performed. If you love the blues, and appreciate fine talent, then clear your calendar for Thursday nights at the Taproom. I know I certainly plan to do so. Well we went to try there taproom on a Saturday while out Xmas shopping. Um the taproom isn't open on weekends , they close at 2:00. So only Mon - Fri found that odd. We didn't stay so I really can't review the place. Probably won't go back. read more

New to the area and came In for the first time. We like to support locally owned business, but we Will never come again! The inside is antiquated but not a factor. The food was good at best. The service horibble! Our waitress, Nikki took 10 min getting to our table to take drink orders. I tried to order a meatloaf sandwhich which says comes cold unless otherwise specified. So I told her I wanted it warm. She kept insisting I order the meatloaf under the hot sandwhich section that comes with a potato, which I didn't want. I told her I would just order some different and let the others go first while I looked over the menu. I have to say this is the first time a waitress has argued with me! Not impressed. After ordering, she did not come back to our table except to deliver the food. No drink refills, didn't check on us and left our bill a couple of bites into our meal. On the bill we were charged for an extra meal that we didn't order. For mediocre food the service should have at least been exceptional. read more

One of the best places to get breakfast in the area. But DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU NEED TO MODIFY YOUR FOOD. You would think a restaurant with an elderly customer base would be more understanding but they were not. This was our go to spot for food, coming usually 1 time a week. My boyfriend orders a vegetarian skillet without peppers or cheese, add an egg every time we came. It started becoming an issue when the cook started recognizing my boyfriend and regularly shooting dirty looks at our table. Today we were seated in a timely fashion, maybe 5 mins (as we have waited up to 30 min to get a table no problem). Once we sat down we were handed breakfast&lunch menus. When we started ordering the waitress pointed out that we would have to wait for the modified skillet to which we replied that was no problem (meaning the staff saw us come in and were talking about us before we were even seated). My boyfriend proceeded to apologize and explain himself, that it was due to dietary restrictions to which the waitress replied that they have skillets prepped and because of him ordering with modifications they couldn't use the already prepped skillet so if he would like to add more modifications that he already made it a hard order. (We have been here so many times that I can't count and this was never mentioned before.) We get our food, eat, amazing as usual. It seemed that we were coming in at the end of a rush. At the end of the meal my boyfriend went up to the counter to pay and asked if he could talk to a manager. He was told that she wouldn't come off of the line to speak with him. When he proceeded to tell the lady at the register that due to this negative experience that we wouldn't be back he was told that she would go get the manager. To which he responded that he was not interested, proceeded to tip. EVEN THOUGH I Said NOT TO, just saying, and left. I'm extremely disappointed in the toxic experience I had here today. I don't like the idea of staff gossiping about a paying customer before we even got seated. I think it's even more disrespectful that you would treat a 'regular' this way. If this was such an issue why was that not stated to us a LONG time ago. We have been going here since last fall. I've recommended this place to almost everyone I know even people from Pittsburgh and Mount Pleasant (30min+ drive) that's how much I liked the food. This situation was the last thing we wanted because the whole family could eat here for an affordable price. When I say I'll never go back I mean that. We ate here for the first time before attending a show at the Lamp Theater. The server so friendly! She got us a table right away, asked if we were there for the show & then promptly took our orders. We were waiting for another guest so she waited to put our orders in until the other guest arrived. The beer was cold & refilled promptly. They make homemade pies there & she even let my husband "reserve" a piece of pie ahead of time so they didn't run out of the kind he wanted. My husband had the meatloaf special & I had a burger. Both of ours meals were very good & you can't argue about their great prices. Specials were $9.99. Definitely worth stopping for dinner before hitting a show at the Lamp. Good little place to grab breakfast. Like their breakfast bowls, omelets, blt's and the buffet offers a large variety for about $12 I've only had lunch here once but prefer them for breakfast. If you enjoy plain hash-browns (no onion, green peppers or spice) this is the place to order them, they come plain. I love watching them cook on the flattop in front of me, they almost make it look like an art form. If you are looking for a little quiet, I'd try the back bar area, which is very nice by the way. read more

The menu is pretty big for breakfast, with a lot of different options. I ordered the "Bank Tellers Omelet," with ham, mushrooms, and cheese (feta), and their homemade Italian toast, while my wife ordered poached eggs with raisin toast. We both also got a side of fruit. The eggs were OK on both ends (the poached were a little buttery for some reason, and the omelet could have used more cheese). The biggest disappointment for us was the toast. The homemade Italian was really just white bread with the consistency of cardboard. I have a hard time believing it was actually homemade. The positives were that the coffee was very good, and the waitress even brought us our own carafe. She also brought us a side of sliced strawberries, as my wife didn't really like the mixed fruit. We likely wouldn't go out of our way to visit Colonial Grille again. Not that the food was bad, it just didn't offer what we like most (good bread and good fruit). read more

This is a review of my take-out experience. My mother ordered chicken from here yesterday to go and it was very last minute. They were able to accommodate our order and have it ready in 30 mins even though they were closing in less than an hour.
