So I need to say right off the bat, three stars is an average score. I'd give them a 5 for food and 1 for service. Ambiance is rustic country if that's your thing. We spent 2 hours here, with only 15 minutes of that actually eating our food. They were not that busy for a Friday night dinner hour. Two other tables were there when we walked in. Four more came in after us. Not a rush by any stretch of your imagination. Yet we waited to be acknowledged and never actually got a menu. Fortunately we had known going in what we wanted. Three of us ordered the exact same thing. Beer battered fish sandwiches with two pierogis as a side. One jalapeño cheese the other potato cheese. The fourth person ordered wings and the same pierogis as a side. We probably waited a good 30 minutes for the food after ordering. First out were the wings and fish sandwiches. We had asked for tartar sauce and cocktail sauce when we ordered. There was none. Just a bare piece of fish on a bun. They said the pierogis would be right out. When they came there were only 3 of the 4 sides we ordered and we had no silverware to eat them with. So we couldn't eat the sandwiches which were getting cold or the pierogis. I got up and asked the waitress for silverware and she brought 2 forks. There were 4 of us! I found out that I actually had two of the same, potato cheese pierogis. I had ordered one potato cheese and one jalapeño cheese. I guess they ran out of pierogis. Since they were out of pierogis, Mac and cheese was substituted. Then I got up again and got two more forks and 4 knives from the wait station myself. Finally the condiments came and we could eat the sandwiches. All in all the food was delicious. Some of the best wings around and the fish sandwiches were really good on a nice soft, warm bun. The homemade pierogis were worth the wait. Jumbo sized filled with cheese and served with nicely caramelized onions. Fifteen more minutes went by after finishing our meal before we were asked if we needed anything else. Just the check and we decided it was best to pay in cash or else wait 20 more minutes to use a credit card. If you go, be prepared to WAIT for everything! read more

Decent little pizza joint in Western PA... Stopped in after checking out the local Christmas lights display at a nearby fairground. We called ahead to check if it would be okay to show up as late as we were and thankfully, they were cool with. So off we went. Unassuming from the outside and even more so on the inside, the place has a mom-and-pop / greasy spoon charm that I am attracted too. There's a main dining area adjacent to a small barroom that unfortunately lets cigarette smoke from the barroom filter in. Fortunately the one smoker didn't stay long. They have a surprisingly extensive menu of American fare favorites along with some untraditional but welcomed choices. The selections this evening varied fresh m a pizza roll, to steak salad, to massive Strombolis. All of it cooked fresh and/or hot as the plate dictated. Service was friendly, patient, and relatively attentive - given she was the only waitress in the place at this point in time of the night. I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars, but erred on the lower rating due to the cigarette smoke detracting from what was an otherwise pleasant surprise on a very cold, Western PA evening. read more

Last week while driving home from a rural park in Mount Pleasant we passed by this place. Immediately I had a rush of memories of visiting this dive bar/restaurant while attending college in Latrobe. We were planning a return trip to the area the following week as we decided to adopt a rescue dog and were visiting a shelter nearby. As we drove by I told my husband I used to go there all the time when I was in my early twenties. I also exclaimed they have the best pizza! Now this got his attention. Not just because my husband is a pizza junkie but because he knows how picky I am with pizza, almost never eating it because I don't care for it. So right then we made the decision to stop in the following week after visiting the shelter. Upon arriving one week later and as planned the place was pretty dead at 4pm. I only saw maybe 2 or three cars in the lot. I hurried to check that they were indeed opened. Now a lot has changed since I was last here. They are still a dive, but they have now separate bar and dining areas. Our plan was to order a pizza to go (take to a local brewery) so we opted to stay downstairs in the bar area and have a drink while we waited for our pie to be made. Now they separate these areas because PA bars went nonsmoking long ago. So to keep the boozing smokers happy they separated the areas. Before it used to all be on one floor, smoking and all. When we entered the bar it was very dark, very divey. I don't mind divey at all. There was only one other patron in there. I was actually pleased with that as I didn't really want to sit in a stuffy room full of smokers. The patron was engaging offering us mints from his individually wrapped bag of mints. Why was he carrying a bag of mints around? "Cause that's how the cops git ya, from yur breath." HA! Ok we politely declined. The bartender was also very nice. Don't expect a lot of options when it comes to beer. You got your main ones, Bud, Miller, Coors. Sprinkle a few others in there. No draft beer either. No problem we came for the pie. We waited for our pizza, finished up our beers and headed out to the brewery. SO the pie. Just as wonderful as I remembered it! It actually got a little cold between the time we left and ate it so it was probably way better warmer but it was absolutely phenomenal. The sauce is what makes it. It has a zing to it that I can't quite explain. Now that this place has crept back into my radar I think we will be making return trips even if it is an hour away. It's worth the drive. read more

My wife doesn't like pizza too much so if she recommends a pizza place and mentions we should go there that has to mean something! It did! We drove past this place on the way to somewhere else and my wife remembered in her college days that they had some really good pie. So we said we would come back one day. A week later we found ourselves in the same area again and we decided to stop by and see if they still had that same great pizza. We walk in and it's a dive bar. No big deal we have been to many dive bars but do they have good pie? We walked into the bar area and there was a customer who is sitting at the bar by himself who greets us. Then the lady bartender comes in to say hi too. She was really nice. We got a couple beers and told her we wanted to order a pizza to go. We planned on taking this pizza to a brewery to enjoy it. Nothing against this place but we didn't really want to stay too long. The first time I order a pizza from somewhere I usually just want cheese and pepperoni. Once they pass my test I adventure to other toppings. So we ordered a 8 cut pizza and my wife got Mushrooms (yuck) and jalapenos on her side. The gentleman at the bar was polite and offered us dinner mints because he said the cops wont arrest you for a DUI around here if you have good breath. I said thanks but no thanks LoL! Our pizza came out and settled up our check and we left. Again the lady was nice and as long as this pizza was good we would come back and do the same thing. We headed to the brewery to eat the pizza. It smelled really good. We did get sidetrack because there was a Big Lots on the way and we stopped for some supplies. Finally when we sat down at the brewery and opened up the pie it was a little cool but still warm enough to enjoy. My wife is right about a lot of things and she was really right on this pizza. It was really good. This is one of the best sauces on a pizza that I've tasted and the crust was sturdy and held up the pie very well. I wasn't expecting too much from this place but I was impressed. Carrie said this is how it was when she was in college and it's this sauce that is very good. Who knew that such a good pie could come out of a dive bar like that. So our plan is to go back here sometime in the future order a few beers while our pizza is baking and then head to a brewery to eat our pizza. Done and Done! read more

Best restaurant in Marguerite! I thoroughly enjoy the banter with Anita, who shows her humor and hospitality every single time we are there. I really enjoy their wings, the whole wing, and the various sauces which accompany them. The garden salads are fresh...so fresh you would think they were direct from the garden! The pizza is tasty and not too thick or sweet. I love the specials! They are huge and delicious, and diversely planned with such delicacies as seafood gumbo and pork and sauerkraut. The food is really good. The owner bartends and doesn't have a clue. The waitress also was noticeably upset. He spends more time bullshitting to the customers. She said "this always happens" Passing by your empty glass. He actually wiped the bar around our glasses. But the food is good. Just a real bad time. He needs to hire a bartender and sit on the other side of the bar. This has happened every time he has waited on us. But the food is great! If your coming to eat come before his shift at 6. We really like this place. We eat in upstairs dining room as main floor is 'smoking section'. Have not ventured past the pizza, the fries, and the wings, but have loved them all...especially the wings..great deal on Tuesday and Thursday...u gotta try one or more of their many varieties. Service has always been very strong. Loses one star due to lack of any ambiance in upstairs dining room (not even a 'good dive' vibe...although my wife likes it as it is clean and good family atmosphere)....and a strange set up with their bathroom...men and women share one bathroom at the same time...u may want to accompany your child. read more

I live right up the street from Mondays, was a weekly customer until the new management took over. I understand that they want it more "family-friendly" but some of us like to go out, have a few drinks with a good dinner without 8973 kids running throughout the bar. I believe since Pete left, it has gone downhill. Order there weekly and it's not up to what it used to be. This is my 'go to' place when I'm in a wings pizza beer mood. The service is friendly and the staff makes you feel right at home. It reminds me of that little family owned bar/restaurant down the street in any neighborhood. We usually have a group of 10 or 12 people that go here regularly, and always enjoy it. The wings are fabulous...not those little wing dings, but large whole wings. The chippers are always fresh and crisp, and their baked Italian subs are great! It's at the top of my list for this type of restaurant...when you're in the mood for a place that isn't 'fancy' and serves good food. read more
