Last week while driving home from a rural park in Mount Pleasant we passed by this place. Immediately I had a rush of memories of visiting this dive bar/restaurant while attending college in Latrobe. We were planning a return trip to the area the following week as we decided to adopt a rescue dog and were visiting a shelter nearby. As we drove by I told my husband I used to go there all the time when I was in my early twenties. I also exclaimed they have the best pizza! Now this got his attention. Not just because my husband is a pizza junkie but because he knows how picky I am with pizza, almost never eating it because I don't care for it. So right then we made the decision to stop in the following week after visiting the shelter. Upon arriving one week later and as planned the place was pretty dead at 4pm. I only saw maybe 2 or three cars in the lot. I hurried to check that they were indeed opened. Now a lot has changed since I was last here. They are still a dive, but they have now separate bar and dining areas. Our plan was to order a pizza to go (take to a local brewery) so we opted to stay downstairs in the bar area and have a drink while we waited for our pie to be made. Now they separate these areas because PA bars went nonsmoking long ago. So to keep the boozing smokers happy they separated the areas. Before it used to all be on one floor, smoking and all. When we entered the bar it was very dark, very divey. I don't mind divey at all. There was only one other patron in there. I was actually pleased with that as I didn't really want to sit in a stuffy room full of smokers. The patron was engaging offering us mints from his individually wrapped bag of mints. Why was he carrying a bag of mints around? "Cause that's how the cops git ya, from yur breath." HA! Ok we politely declined. The bartender was also very nice. Don't expect a lot of options when it comes to beer. You got your main ones, Bud, Miller, Coors. Sprinkle a few others in there. No draft beer either. No problem we came for the pie. We waited for our pizza, finished up our beers and headed out to the brewery. SO the pie. Just as wonderful as I remembered it! It actually got a little cold between the time we left and ate it so it was probably way better warmer but it was absolutely phenomenal. The sauce is what makes it. It has a zing to it that I can't quite explain. Now that this place has crept back into my radar I think we will be making return trips even if it is an hour away. It's worth the drive.

Our drinks never sat empty and our dirty dishes were promptly cleared. I ordered 10 traditional wings with ranch and carrots. I picked 5 mild and 5 garlic parmesan. Honestly, this garlic parmesan was probably the best I've ever had. They put garlic butter on the wings and then sprinkle parmesan cheese over them. This is so different than most parmesan garlic sauces and I was very happy with it. The pricing seemed fair for a small town as well. You also get a basket of popcorn as soon as you sit down which was perfect to snack on. Overall, nothing special but I felt the wings were great.

We also had the white pizza and buffalo quesadilla with the sweet hot sauce. Both were very good. When we walked in, it was clearly a sports bar and they give you popcorn when you are seated. Plenty of televisions to watch whatever sporting event may be happening at the time. There were plenty of tables in the dining area and what appeared to be a whole other seating area at the bar and behind to main seating area. Overall, a pleasant experience.

I stood at the server section for five minutes before a girl who was sitting down on her phone and had been watching me stand there came over and said oh did you need help? I told her I was there for takeout and she said you can go to the bar. The bartender was on the phone with a customer when I went to pick up my order. I have nothing positive at all to say about the customer service. The peel and eat shrimp were good but there was way too much old bay, and this is coming from someone who loves old bay. Each shrimp was entirely coated in a thick layer of it. I also did not get a side of cocktail sauce. The tuna melt was not good, I only ate a few bites of it. I'm not sure if it was supposed to come with anything, but I didn't get chips or fries or anything with the melt.

The food was typical bar type food, but the menu offers a good mix of everything. Nothing really stood out, but the chicken quesadilla was probably the favorite from the group. They offer "skinny" or "fat" fries. I preferred the "fat" fries which remind me of a beer-battered steak fry. The skinny fries were a little hard for my liking. The wings were good and they have plenty of sauce options. The restaurant feels a little old inside, but it's a sports bar with several televisions and some arcade machines for entertainment. They also bring popcorn out to the table when you arrive. If bar food is your thing, I am sure Dino's will deliver.
