Mohan's has been around since '63, over 60 years. It's been a staple of the community for decades. They are well known for their Universal Fried Chicken. It is one of the best I've ever had. Delicious! KFC has nothing on Mohan's fried chicken. Their catering menu is delicious and fair prices. The menu includes chicken, pasta, 3 ft hoagies, roast beef, pulled pork, Chicken Parm, Marsala, & Romano, Hickory Smoked Ribs, Baked Cod and more including all the trimmings to complete your catered event. The restaurant is clean, casual, and comfortable. Nice size bar with 16 drafts on tap and a full bar with a nice wine selection. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It's been at least 20 years (maybe closer to 25) since I last ate at Mohan's. My youngest son and I were relatively close on a Sunday afternoon and decided to stop for a late lunch/early dinner. Mohan's is in a small strip mall and it's a large restaurant with a bar. I actually had the chicken for my high school graduation party back in the day. So my youngest son and I arrived and were promptly seated in an area between the bar and dining room. Our waitress came over pretty quickly and took our order. I had the chicken dinner which comes with two sides (I did mashed potatoes and corn). My youngest son had the chicken planks with fries. Food came pretty quickly. Fried chicken was excellent. Very juicy and not overly greasy. Side order portions were very fair. My son enjoyed his chicken planks. There is a little of everything on the menu. It is definitely worth stopping in if you're nearby. I don't think I'll wait 20+ years again, especially if I'm in the mood for fried chicken. read more

Went in with my 2 daughters on a Wednesday evening. Ordered a salad, a burger and 3 chicken wings. No wait when we came in. Waited almost an hour for our food. Tables all around us got seated after us, got their food and left, while we still waited for our food. When I asked our server how much longer, after already waiting 50+ minutes, her response was "well its going to be awhile. There's 2-16 tops". There was 1-16 and a few other tables. My fiancé is obsessed with Dance Moms and insisted on dining at Mohan's in Penn Hills. The business is huge, with a bar and multiple dining rooms. The menu is large, with diner-like options, plenty of appetizers and a focus on fried chicken. I had a club sandwich and it was solid without being spectacular. It could've used some mayo, but everything was fresh and the portion was generous for a reasonable price. My fiancé's fried chicken was okay too. This place is a classic in Pennsylvania Hills. Most people know it as the "Dance Moms restaurant," but Mohan's has been well-regarded since way before Dance Moms. I tried their (homemade?) carrot cake, the liver (without onions), potato wedges with cheese and bacon, and their complimentary bread roll. I haven't had liver in a very long time. So, when I saw it on the menu, I knew I had to give it a try. I tried the light portion which comes with one side. They asked what temperature, and I went with medium. It was a tad overdone in my opinion. Flavor was still good, and it is a little tough, but not excessively so. The potato wedges were decent. However, I expected them to be crispier. They were also like boiled potatoes with some bacon and cheese on top. The cheese was fine, but tasted a tad artificial. Portion was good but you have to pay extra for it to be a side. The carrot cake was good. Would have liked it to be a little more moist, but not bad. The frosting wasn't too heavy and had a good sweet flavor. Relatively standard cake, costs $5 for an okay portion. The people serving were super nice and friendly. They made sure there weren't onions in the order. And, the general atmosphere is pretty nice as well. There is a little drink shop attached to the restaurant and that is where the takeout section is. All in all, I'm glad I finally tried this place. I am a little obsessed with the old reality show Dance Moms and I've been wanting to eat at Mohan's, since the moms often go there on the show. Finally came here for Friday night dinner, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is located in a strip mall type building along with the 6 pack shop and bar. Classic diner/family restaurant feel with lots of booths, good lighting, not too loud. They have a nice draft list with a lot of local and craft options. We tried some IPAs from regional breweries. I like that they offer 12oz drafts, not just pints. Fried chicken is a big menu item, but they also have other classic American dishes, salad, and pastas. Most dinners come with various sides as well as butter and rolls. You will not go home hungry! I tried the meatloaf - it was really flavorful with green pepper and lots of onions. Came with tons of dark beefy gravy. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were powdered. The coleslaw was great! Also tried the fried chicken dinner. Chicken was good, tasted like Popeyes. You know what is a good thing about all that is going on in the world today, you have the chance to try something new. Something, that otherwise, you would not have gone out of your way to experience. Whether it be a new take on food or a new place to hang out...socially distanced as it may be. I have been taking a new way to work the past few weeks and have past Mohan's every single day on my commute. One day I decided that I would give them a shot when it comes to food. I knew I was going to need lunch and why not stop and pick up food before I get to work instead of ordering delivery. I did my due diligence before placing an order. I looked up their menu and looked it over multiple times. You will want to do this for sure since they have an extensive menu that covers a lot of different tastes. I had decided that I was going to get an appetizer and a meal. In my mindset that meant that I would have a little bit to nibble on well before it was actually time for my lunch. Yikes, I should have thought that through. To clarify, it is not a bad thing, in fact a lot of food is a good thing. I had gone with the Fresh Cut Fry Basket for the appetizer. You have multiple options for this. You can go plain, cheese, chili and cheese, or loaded. Prices vary for each. I went with the loaded which includes cheese sauce, bacon bits and sour cream. These fries a definitely fresh, they are delicious and they use the massive potatoes. Some of those fries were as long as the container they came in. The cheese sauce was exactly what I expected it to be and the bacon added the next level salt to this that was needed. The sour cream cooled it all down and alleviated the need to reach for a drink after every bite. Now, if I would have known the serving size would have been so big, I would have probably just stopped at ordering this. My stomach was heavy after eating this and made me full for the rest of the evening. That led to me eating my main meal as a late night snack. For that I ordered their Italian Sampler. If, after looking of the menu, you cannot decided on what you want, this gives you a nice wide array of items on the menu to try. The sampler includes lasagna, spaghetti with marinara sauce, chicken Parmesan, garlic bread, and a side. This is a mammoth of a meal, one that you should probably forgo eating all day to be able to devour. You get to choose for sides but I went with a side salad as, to me, a salad pairs nicely with Italian food. This side salad reminded me of one that I would make myself at a salad bar. It came in its own container and filled that thing to the brim. Great mix of greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, and croutons. Of course you get to choose your dressing and they give you more than enough to douse this salad. I finished that salad and could have rested on my laurels, but I still had the main event to tackle. The lasagna was amazing. Perfect layers of pasta, marinara, meat and cheese. Exactly how you think lasagna should be, and then with that marinara over it, extra good. The spaghetti with marinara sauce was probably some of the best I have had. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly, easy to get to wind around the fork. The chicken Parmesan was by far my favorite of the trio. The chicken was thin, the breading was seasoned so nicely and that marinara and provolone cheese trapped any flavor that though it was going to get away. To top it all off, that garlic bread. My god. No vampire was going to get near me after eating that. I love garlic and this definitely satisfied my need for garlic for a while. Customer service here is top notch. The lady that I assume took my order over the phone also took care of me when I arrived to pick up my order. She was hilarious and so approachable. She worked well with her coworkers and made the atmosphere light in house. Definitely going to get me to come back here in the future. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our fried pickles and each of us got the whole wings. The Cajun barbecue is great and their homemade ranch is awesome. The Italian Sub is bountifully filled with meat, lettuce, tomato, and covered with provolone cheese that melts in your mouth with gracious flavors that delight any palate. Mohan's also has an array of various beer including micro brewed that's sure to quench any thirst. This is a must have to quench any thirst or cure any appetite. Open 7 days a week I recommend stopping on day to experience the fantastic taste of home cooked taste in a establishment I guarantee you'll revisit again and again. Of the restaurants I've reviewed I'd give Mohan's a 9.9 out of 10. I have been here several times before, and enjoyed everything, but I'm afraid I have made my last visit. I tried to call ahead to place a takeout order. I called from my car as I was leaving my house. Someone answered and immediately put me on hold. I was still on hold 15 minutes later as I pulled into the lot, so calling ahead apparently wasn't possible. I went to the bottle-shop side to place a simple order. I paid (left a tip), and was told it would be ready in a half hour. Not interested in spending a lot of time in a room with people these days, I went out to my car to wait. I came back, and found about 12 people waiting in the room with a listed capacity of 8. I hung out outside a bit longer, and then went in to ask if my order was ready. It was not. So I went over to the corner, as far from people as I could manage, to wait a few minutes for my order. A few minutes turned into a few more, and then a few more , and then when I had been waiting over an hour for three pieces, and I gave up and left. I'm glad they're busy, and I'm glad they're doing well in this environment. They just won't see me again. read more

So it was a Saturday night and I hadn't had a good wing in a while so we decided to try Mohan's again as they have been voted best wings in Penn Hills every year for as long as I can remember. Their menu has all of the usual suspects, burgers, salads, sandwiches, wraps and much more but the undisputed star of the menu has to be the wings! They are whole wings and they are HUGE! It had been years since we visited so much to our surprise we saw that they have expanded and more than double their space. We were quickly seated and had our drink orders taken. For our meals my wife went with the four piece fried chicken dinner which came with two sides. She choose a salad and cole slaw. The dinner also comes with a small basket of bread and butter. Our daughter got a burger and fries. No surprise there. I of course got the 6 piece wings with spicy ranch dressing on the side. I also got the potato wedges with cheddar and bacon on them. The wedges were delicious and cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Now when I tell you that the wings were old the chain, they were of the chain. Nice and big with a nice crispy skin and hot and juicy inside. These are by far the best wings in Penn Hills and dare I say the entire eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh! I could only eat two wings and about three wedges as I was stuffed. I was happy to have leftover to enjoy while watching football the next day. We will be back often! read more

Prices are pretty low and portions are big! We left very satisfied. Taste: Yum! Tried croquettes for the first time and they were so darn delish! It's shaped like a oblong doughnut and stuffed with chicken pot pie filling and dipped in a white gravy that tasted just like KFC's version! First restaurant I've been too since quarantine and I'm glad I chose this one. To start off everything was fresh and the service was excellent. We had the potato skins witch were delicious but not what I expected, these are more potato wedges. The cheese sauce for them is homemade so we weren't sodium overloaded, bacon was fresh. Just ate here after a trip to the zoo. I actually want to give it a 3.5 but I always round up. I had the Cajun ranch wings and my wife had the Cajun Chicken Salad. My kids split the chicken planks. The experience this most recent time was not good, both food and service, so I'm doubting if this is even the same restaurant I remember. We sat in the bar and the bartender said she would send out a server. Another party entered and sat too and a gentleman server went over to serve them. He seemed really nice. We figured he would come over to our table next but he didn't. Then a lady came over to our table, pen and paper in hand without saying a word. We assumed that was our invitation to order. We didn't know if she wanted just a drink order because she never said a word. We started with drinks and when she returned we ordered our entrees. Her name was Karan. I don't know if that is pronounced like Karen because she never told us. I found it on the receipt. Service was just okay. We watched the other table get served by the gentleman, talking and explaining the menu, and thought we chose the wrong table. Our server spent a good deal of time talking to that table and even sat down with them for quite a while. She must have known them. Maybe that's why they received good service, but the male server seemed genuinely nice. Food was also just okay. I remember the food being really good. It felt like we were eating cafeteria food. The salad was not fresh. The entrees were alright, nothing bad, but not great either. Prices weren't that high so we weren't that concerned.
