We stumbled on the Tin Lizzy. While not We stumbled into Tin Lizzy like accidental tourists on a mission we didn't fully understand. We walked through the bar, into the restaurant, and immediately realized this place has more levels than a video game, a bar, restaurant, speakeasy, rathskeller... at some point we weren't sure if we needed a drink or a map. Luckily, our server saved us from total confusion. Attentive, engaging, and basically a tour guide for the building, they explained the whole setup. We now feel obligated to return just to finish the rest of the "levels,". Cocktails? Delicious. Dangerous, even. The kind that make you say, "We should come back," before you've even finished them. Now the food. My husband ordered a cheesesteak that could double as a dumbbell. I got the fish sandwich, which I can only describe as "aquatic overachievement." It was so big I briefly considered naming it and splitting custody. I took one photo, mostly because my arms were too tired from lifting it. Both were delish!!! Okay so this place is freaking awesome!!! I came here this past weekend with 4 other people. There are 3 sections to this restaurant. The top floor is definitely more upscale and they have mixologist who make this exquisite drinks! The middle floor is where most people like to enjoy their food, it's more calm and has a homey vibe to it, and the downstairs is more of like a dive bar, college party bar feel to it. We sat at both the middle and the basement and let's just say the basement was where our kind of people were! Kelly managed to be both our waitress and bartender and she was awesome! So friendly and helpful. She was able to hook us up with many drink recommendations!! The food here is also just as awesome. We ordered the spicy cheese curds and the pretzel bites with beer cheese. We weren't too sure about the pretzel bites, but they were recommended by us so we figured why not. They ended up being so delicious. And let me tell you, the spicy cheese curds were definitely spicy! Idk what they put in them to make them hot but they're sure good. For my main course I ordered the chicken Parmesan with a side salad. The salad was great and the chicken parm was the best I've ever had! If you're ever in Latrobe, come here!! I have had their sandwiches before and.those were pretty good. I suppose I would rate them 4 stars for the sandwiches. I stopped by today to try an entree and was not so impressed. I got tuscan pasta with sun dried tomatoes and veggies. Overall it was ok, but nothing great. The tomatoes seemed better suited for some other dish and the pasta was a bit over cooked. We went in regards to support local (every small business is struggling and we typically do not do chains) with the local flavor. Well we buy these certificates and get sandwiches for a quick meal. We get our bills (which aren't added up correctly) and then charged... show these certificates that we purchased and claim they do not take!!!!!! I am sad to say that tonight at the Tin Lizzy/ Flappers, I experienced some of the poorest customer service that I have ever encountered at a restaurant. I wish I could say the worst part was the hour wait with a reservation (and even so, one side dish was not brought over until the meal was nearly finished). Upon arrival, we were told that we had to pay in cash because the card machines were down, and due to a menu shortage (?), the papers we received had only vague items listed such as "pasta with sauce." As a result, we made sure to clarify with our server the various pastas and sauces that were offered. We were eventually brought three pasta entrees with an entirely different sauce from what we'd ordered - meat sauce instead of vodka sauce - and were told that the replacement was made due to a mistake on the server's end about vodka sauce availability. This would not have been an issue if we simply would have been approached about the conflict and given the opportunity to make a new selection. Instead, the kitchen took it upon themselves to use whatever other sauce was available, giving no advance notice or effort to communicate. One friend in the group is vegetarian and could not eat her meal, while her side dish was delivered cold and the cooked vegetables ordered for the table had no flavor/ appeared to be from a can. The staff member we asked to speak with chalked up the experience to "really bad communication" in the kitchen. After we were told that the bill could be reduced accordingly, only $5 was taken off a nearly $80 dinner in which three of the four entrees had been entirely incorrect. When we requested that the bill adequately reflect the disappointing service we experienced, the liaison loudly made a comment to the manager that "$5 must not have been enough." Until tonight, the Tin Lizzy was my favorite local restaurant to visit with family and friends, and we have been frequenting the establishment for the past three years. However, due to the rudeness and complete lack of consideration by the staff tonight, the Tin Lizzy has permanently lost our business. To any prospective customers, please think twice before wasting your time and money, as it clearly is no longer what it used to be. read more

Ordered angel hair pasta with meat sauce and a meatball. The sauce was disgusting. It was way too strong. It tasted like it was made from tomato paste and not tomato sauce. There were 3 or 4 small bits of meat in the sauce. The meatball was made mainly of breadcrumbs. It was horrible!! They used to make great pasta sauce. This is my 2nd bad experience at Tin Lizzie and I will no longer go there and eat. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I was in Blairsville for business and the hotel recommended Tin Lizzies. I was a little skeptical but so glad I went! The stuffed mushrooms were crispy and cheesy. The bar upstairs was extremely well stocked and the bar tender (Alex?) made an awesome blood orange Old Fashioned. I had three gnocchi with meatballs and it was excellent. Downstairs is for the kids. Middle floor for the workin' man (bar) or just in for a bite to eat (restaurant). Top floor if you want to sit outside or pretend you're a flapper. Needless to say, I always go to the top floor. Food is good, but the menu hasn't changed in a while. Lots of typical restaurant food, but a few good things. The curry chicken sammich is good. So are the scallops over some type of marinated onions (pickled onions, maybe?). Beer selection is OK. They have Great Lakes' Elliot Ness on tap, so that's what I usually go with. They'll play some 30's/40's era music which is a nice background noise. The place in general has a good vibe. Love sitting outside, even when Harley's are idling at the red light nearby, railing on the throttle. I once saw Arnie (Palmer) there. Went here a few weeks ago as I've been hearing about how good this place was....i loved going to this place when chef dato had his restaurant here... It's a smaller restaurant but it's got charm. So my wife and i ordered the ny strip with twice baked potato... Had the wedding soup as well... Wedding soup had great flavor and enjoyed it! Crackers were stale though.... Steaks came.... They were fantastic! Done perfectly... Seasoned perfectly... Whoever their chef is knows how too grill a steak for sure!.... And the twice baked potato.... The food was excellent, really fantastic no frills burger and a meatball sandwich. Everything was fresh and handmade and priced for food and drinks were totally reasonable. Super cool historic space, great old building with appropriate decor. Mike the bartender was super great and informative, introducing us to regulars and helping us find things to do around the area while filling in on some history. This place is literally a hidden gem. From the outside you'd ask yourself...Do I really want to eat here? The truth is the food and service here are amazing EVERY time we visit. We usually try to stop in on a weeknight when it's not so busy. The servers are always top notch, friendly and go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your meal. We try and get here at least once a month. So many places to go to eat but this place is too good not to be a 'regular' in the rotation. Neat building and cool set up with multi dining rooms. We have not been to basement bar but the other 3 rooms (4 counting the deck) are all excellent. Good service, good drinks, great kitchen/menu. If u are in the mood for something different and want anything from steak/wine to great sandwich/fries/beer...try this place! Btw...we love the fireside dining in the winter. I imagine this was an old speakeasy from the prohibition days, as I felt like i was walking into some strangers basement. This is another bar on my western PA bar crawl with Uncle Chris and Cousin Gary. Within minutes of getting my first drink, i hear a glass drop, then another. Thinking someone was getting careless by the pool table, i hear what sounded like multiple glasses and a bar table fall. the next thing i see the bartended (female mid 5 feet range) jump over the bar. Some kid gets whacked with a pool stick and everyone starts punching each other. The bartender tried to restrain the biggest dude right as my uncle got out of the bathroom. he thought we should take off, because he didn't want his sister (my mom) to scold him for taking me there. The other family at the bar left as well. They did have a fast police response time as they were arriving just as we left. It was the first real bar fight i'd ever seen, and hopefully not the last. 4 out of 5 b/c i didn't get to stay there for more than 30 minutes. read more

The character is AMAZING and the food is GREAT! The building has three levels, each different from the last. The basement is in a colonial-style bar, the middle is a restaurant, and the third, my favorite, a haunted, 1920s style, flapper bar. The decor, furniture, and even the music is all 1920s/flapper-esque. Dimly lit, open late, and good wine. If you're the kind of person that likes atmosphere and character, this is the place for you. If you're the kind of person that likes the typical, cookie-cutter bar, don't bother.. We don't want you! haha As you can probably tell, I'm a huge fan.
