My mom and I stopped here for lunch on the way back from last minute grocery shopping. The exterior of the building is beautiful, and it has been around for nearly 200 years. So there is an old age charm about this place. Inside it is pretty modest with the bar being the main draw. But alongside the bar are a few booths, and beyond the bar they have an informal dining room as well as a game room. The lunch menu listed mostly sandwiches, but I did see a selection of wings and sauces which piqued my interest. In Pennsylvania, one can often find great wings in hole in the wall places made by small time cooks who make their own sauces. This place was no exception! I opted for 6 garlic and butter wings and 6 California gold rush wings. They charge this as 2 separate orders of 6 wings rather than a single order of 12 wings costing you about $2 more, but when the wings arrive, I doubt you will complain. Turns out, when they say wing, they mean the full wing. So each wing was really equivalent to two regular size wings. All of a sudden my 12 wings just exploded into 24 wings -- far too much food for me to eat. The garlic and butter wings were exceptionally good, among the best wings I have ever had. Fresh, rustically cut garlic generously adorned the wings. Lovely. The gold rush wings had honey mustard and hot sauce. These were pretty good, but not nearly as good as the butter garlic wings. I felt the heat was really missing from these, but the mustard had nuance which was nice. The wings themselves were definitely prepared to order and were very large. Service was really friendly, and everyone was down home. This is probably a good local drinking spot at night. Definitely recommend for the wings.

Pizza and wings were ok not great. Kids ordered chicken strips and fries, the strips were raw in the middle.

We don't get wings anywhere else. Plus they have a nice menu to order from. Sandwiches, pizzas and sides.

The tortilla was crispy and flavorful and was complemented by a tasty filling of steak and cheese. Impressed by the entrees we ordered flan and this was also quite good. Dayana was an attentive and skilled server. Hope to have her as our server on future visits. We were early diners so can't speak to serving speed as the kitchen didn't have much to do but being early we were able to appreciate the decor and quality look of the restaurant. It is a nice addition to Murrysville.

I had a less than stellar experience my…read morefirst visit so I decided to give it a second chance and still don't see why it is a hyped up as it is. Maybe because I'm more interested in food quality and service and having instagram photo opportunities. The first time I was there, it was kind of a hot mess express (but it was not too long after it opened so I figured maybe it was just growing pains). Basically all the tables were full and they didn't seem to have enough staff to keep up with the high amount of patrons. Service was slow and they were unable to answer some seemingly simple questions about menu items. Food was good, but it wasn't anything that gave me a wow factor or made me say "I definitely need to come back here" Especially since most of their food was more expensive than other local Mexican restaurants. The second time I returned, service seemed to be a little smoother, but everything did still take longer than you would expect. They were out of some things you would think would be staples and have a lot of and things like water refills took awhile. Overall, it isn't a bad place and the food is good. It is just overpriced and overhyped for what it actually is.

Madero Cantina Norwin also had mostly decent reviews, so I gave it a try. I sat at the very nice bar. The atmosphere is modern, not trying to look like Tijuana, with clear background music that isn't so loud that I couldn't hear people across the bar talking. What I'm going to say might sound contradictory. My earlier meal was closer to the Mexican food I was used to in Southern California. But not exceptional. As a vegetarian, I usually start with cheese enchiladas as a way to judge a Mexican restaurant. The service was excellent, and they are definitely vegetarian friendly. Unlike "genuine" Mexican food, their refried beans are vegetarian, without the traditional lard. Their Spanish rice isn't vegetarian friendly (chicken stock used) but they have a vegetarian alternative rice. When they cook for a vegetarian, they use a different grill, so your food isn't cooked in meat grease. I know this because Jake, who served me, covered it all as soon as I mentioned that I was vegetarian. When the food arrived it looked great, and it tasted great as well. If you're looking for genuine Mexican with lard in the beans, this might not be the best local option. But I really enjoyed my meal here, and recommend it highly!

While flavor is fine, it's the same size you can buy at Chipotle for $3. Then, the queso fundido is bad. The queso isn't really melted, the flavor is missing, and they don't give tortillas to eat it with, just tortilla chips. For $14, this is really bad. The chips and salsa is again bad. The chips are so stale which is disappointing. Don't get the fajitas. I got the "mix 3" and ordered chicken and shrimp. There were 5 pieces of shrimp and a few measly, dry pieces of chicken. At $22, fajitas should also come with tortillas. But again, no tortillas are provided. Quite disappointing. Churros are decent and the chocolate ice cream is actually tasty (definitely store bought). Avoid this restaurant if you don't want to be scammed and left disappointed in the entire experience.
