We love this place! Atmosphere, customer service, food! The best in the area, really!

Second time to the Gray Goose. Noted that there were a number of items on the menu which sounded good. Especially because our first experience was deliciously good. Tonight, we had Lynn as a server. What a treat. She is knowledgeable, helpful and good to ask for recommendations. Very attentive. For an appetizer, we shared the tuna special. Presentation and taste was delicious. My wife had a buffalo Mac & Cheese appetizer for dinner. I had the salmon dinner. I can recommend this restaurant and our server Lynn. read more

A landmark with a beautiful setting and yes it's a museum! Heath was our amazing bartender who took the utmost care of our group of ten! A picture perfect setting! We enjoyed delish apps of breaded fried mozzarella, truffle fries and a shrimp app lightly coated and very tasty. Can't wait to go back. All staff was wonderful! We were here for a private party and the food was so yummy! The tempura veggies were my favorite and everyone at my table loved the filet crostini. The display of the food was excellent as well. The place is very quaint and cozy with a bar that overlooks a pond. We will be back with the kids for regular dinner! read more

We just had a fabulous brunch this morning at the Gray Goose. This was one of the best brunches I've had in a while. My daughter and I chose the Poached Crab Eggs Benedict which was really good. I liked that they added avocado and almonds to it. My son had the pancakes which were huge! Almost covered the entire plate! My husband had the Big Breakfast and it lived up to its namesake. The home fries were really special, made with fingerling potatoes so they were very crisp yet soft inside. Everyone thought the food was good and of a high quality. The jam was even homemade that they served with the toast! Our waitress was very attentive. She kept the water, coffee and iced tea all filled at the right time. We sat in the dining room with the stone fireplace. The whole restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. Including the restrooms. They even had nice simple Easter decorations in the entryway. I have been here many times and each time it seems to improve in the quality of the food. Kudos to the chef! read more

We decided to try The Gray Goose for our anniversary. We made reservations ahead. Our table was ok, but in a corner between two loud tables. The appetizers were both very good! The tuna tatiki was perfectly seated and the texture was perfect. The buffalo cauli was also very good. If was a large plate. I brought the rest home and had it for two lunches. The prime rib was meh. Salmon was also meh. This may be one of those places better for apps ans drinks. The salmon was in a mushroom and buttermilk gravy. I like mushrooms. I like buttermilk. This tasted like dish water. My salmon was dry. The atmosphere is super cute! They offer a Fiji apple salad which i bet could be decent. I'd probably try that if we go back. Oh.. we were thanked for coming upon leaving which I find to be a large plus. Despite the main courses being less than expected, the rest of the experience was pleasant. So I'm giving the gray goose 4 stars. read more

This is one of my favorite places for brunch. I always sit at the bar and Karen is phenomenal. She has great recommendations and is seriously the kindest and nicest person. The food is awesome--the smash burger was incredible and get it animal style for a taste of California. The monte cristo sandwich was delish and the big breakfast was just what my son had in mind. Pancake, eggs, bacon and fruit. I'd say that it's a little pricey, but in my opinion, well worth it. The pond in the back adds to the charm. Inside could use a little sprucing up, but I can live with it as I love everything else! read more

We came here the night before but they were too busy to accommodate us. It seems the area may have been hit with the aftermath of the pandemic where service workers have moved onto other things. We decided we would make reservations for the next day for lunch. And we did come back around 11:00 a.m. We got the half garden salad, PEI mussels, and burger and fries. Our friends also got the burger and fries and lobster roll. We all thought the fries were limpy and would have preferred crispier fries. The friend with the lobster roll didn't finish her meal. She thought it didn't taste fresh. I got the mussels. Though it was a large portion, the mussels were very tiny. The broth had no taste. It needed more flavor. Service was definitely friendly and was the best part of our mediocre meal. Wish the food held up to the lovely establishment. read more

We had a lovely anniversary dinner there over the weekend. Our food was EXCELLENT. Our shared, tuna tataki appetizer--melt-in-your mouth ahi tuna with prepared with a wealth of interesting and tasty accompaniments was something I've had there before and I hope it stays permanently on the menu! I had a half portion of their popular roasted beet salad (see their menu online for details) and loved it. My husband had a half portion Cesar salad with shaved fresh Parmesan which he enjoyed. The swordfish steak (a special) was divine--tender and moist with a delicious crust on it. My husband's prime rib was a selection he's had there before because it does not disappoint. The service was attentive but they did not rush us. We had a memorable experience, just as we expected! Highly recommend The Gray Goose. read more

We were in search of a good place to grab brunch/lunch around Ligonier and thankfully ended up selecting The Gray Goose. We were the only table there for a while on a Saturday morning. The bartender was also our server and he did a great job, including taking a few pics of our brunch bunch and telling us about the history of the place. The Big Breakfast is GINORMOUS!!! It needs a new name reflective of its mind numbing largeness. I hunkered down and dug in, pledging to finish it all. It took some real doing, let me tell you, but every bite was so delicious and layered with flavors. The potatoes did not look like much. Don't be fooled. They are just sublime as was the freshly made wheat berry bread and super fresh eggs. The bacon was so perfectly crisp and yet thickly cut so it made for a great bite with some egg mixed in. But wait! There's more! Those pancakes were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside with tremendous flavor that was enhanced by the really yummy syrup and butter. Everyone else enjoyed their brunch items too. It's pricey but worth it. read more

I come to this restaurant quite a bit and enjoy the food, the drinks, service, and ambience. Looking out over the large pond and enjoying the company of the owner are all terrific features of this great place. Yesterday I had a particular type of fish that was featured. It was supposed to be like Sea Bass, however, it was extraordinarily bony throughout. Our server told us in response to my failing to eat a lot of it -- and showing well more than a dozen small bones from inside the flesh, not the tail-- that he'll let the chef know so the next person will have a better experience. Not quite the answer I was expecting. It was supposed to be crab stuffed, as well. It only had some type of brown looking breading, very little or no crab. I did enjoy their mushroom soup and salad very much as always! The server was very nice as was everyone else's meals. So I can't say anything bad about going to this great restaurant. I'll be back. It's usually closer to 4+ stars. Recommended! read more

My wife and I had an enjoyable evening at the Gray Goose. The restaurant has a very homey colonial tavern atmosphere. We started with their fried rock shrimp special. It was delicious. It had a sweet bbq taste, combined with some jalapeño heat, all balanced with a yummy sour cream dipping sauce. We then split the Caesar salad, which was good but not great. For our main coarse, my wife ordered a crab cake. Like the salad, it was good but not great. It had a nice flavor, but had a bit too much breading. My meal, however, was outstanding. I got the short rib pasta. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The ragu was spot on. I completely cleaned my plate - I couldn't get enough of it! Combine the good meal with a friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere, and the result is a very satisfied customer who will be back. read more

WOW!!! Who knew such a place existed in Ligoneer!? We visited for brunch on a Sunday, sat outside with a view of the lake, and our server was awesome. The food was a little delayed coming out, but well worth the wait - - a large table had been seated just prior to us which slowed the kitchen down. The server kept us informed and we loved everything we got - lobster roll, smash burger, steak and eggs, and "big breakfast" - we will return! read more

Walked in at 5PM Saturday evening 9/21/2024. Excellent service, excellent food! Had the Thai BBQ Chicken wings appetizer(Perfection)! Husband had Fuji Apple salad with Ahi Tuna and I had Garden Salad with King Salmon. Both were absolutely delicious. Truffle fries did not disappoint. Créme Brûlée dessert was delicious. The business is a beautiful location and the wait staff was eager to provide a good experience but fell short. We started with Mussels, Raw Oyster and Calamari appetizers. The mussels were a good with a nice twist of saffron and chick peas, the raw oyster selection were excellent, the 5 whole calamari were fair as they were lost while served atop baked potatoes. Entrees Crab Cake sliders, prime rib and blackened salmon. The Sliders arrived first slightly burnt, followed 5 minutes later by 1 order of prime rib, then another 5-7 minutes for the remaining prime rib and salmon. The prime rib was cooked as requested with very subtle flavors, the salmon was cooked until dry and inedible. The bartender was not up to the challenge of a busy environment and repeatedly expressed concerns of being too busy. Hard to say it was a great experience, with prices medium to high end and poor customer experience ($225 for 4 people). read more

Our first visit here and maybe we were expecting more but boy what a disappointment. First of all we wanted to order from the lunch menu it was 10:55 and our server said we couldn't so we order from the brunch menu that's fine it the people next to us with the same server order lunch. So I ordered the pancakes with Nashville hot chicken and blueberries on my pancakes, we waited 1 hour for our food and I didn't get the chicken or blueberries and my food was cold. Mind you there was only 3 tables occupied. When I mentioned it to my server which was another 15 minutes to wait for her to come back she said ok walked up to I guess the manager and he just said take it off their bill. Didn't care to ask why or anything. I will bet this place won't be open long. By the way the other two tables also has issues including waiting a long time to get their checks and pay. read more

My husband, myself and another couple had dinner here the evening of 9/15/22. Chef Ben outdid himself! Our waitress was the best and very informative. Her recommendations were "spot on". From the delicious Beet Salad with whipped ricotta to the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Sandwich to the especially outstanding and mouthwatering Filet Mignon Oscar, we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience. It was the first visit for my husband and our friends and they cannot wait to go back. The Happy Hour drinks were also a nice surprise. We all recommend the Gray Goose 100%. Went in for lunch on a Sunday and so happy we decided to stop. We say in the bar area which offers views of the lake. The restaurant and bar area is extremely clean and inviting. I wish I lived close to this place, because it would become my favorite place to enjoy a beverage and some good good. We had the ribs and I was surprised at how well they were prepared. For a place that is not a BBQ speciality place, these were good ribs. Hoping to return soon read more

Reserved for a Wed night, group of 14 for a business dinner. Robin was so kind to set us up In the lounge room. Most were coming in from out of town. It was a hike from Mt Pleasant to Ligonier but it turned out well. Great space for a large group. Got there around 6:30-7pm. Danielle our hostess was very attentive. Cocktails served around the room and apps were served to the group as they were mingling. Guests enjoy Stuffed mushrooms with crab, pretzels, bacon wrapped duck and egg rolls. They were all very good. For the entree, salmon, Chilean sea bass, chicken Marsala (tonight's special), sirloin were enjoyed by all. Everyone said they enjoyed their choices. For dessert we had the Gray Goose special, apple pie with ice cream and a buff pastry were all very good. For a large group trying to get the right spot in Greensburg is not an easy task. This was a bit out of the way but it was relaxing after a long day and enough privacy without being isolated in an I closed room was a nice way to end a long work day. Last Friday night we enjoyed a very good dinner outside on the patio. We loved the mussels appetizer cooked in a saffron broth with garbanzos. Absolutely delicious! The black and blue burger was outstanding as was the beet salad with a crab cake. Everything was flavorful and service was great. The drinks were just what we needed to complete the evening! If you're ever in Ligonier area do yourself a favor and stop at the Gray Goose. The bar is friendly and beautiful and overlooks the tiny lake out back. We normally do lunch or stop for s drink and appetizers but today we decided to stop for dinner & we were happy we did! The people working there even made a fire for us in the dining room because we were cold!! The food was wonderful and server very accommodating and friendly. I am so happy to see this amazing venue is once again In good hands. Chef Ben Gahr has been a major contributor at several local restaurants for years. It seems he's found a home for his passion, creativity and skill. Oysters, mussels, spring rolls, house made pasta, rack of Elysian Field's lamb and prime rib. The menu is fine dining, comfort food and seasonal/regional fare executed brilliantly. This nostalgic venue is one of the best in the the Ligonier Valley now so is the food. read more
