Rabbit Shrimp dumplings
Kathy L.

Dim Sum Review It's not a very big restaurant, but everything is clean, and there's nice Chinese décor even before you walk inside. There were just two of us, and the staff asked if we were okay sharing a table with another family. Instead, they put us in the VIP room, which was very nice and spacious. It seems like the room is really meant for larger parties. We ordered the shrimp dumplings because we saw the dim sum chef making them as soon as we walked in. The shrimp dumplings were good--the wrapper was light, soft, and nicely made. The only exception was the rabbit-shaped dumpling, which had extra dough because of the shape, so the skin was understandably a little thicker. The siu mai was okay but not as good. It seemed like it had been reheated and was probably sitting for a while because it was dry. Unfortunately, the other family sharing the table also found a bone in their siu mai, so they had to send it back. After seeing that, I was a little scared to eat mine! The chicken feet had a different flavor from what I'm used to at other Cantonese dim sum restaurants. It had a fermented tofu taste. It wasn't bad, just different. The lychee shrimp was not what I expected. I thought it would actually look like a lychee, but it was more like shrimp dumplings with crispy fried noodles. Still, it was good and crispy, and the shrimp paste had a nice texture--not too soft. The xiao long bao was flavorful and the meat filling already had ginger inside. It didn't come with vinegar, though, and I think the vinegar would have made it even better. The beef chow fun was disappointing. The noodles didn't seem very fresh--they were sticking together and had a hard texture. The taro puff was the worst dish for me. It had a really bad taste and seemed old, almost like it was going bad. I couldn't finish it and definitely would not order it again. Overall, there were some good dishes, especially the shrimp dumplings and xiao long bao, but there were also quite a few disappointing ones. I'm not sure if we would come back again.

Favorites this time were the spicy won tons and fried rice. Beef was good but would try something different next time. Did not expect the signature shrimp to be fried. Busy place, an hour wait at 6:30 on a Friday night.

Treasure is an upscale, trendy restaurant located on El Camino Real in Belmont. They have a small parking lot in the back for customers, which is convenient. The menu isn't very extensive, so we decided to try a variety of dishes, including the Crispy Custard Egg Tarts, Triple Blessings Steamed Platter, Jade Black Sesame Bun, and a few of their popular dishes--the Jade Rabbit Shrimp Dumplings, Golden Silver Turnip Cake, and Shanghainese Pork Soup Dumplings. The Crispy Custard Egg Tarts were extremely sweet and not really to our liking. The Triple Blessings Steamed Platter was unique and a fun way to sample a little bit of everything. However, overall, none of the dishes really stood out to us. Everything was decent, but nothing left a lasting impression. Service was just okay. We were served water in plastic cups, which felt a little out of place for an upscale restaurant. We were also never asked what type of tea we wanted, which was surprising for a dim sum restaurant where tea is typically part of the dining experience. Overall, the service and dining experience didn't quite match the upscale atmosphere.

After all the mostly good reviews, I'd say the Peking duck was excellent but they forgot my soup which took forever to show up after I asked about it . They did not give us more duck condiments even though we asked . The beef in the beef chow fun was dry and tasteless. The garlic green beans were excellent . The soup noodles was blah . The beef brisket clay pot was good. We had a great server called Paco. There did not seem to be anyone else as attentive . So would I come back ? Yes n trust it will be better as the menu is definitely worth trying

Came back for the dry Hunan smoked pork belly with cauliflower and I felt like I liked it more the first time I tried it and I'm not sure why. Got a different green veggie dish (I forgot the name) that was bland, a dry tofu dish that was ok and chicken feet that was also ok. Didn't get the complimentary chrysanthemum jello this time. Ambiance is still great. But service was a bit slow for a late Thursday lunch.

For dim sum in the Peninsula everything was solid. I wouldn't say there was a standout dish for me but my friends thought it was good and would come back. Definitely a more trendy/upscale dim sum spot (think palette tea house) with unique flavors. Personally I think they did too much with the turnip cakes and prefer a more traditional flavor; my friends liked the Peking duck (although I prefer the skin crispier), and enjoyed the rabbit jello for its light and refreshing flavor. The basics like the honey glazed pork buns, siu mai, and har gow were all solid as well. On the plus service was good and presentation for the dishes was lovely

Came here for a birthday lunch. Never heard of this place, but glad I was introduced to it. The highlight was the fried ha-gao. Never seen this before, but I love the crunchiness of the skin and the seasoning on it 8.5/10. Peking duck was crispy and not dry and not super greasy 8/10. All the dumplings were decent and quite big. Inside is nice. Chairs are a little weird because the back is at a weird spot. The automatic lazy Susan is stupid and takes so long to come around.

Welcoming entry area.

Very good Chinese cuisine, with Cantonese, Sichuan, Northern & Southern dim sum offered. Peking Duck is their specialty here and it's carved table side. Nice decor, good service and free parking in their lot behind the building. We enjoyed the dry pot lotus root, the sautéed green beans with eggplant, and cumin lamb. Everything was prepared with quality ingredients. Not too oily and great flavors. The lamb was lean yet tender. We kept eating even when we felt full because the food was so good. If you want duck, you need to call them 24 hours in advance. Reservations recommended. We will be back to try more dishes.

(Hidden) Treasure! Came here hungry on a Saturday evening with the girlfriend. We called ahead and managed to get on the list for 6:30, which was a good call, as they were pretty busy. The food was great, we had the orange chicken and the stir fry green beans and eggplant from the regular menu, both of which were well portioned and delicious (we couldn't stop). We also got some dim sum: spicy wontons, pork/shrimp siu mai, shrimp hargow, and crab/pork soup dumplings. The dim sum was perfect, big size, and well filled (not just dough). We were also one of the few non-Asians there, if that tells you how authentic/delicious this is. Docking a star because we were mostly forgotten about and had to search out and flag someone down to take our first order, to ask for the dim sum menu, to take that dim sum order, to get boxes, and to get the check. There was no "how's your meal" or "can I get you anything else". I'd usually dock more for that, but the food made up for it.

Nice Chinese restaurant local place! Servers are really nice, as is the manager. We got to sit in one of the tables in the middle section and the lighting is really nice. Feels almost like a private room. Their private room seats more and I think there is a $1k minimum. Tried some new dishes today: the mapo tofu was a hit and the crispy chicken and ho fun with beef. We also really liked the egg custard tarts. The soup dumplings are not our favorite - almost no soup inside. Our new spot for family meals.

Belmont finally has the upscale Chinese dining spot it deserves, and Treasure absolutely delivers. From the moment you walk in, the space sets the tone -- a dramatic charred-wood feature wall with a sculptural pine tree, a stone foo dog, and a trickling water feature under the backlit "Treasure 中餐厅" logo. It feels more like a design-forward Hong Kong tea house than a strip-mall restaurant. We went for the dim sum tasting box and it was the clear highlight. A twelve-compartment wooden presentation arrived with lotus-leaf sticky rice, siu mai topped with tobiko, har gow, shrimp dumplings, sesame balls, a pillowy lotus-paste bun, crispy taro puffs, egg tarts, a golden baked BBQ pork bun (bolo bao style), and a beautifully crunchy rice-crusted shrimp ball. Each piece was visibly handmade and plated on its own ceramic dish with shiso leaves -- this is dim sum treated like kaiseki. The baked custard-topped pork bun deserves its own paragraph. The crust shattered into buttery golden crumbs with a taro-like filling that was sweet, savory, and not overly dense. The shrimp ball wrapped in red tobiko was another standout -- crisp, briny pop on the outside, juicy whole shrimp inside. The menu also leans into regional Sichuan and home-style dishes, with clearly marked spice levels (one or two chili icons) on items like Sour & Spicy Lotus Root Slices, Stir-Fried String Bean with Eggplant, and Sichuan-style Fish-Fragrant Eggplant with house garlic sauce. Seasonal greens include A-choy and yu choy sum, which is a nice touch you don't see at most American Chinese spots. Service was attentive, the tea service came in a lovely clay pot, and the pacing was perfect. Prices feel fair for the quality and artistry on the plate. If you're on the Peninsula and craving elevated dim sum or Chinese food that actually photographs as well as it tastes, Treasure is the move -- go now before the waits get unreasonable.

Treasure is an upscale Chinese restaurant on El Camino Real in the City of Belmont. Their menu offers dim sum, Cantonese cuisine, and various regional dishes. We were a party of 3 for lunch on a Wednesday. At 12-noon, the place was about 60-70% full, with plenty of 4 & 6 seat tables. They also have several round tables that seat up to 8. Also, a huge table is in a private dining room in the back. The interior is beautiful and elegant. There's colorful fish suspended from the ceiling. Also, you can watch them make dim sum thru a window. We looked over the lunch menu and the main menu, and ordered these items.... - Jade Shrimp Dumplings (4) - Custard Egg Tarts (3) - Golden-Silver Turnip Cakes (6) - Pork Soup Dumplings (6) - Jade Ribbon Noodles w/ Steamed Spare Ribs - Chinese Kale - House Chow Mein ------------------------------------ Total w/ tax= $90.81 All the food was good. The presentation was well done. The only dish that didn't seem right was the "Ribbon Noodles w/ Steamed Spare Ribs." It should be called "Steamed Spare Ribs on Ribbon Noodles." Because that's how it's served. It's a mountain of steamed riblets over a bed of ribbon noodles. So why 4-stars? There were some service issues. I believe our server was still in training. He brought the wrong dishes to our table, then seemed unsure of what to do. The manager came to our table and assured us that our dishes would be correct. There were no more problems after that. Overall, a good first time experience. It was nice to see this place and have a casual lunch. I would love to return and experience the dinner service. Great food quality and presentation. Free parking

Best Kung Pao chicken on the Peninsula…read more Tucked away in a small business strip on El Camino in Belmont, Blue Sky Café is easy to miss. I didn't know it existed until a TikTok review said it has everything Panda Express has, only better. They were right: the menu goes well beyond Panda Express, and the quality is far better. I called in a takeout order around 1:00 PM on a Saturday. They quoted 30 minutes, and it was ready in 25. When I went in to pay, the line had grown from three groups to out the door, all 12 or so tables were full, and the register was stacked with to-go orders. Since I was parked in a handicap space, the staff kindly offered to bring my order out to my car when it was ready, which was extremely helpful. The restaurant was very clean and well organized, and the staff were friendly even with a packed house. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken à la carte, no rice, for just over $19 with tax. The chicken was tender, the peanuts plentiful, and every vegetable was cooked perfectly: zucchini, celery, green pepper, and onions that were translucent and sweet. I enjoyed every bite. The little container of chili oil added heat without being too hot, with great flavor. The soy sauce packet was a nice touch, though the dish didn't need it. How it compares: I priced Kung Pao chicken at three places, all before tax. A large Kung Pao chicken takeout box at Panda Express, no rice, is $13.75, but it holds noticeably less than Blue Sky's container. Cheung Hing in Millbrae is $14.95 with rice, in the same size container as Blue Sky. Blue Sky is $17.50 with no rice, so the whole container is chicken, peanuts, and vegetables. The prices are close, but Blue Sky wins on volume and taste, hands down. The TikTok hype is justified. Tips: Order by phone. The online ordering quoted about 70 minutes, while my phone order was ready in 25. Lunch ends at 2 PM, with a break until 4 PM for dinner. Check Google for busy times before you go. I wasn't planning to eat out this month, but the TikTok video pushed me to try it. No regrets. I'll be back to try more of the menu. Highly recommended.

The first time we attempted to eat here, the wait was too long, and we had a flight to catch. We finally got the chance to try it last month and waited over an hour on a Saturday evening. Upon entry, there's a pad on the wall to the left to join the waitlist. They only have two large tables, and the rest are 4 tops. I have seen them combine the smaller tables to make one larger table or crowd a party of 6 to a 4 top. Menus are accessible by a QR code, which you can order directly from. The food looks amazing, with generous portions all around. On our visit, we got: * Fujian Style Egg Tofu with Large Pea Shoots $26.95 - This dish is a bit misleading as there is also mushrooms and what appears to be crab on top of the greens. But it's really the fried egg tofu that's the star of this dish. * Salt and Pepper Pork Chops $16.95 - This is definitely a great bang for the buck! The pork chops are plentiful and have a great flavor. * Pumpkin with Salted Egg $16.95 - It wasn't as salty egg tasting as I had hoped. * Steamed Minced Pork with Salted Egg Clay Pot, Small $17.95 - Clay pots are a novelty for us since we don't get it often. Give yourself extra time as this take longer to prepare. As them to cook it a little longer so you get a really good crispy rice exterior. * Steamed Spare Rib Black Bean Sauce Clay Pot Small $17.95 They are busy with usually 2-3 waiters running around constantly. And it's a tight space, so you'll need to wait outside or in your car since they text you when your table is ready anyway. The restrooms are outside, so you'll need the key. Overall, Blue Sky Cafe has some great eats. We'll consider going again, but either try for lunch or a much earlier dinner to avoid the crowds. They have a ton of takeout orders as well.

A large portion that seemed like a whole chicken and a steal for only $23 - Green Beans (4.5/5): Another large portion, well charred with perfect texture. Served with ground pork and a hint of spice - Meatball Clay Pot (3.5/5): the server did say it was soupy but it was probably my mistake as I thought it would be more like the Shanghainese lion head braised meatballs. Instead it was a very simple clear broth with Napa cabbage, small meatballs and a few strands of vermicelli noodles. The broth flavor was extremely mild and the meatballs didn't have much flavor and were firmer than expected.
