What a hidden GEM! A small but mighty delicious restaurant for Taiwanese food. While it has the "Inshou" name - it's not the same as the Inshou Cafe which is Hong Kong cafe type food. At Inshou Dim Dim Noodle - this is delicious Taiwanese classics and some unique dishes - or at least for me it was unique... Came with my daughters for an early dinner on a week night and was able to get a table. The classic Taiwanese dish is the Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle Soup and a dish we get at all Taiwanese restaurants - it's like setting the bar for the restaurant and this place set the bar quite high. The noodles were perfectly al dente with the right chew and the BEEF - so tender with so much flavor - and the broth - SO deep and beefy. And they add the pickled mustard greens which add more texture and different flavor!! What was unique for me was the Golden Napa Cabbage - which on their menu was considered Limited Daily - I don't know if I should share this here but OMG - it's so different and so tasty - we absolutely gobbled it up - it's got they gochujang with sesame dressing flavor with the cooked crunchy cabbage!! It was so good that I ordered another to take home. My mouth is watering thinking of this dish... And the other unique dish (for me) was the Century Egg Sesame Noodle - WOWZA... who knew how delicious this combo would be along with the perfectly al dente noodles... And they were generous with the century eggs. It's that funky creamy egg taste with the creamy sesame noodles - what a flavor bomb! OH and they first dropped off a complimentary pickled cucumbers which was a refreshing crunchy way to start our meal!! Service was great and we can't wait to go back!! I want to try their pork intestine noodle next time - and definitely get the cabbage... oh shoot - I love the Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle and their Century Egg Sesame Noodle - I think I need to go super hungry!! LOL
Don't judge a restaurant by its storefront! Dim Dim Noodle might look like a little hole-in-the-wall, and I swear the businesses in this spot have changed a few times, but my recent visit to DDN was actually really enjoyable! I don't think they changed much of the interior from the previous restaurants, but honestly... who cares LOL, I'm here to eat. Service was quick, and what caught my attention was how many unique items they had on the menu. You'll find Taiwanese street food favorites like stinky tofu, three cup chicken, popcorn chicken, and more. O R D E R E D - Braised Beef Noodle Soup - Wasabi Cucumber - Fried Crispy Pork Ribs - Taiwanese Sasuage V E R D I C T The standout for me was definitely their signature braised beef noodle soup. The noodle texture was PERFECT -- not mushy at all, with just the right amount of chewiness. But the broth was what really got me! It was super rich and flavorful, and when I say flavorful, I mean the flavor really soaked into the noodles. Even when I ate the noodles without a spoonful of broth, you could still taste how rich the soup was. BONUS: Parking is super easy since they're surrounded by two parking lots. And for my fellow Tesla drivers, there's a Tesla charging station nearby too -- literally about a 30-second walk by the Hampton Inn. Good food, quick service, easy parking AND I can charge my car while I eat? I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu!
Excellent service and excellent food! My visit was on a Saturday evening with my five-year-old son and my husband. The restaurant is small and quaint, and it is ideal for solo dining or parties up to four. We were promptly seated and given cucumber infused water. Our waiter was attentive and got our order in promptly. We waited about eight minutes before the first dish arrived. Every thing was fresh and made to order. The complimentary house cucumber salad was a great way to start the meal, and everything that followed was excellent. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken was crispy and crunchy; it has great flavor with hints of basil. I split the scallion noodles with my son, and he was a fan. I also enjoyed the crispy pork that came with the rice. We also got shrimp siu mai, and they were stuffed with shrimp! My husband got the dan dan noodles, and he basically licked his bowl. This was a great first visit, and I will be back!

We walked in on a Saturday for brunch and was seated at the last table available. We were lucky because a steady stream of customers came in after us and had to wait. * Cucumber Appetizer - This was complimentary and a nice way to start our meal. A simple, refreshing Taiwanese cucumber salad that started the meal off right. * Tossed Bamboo Shoots with Wood Ear & Lotus Root $10.99 - I enjoyed the flavors of this dish. I'll probably try to replicate it at home now. * N27. 台灣紅燒牛肉麵 Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle Soup $18.95 - This is something the Little Guy always likes to order when he sees it on the menu. It was obviously good as he ate it all up. * Signature Shrimp Dumpling Noodle Soup $15.99 - The Husband enjoyed this soup. * Crispy Fried Stinky Tofu $12.75 - This was the clear winner of the day as we all loved it and ordered a second plate. Unfortunately, they no longer offer the crispy lace pan-fried dumplings that are on the menu. They were busy, so service wasn't the greatest. They were definitely understaffed. I ended up getting up and helping myself to sharing plates since they were so busy. And we had to wave them down a couple of times of water and what not. They were very nice though.
Food 5/5 The moment you walk in, it smells Taiwanese. I was really craving some braised appetizers so we found this little gem! I love the fried combo appetizer, it's takes me back to Taiwan instantly. I wished they had just braised pig ears instead of the one with chili oil. The noodles didn't taste freshly made, which was okay since that's not what they advertised, however I think it would be nice if the century egg was more mashed and incorporated into the sauce so it's coated on the noodles. Everything was tasty and I'll be back to try other dishes! Service 5/5 Came on a Saturday afternoon it was just us. But nonetheless, the aunties were very friendly and attended to us. Ambiance 4/5 It's a simple and clean restaurant. Not very spacious and wished they had tidied up the space more to make it more Taiwanese themed.
Cute little Taiwanese noddle shop. Tasty stuff. The Lotus root, Woodear Mushroom & Bamboo shoot salad was fresh, crunchy & tasty. The Shrimp dimsum are made to order & top notch. The signature Braised beef noodle soup was hearty & flavorful. It's tucked away on the far side of the mini mall. Homely feel, friendly service. A must try for people looking for a different asian.
What a great local place. Nice to have another Taiwanese place nearby. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. I got the pork intestine noodle which I think is a special and their stinky tofu. The tofu had the expected funk and was nice and crispy. The sauce was good too. The noodles were nice a bouncy and the soup spicy! Definitely give this place a try!
Was intrigued by the century egg sesame noodles. Noodles have good texture, right amount of spice. Nutty sesame flavor Wife got beef noodle soup. Piping hot broth, flavorful. Cucumber appetizer on the house. Pleasant Creamy soft eggplant Sad that Shugetsu closed but this place not a bad replacement
We are excited for this new spot opening in our hood! Even more exciting is Inshou Dim Dim Noodle have some legit Taiwanese dishes on its menu in addition to Cantonese dishes. Inshou Dim Dim Noodle is located in the Marina Plaza off Hillsdale & Norfolk, right by 101. There's free parking in the plaza and usually not difficult to find a spot nearby. Imagine my excitement when we saw the stinky tofu on the menu! It's homemade, fried just right, and tasty. The Taiwanese noodle soup was delish too. They satay seafood noodle soup was tasty; but the broth was a bit watery for our liking. Everyone's favorite for the meal was the golden kim chi -- fermented in-house with pineapple, it was really yummy! Service was homey and friendly; we enjoyed speaking with the owner (the wife) who was friendly. We'll be back to try more of the dishes!
It's a small restaurant on the side of the Marina shopping center closest to Denny's. They serve mostly Taiwanese dishes. The five of us ordered 5 noodle dishes plus an order of 3 cup chicken and an order of dumplings to share family style so we could taste everything. My sons liked the scallion oil noodles and dan dan mein, we all liked the bowls of noodles with a lighter broth (Chicken and Shrimp Noodles). I didn't love the flavor of the 3 cup chicken and beef noodle soup, maybe too salty for my preference. I would come back to try other dishes. The servers are very nice and helpful answering questions about food allergies. I especially love that they don't add any peanuts or tree nut ingredients to their menu. Definitely let them know if you have an allergy to be safe.

Nothing to write home about, a bit bland and somehow I think had too much MSG...it had that taste. MSG is great but not if something has no flavor but the taste of MSG. They give you a good portion of beef. The noodles could be more al dente. N27 Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle Soup. This soup had more flavor, and points for having suan cai even though it wasn't cut up. Again, generous with the beef, the noodles could be more al dente. N28 Beef Brisket & Oyster with Pork Ball Noodle Soup. I think this was weirdest one. I wanted to like it, but somehow it was bland, again the noodles could be more al dente, and it honestly just left a bad aftertaste. I went to get Jamba Juice at the mall afterwards as a palette cleanser. I would absolutely avoid this one of all the dishes. N34 Century Egg Sesame Noodles. Most OK of the bunch, but I wouldn't come back just for this dish. S40 Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken. This was above average, consistent with some of the better popcorn chicken you'd find at boba shops. Not too salty, not dry, and you get fried basil leaves. They didn't have stinky tofu when we ate there for lunch. Friendly service but did want to give a heads up to curb expectations on the dishes until things smooth out. Also, random and unrelated to the rating of the review, but I'm pretty wary of all the AI slop restaurants are using for marketing materials. Oof.
Came here on a friend's recommendation. I think they are still soft opening. When my mom and I came here, we got confused with "inshou" cafe and the dim dim noodle on the side. I assume the inshou is probably the plaza name? So don't get confused! The corner is the HK cafe, while on the right side is the Taiwanese Noodle restaurant by a small family. I came here around 12:30 pm, there was only one party here, and about 9 tables to dine in. You sit yourself. The owner is nice and friendly, she gave us some recommendations, like their popcorn chicken is super juicy. Unfortunately, my mom and I are still jetlagged from our Taiwan trip, so we just ordered two bowls of noodles. I ordered the Taiwanese beef noodles. The noodles were el dante. Broth is savory and rich. The noodles have a nice chew to them. The beef is also very tender. My mom got the dan dan noodles. It was a little sticky, so mixing was a bit hard to mix. Sauce is good with a hint of sesame and slight MaLa spices. It's not spicy, which is great for our taste. It was slightly undercooked. Overall, the experience was nice and friendly. Very welcoming, and it seems there's only one chef. The kitchen is an open space, so you can see that it's only one person cooking. It took some time for our food to come, not sure if they'd add a cooker. But it's super cute to have a little helper out there giving water to the customers!
We are seriously missing an authentic, good Taiwanese small eats place in the Peninsula, so I really want this place to succeed. It definitely has potential. My absolute favorite of the night was the homemade stinky tofu. It was nicely fried, and the tofu inside wasn't dry at all. The only thing is, I wanted it to be a little more stinky! We also got the pineapple fermented pickled cabbage, which was unique and a nice departure from the usual spicy versions or standard kimchi. For the mains, the broth in the noodle soups fell a bit short--it was just too watered down, and I really wanted a more intense flavor profile. The noodles they use are okay, but I prefer a much chewier noodle (if you've been to Teawood in SF, they use a pretty good example of what I mean). On the plus side, the service was very nice, and you can really tell the team cares about customer feedback. They are just starting out, and with a few tweaks to the flavors, this could easily become a go-to spot. I'll definitely be back to see how they evolve!

I visited this place 5 times so far. My favorite is the Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle Soup. It's a flavor I haven't found anywhere else around SF. The broth is rich and savory in that slow-cooked way that only comes from simmering for hours. You can taste the actual ingredients instead of that artificial flavor boost some places use. The beef is also really good and tender! Definitely my go-to dish! I've also had other dishes that I loved including Taiwanese pickled cucumber which is on the house, Golden Napa cabbage, Crispy stinky tofu, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and Garlic green beans. This is definitely the place to have authentic Taiwanese flavors! Love this place! Can't wait to be back. read more

The food here was amazingly good, my buddy thay ordered the beef noodle soup said its the best hes ever had and hes been to taiwan . The beef was extremely tender, very flavorful and portion size was huge. Our server Isaac was attentive but not overwhelming and gave me excellent recommendations on dishes. Food came out fast, hot and tasty, he has a great team. Im 100% coming back for more dim sum and a different noodle dish read more
First of all the restaurant is quite small with limited seats. We waited for 15 mins on weekends during lunch time. The appetizers came out really quick. However, my chicken noodle soup took almost 30 mins and they told us it might be out of stock and asking me to order something else? But they eventually gave me the right noodle soup but I feel like the management team needs improvement. read more

New taiwainese restaurant at marina plaza complex. Itvis still soft opening. I came here twice already in two weeks time. The interior is pretty much the similar to 2 previous restaurants. It is open kitchen concept. The menu is pretty simple with mostly taiwanese dishes and also dimsum. One interesting in the menu is stinky tofu. I cannot imagine I'm someone order it. As the restaurant is small, the smell could be overwhelming. We ordered taiwainese beef noodle soup, pig ear, pork chop friedcrice, , golden napa cabbage, wonton noodle soup, tossed bamboo shoot with wood ear and lotus root. The unique dishes are pig ear and golden napa cabbage. This is the first time I have the golden napa cabbage. Thevpig ear is spicy but not too spicy. The popcon chicken is tender eventhough looks like portion is different between tables as many customers ordered it. Beef noodle soup is yummy and the wonton soup too as the noodle , meat and wonton are tasty. The least I like is the tossed bamboo shoot one. Overall good meal. One other thing is suggested gratuity is 18 % and above and in top of total amount with tax. read more

Amazing Taiwanese food. Period. I came here with my friends, picky eaters husband and son. They were non stop eating. They like beef noodle soup, pork chop fried rice and of course the famous Taiwanese crispy chicken. Although they didn't try the fried pig blood, I, as an authentic Taiwanese, can confirm the taste is very close to the local Taiwanese standard. A must-try when you come here. read more

The service was great and felt like home. The braised beef noodle soup was perfect! The broth was clean, flavorful, and the beef was so tender. The cucumber salad was fresh and better than most popular chains out there. Comfort food at its best. This place is definitely worth supporting! read more

Beef noodles is really great! Big chunk of soft meat, soup is flavorful. The noodles are a bit hard in my opinion. Century Egg Sesame noodles was really good too, very creamy, interesting taste, cucumber on house was super good. 3 cups chicken was okay. Lots of chicken, I just wish the meat can be softer. Service was good, the restaurant has some old Taiwanese songs on, remind me of the time in Taiwan. Overall I would give out 4.5. read more

mom and pop taiwanese restaurant. Came in Sunday around 5p and seated immediately. Parking: plenty outside restaurant inside same area with Hashi market. Ambiance: not much decoration on thr wall just table and chair . We ordered beef braised noodle soup, stinky tofu, oyster tendon beef soup and popcorn chicken. Food came within 10 min. They gave us free cucumber salad plate while we were waiting. Stinky tofu was pretty good. Meat in the noodle food was tender. Food was on milder healthier side on taste - less MSG. Would come back and try on more things since they also have dim sum options. read more

So happy to have a delicious authentic Taiwanese restaurant in San Mateo / Foster City. Very reminiscent of the Taiwanese food I had while growing up in Taiwan. Beef and chicken were tasty and tender, cabbage had a very good flavor, the sesame noodle was a different take on the Dan Dan noodle with century egg instead of fried egg. The portions were generous. Friendly staff with good service. So many items I want to try. Will be coming back to try them all in time. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but this spot totally earned it. We stopped by for an early dinner and were honestly surprised by how good everything was. The Taiwanese Golden Kimchi is a must-try--fermented cabbage with pineapple, which gives it a really refreshing, slightly sweet twist. The standout for us was the dan dan noodles. They come with an egg, and the rich, savory meat sauce pairs perfectly with the noodles. The texture was spot on--chewy and satisfying. It has a mild kick, but somehow my son (who usually avoids anything spicy) loved it and finished the whole bowl! The scallion noodles were also solid, simple but flavorful. And don't skip dessert--the sesame balls were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and super satisfying. Definitely coming back read more
