Purple stick rice with braised pork fan tuan
    Benny C.

This place is a ghost kitchen but man I hope it gets the love it deserves because the food here is super comforting and delicious! I got a Red Vinasse Pork Bento- LOADED! I mean absolutely loaded with various different sides and I mean cabbage, green beans, tea egg, and a heaping amount of rice. The pork was seasoned a fried immaculately, the egg was marinated super well, and there was even even a subtle, yet light, and delicious sauce that coated the rice. I still keep thinking about it. Purple Sticky rice with braised pork fan tuan - This is a complete meal in itself. Rice, Chinese doughnut that is still crispy, some pickled greens and loaded with the braised pork. The braised pork has fatty parts that just completely melt in your mouth with each bite. There's even an entire egg in there! What an absolute unit.

Was pleasantly surprised by the portion of the sticky rice burrito! It came in two big halves and was stuffed with rice, pork, boiled egg, fried dough stick/youtiao, and many more toppings. The rice was also seasoned so it was tasty to eat. I think it could last you two meals. A solid lunch option!

Taiwanese girl approved! Always looking for an outstanding fantuan and this place delivers. Since I'm in the Easy Bay, I can't stop by as often as I'd like, but if you're lucky enough to be on the peninsula, then please order yourself one of their bentos and these well-packed, beautifully assembled rice "burritos."

We love their purple rice balls! Almost the same as the ones we have in Taiwan. Definitely will come back and try other flavors.

Ghost kitchen where you can pick up a quick bite for lunch. Purple sticky rice pork floss fan tuan was full of flavor and had so much filling! Very nice rice to meat ratio. All you need to do is ring their specific doorbell to pick up your order.

Purple rice burrito. I really enjoyed the food. Was very flavorful and the popcorn chicken had the right amount of seasoning where I really enjoyed it. First time ordering from this place and didn't get any dipping sauce for popcorn chicken and didn't need any dipping sauce. Parking is some what of a challenge. This place is like a hole in a wall. It can also be a challenge to find. You order from the menu off of a wall that provides a qr code or you can just Google it which is what I did.

Still so yummy! And they've expanded their menu in the last few years! I recently came back from Taiwan and can confirm these are super super authentic!

outstandintg "fan tuan" (rice burrito/ball/roll) in an unassuming pick-up only location - redwood city eats! i was not anticipating the fan tuan to taste so authentic, but the fish floss combined with the chinese donut, marinated egg, and pickled veggies was delightful. order online and pickup at the window. note that this is in a residential neighborhood and the pickup window is next to some industrial areas. service is standard. however, the food is excellent and i highly recommend. can't wait to come back!

This is not actually a restaurant and has no storefront. They operate out of a ghost kitchen. You can order online and come pick up or order on your phone when you get there. I got the purple rice burrito and it was flavorful and really good. It came with sticky black rice, pork floss, mustard greens, pickled radish, fried dough, soy marinated egg, and crispy shallot. All the ingredients came together really well.

Taiwanese Eats offers fan tuans (AKA rice burritos), bentos, and a variety of appetizers. While the bentos aren't bad, my favorite is their fan tuans which are absolutely delicious! In comparison to Xiaoman Riceburritos which only offers options with pork floss, you can also get fan tuans filled with Swordfish Floss or Braised Pork at Taiwanese Eats. Both fan tuan places are good and the fan tuans are around the same price and size so this may just depend more on your preference / location. Their soy milk is also really good and comes in these fun, capri-shaped bags! Taiwanese Eats doesn't have its own storefront but serves food out of Redwood City Eats, a restaurant co-op similar to Local Kitchen where you can order food from various partnering restaurants either online for pick-up/delivery or via a kiosk if you arrive in person. Unlike Local Kitchens, there is no seating available at Redwood City Eats - all orders are to-go only. Also, there is minimal parking available so you may need to circle around a bit to find street parking. Overall, this is a great option if you're looking for fan tuans in the Bay! ORDER: |-| Purple Sticky Rice Roll with Pork Floss ($7.99) |-| Sticky Rice Roll with Swordfish Floss ($7.20) |-| Black Bean Soy Milk ($4.99) - Made with non-GMO soybeans and nutrient-rich black beans |-| Soy Milk ($4.50)- House made from non-GMO soybeans |-| Fried Chicken Cutlet Bento ($15.50) - Good portion size, chicken was well fried and had good flavor. Only complaint is that they used chicken breast so some of the pieces were a bit dry.

Taiwanese Eats is absolutely worth the drive if you're craving authentic fan tuan and soymilk. The menu offers soymilk, bento boxes, appetizers, and of course their signature rice roll burritos. Not many Taiwanese restaurant offer fan tuan so this is definitely a rare find in the Bay. This ghost kitchen is located in an area you wouldn't really expect it to be near a lot of car related businesses. Parking is extremely limited so I would count on ordering ahead and having someone dropped off to pick up the order. *Crispy king trumpet mushrooms- This was delicious and quite packed inside the box. The mushrooms were battered and fried beautifully topped off with salt, pepper, and basil. *Soy milk- lightly sweetened, creamy, yet doesn't have that dry aftertaste you get on your tongue with some soy milk drinks. This was so refreshing and perfect to wash down the sticky rice burrito. * Purple sticky rice burrito with braised pork - You've got so much packed in here with various flavors and textures. The purple rice is cooked perfectly- soft and you can appreciate the taste of each grain of rice. The braised pork is fatty yet sweet and full of soy sauce flavor. The marinate egg adds this extra layer of creaminess from the soft yolk. The fried dough retains all its crispiness like it was just freshly fried minutes ago. The pickled radish together with the fried shallots added so much aroma and sweetness that just blesses each bite. If you're looking for a flavor bomb of a fan tuan, come try Taiwanese Eats! It looks small but trust me, they are so filling and satisfying.

I was super impressed with their rice burrito varieties and I got the purple rice with pork belly! It was very thick and packed with filling which was a plus. I've also tried their black soy milk and that paired perfectly with the rice burrito. The location is a bit rough in terms of parking and I did have to wait an additional 10 min for the food to be ready but overall I'd get this spot again.

This is one of those local kitchen spots that's meant for takeout orders, as there's only one picnic table outside. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon lusting for some Taiwanese food. I'll start by saying this place is not in the nicest neighborhood, and street parking in the area wasn't easy to find. We ordered the Purple Rice Fantuan with Pork Floss and the Crispy King Trumpet Mushrooms. We then yeeted it out of there real fast to enjoy our food in a nice upscale park in nearby Atherton! Purple Rice Fantuan with Pork Floss (4/5): This gluttonous glutinous tight rice wrap has some serious GIRTH to it and weighs as much as Chipotle burrito! That fried dough and sticky purple rice synthesizes a savory harmony of guilty carbs. The piggy furry pork floss is fine enough for me floss my teeth with after! They did forget the pickled radish though. For its low price, this fantuan is a steal! Crispy King Oyster Mushrooms (4/5): These bouncy pieces of royal fungi are lathered up in a savory coating of popcorn chicken-like batter and spices. Would've definitely been crispier eating it right when it came out. I love the crispy fried basil leafs tossed in there as well! Overall, good food but sketch location is a bit of a deterrent for future visits. Make sure you have a plan in mind of where to eat before coming as well!
