Came in around 5 pm on a tuesday and got seated right away. Got the beef noodle and lamb noodle soups. They were both so yummy with good flavor and loved being able to refill my noodles after I finished the first bowl. We also got the fresh soy milk that was the perfect sweetness and just so good! read more

Such long lines here, but for good reason! The beef pancake is one of my favorites! Think i'll be getting this every visit! Tried the beef noodle soup and it was one of the most flavorful beef broths and most tender beef I've had in this dish in the Bay! The noodles aren't as chewy as I'd like, but the flavors definitely win! The dry noodles are so delicious as well; got the Tomato Egg & Spicy Stir Pork Noodles and I I can't pick out which I liked more. This was a little too spicy by default personally. But the sauces mix so well together and cover the noodles completely so every strand of noodles is packed full of flavor! Be prepared for a wait though! If you dine in, they also do unlimited refills for the noodles. However, the portions are so big to begin with that I don't think I would ever need a refill! read more

Li's Knife Cut Noodle is on 25th Street in San Mateo. Street parking is metered and can be a challenge, but the church parking lot up the block is an option when it's open. The restaurant is usually packed, with a wait of at least 30 minutes, so we were surprised to find no line on a weekday. We were seated right away. The space is casual and seats about 40 people. A laminated sign by the window advertises free unlimited noodles. We ordered two bowls of beef noodle soup, and they arrived quickly. The broth was rich, savory, and piping hot. The beef was tender, and the vegetables were crisp rather than soggy. Service was attentive throughout. It's a great spot for a hot bowl of Chinese noodle soup, especially if you have a hearty appetite and want to take advantage of the noodle refills. We'll definitely be back to try other dishes--as long as the wait isn't too long! read more

The restaurant is a bit small, but it fits a decent amount of people. I did see someone storing their stroller right next to the cashier due to the lack of space elsewhere. Their knife cut noodle was indeed very good. However, it doesn't feel like they paid much attention to other things. My veggie at the top was cold. All they had to do was maybe pour some soup over it and it could at least be slightly warmed up. Ngl, that gave a pretty bad first impression since I always start by eating veggies first. The cold appetizer was also very very salty. My husband still finished it because he didn't want to waste food. Overall impression was not great, but if you stick with their noodle soup + can finish the bowl yourself, you can get unlimited refills. Value-wise, that sounds pretty good. read more

An amazing no frills place with very good food and service. We arrived 30 minutes before opening and there were already 9 people in the queue. Ten minutes after opening, the restaurant was already full, and people were still coming in. I opted to have the Spicy Pork Intestine with knife cut flat noodle and was very impressed. The noodles were chewy to my liking, and the soup came out piping hot and very flavorful. The intestines were not gamy and they were very tender. The Dan Dan noodles was also very good with a generous mixture of sauce and peanut toppings. We also had a side of the Garlic String Beans and Fried Chicken wings. Like the other dishes, the String Beans also did not disappoint. Definitely will come back to try out their other offerings! read more

This busy mom and pop restaurant offers authentic Chinese food at reasonable prices and big portions. We were seated and greeted right away upon entering the restaurant. We ordered the Unsweetened Homemade Soy Milk, Pork & Shrimp Chives Dumplings, Pork Pancake, Shredded Potatoe Salad, Mala Pork Ribs With Potatoe Noodle Soup, Tomato Eggs & Minced Pork Combo Noodles. For dessert, we had the Coconut Lava Balls. Our food came out in a timely manner. We like the fresh homemade Unsweetened Soy Milk. The Pork and Shrimp Chives Dumplings and the Shredded Potatoe Salad were ok. The Pork Pancakes were kind of on the dry side. Out of the two noodles that we ordered, the Tomatoe Eggs with Minced Pork with Potatoe Noodles was our favorite. The noodles were kinda chewy. The highlight of the meal were the Coconut Lava Balls. They were delicious and weren't too sweet, which we really liked. The waiter didn't come by to check on us or even offer free noodle refills. After we dined here, we were pretty thirsty for the rest of day. read more

You know a place is good when your Asian mom eats here and goes, "... I think your dad will enjoy this" because there's no one pickier than your mom or your dad. On a weekday afternoon, we were seated promptly and I let my mom handle the ordering. 25th Avenue can be quite busy if you're here during the lunch rush or the weekends so just be aware, but there are no meters to pay which is great. They utilize Yelp waitlist so you can put your name on the list and go around the area (there's a Goodwill nearby) if you need to kill time and you'll get a text message when you're next. Overall, the food was good and the portions were reasonably priced. The highlight is the unlimited noodles which my dad can appreciate. There's not much service interaction, but the food comes out quick and you'll leave happy. read more

This place was packed for lunch, even on a weekday. When we arrived around 12:30pm on a Thursday, we got the last table but the crowd kept coming and the tables kept turning over. They were filling all the tables even as we left. - spicy beef tendon appetizer - tendon was very tender. There was the numbing spice but the dish itself wasn't actually spicy. Decent - 7/10 - F04 Tomato Egg & Stir Fried Minced Pork & Hot Chili Oil Splashed Combo Noodles - I tried each flavor individually and liked them all. The tomato egg has great tomato flavor and the egg was tender and silky and not overcooked. The stir fried mince pork and hot chili oil splashed flavors were very similar - heavy spice and very garlicky. Couldn't really tell these two apart (or they were kinda premixed already when it came) so I ended up eating the two together, while keeping the tomato egg on the other side for a change of flavor. The knife cut noodles were fresh and bouncy. Some pieces were thicker and you can tell that it was actually fresh cut. Texture was good and not super starchy. 8.5/10 - I'd order this again! Others in my party tried the mala beef soup with potato noodle. I didn't try but was told that the soup had good mala flavor but was missing the depth of a good beef soup. Noodles looked thick and chewy while the beef was very tender. One bowl was enough for us so none of us got to do their noodle refill. Maybe next time. read more

Came here with my family for my birthday dinner and was completely blown away with how good everything was. This place is pretty tight, my family of 5 were pretty crammed at our table but we made it work. We came hungry and ordered a lot of stuff to try. The highlights from the plates we shared was the beef pancake. It was extremely flavorful, and the veggies brightened them up nicely. I decided to order the spicy stir fried pork noodle with the knife cut noodles and they were amazing! The pork was extremely tender and the broth was super flavorful, but oily! They advertise free noodle refills, but with all the appetizers we had and the generous portion of noodles given, I was too stuffed to ask for more. Since there's always room for dessert, we tried the sesame balls and the coconut lava balls. The sesame balls were pretty standard, but the coconut lava balls were phenomenal! They were crispy, and had a great coconut filling that had small amounts of sago. To order, there's a QR code that you scan to place your order, which I appreciated because it was nice to see photos of the food. The service was pretty quick from when ordering food to receiving it. I will definitely be recommending my friends to this place if in the area and am already looking forward to coming back! read more

Great place for noodles and dumplings! The restaurant gets busy on weekends but we got there just early enough to beat the crowd. We ordered several dishes including their housemade knife cut noodles. My favorite dish there was the spicy intestine noodles. The pepper beef chew mein was really good. The noodle refills are unlimited and only apply to the round noodles and knife cut noodles. It also makes sense that each person has to order their own bowl (no sharing) and finish their bowl first before getting a refill. read more

This is a funny play of words if you know Chinese. The actual Chinese name means Li Noodle Please but phonetically it means "come inside." I do have to give points to the cleverness of the name especially if the owner does have Li as his last name. The place is advertising it's knife cut noodles which is actually my favorite type of noodles. However I'm taking 1 star away because it's not as chewy as it could be (the dough is not pressed as often as it should have been). The noodle places are getting more popular nowadays in the Bay Area so there are now more competition and honestly this place doesn't stand out enough (once again, work more on the noodles to make them more chewy). Other than that the noodles are fine. The prices are high but on par with NorCal prices. The location is small and service is so so (just what I expected). The parking however is ridiculous for such a busy food street. You will be lucky if you find a parking spot. Most likely you'll probably have to find street parking in the neighborhood during busy hours. read more

Free noodle refills! How can it get better than this? My parents showed me the is restaurant and finally came with them. We got their beef noodle and lamb noodle soup. Li's Knife Cut Noodle has been in my bookmarks for a while, so we ventured to a quieter side of San Mateo, which we rarely see, West 25th Avenue. Upon entering, the spot looked clean and bright with colorful red signage. We got there just in time and found one table available for the 3 of us. All you have to do is scan the QR Code for the menu and place an order. The staff was friendly and pleasant. Food came out quickly. *** O U R P I C K S *** a06. CUCUMBER WITH BLACK FUNGUS ~ This was nicely seasoned and on point for flavor and texture. Enjoyed by all! 5/5 a10. SPICY PIG EAR ~ Nice, crunchy texture and a bit spicy, but nothing I couldn't handle (I'm weak when it comes to very spicy things!) Love this too! 5/5 c04. MARINATED BEEF PANCAKE ROLL ~ The meat was tender and tasty, but the pancake didn't seem to be flaky and was denser than others we've had. It was more chewy than crispy or flaky. But leftovers were taken home and heated in an air fryer for a delicate, crispy finish. 3.5/5 e01. BRAISED BEEF NOODLE SOUP (KNIFE-CUT NOODLES) ~ Noodles were chewy, and the beef stew was very tender. However, the broth could be more flavorful. 4/5 c01. CHINESE BURGER ~ I thought the burger bun would be somewhat flaky and crispy like a Raojiamo, but it was more like an English muffin. So this wasn't what I had expected. Though the meat filling was tasty, a flaky bun would have made the burger exceptional. Sadly, this didn't make the cut. 2.5/5 They even sell frozen handmade dumplings for $12.99/18pcs (buy 10 & get 1 free). Fillings: Pork Dumpling with Napa Cabbage Pork Shrimp with Green Chives Egg Shrimp with Green Chives Beef Dumpling with Onion Lamb Dumpling with Carrot Chicken Dumpling with Corn Prices are really reasonable for the amount of food we had, though we had a few hit-or-miss dishes. However, if we're in the area again, we may try other things on the menu. read more

They have two groups of waitlists. One for the two tops and one for groups of 3 or more. But they don't tell you that. You have to figure it out yourself. There are also very few larger tables. Their attitude is, "people are taking a long time so there's nothing we can do." Actually, yes, you can be flexible enough to move your tables together to serve people first come first serve. So, if there are six tables ahead of you, be ready to wait over 1.5 hours for a table. We have a hungry kid and waiting for another hour is not acceptable. read more

I came here with 2 of my coworkers on a Saturday around noon time and there was a long line. We had to put our name down and were finally given a table after waiting for maybe 45 minutes. It wasn't that bad of a wait though as we were entertained by the dog groomers next door. We ordered a beef noodle soup, potato and beef dry noodle, wonton soup, beef pancake rolls, and spicy wontons. It was so much food that we didn't take part in their extra noodles after finishing the bowl. My favorite had to be the braised beef stew as the soup was hearty, the beef was tender, and the noodles were very firm and bouncy. The beef pancake rolls were a very close second, though there wasn't anything different that they added compared to other places. The rest of the dishes were pretty good though I would definitely pass on the wonton soup next time as the soup just tasted like dried seaweed (something I don't like). Overall a really nice place to share dishes with your friends and family. read more

Came on a Sunday around 7 pm and there was a bit of a line and we waited about 20 mins to get seated. It is a bit small inside and we had a party of 7 so understandable that it took a while. We ordered Dan Dan Mein, Egg and Chive pancakes, Chinese burger, and the lamb noodle soup (forgot to snag a photo). Everyone loved the dishes and they offer free noodle refreshes, which is a great option. The noodles were chewy (qq) and very satisfying to eat. The Dan Dan Mein is a bit on the spicier side but that's alright for me but wish it had a bit more flavor. Coming to try because a friend recommended and saw their cute bowls and plates. Waiting was easy because of online system let you know your table almost ready. It's a really small area with cute decorate Order online, so not much service food comes out fast. We ordered a variety of different items. Soy milk is good, did not have any burn or uncooked bean favor not super sweet. Chinese burger: the meat is good fatty a bit salty but disappointed for the bun. I was hoping it's crispy and flaky but it's really a bun. Popcorn chicken was dry inside Green onions pancakes are crispy but again not flaky and too much layer. Favor is good Garlic green beans, it sure if they are too busy? One bean is crispy one is not, and one is favorful the other one is not, it didn't mix well for sure Lamb dumplings not very juices the skin thicker side a lot of carrots Spicy beef tendon and marinaded beef, it's cured really thick so it's in chewy side. If they cut it thinner will be better the flavor is good Tomatoes egg & stir fried minced pork noodle, we got round noodle, the noodle is good qq, the meat taste about the same as the burger meat and it's not minced it looks so big. The egg and tomato needs more tomato. read more

We really enjoyed trying out this spot! It is always crowded with a long line, but using their Yelp Waitlist system helps a ton. They only have indoor seating available and the place is clean. The hand-cut noodles are amazing and have the perfect chewy texture. While the soups are a bit on the saltier side, the beef noodle soup was definitely the winner for us--it has a great spice profile, whereas the lamb soup tasted a bit heavy on the MSG. Another awesome perk is that they give you free noodle refills (half or full portion) for soup noodles! On top of the great food, the staff were very nice and the service was attenti read more

A takeout favorite. There's usually a long line if you want to dine in, but you do get a noodle refill (if you choose) if you dine in. My go to order is the shrimp, pork, chive dumplings and the Chinese hamburger. We've also tried the tomato egg noodles and beef noodle soup. Both are solid. I'd skip on the pork "pancake". It came deep fried even though it shows pan fried on the menu picture, and traditionally is not deep fried. They probably just wanted to cook it quickly. read more

Came to Li's Knife Cut Noodle and minus the initial interaction with staff, we enjoyed the experience. When we arrived, there were two tables ahead of us. After a few calls, we noticed they skipped our number and boyfriend asked. The waitress claimed that she called us (did not) and he retorted the claim. She then apologized and acknowledged that she didn't but she had already called another number. Fine. She then comes out again and calls another number that's not us. When we ask why she says it's because the table is for 4. Uhh...ok? When she comes out a third time, she skips us yet again and this time the family she calls tells her that we were first and yet she presses that it's because of the table size. DUDE. In the next call, a man comes out instead and we expressed some frustration and he immediately seats us....at a table for 4. The irony. But at least that was the end of it, the rest of the experience was tasty and as we expected. We started with the sliced tendons which were paper thin and so good. The portion was incredibly generous too, we kept eating and it felt like a bottomless plate! We then tried the egg and chive pancakes which were herbaceous and very chive forward, nice! For a main, we shared the tomato egg pork and chili oil dry noodles. The noodles are perfectly QQ and really satisfying. The combination of pork with classic tomato egg was also really hearty and tasty. Would recommend for sure! All in all, we definitely look to come back. Hopefully we get better service next time! read more

Before seeing a show in San Francisco, my buddy and I dined at Li's KCN based on a recommendation of a friend. While the food is around a 4.5, I'm rounding up to a 5. On a Tuesday, we arrived a little after 5pm and there were still plenty of tables available, but they quickly filled up with diners and the restaurant was busy with take aways as well. We ordered the following: Pork Dumplings With Napa Cabbage Garlic String Beans Braised Beef Noodle Soup with extra bok choy + beef+noodles Everything was tasty and I wouldn't hesitate to order everything again. Ordering is through QRC, but if digital is not your style, our server, who was quick and efficient, said she'd take our order the old school way. Fortunately, the QRC method was easy and had pictures. Additionally, there is a Li's KCN loyalty program that you can load, but in order to get the 3% rebate, I would have had to remember to scan the card at checkout which I didn't. Extra noodles are homemade and complimentary, too. On a weeknight, parking nearby was available. The restaurant is clean and well lighted. read more

Food: 5.0 | Service: 4.75 | Ambiance: 4.75 LI'S KNIFE CUT NOODLE, opened a second location in San Mateo from their original location in Berkeley. Went for a quick dinner and LKCN's a brightly lit but small space filled with diners who are there to slurp their noodles down and run. So turnover is pretty good even with a wait. There's a kiosk to get on a waiting list but I got seated right away since I was solo. You can order via QR code or waitstaff. Waitstaff is nice, fast and efficient. Ordered: A02. CUCUMBER SALAD, smashed w/garlic. A must order if you like garlic like I do! C03. PORK POTSTICKERS, freshly made potstickers. What more can be said! Really meaty and juicy - it squirted juice across the table. Ooops! Fine alone but did add a dash of black vinegar to up the umami. There's also house-made chili crisp but the vinegar was perfect for me. E01. BRAISED BEEF NOODLE SOUP, arrived piping hot in a big bowl of braised beef cubes, knife-cut noodles, broth, garnished with bok choy. Did not add any condiments to the bowl and it did not need it. While the big bowl was a bit intimating, happily slurped my way through to almost the last drop! There are a few operational issues to be ironed out. Though it doesn't affect diners but you could see duplicate dishes showing up at tables that had the dish already. I ordered by QR code but the wait staff didn't realize it until he looked at his tablet and confirmed it for me. I do appreciate the waitstaff checking in during the evening. With most QR code ordering you don't necessarily receive the customer care. So I really like this latter point. Cannot wait for a return visit to try SPICY BEEF TENDON, DUMPLINGS, MARINATED BEEF PANCAKE ROLL, GARLIC STRING BEANS or PEA SHOOTS, SALT & PEPPER TOFU, SPICY PORK INTESTINE NOODLE SOUP, TOMATO BEEF CHOW MEIN and more! The name of the restaurant caught my eye a few months ago, and I finally made it back on a Saturday. It's a cozy space with fewer than 15 tables, so we waited about 30 minutes for a party of two. Ordering is convenient via a QR code. We tried the beef noodles, dumplings, and beef pancake. The noodle soup was a bit too oily for my personal taste. I wish there were a clear broth option. Tried Li's Knife Cut Noodle for the first time and really enjoyed it! My girlfriends and I visited on a Tuesday night around 6:30pm and there were a few tables open but it was still fairly busy. It's a cozy spot, with tables placed close together to maximize seating. Once seated, you scan a QR code to view the menu and place your order. I got the beef noodle soup, while my friends ordered the lamb noodle soup and the dan dan noodles, all with knife-cut noodles. We also shared an order of pig's ear. The broth was flavorful and then beef was tender, but the highlight was definitely the noodles! Perfectly chewy and al dente. I also stole some of my friends dan dan noodles, which was a nice change of pace from the soup. The sauce was nutty and creamy! The portions are generous but I forced myself to finish my bowl, so I could get a noodle refill. The refill was also a very generous portion. The pig's ear was tasty as well, though a bit heavy on the cilantro for my preference. The staff was prompt and brought us take our boxes and also the bill. You order by scanning a QR code and that sends your order to the kitchen which is neat. I ordered the braised beef noodle soup with regular round noodles and a marinated egg.
