    Tomato beef chow mein
    Con C.

Decent prices and special fried rice or mein if you essentially buy 3 dishes. Bitter melon beef was ok but small portion. Yee mein with crab was good and fried rice was tasty. Old style tomato beef chow mein was best. No frills restaurant but good food and busy service. Expect to wait 30 min for take out. Would come back if in the area

Food is a 4: tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced. You can pick from sitting at a booth or round table. Service is a 1.5, you really need to be an advocate for yourself and be aggressive to track someone down to order, however once you do---food comes out quickly. Parking is easy and free. Very old school Chinatown vibes---so go with that in mind.... Would come back.

I've been to the Cheung Hing in Millbrae and it's decent. This was my first time at this location. Ordered the wonton noodle soup and the broth was super salty. The 2 pieces of bok choy had dirt in between the leaves. The to go order took forever. Service is typical for a Chinese restaurant.

One of my favorite places to order affordable Chinese food. I especially love their bbq pork/roast duck over rice dish. Other dishes are delish is scramble egg chow fun! If you see sticky rice at the register, do yourself a favor and buy it! They are really good. 2 STARS - Service is slowwwww 4 STARS - Food flavor

BBQ Pork very generous portion and very tasty!

My first time trying Cheung Hing, pretty good! I've heard a lot of chatter about this restaurant's meats and thought I'd give them a try on a Winter, rainy day. My focus was their variety of BBQ and roasted meats. I ordered to-go Egg Flower Soup, Mushroom Chicken, BBQ Pork and Combination Fried Rice. The BBQ Pork is really good and true to Chinese cuisine. It's hard to find an entree of BBQ Pork in the area. Portions are generous! Mushroom Chicken and Combination Fried Rice is really good, too. Mushroom Chicken is great over the rice. I didn't care for their version Egg Flower Soup, with bits of zucchini. I miss Egg Drop Soup accompanied by crunchy little, noodles to sprinkle on top. It's super hard to find. Everything was packaged nicely for to-go. They've got a large menu with lots of options for whatever you're craving. I was craving BBQ Pork. Definitely give them a try, especially if you enjoy BBQ and roasted duck, pork and chicken. They have larger platters of meats for parties or families. The duck looks amazing!

Not to be confused with the Cheung Hing for dimsum a 6minute drive away... be sure to triple check the location. The interior was nice, lots going on with food brought out after a decent time. We really liked the roast duck and the fried dough, the chow fun wasn't mixed very well and the clams didn't taste too fresh. Total came out to $62 -- they calculate tip after tax so beware.

It took me a while to finally check this place out, it's in the old Uncle Chen's location. Quality was ok, service slow but we went late on a Tuesday night so can't really complain. For the price and quality, it's a solid choice if you are craving some comforting Chinese food. We had some chicken fried rice (tons of chicken!), beef chow fun, and egg rolls. Big portions, well seasoned, not overly greasy. Hit the spot and I will check them out again, the roast duck and pork on the menu looked good, will have to check those out next time.

If I could give 0 stars i really would. We Really wanted to eat some duck over rice , and was so disappointed, duck was raw. Pot stickers tasted a bit funny unusual. Egg rolls were cold in the middle, only hot layer was the fried skin. Needless to say we will not come here again. We didn't finish the food, we paid to get plates dirty since nothing was eaten only tasted and came home disgusted although we were so hungry .

Came here yesterday for lunch with a cousin and my Aunt. We were on a mission to try several (8!) dishes, plus steamed rice in preparation for my Aunt's upcoming birthday lunch which will be here in December (currently November)... Pros- many of the dishes were quite tasty. My favorites were the braised tofu with bok choy, and a 50/50 platter of their bbq pork and crispy pork dishes. The meats were super tender and juicy, almost melted in my mouth. The bok choy was light, a nice contrast to the other dishes which combined became quite heavy. My Aunt's favorite was also the braised tofu with bok choy, followed by their sweet and sour chicken, then their honey walnut prawns. The restaurant is not fancy, but it was packed (every table was in use!) with really nice patrons. The tables around us were extremely friendly, one table brought us take out containers when they went to get their own (so nice, right!)! And other folks came by to wish my Aunt a happy birthday... it was a restaurant, but almost felt like we were at someone's home. Cons- the staff didn't seem to communicate with one another... while we were a table of 3 guests, we ordered a ton of food and asked the initial waitress for a larger table. She combine our small four top table with a two top, all the other waitresses tried to take it away seeing only the 3 of us, so we had to explain our situation to 3 of their other waitresses. I would have thought after the first one, they'd all know our situation, but that didn't happen. My cousin (cousin-in-law) goes to this spot a lot with her family. She mentioned their lobster noodles were amazing, so we ordered the $9.99 special since we had well over the $88.88 order requirement. Perhaps I didn't mix it enough or it was a bad day, but that was my least favorite dish... and I generally love lobster and noodles! Otherwise, we all enjoyed our lunch! The food in general was very good and the people around us were extremely nice and gave the spot a very homey feel. Was a fun time! Note - it does get super busy, luckily I suggested we get there around 11:30, by 12:07 it was literally packed with people waiting outside.

    Salt and Pepper Pork Chops

The banquet meal #1 for $308 was fine. The clams in black bean sauce was good as was the Yang Zhou fried rice and lobster with ginger and green onion. The seafood with tofu soup was fine. The Peking spareribs, Peking duck and salt and pepper fish were ok. A decent meal.

Still a favorite go-to restaurant for very good Cantonese food. Always great to eat familiar and new dishes. Consistent quality and reasonable prices. Love this place.

I come back here so many times just for their clay pot rice. There are many options to choose from Chinese sausage, pork, beef, chicken, or fish in a mini clay pot. I always get the preserved sausage and pork rice in clay. I can smell the delicious aroma as the staff mixed the crispy rice with the soy sauce. The sizzling Chinese sausage definitely adds another layer of sweetness to the pot. The best part of this is savoring the charred rice on the bottom of the pot. Apart from the amazing clay pot, I also loved their flavorful and juicy roasted duck. And the service was always super fast.

    The Roast Duck lunch special.
    Arvey S.

I came here on a lark and I'm glad I did. For some reason, all of a sudden upon reading the menu, I had a hankering for their Roast Duck. Maybe the aroma or whatever, it's what I ordered. When my order came, it was visually delightful and spot on if it's curb appeal you're looking for. The lunch special was generous and I enjoyed every bite of the meal. And not to be stereotypical, I also noticed that as the patrons drifted in, they were all Asians, so there must be some genuine authenticity to their food. I give these folks a thumbs up!

Ask the Community - Cheung Hing

There's another one in Belmont? Are there two or did they move and one is closed? Thanks!

There are two. One in Belmont and one at this location.

Are they related to the Cheng Hing in SF?

I believe so, as they always ask and verify that you are ordering from the San Mateo location and not the Millbrae or SF ones when you order out.

    What is the WiFi password?

    It's their phone number

    Do they accept credit cards?

    Yes

Are they owned by the old owners?

Not the same owners as uncle Chen’s if that is your question. This restaurant is run by the same family that has the restaurants of the same name in Millbrae and San Francisco.

They excel at chow fun, fried food, crispy skin poultry, fish fillet and oysters. My go-tos: * Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings - addictive. They half each wing so each piece has a single bone, making it easy to eat like a drumstick. The flavor needs improvement, but the batter is very addictive -- crispy, fluffy and crunchy (if ordered when the batter is fresh). * Stir-fry Fish Fillet with Broccoli - the menu lists this with mixed veggies, but I prefer this with regular broccoli. This used to be the best fish dish around. Super flavorful. They source the fish from a place that filets fresh sea bass, but that place had gone downhill and they often sub tilapia instead. * Shrimp with Scrambled Egg Chow Fun (wet) - the chow fun is silky smooth, wide in width, and slightly charred. None of that shriveled, dried-up fun you get elsewhere. * String Bean - crispy and deep-fried They also do these really well: * Salt and Pepper Live Crab - as good as R&B Lounge. Crispy batter and freshest tasting live crab with no pee smell. Good during crab season. * Roast Duck - very crispy skin. I find that dipping the meat in their sauce plus the pool of sauce on the plate makes this flavor better than Cheung Hing's. I love the roast duck from Cooking Papa (Santa Clara), but their skin is not crispy. * Crispy Skin Chicken - get the one that comes with two sauces; dipping is essential for best flavors. If you order anything Salt and Pepper style, come early evening because the batter deteriorates over time. There was a stretch after Covid when they cut costs and swap out some perfect ingredients with cheaper ones; and not add salt to some veggies perhaps for health benefits, but glad that most of that have been walked back.

Why would they remove the other bone to the chicken wing. This would be time consuming. The flavor was good but I strongly doubt it was chicken wing. What I believe they sold was pieces of chicken thighs left over from cutting off most Of the meat. If they are misbranding the food, the restaurant is misleading customers. Pretty much everything on the menu is good here. If there's something that sounds interesting, get it. If you've been curious about spaghetti dishes at southern Chinese restaurants, get one. The General's Chicken is actually insanely good here, like the best lunch special I know anywhere, and it's General's Chicken. Hainan chicken, salt and pepper spare ribs, rice clay pots, eggplant dishes, and even Chinese curry are items I commonly see ordered around me. The tofu seafood claypot is fantastic. Pretty sure they have Peking spareribs and they were great iirc. The chow fun dishes are only good, not super exceptional, you rarely see people order them. Alright the few things I've noticed that could be improved have all happened when I come closer to closing than opening. I've had a couple times where the tea kettle was still soapy, so the tea tasted awful. Their kettles keep the tea piping hot for the whole meal, so maybe that makes them hard to clean. We also decided to try a couple of things we had never ordered before after seeing other tables enjoy them. The beef chow fun looked amazing when we saw someone else order it, so we gave it a try. Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. The noodles were on the dry side and lacked the flavorful wok hei and savory taste that I usually look for in a good beef chow fun. It was just missing that something special. We also ordered the Chinese chicken salad because we wanted something lighter to balance out the meal. I was expecting the traditional shredded chicken with lettuce, but instead it came with thin tortilla-style chips underneath. That really changed the whole feel of the dish for me. I was hoping for a refreshing salad, but the chips made it feel more greasy, and the mustard oil dressing was not really my preference. The chicken was also a little dry. I probably would not order this again. The good news is the salt and pepper spare ribs were still delicious, just like we expected. They remain one of our favorites here. Overall, I would stick with the dishes we already know and love and skip the beef chow fun and chicken salad next time.
