    Dinner set, all for $36.99!

It's a new business model for this location, they offer daily meal set only and the price is very affordable. The set has 3 main dishes with soup and rice. That was enough food for 4 adults for sure, incredibly convenient if you want to go on a budget. My absolute favorite is beef curry, goes really well with white rice.

$36 for 3 dishes, 1 soup and rice - where can you find somewhere cheaper? No where! Also for your first order, it's only $9.90! O R D E R E D * seasonal vegetables * sweet corn fish filet * stir fried pork collar with celery * red dates goji berries & cordyceps flower w/ chicken soup * and rice V E R D I C T This is the perfect home cooking spot without needing you to do the cooking. It's such a good deal for the value you pay. The flavor is just like what my mom would make at home and now, with cooking papa's assistance, I'm able to spend more time with my family instead of spending it in the kitchen. Their service is quick and efficient, when you arrive, you just give them a call and they'll bring the door freshly made out to you. Everything is made to order and nothing is premade making every dish hot and fresh! They're not meant to be dine-in, it's made to order for to-go and you can dine in at home to eat it. Parking can be relatively easy or a bit harder depending on the time of your pick up, of course it can get a bit busy during dinner time and when most people get off work.

This main course was absolutely delicious and generously portioned. The four of us had more than enough to enjoy a truly satisfying meal.

I've been to the physical Cooking Papa location many years ago and just discovered that they have a ghost kitchen right by me. This is quite convenient because you just order and pick up. Plus, they're doing a package where you get three dishes and one soup for just $37. Pretty good deal imo.

Love the family dinner set, tasty and great value! I want to share the amazing set meal we had this past Saturday: Black Pepper Chicken: The chicken pieces were incredibly tender and juicy, with a rich black pepper sauce that packed a punch! The crispy outer layer was perfectly balanced with the moist interior--delicious. Stir-fried Shrimp with Celery: The shrimp were super fresh, firm, and bouncy, while the celery added a nice crunchy bite. A great combo of flavors and textures! Garlic Baby Napa Cabbage: This simple stir-fried napa cabbage was taken to the next level with the addition of garlic. It was light, healthy, and the garlic flavor really made the dish shine, making it the perfect palate cleanser. Mushroom & Seaweed Chicken Soup: This soup was definitely my favorite! The chicken broth was clear and sweet, and the mushrooms and seaweed blended perfectly for a comforting, flavorful bowl. It really warmed me up!

This review is not about the food but about the process of not being able to see the menu in English on the website listed in Yelp ( cookingpapa.us) making it impossible to even order. Everything is written in Chinese, so I ended up calling the number listed on Yelp. After several rings and an automated voice in English saying something to the effect of the call being analyzed by AI . What? Even if AI is the phone attendant is it necessary to make a statement? Anyway a woman answered the phone . I asked if there's a way to see menu in English. She said yes, but first must create an account and log in. . Then find the page to change language to English. Are you kidding me? I'm not going to do that just to view the menu. Plus they require one day advance in order to order. No same day order. So even I created account today, I cannot order today, Well then, bye. I'll take my business elsewhere.

The roasted pork and soy sauce chicken were standout dishes for me -- flavorful, juicy, and nicely presented. The truffle fried rice was also surprisingly good and packed with flavor. Loved how many different dishes we were able to share around the table. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that service slowed down once the restaurant got busy, and some dishes felt a bit expensive. But overall, the food quality, presentation, and vibe made it a really enjoyable dinner spot in San Mateo.

I had the pleasure of having lunch here on a Friday afternoon. We were a party of three, with a reservation for 12 noon. It was my first time here, but my niece had been to Palette several times. So she knew the best tables and how to order. We were seated in a booth towards the back near the kitchen. There was a steady flow of staff walking by. Anytime you needed something, you just ask someone. We decided to order a variety of dim sum, the Signature Peking Duck (half), and the Pan Seared Seafood Noodles. Everything was delicious. The presentation of the Peking Duck was beautiful. They used momo pancakes instead of steamed bao. It's not a duck chopped in half. It's an offering of crispy thin duck skin, with chunks of boneless duck meat underneath. Served with cucumber, radlish, scallions and hoisin sauce. I think my favorite dim sum was the Yuzu Walnut Prawn Puff. Crunchy fried prawns w/ yuzu sauce, and candied walnuts. It's considered an elevated modern dish. Don't forget to check out the koi pond with live fish on the community table top. Free parking in mall lot. I parked on the roof and took the escalator directly down to the restaurant.

Small details like that always make the experience feel better. Food - 4/5 4.5/5 Dish Ordered: Baked Spaghetti One of the classics at a Hong Kong Café. Honestly tasted like childhood. The sauce was delicious, rich, and comforting without being overwhelming. Everything was cooked just right and came out piping hot. Hit or Miss: Hit. Definitely something I would come back for again. 3/5 Drink Ordered: Hong Kong Style Milk Tea It was okay. Nothing bad about it, but nothing super memorable either. Pretty standard flavor overall. Hit or Miss: Slight Hit. Would drink it again if I was already there, but not something I'd specifically crave. Additional Comment: Overall, pretty solid experience. Nothing was mind blowing, but everything was done well. The baked spaghetti was definitely the highlight for me and the service helped make the meal enjoyable. I'd come back mainly for the spaghetti and a comfortable casual meal.

Parking was challenging as it was the farmer's market. They use Yelp waitlist. The place is small and we were a party of 5. Won ton noodle soup - Came out fast. It was just okay. Mainly for our toddler. Pickled mustard greens with pork noodles - you can select your noodles. This was basic but decent. Not as good as those you get a Taiwanese cafe. Baked Shrimp over rice with portuguese sauce - Tasted like curry to me. I rarely get the baked dishes because they tend to be a bit on the heavier side. My husband and in-laws like this. Upgraded this with soup and garlic bread - the soup had a sour aftertaste - I think this is from a can. The garlic bread was good! Chicken Katus w/ rice - Surprisingly good. My toddler loved it. Their milk tea was perfection (we had dim sum yesterday and the milk tea was watered down) Heavy on the MSG - I passed out. One unisex large and surprisingly nice bathroom. I would still come back.
