At Treasure for Mother's Day lunch and they don't have glassware for water or tea. They gave us paper cups! I expected better

Arrived at 10 am on a Saturday and was asked if we had reservations. (no) Lots of tables available. Seated. Asked for tea, no tea, no hot water. Think I was served hot tap water in a glass. Siu mai flavorful. Steamed pork bun soso. Chicken feet too salty. Potstickers, ok. I think the staff wanted us to leave. Greeter said "we only have dim sum" like that would make us leave. One of us was Caucasian. All-Chinese groups seemed to get better service. Dim sum little fancier than usual. Decor lovely. I'd try them again before making definitive opinion. I'll see if they are rude again the next time. read more

My elders enjoyed this meal: great decor, great food. We ordered the Fusion Peking roast duck and that came in two styles; the traditional spread and a spicy soup. There's even a little show at the beginning where they light the duck on fire! Older Chinese relatives are hard to impress so I would say this is a win overall! read more

A group of 5 of us just flew in from a wedding in Vegas and were hungry for lunch. Couldn't decide on where to go until I remembered seeing some very good reviews for Treasure and they were open for lunch on Monday. We loved everything we had, especially the hot & sour soup, pork buns, soup dumplings, string beans, dim sum selections, jade black sesame buns, and egg tarts. Most reviews are good because I don't think you have tried Boiling Beijing in San Bruno. Yes this place looks fancy and more modern but they don't run their business with honesty. Everyone comes here for the duck obviously but they only carve up to when the plate looks full. Then they push the cart back and you only got 60% of what you paid for. The duck leg disappeared and after I complained to the waiter, he found me 2 pieces of the duck legs .. now I felt sorry that I probably took 2 legs from another table. Other dishes are descent and you pay for the ambience so I wouldn't say they are over priced but you should definitely watch the carving chef and ask for all the meat you can get ... read more

We arrived when the restaurant was nearly empty and were told to wait a moment while a table was arranged. While we were waiting, the staff took a phone reservation and promised a table in 15 minutes. After we waited over 10 minutes, we were told there were no tables available anymore unless we shared with another party. It was frustrating to see a table effectively given away to a reservation made after we had already arrived and were waiting. The handling of the situation felt unprofessional. read more

Our first time here and it was fantastic. We ordered the duck and the skin was crispy and the meat was moist. Most delicious when you include the sauces and wrap it like a burrito. Was excited to try this new restaurant that seemed to just appear! Beautiful outside and in lots of room at the tables and can accommodate large groups. Honestly our dishes were hit and miss. Hot and sour soup was a disappointment- at $18 for such a large portion -it was a little lackluster missing some of the signature sour. We were happy to see our favored Baked BBQ Pork buns which we excitedly ordered and while the presented beautifully -large golden and fluffy they were room temperature at best and the filling flavorful but cold was a let down. We saw the whole Peking duck service was popular and definite is a whole part of the experience there we wondered if it was worth the $188. Our biggest let down were the wontons is hot chile wontons. While a shout out does go to the homemade wontons it was lacking the complex spice and heat one comes to expect from this dish. Also with what we saw with Tea options at $18-24 we missed having hot tea to compliment the meal. Would we go again to give it another try ... maybe. It was hard enough to get it we tried at 5:20 Friday night for party of 2 but was turned away with and 1.5 wait for walk-in's and then when we called ahead Saturday to make a reservation we couldn't get one till 7:30 Sunday. TLDR: EXTREMELY slow service, raw food that caused diareah, didn't even get all of our food, overpriced (but I guess Belmont rent is expensive so I won't knock them too much on this). 1 star for the soft opening. Maybe it will get better? But even if they get all the logistics figured out, food wise, I don't see this being more than 3 stars. We were the second table seated on a Saturday from opening and I am guessing second to order. It took forever for someone to even come to get our order. There were tons of servers. After 1 hour and 20 minutes at the restaurant, we still didn't get all our dishes. BBQ Pork Buns - Couldn't even tell ya how it is because we never got it...after waiting over an hour. Shrimp Dumplings with Crispy Garlic - These were basically the steamed version of the shrimp dumplings but fried. I didn't see any crispy garlic bits but it doesn't matter because my husband bit into it and it was RAW inside. We immediately sent it back. I didn't have any. He had diarreah at night. I didn't. Everything else we had that day was the exact same. From what he did taste, he said it was kind of weird and definitely not anything special. Tea - Who talks about the tea at a Chinese restaurant but I have to talk about it to warn you all. Don't think this is your typical dim sum place where you ask for chrysanthemum tea or oolong tea when you sit down. Their tea is extremely expensive. I asked for chrysanthemum tea and the tea ended up being some bagged tea served in a fancy pot that tasted like water through the WHOLE meal and had a price point of $12. Shrimp and Pork Shiu Mai - Tasted decent enough. Nothing to write home about. Have had better. Sesame Filling Buns - The filling was CRUNCHY. I've made these myself at home before. The filling is crunchy when you have put too much sugar and it hasn't melted. It's like chewing on SAND. Mapo Tofu - It did not taste authentically Sichuan and VERY heavy on the Pi Xian Bean Sauce. I make this myself at home and I know it tastes heavily of the bean sauce when it is NOT stir fried enough in oil before adding water to make the sauce. Any mapo tofu Youtube video will tell you that. Yuck. Chicken Feet - Does not taste like your typical dim sum place chicken feet. They put a bit of their own twist on it. It's not bad...but we really didn't care for it. Sometimes I just want the original dim sum! Chongqing La Zi Chicken Wings - Nice and crispy coating but the wings were not marinated so it's a bit bland and missing the umph. It was decent. Again, I've had better at a better price point with more chicken. Service - The servers were nice enough but they were SOOO SLOWWW. It took about 20 minutes from when we asked for the check and take out boxes and asking twice to even get the check. Took about another 10 minutes to flag anyone to even TAKE my credit card and take the food to the back to pack my food. Then it took another roughly 10 minutes and asking multiple people to even get the packed food back. My husband wanted to leave multiple times without the food but I paid for it so I wasn't leaving without it, especially we only ate about half of it. We were so excited that the Belmont food scene was adding more Asian restaurants. I had high hopes that this would make Palette Tea Garden make a run for their money but I was so disappointed. Nothing stands out on the food, it's expensive, and oh god please figure out your service logistics. read more

Terrific dim sum and my husband declares their egg custard tarts the best he's ever had, which they are the flakiest most fresh custardy soft set things ever to land in our mouths and in fact, it's only after we ordered them, did they bake them, and were told they'd be another ten minutes before the came out. Given the quality, no matter here. Their hot and sour soup is solid, though not sour enough for me. Their sizer Medium is huge, a tureen, and way more than enough for a family of six. For just the two of us, it was a waste. The garlic eggplant also solid, as were the baked BBQ pork buns, and chive/shrimp spinach wrapper pot stickers, sauteed/pan-fried not deep fried (though they have those as well). I was salivating over what seemed like cart after trolley paying us with two different manners of peking duck, silken crackling bronzed skin, but that was a huge portion gone to waste for just the two of us, who have very small appetites. I wish they served the duck in individual portions or at least, by the quarter, which we'd have gone for. The interior and ambience is beautiful but they keep the temperature cold and I was shivering, despite wearing a wool shawl and sweater, plus the lighting is extraordinarily harsh. Others around us didn't seem to have an issue, so it just might be me who's hypersensitive. Parking is not an issue, because they have their own free private lot. read more

Dropped into Treasure on Thursday evening just after the autumn moon festival. There was a short 10 minute wait and we were seated. We followed our server's recommendation and chose the honeysuckle, chrysanthemum and jasmine tea, which was a pot to share and he assured us that he'd be around to refill the pot as needed. It was surprising that the tea came stuffed in a nylon pyramid bag - I would've preferred loose. The aromatics did come through though and we enjoyed the tea throughout dinner. We ordered the Mapo Tofu, Sichuan pan fried Chicken, and Hunan Spiced Braised Noodles with Beef Flank. Mapo Tofu was delicious with the floral flavor of the Sichuan peppers right there in the nose and on the palate. Such a generous portion that we couldn't finish it. Just a heads up on the spiciness of the dish: It was marked with one on the menu and wasn't really spicy/hot, just a nice warmth in your mouth and the slight numbness on the tongue from the Sichuan pepper which was to be expected. The pan fried chicken was flavorful in the mouth but was lacking a finish. Also a big portion. The noodles were wonderful. I was particularly curious about the pickles they were served with and it totally worked. Loved the flavorful broth with star anise shining through. The serve ware is pretty, the interior held in modern light grey and dark contrasting tones. Our server was friendly and attentive. Parking is available around the building. read more

We visited the restaurant yesterday around 6:30 PM. The host informed us that the wait time would be approximately 40 minutes. We left our name and phone number, and the host said they would call us once a table was ready. After waiting in our car for about 40 minutes, my boyfriend went inside to check on the status. The host then told him it would be another 30-40 minutes because a previously absent party had just arrived. We understood and confirmed that they would call us after the additional wait time, The host assured us they would. Unfortunately, we never received a call. The restaurant itself looks very nice, but the hosting staff could benefit from additional training in communication and guest management. We really enjoyed the service and the quality of the food. When you walk in you can see the chefs making dumplings by hand and you can taste that ingredients are fresh. Our waiter was very attentive and would check in with us to ensure we got what we needed. The xiao long bao was really good! One of the best that I've tried in the bay area. This was hands down one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a very long time. The restaurant has been open for about a month, but it already feels completely disorganized and poorly managed. I showed up around 11:15 AM and was told by the hostess that they weren't taking any new customers until 12 PM. That made no sense because the place was already open and had plenty of empty tables. I put my name down for a party of six and came back at noon. Sure enough, when we were seated, there were still several open tables sitting there unused. From the start, the service was a disaster. The hostess looked lost, frantic, and completely untrained -- she couldn't answer even simple questions and seemed overwhelmed by everything. There were two main servers: one who actually knew what he was doing and tried to hold things together, and another who clearly didn't care at all. The second server looked miserable, didn't want to be there, and provided zero service. He's the one we asked about our missing dish -- he said he'd check, disappeared, and never came back. When we finally flagged him down again, he just said, "It's coming." Spoiler: it wasn't. We ended up having to ask the other server, who told us one of our dishes had sold out -- but no one ever bothered to tell us. Meanwhile, there was one runner who brought out dishes and one busboy cleaning tables -- they were the only two people who actually seemed to be working hard. Everyone else looked checked out or confused. It took about 45 minutes to get six of our eight dishes, and the last two never arrived. By that point, we were done waiting. We told them to cancel the missing dishes and just give us the check. There was no apology, no explanation, nothing. They didn't charge for the tea, but even that was disappointing -- a basic teabag tossed into a strainer inside the pot. Not even loose-leaf tea, which is ridiculous for a sit-down restaurant. Between the disorganized staff, long waits, missing food, and lack of communication, this restaurant was a complete letdown. It's been open a month -- long enough to have figured out basic service and kitchen coordination -- but clearly, that hasn't happened. I won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone until they completely overhaul their staff and management. read more

This is a new Chinese restaurant that took over the iHOP location in Belmont. The interior decoration is beautiful. We came on a Saturday with a 10am reservation. We were seated right away and were the only customers at the time. We were given menus, but servers took awhile to take our orders. We were at this time told some of the steamed items would not be available until 11:30am!! This was puzzling as they open at 10am! Anyway, we ordered dim sum including bunny shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, turnip cake trio, spring rolls, steamed bbq buns, steamed pork and seafood dumplings, spicy wontons and steamed ribs. The portion was generous, and most dishes were delicious. The spicy wontons lacked the rich sauce that it normally has. The wrapping to the bunny shrimp dumplings fell apart immediately when picked up. For dessert we ordered the egg tarts and panda red bean buns. We were told they didn't have the panda buns that day. 2 of 3 plates of egg tarts were piping hot while the third was cold. Service definitely was lacking. It may be due to experience as it's newly open. There were no sauces (soy, chili sauces, vinegar) on the table. No serving utensils were provided until we asked. Servers were often unsure what items were available when we ordered. Overall, I'll go back to try at a later date, hopefully the service would improve. Food was mostly delicious. 3 of us went here last Sunday AM for a deferred Chinese NY celebration. First, no one acknowledged us as we waited in the lobby; just us 3, no other customers. 4 employees walked past us and not one word of welcome or "sit tight" from any of them. I had to go up to a server to tell her we'd been standing out front for several minutes - she said the one and only waiter in the entire restaurant would seat us. He finally comes up and says that they were only serving dim sum. I said I want the peking duck - not possible without a prior reservation; to which I replied, i called here and was told you do not take reservations to be seated 10-11am and furthermore, was not told we could not order anything except for dim sum at that hour. Dont think this is a dim sum place... Its more like, let's order some Cantonese dishes with a few (very few) dim sum stuff. Ordered a bunch of items but the hai gow. Shrimp was chewy and cold. They took it back and it was just okay. Tasted like it was frozen before...but I have no idea if it was or not. But big thumbs down. Pork with black bean sauce was pretty bland and oily. Other stuff was meh, not off the charts. Just seemed like the environment and the food didnt match. Beautiful decoration but service and food was not up to par yet. Dont think it was the servers fault but felt like whoever the owner or manager didnt even train the servers. However the biggest concern is, I think the manager or one of the owners was eating right next to us because he ordered a few things and kept talking to the waiters and chef. How do we know it might be the owner...because we went there when it opened at 11am and I think he also took our japanese egg tarts, because we waited for our desserts but never arrived and this guy ate one of every small dish and left most of it on the table. (Mid aged Asian male, wearing a cardigan and a black fanny pack) he probably heard us talking about the food. But didnt seem to care that the food was coming out cold, charged us dishes that never came and still smiled like nothing was wrong.) I know this place used to be an IHOP before but I would rate IHOP a little better than here, even though its been 20 years since ive gone to one. Please do better.
